The Amish Quiltmaker's Unexpected Baby

Rate this book
In the first in an engaging new series, an Amish quiltmaker moves from Pennsylvania to a new settlement in Colorado, where adventure, challenges, and love are waiting . . .

Esther Zook is starting over after her father’s death, piecing together a new life with as much as care as she puts into her intricate quilts. When her wayward sister abandons her baby, it throws all those plans for a fresh start asunder. Esther had accepted her status as an old maid—but a mother? And a single one, at that? Not that she hasn’t noticed Levi Kiem, the eligible young man who’s making repairs in her house. Yet he surely has no interest in Esther as anything other than a friend . . .

It’s true that Levi has plenty of marriage prospects. His dat has even offered to send him to Ohio to find a wife. Yet the more time he spends with Esther, the more intrigued he becomes. Feisty and independent, he’s nothing like the wife he once imagined for himself. Yet just as a quilt is crafted from contrasting cloth, they might find that together, they can create a family to cherish . . .

This is an Amish Fiction, and this is the first book in the Amish Quiltmaker series. WOW... I have to say I did not think I would love this book as much as I did. I know I would like it, but I cannot put into words how much I loved this book. This book pulled me in from the first page, and I did not want to stop reading it. I loved the characters, and I felt like the characters where real. The storyline was really good. I felt this was a really well written book that had great development. There was hard times, fun times, and sad times in this book. I feel like this book show real life having a newborn, and that it takes a lot of people to take care of a baby. I think this book also shows that you can love and hate family all at the same time. I know this book is not going to be for everyone, and this is not the normal sweet Amish fiction story. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Zebra Books) or author (Jennifer Beckstrand) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

I always enjoy a Jennifer Beckstrand book and this one didn't disappoint.
I jus love how she draws you into her stories right from the beginning!
The way she shows the Amish in this book I really appreciate.
I mean, the romance is OK but I enjoyed seeing this side of the Amish too. It shows that even though they are set apart from the world or try to be they are human beings too.. They have frustrations, joy in certain things, hurt, jealousy you name it it's all in this book. Oh and we can't forget the misunderstandings too.
I had to snicker at some of the conversations that Esther and Levi had. I really couldn't help myself.
Winnie really stole my heart I could easily picture I how she'd look. Such a sweet baby! I adored her. In a way, she's the true heroine.
I think I'm going to add here that I did NOT like Ivy! She was mean and very selfish
I feel that in my opinion that Beckstrand has done another wonderful job with this book.
Here's a favorite quote from this novel from Esther to Levi
"We should be kind for kindness's sake and Got will turn it into our good."
Five stars for this awesome Amish novel for the fine writing of course and for the beautiful cover on the front.
I highly recommend!
My thanks to Kensington/Netgalley for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unexpected Baby by Jennifer Beckstrand is the delightful beginning of The Amish Quiltmaker series. I was drawn into The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unexpected Baby from the very first page. I found myself staying up late so I could finish it (I did not want to stop reading). I thought it was well-written with engaging, developed characters. Esther Zook is thirty years old and has not been married. Her father recently passed away and left her the family farm. Selling the farm allowed Esther to get a new start in Colorado. Esther has an artistic eye and makes beautiful quilts. When her younger sister, Ivy leaves her infant daughter, Winter with her, it throws Esther into a tizzy. Esther has no experience with babies. Esther is a wonderful character. She likes to keep things behind one ear and you never know what it will be (seam ripper, carrot, chalk). The author shows a realistic view of what it is like to care for an infant (the joys and the frustrations). My favorite line from the book is, “The sound of a baby crying is the most stressful noise in the world.” Levi Kiem is a local handyman in his early twenties. He will be heading to Ohio in a few months to look for a bride since there is a lack of eligible women in their community. Levi puts his foot (and sometimes his whole leg) into his mouth on more than one occasion when chatting with Esther. I laughed often while reading this book. I loved Esther’s keen mind and her interest in learning how to renovate the bathroom. Levi kept trying to keep Esther from using his power tools (it was a losing battle). It sounded like she created a gorgeous bathroom floor. The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unexpected Baby is not all rainbows and sunshine. Esther’s sister, Ivy is a piece of work. She is a manipulative woman. We get to see, though, that there is always two sides to every story. Each person has their own perspective on a situation. Levi’s grandmother, Hannah is another great character. She is a quilter who has a blog with followers all over the world. It was interesting learning about pickleball. I had never heard of it before this book. I liked that the author had the Amish in this story doing things that I have not seen in any other Amish novel. I enjoyed reading this amusing and unique Amish novel. Jennifer Beckstrand did it again with The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unexpected Baby. I was sorry when the story ended. I am eager to read The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law. The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unexpected Baby is a charming Amish tale with quality quilts, a blubbering baby, a scheming sister, power tool turmoil, pickleball play, and a tile tour de force.

