Rate this book
Girls need ample, loving demonstrations from adults close to them that they are appreciated and can be trusted to know what they need for themselves. They also need to be given plenty of opportunity to develop their talents. Girls who lack sufficient emotional support may feel neglected and unworthy of attention, and easily find themselves at greater risk of exploitation and abuse, even as adults. Raising Confident Girls provides parents and teachers with the best hands-on, practical advice available for nurturing girls in a changing and challenging social environment.

Wow. "Be nice to your daughter." "Listen when your daughter talks." "Don't make your daughter sit naked at the dinner table as a punishment." (No kidding, that was an example of how to ruin a girl's self-confidence.) I didn't finish this book, yet don't feel I'm jumping the gun by only giving it one star.

I read this every time I can and review it with sticky notes on pages that really help me. I love this book each page has a title page followed up with a title and story followed by tips that I actually have time to read and apply.

I really enjoyed the layout of this book and how it was broken into various sections and subsections within each that were easy to read an digest. I'm definitely going to have to reread and will be passing around to family members who have daughters.

This book was really amazing! I now have a daughter who has entered that difficult age group, and I was needing some guidance. This book had some really great insights and has really helped me with my parenting of my daughter(s). I highly recommend this book for everyone who is raising, has thought about raising, or teaching a girl. It was a really quick read, and I appreciated that it is more written as a list of good ideas rather than a lot of "fluff".

So obviously took me a while to finish but I do like the way it was laid out - I could read it in bits because the idea was discussed on the left page while the "tips" were on the right page. I marked about 20 of them as things I should think more about as a mom. I'd be interested to see how/if a book like "Confident Boys" would be different.

It's just that a list of tips. They are good tips, but I am so pragmatic I need better application and a way to remember the tips when in the room with my daughter. So the advice is a bit disjointed. I would prefer a how to style a bit more.

This book is good starting point. It gives you tips on what to do, but doesn't really go into HOW to do some of the things. It's a good way to look at your parenting style and maybe look for another book in the areas where you may need some extra advice.

Most of the points in this book are common sense. But it might be helpful for teachers who do not have children.

Good intentions, and good advice. Just a bit shallow and redundant. Not anything that really stuck with me, but a good "try harder" boost for the moment.
