NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER. Dove learned that lesson the hard way and now she’s risking her entire life to escape the cage of abuse she’s found herself locked in. But when the person you’re trying to hide from is the most famous rockstar in the world and has the whole world at his fingertips, it’s not as easy as one might think to simply fly away… This is a stand alone book and not a part of a series.
This book was so good. The storyline is fast paced. This book surprised me. I'm so used to reading MC genre books by this author. Her Gods of Chaos MC books are amazing. So I went into this one kind of skeptical but oh man it was really good. Dove was such a strong woman to put up with what she did, and telling us now if you have triggers this might not be for you. So glad she got help from such an unexpected person. Nate Nash is a RockStar with a major God complex, and very used to getting his way. He's such a selfish pr*ck. Didn't like his character at all. He's got I'll give him that. Samantha hmmm...a new start. Her and her dog Gigi are in Chicago a nurse. Meeting new people, making new friends. Meets Dr. McDreamy. She's skittish though but trying to open up. Not going to give it all away, just know you need to read this book. I highly recommend this book. Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis
Little Bird is a story that was a fast paced heartfelt emotional story that deals with mental manipulation and physical abuse. Dove a beautiful woman who happens to be a nurse meets a charismatic handsome tattooed man while she was walking her dog Gigi and begins a relationship only to learn that he is rock star Nate Nash. Nate is a master at getting his way with his god complex so he persuades Dove to give up her job and family and come live with him. Things are good at first, but then Nate's true character emerges, drugs, alcohol and women. This young woman gets blindsided by this egotistical rock star who becomes paranoid and later physically abusive towards Dove, until his bodyguard helps her escape Nate, helping her get a new identity with the drug money she stole from him. When Nate finds she is gone he becomes irate and is on a path of self destruction to himself and others around him until he can find his little bird and make her pay for leaving him. Starting a new life as a Nurse in Chicago as Samantha she meets new friends and a handsome doctor named Dane known as Dr. McDreamy. Dane becomes drawn to Samantha who is skittish about starting a relationship and is worried about what will happen to her if Nate should find her now that he is in Chicago. Dane is a renowned kidney specialist who is haunted by a past love that he couldn't save but with the feelings Samantha is bringing out in him will he be strong enough to open up his heart? As these two start seeing each other and become intimate, Samantha discovers that Dane treats her with all the love and compassion that Nate never gave her while they were together and so she tells him that she was abused and is afraid to give her heart away again when Dane told her about his past. Will these two get the happiness they both yearn for? This story will have you on the edge of your seat with all of the twists and turns especially with Dane and Nate's connection, Dane putting the pieces together that Samantha is really Dove and a brutal confession and an ending that will shock. Honey Palomino has outdone herself with this genre, this is a must read as you follow Dove and Dane's journey!
This story tugs at the empathetic part of me, especially knowing there are real women and men suffering the abuse of someone they love or loved. I don’t know if there are people out there that go to such extremes to start over like Dove but am guessing there are. This story really has me thinking about this more. On the other spectrum, Nate suffered too. He was abused by his psyche as a person who felt nothing at the pain of others. The whole situation is horrifying.
Engrossing book tells the tale of what happens when your greatest fantasy turns into your worst nightmare. Dark with triggers, the well written story is very fast paced and will keep you on edge. I would have given this 5 stars if the ending didn't feel very rushed, and leaving GiGi out of the epilogue was a disappointment ;)
HOLY S*IT I DID NOT SEE THIS COMING!!!!! This book is COMPLETELY CAPTIVATING! It surprised me page after page and if that's not enough I was in complete and utter shock by the time I finished. Nate and Dove's relationship is a whirlwind and ends almost as quickly as it began but my gosh at the turns it takes while it lasts. Thankfully life has more in store for Dove and after everything she's been through she deserves it. Little Bird is very different from any of the other books I've read by Honey Palomino and I've enjoyed every single one but this book is one of the best reads of 2020 in my opinion! Definitely deserves more than 5 stars!