I love how absolutely vibrant this author's characters are! Esther is strong and independent, but the new challenge of caring for her sister's baby brings all her frustrations and insecurities to the surface. Levi was in the right place at the right time to come to her aid, and I loved seeing his friendship with Esther develop and how his opinion of her shifted. I think my favorite mannerism of Esther's was her tendency to throw and attack things in order to work out her rage and anger. It's definitely not what a person thinks a typical Amish reaction would be! The situation she finds herself in is very realistic, with conflicting emotions of love and resentment for her sister. Her quilting friends are full of personality and an important source of support for Esther. I was glued to the pages as Esther's life and future takes a complete 180 and Levi get taken along for the ride. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

Esther's life is turned upside down when her estranged sister drops off her infant daughter on Esther's doorstep.

At thirty Esther is considered a spinster, and she knows little about caring for a baby. She is determined to make the best out of the situation, I loved how the women of the community befriend her and help her to deal with both Winnie and her sister Ivy. Esther is creative but orderly, she takes pride in her work, and has a stubborn streak that adds to her charm.

Engaging from the very beginning this is a charming romantic comedy with a great plot, and well written characters. I especially liked the banter between Levi and Esther as they work together. Levi is a wonderful friend and he is there for Esther when she needs him, and though things don't always go as planned, his heart is always in the right place.

Overall, a quick read, with characters that you can cheer for all the way through. I liked that Esther is a little older, and how that comes into play throughout the story. A engaging story of faith, friendship, family, and love that will bring a smile to your face!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I chose to read this as my next book because I love this author's books. They always are humorous and right now--I needed a few good laughs. And right from the start, that's how this book started.
I really enjoyed the lighthearted read. It was enjoyable. Also the baby! What a challenge to have an unhappy baby that never sleeps. And I can certainly relate to that!

If you want to have an enjoyable read, this one is just that. I just loved it.

I received an ebook copy from NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

I haven’t read a full on Amish romance in years and this was a good foray back into the genre. Featuring long-suffering older sister, Esther, who must reconcile her age and spinster status and a complex relationship with her troubled younger sister , while raising her sister’s baby and falling in love with Levi. I overall enjoyed this- the build of the drama was excellent, I only wish we had gotten more on-depth coverage of the drama and the resolution, instead of having a lot of detail on a slow build but never getting to the point.

Overall this was a great and would recommend to fans of an inspirational romance because while the Christian faith piece is present, it is very incidental.

Colorado - April-December

Family is a big part of the story, especially for Esther. Esther and Levi tell the story. They and their families are quite different. The romance was okay. It got better as the characters got better. I didn't like everything that happened, especially involving Ivy. Ivy was difficult to read about. She goes out of her way to make people unhappy.

Well this was fun to read. And challenging to read. And sometimes I wanted to shake Esther for being dense and a push over. BUT that’s part of what made this charming book one that I couldn’t put down.

Well developed characters who you either love or…..don’t love. An adorable baby that only Levi can handle. And redemption. All wrapped up in one book. I highly recommend it!

The Amish Quiltmakers Unexpected Baby is a fantastic story written by Jennifer Beckstrand in her new series Amish Quiltmakers. I absolutely loved the characters in this story. They are quirky, humorous, and loving. The author always has a way of injecting humor into her stories that make for an interesting read. I love the build up to the conclusion which definitely kept my interest. This story is filled with humor, sadness, forgiveness, and family. The characters strong faith helps them through some very difficult times. This is another great start for this authors new series and I look forward to more.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions expressed are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

The Amish Quiltmaker's Unexpected Baby is the first book in Jennifer Beckstrand's newest series.

Esther Zook is an eccentric Amish spinster who has moved to a new community to start a new life for herself. When her estranged sister leaves her infant with her, Esther is horrified and has no idea what to do with a baby. Enter the young handsome Levi Kiem who seems to know everything about babies--and repairing bathrooms.

I appreciated that the author kept the characters focused on God and working on forgiveness. Unfortunately, I struggled with the believability of the story, especially when it came to some of Esther's quirks. I would have liked to see a lot more character development as well. However, the book was otherwise well-written and a quick read, and Winnie's character was adorable.

*I received a complimentary copy of The Amish Quiltmaker's Unexpected Baby through the publisher and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My positive review is not required.

Jennifer Beckstrand has done it again, written a book filled with so much emotion.
She writes a different type of Amish story, and this one includes lots of friends and family.
There is jealousy, anger, love, and lots of compassion. At times I wanted to shake Esther, she was so kind and Ivy is such a spoiled brat, but keep reading as the reason unfold, and no, I couldn’t imagine what happened.
I also couldn’t imagine a mother, and I know it does happen, abandoning her baby, and then her sister not knowing how to take care of one.
There are some very funny moments, and you will be chuckling out loud, and the mind pictures are hilarious!
I am so glad that this is the beginning of a new series, and I can’t wait for the next book!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Keningston, and was not required to give a positive review.

The Amish Quiltmaker's Unexpected Baby by Jennifer Beckstrand is a charming Amish romance with a relatable storyline.

Thirty year old Esther Zook is settling into her new life in Byler, CO when her estranged sister Ivy shows up. Ivy jumped the fence years ago and Esther has rarely seen her in the intervening years. This visit is a shock since Ivy has her newborn baby girl with her. After staying a brief time, Ivy takes off with Esther’s money but leaves baby Winter behind. Esther does not know anything about babies so she is grateful when plumber Levi Kiem stops by. She is even more appreciative when Levi proves to be experienced with babies and sends his family over lend a hand. Esther and Levi become friends over the course of several months and both are smitten with her niece. But how will they react when Ivy unexpectedly returns?

