When life makes you into the hero you never wanted to be...
Now that the cure has been found and distributed, Ruby’s ready to move ahead with the life she always wanted: small town, cute house, quiet job, with her boyfriend Sam by her side, of course. All she needs to do is foist the responsibility of ruling World Peace Now off onto her half-brother, Adam. Surely he’ll rise to the task of caring for the people with whom he grew up.
Sometimes that cape really starts to chafe.
But Ruby’s brother doesn’t want to rule any more than she does, and the people of World Peace Now aren’t too keen on being fobbed off. Ruby could just walk away, and a year ago, she would have. But now that she’s grown an iron backbone, how can she leave the problems of the world to run and hide? When dangers begin to multiply, and Sam’s clearly miserable dealing with them all, Ruby realizes she has a bigger decision to make.
How many times is she really obligated to save the world... and what price is she willing to pay in order to do it?
This was a surprise addition to the series, and being very satisfied with the way the original trilogy ended, I didn't feel like another book was really needed, but I enjoy Bridget's writing so of course I was going to read this. I enjoyed this, but not as much as the others in the series. It felt like the story in this one moved slower than the others, and there was less action, but Bridget's writing pulled me in anyway.
This book deals with things that were just left to the imagination at the end of book three. It delves into a lot of politics and also Ruby's feelings about some things, and how she comes to terms with it all, including her relationship with Sam. There was a lot of inner turmoil going on for both Sam and Ruby. I have to say that I wasn't crazy about the other guy that gets thrown into the mix. In fact, he annoyed the heck out of me, and I'm not sure he was really needed in the story. But I was really happy to get more about Sam and Ruby, and I thought the things they were struggling with were realistic.
LOVING & ADORING this series SOOOOO MUCH!!!! DEF DO NOT WANT IT TO END!!! The characters are SOOOO MAGNIFICENT and my heart just loves them!!! The building back up after endings is what makes this particular journey sooo very special!!!:-). And the ending was SOOOO ON POINT in the most BEAUTIFUL way!!!:-). Cannot WAIT to continue on this journey!!!:-). LOVED IT!!!:-)
This book was an unexpected addition to the series. I was quite satisfied with the way the original trilogy ended, and initially, I didn't feel another book was necessary. However, I have always enjoyed Bridget's writing, so I decided to give it a read. While I found it enjoyable, it didn't captivate me as much as the previous installments.
The pace of this book felt slower, with less action compared to the earlier books. Despite this, Bridget's writing still managed to pull me in. This installment addresses unresolved elements from the end of book three, diving into the political landscape and Ruby's emotional journey as she reconciles her feelings and relationships, particularly with Sam.
The book explores a significant amount of inner turmoil for both Ruby and Sam. Their struggles are portrayed realistically, making their characters more relatable. However, a new character introduced into the mix didn't quite resonate with me. His presence felt unnecessary and somewhat irritating, detracting from the main narrative.
Despite this, I was delighted to delve deeper into Sam and Ruby's relationship. The realistic portrayal of their challenges added depth to the story. Overall, while this addition to the series moved at a slower pace and included less action, it provided meaningful insights into the characters' lives and their evolving dynamics.
Ruby and Sam keep looking for ways to ease out of the leadership position she's found herself in. Then maybe Ruby's not really supposed to find her way out. What will that mean for everyone in their lives?? The characters flow well together in a fast easy read that can be a brief escape from your daily life. The main characters are developed well, and we can identify with them, but I wish we'd seen more of their relationships with those they had lost, that are returned to them. The jokes, and laughs that we given to offset the sorrow are perfect to keep the book light so it is still so much more moving than sad. I'm sorry to see their story end.
Sometimes it's hard to write (and even read "the end") because it always feels like there could have been more. This was the best last book I think I've read yet in a series! Still action, still plot twists and still an ending you're totally rooting for. The author has done a phenomenal job with the ENTIRE series. Highly and completely recommend every single book. I actually feel satisfied that the story came to an ending, instead of wishing for more. She nailed all my little questions from the previous book. Loved reading from start to finish..... This series was had to put down once I started. Now I'm looking forward to another series from Bridget Baker.
Although not quite as action-packed as the previous books, I still loved this one. Don't get me wrong, there's still twists that I didn't entirely expect, and some parts had me questioning what was going to happen next. I love how this last book ties it all together at the end and gives us the closure we need. I can't wait to see what other worlds (series) the author has created.
A fitting ending! While not as impactful and fast paced as the earlier books in the series, this one definitely delivered. There were a few bombshells and even more twists that I didn't anticipate but I feel like the story ended as it should. Ruby and the other characters deserved and earned their happily ever after.