I have been blessed with following and loving what this author does Her GOC series, her cowboys and now Dove, she is a nurse who gets caught up with a rock star when she stays with him he changes and it is not in a good way, finally she is able to leave bit has to leave her identity behind, starting over she is finally loving again and meets Dane who treats her like she should have always been treated, funny thing how small the world really is and Dove aka Samantha's past comes back and what a ride. Please if you love Romance, suspense and secrets revealed you have got to read this!!!
This is my favorite book from Honey Palomino to date! Dove’s story is one of love, fear, anger and reality. Sadly Dove’s situation happens every single day in our world. Honey did a fantastic job of letting us see what really sucked Dove into that world with Nate and how it turned so bad so quickly. Even better was seeing how strong she is even while running with the fear driving her. The friends she makes are ones that are irreplaceable and made the story that much more entertaining. And Dane? Well you’ll just have to read Little Bird to find out!
OMG! This has been the best book by Honey Palomino I have read. The depth of emotion conveyed in such simple every day dialogue and interactions shows how much talent this author has. This story, like many of her work, is not for the faint of heart. Abuse in all its gore is portrayed as carefully but as realistically as possible. The book is written with such love and compassion. It ends with a happily ever after but not all cases of abuse have such endings and the author is very empathetic to that. A really wonderful read. I highly recommend. **RECEIVED ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW**
LITTLE BIRD is an emotionally intense story that starts with Dove’s flight to escape her present nightmare, then flows between present and past throughout the book rather seamlessly. It’s a completely engaging tale that will often tear at your heart and make it ache for the personal abuse Dove experiences, but after she breaks free it will also bring you solace, hope, and joy. This is an emotional journey with a few surprising twists that at times you’ll find difficult to read, but it will always capture your attention and keep you thoroughly involved from its very beginning to its very end.
Short Description: Dove, a simple girl meets the man of her dreams but soon realizes that Nash / Nate is essentially Dr. Jykle / Mr. Hyde and that this dream is a nightmare.
Dove's character has admirable strength to move forward from her nightmare and do what she needs to do to survive and move forward.
A page-turner that had me finishing this book in one sitting.
I don’t know where to start with this book or even know how to review it. The words just flowed off of the pages and the more I read the more I loved it. I was hooked from the very first paragraph. The story was so captivating the characters were amazing in the story was extremely well written. My only complaint is that it ended. Honey is fast becoming one of my new favorite authors.
WOW! Get ready for an emotional roller coaster! Dove is a beautiful pediatric nurse living out her dream. Then she meets Nate Nash, rock star god. Nate sweeps Dove off her feet. Things appear great until there not.
Dove is determined to start over in a new city and new job. She meets Dane, Dr. McDreamy. Can Dane save Dove from her past?
First I want to say I generally don’t leave reviews. This is one of those books that you should definitely not judge by it’s cover. I was hooked from page one. Read it in less than 24 hours. Be advised there are some triggers, domestic violence, drug use and alcoholism. Very well written. Kept my interest until the last page.
Oh my what a book! Dove's story had me completely pulled in and loving every second. She goes through so much, and I felt every bit of her pain. I had to hold on for such an amazing ride! The story will have you gasping, and definitely keep you on your toes.
This was a good little thriller.i didnt see that story line coming.the description didn't do the story justice. First time read for this author. I enjoyed the story.
Just a warning it has triggers. This was one of the best books I have read in a long while. It was really well written and it made you both love and hate the bad guy! How many books can do that? If your looking for a good read that does contain triggers, here ya go.
I found Honey palomino,by reading Gods Of Chaos, love the series ,...LITTLE BIRD...Wow...Just wow, what a story, it has heartache love ,trust ..absolutely amazing characters!!
Wow! What a book!!! A great book with a great story. Totally enjoyed this unique story but it felt like something was missing but nevertheless I enjoyed it anyway!!!
As the blurb states "Don't judge a book by its cover" and this is something I am guilty of. I would usually see a cover like this and scroll right on by, But I'm so glad I saw this on one of Honey's FB posts and I got the opportunity to read this. I really enjoyed this book and was so happy that she was able to get away and get the chance to fall in love with a decent man. Great read
