Set in Chesham on the English countryside, this is the tale of David Farnsworth, a teenager who is having trouble fitting in at his new school. Willing to try anything to find a sense of belonging, David becomes an apprentice for the school's physical education teacher and assists with some of the school's girls' sports teams. However, when one of the players comes down with an injury just before a do-or-die game, David reluctantly agrees to replace her. To the surprise of everyone, David's team wins. But now, they all want Dale (David's female alter ego) to become a permanent part of the team. Will David be a temporary substitute or will Dale become a permanent British lass?
A British Lass by Alice Port This is a short read. It takes a boy and puts him in a situation. We all know what that is. The story evolves. 3 stars It did keep me occupied. Onward to book two of this three-part series.
Plagiarised: a verbatim (barring some name changes) rip-off of the story 'We Are The Champions' by Darryl Foster, which is still freely available on the now inactive Crystal's Story Site. Don't buy this book - don't give money to thieves.