I loved this book series I finished 1-2 of her books in a day and that’s saying something because I don’t have much time to read but, I made time that day! It was amazing and I was interesting to see the Sam and ruby’s perspectives. Especially because Sams side wasn’t to much like other books like that are! It was a great read would highly recommend the whole series!
This was the 4th book in a series... which I loved. But this book was a lot different. There wasn't as much danger and action and it focused more on some tangled love interests. It took me a lot longer to read than the others as I just wasn't into it as much. I don't plan on reading the 5th book, but I am glad I finished this one.
I liked the shift in POVs of the main characters in the chapters but if you're satisfied with the ending in book 3 this is more of an add on. Kind of a bonus book and i think it diluted the story a bit. Instead of focusing on saving the world, the focus switched but i liked the addition of the new characters as well and diving into the politics.

I enjoyed this book very much, even if it wasn’t as fast paced as the other three. There was drama and intrigue. When the son of the leader of an unknown country shows up, hoping to marry Ruby to create a political reunion, we get another love triangle. And then a blast from Sam’s past.... Top it off with someone who wants Ruby out of the picture. Makes for a good book.
Renounced is the perfect ending to an amazing book series. I am sad to see it end, but i loved every second of it. Bridget is truly an amazing author. If you loved the first three books, you will absolutely be blong away with this one.
Great ending to the series! I was so excited to find out what happens after the first three books! It was great to find out how the characters build their lives in the broken world. The book was a definite page turner and suspenseful to the last second. There was a great message too.
An exciting continuation to an amazing series! I enjoyed reading Renounced. Like the others in the series, this book is very well written and engaging, taking place after the events of book 3 and ties up all loose ends. Well done.
I hate when series end. I don’t want to leave my book-friends. But I think this is probably one of the most wrapped up endings ever. It was a great end to the series and not what I expected at all.
This book followed the romance storyline more than the action. Right up my alley. When an author gets you to doubt, the hero and heroine will get together in the end, and they are actually right for each other; she is doing her job well. Thank goodness for happily ever afters!
it was ok. it was nice to have a book to kind of wrap up the series buy this one was too corny. it was like Baker was trying to force some action into a story that could have been added to the end of the other book.
I thought I was done with this series-- but Bridget E. Baker hit another one out of the park! Just when you think Ruby's story is over, there's more! Now she has to figure out how to rebuild what was broken when the virus shattered the world. And at the same time, how to save her relationship when it seems that they are headed in different directions. It was a perfect finale to a gripping series!
Renounced is Book 4 in the Sins of our Ancestor series. Bridget E Baker once more blew my mind. When she created this series, it ended after Book 3 but after pleading of fans she decided to give us one more and she didn’t disappoint. For an author that meticulously outlines each book before writing this was not planned. But we needed to know what was going to happen to Ruby and Sam. Tercera has been defeated and the cure found but what is going to happen to the world now. A world in uproar that has been ruled by fear and split into 3 sections the Marked, the Unmarked, and WPN. Ruby sits at the top without ever wanting to people are referring to her as Queen and she wants nothing more than to live a peaceful life with Sam. Will Ruby and Sam’s dream of a yellow house in a calm neighborhood become a reality.
Ruby has high hopes for this new world she dreams of a democracy were the people will be in charge and have people that they have chosen and voted for at the helm. But there are more obstacles then successes for Ruby and things she cannot imagine.
Mrs. Baker a master in the love triangle does not disappoint again. She introduces a new character Kimball who is the son of the president of CINEW. CINOW is a settlement that covers California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. They also have Marked settlements but no cure for them. Kimball has come in peace to get the cure for his people but not without the hope to maybe convince Ruby to join forces through a marriage. How is Sam going to react to the fact that another guy is going after Ruby? Kimball unlike Sam knows all about how to rule and run a country whereas Sam’s strength it the military strategy and defense.
So, which one will Ruby choose? Will the dream of peace with a yellow house and the comfort of knowing Sam outweigh the help of someone that knows what to do and is new and exciting?

No matter how bumpy love can win, right? Ruby never wanted to rule, but now she's Queen of WPN. And they don't want her to ever leave. But her boyfriend Sam is much more comfortable in the shadows. Will they be able to get through this not so new difficulty or will they end it? I really enjoyed this book! It was the perfect ending to the series. I'm sad to see it end, but Bridget wrote it perfectly. I honestly can't see it ending any differently. If you have loved this series, you will absolutely be sucked into Ruby and Sam's newest adventure.