Esther has good reason not to trust Ivy so she reluctantly allows her and the baby to stay with her. Their once close relationship rapidly deteriorated during the years leading up to Ivy running away. Esther has made peace with the fact she will remain a spinster so she has never spent much time around babies. At first completely out of her depth, she is shocked when realizes how much she loves Winnie. Esther is also rather surprised at how much she enjoys Levi’s company.

At twenty-four, Levi remains unmarried due to a dearth of young women in their Amish community. He is more than happy to help Esther but he makes it clear he only considers her a friend. He likes spending time with her but his plan to seek a bride out of state has not changed. Levi is aware of the situation between the two sisters but he is completely unprepared to deal with Ivy.

The youngest of the Zook children, Ivy is spoiled and does not give Esther’s feelings much consideration. She is also very manipulative and vindictive when things do not go her way. Broke and with no place to live, Ivy’s eventual return to Esther’s home is not much of a surprise. Despite Esther’s uneasiness at letting Ivy back into her life, she does not turn her away. Unsettled, she does everything she can to placate Ivy because of her very real fear that her sister will leave and take Winnie with her.  But what will Esther have to give up in order to keep Ivy happy?

The Amish Quiltmaker's Unexpected Baby is an entertaining Amish romance with quirky characters and a realistic storyline. Esther is an independent woman who is afraid of getting her heart broken again. Levi is a likable young man with a giving nature. Ivy is not easy to like but has potential if she is willing to change her ways. The friendship between Esther and Levi is quite heartwarming but will they have the opportunity to explore their deepening feelings for each other?

This first book in Jennifer Beckstrand’s The Amish Quiltmaker series is sure to be a hit with readers of Amish fiction.

The Amish Quiltmaker's Unexpected Baby by Jennifer Beckstrand
Yet just as a quilt is crafted from contrasting cloth, they might find that together, they can create a family to cherish . . .
This is Esther Zook and Levi Kiem's story.
Esther Zook had four hundred and thirty-five reasons to run screaming from the house and never come back. But she wasn’t really a screamer, and she’d certainly never been much of a runner. She found it completely incomprehensible that people actually ran for fun. But most of them were Englischers, and she’d never been able to understand much of what Englischers did, so her confusion was expected.
Instead of screaming or banging her head against the refrigerator, Esther stood in the middle of her tiny kitchen and read Ivy’s letter over and over again. After all Esther had done for her sister, this was how Ivy repaid her? The world had turned upside upside down, topsy-turvy in a matter of seconds. And then the buplie, the baby, started crying.
her. He reached down and picked up Ivy’s baby and cradled her in his arms like Esther had seen gute mothers do. The baby immediately stopped crying. Esther caught her bottom lip between her teeth. She probably should have tried that.
The stranger cooed and bounced the baby like he knew what he was doing. Did he have his own children? He didn’t have a beard, so he probably wasn’t married, but for sure and certain, he seemed like the fatherly type.
I highly recommend reading.
The Amish Quiltmaker's Unexpected Baby by Jennifer Beckstrand is a wonderful well written 5 star book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by Jennifer Beckstrand.

This was so cute! I have read a couple of Jennifer Beckstrand’s books and I always enjoyed reading them. The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unexpected Baby is Jennifer Beckstrand’s newest book. Esther Zook is just trying to start over after the death of her father, but her sister has other plans for her and abandons her baby with Esther. Esther has accepted her status as an old maid, but can she be a mother? Luckily she has Levi Kiem, the eligible young man who’s making repairs on her house to help her. But he has no interest in Esther other than a friend. However, the more time Levi spends with Esther, the more intrigued he is by this feisty independent woman.
Esther was such an amazing independent woman. I was so jealous of her crafting abilities. I loved reading about her with Winter or Winnie, which they called her. It was so sweet how she tried so hard to be a good mother. Although Esther did not feel prepared to be a mother, she did her best and she wanted what was best for Winnie. Esther had to learn what it meant to love Winnie and her sister, Ivy. Esther would have to find that God’s plan is better than her own.
Levi was funny! I liked him from the moment I read about him. He was kind and he loved children, however, he could be a little conceited. It was sweet to read about him helping Esther with Winnie. However, he needed to get over himself and his ideas about a perfect wife. I loved reading about him falling in love with Esther and Winnie. Levi had to learn to trust God’s plan and what it meant to love Esther.
Esther and Levi had to work together to care for Winnie. However, their biggest obstacle would be figuring out how to protect Winnie and keep her safe although she does not legally belong to them. The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unexpected Baby was a great book! It is now one of my favorite Beckstrand books. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.

I must confess that Jennifer Beckstrand is one of my favorite Amish genre authors! This book, the first in her new series, was not a disappointment.....I LOVE IT!!! When you find yourself laughing, in the early pages of a book, you know it is going to be a fun read!

Esther Zook, moved to Colorado, after her father died. She bought a small house, just big enough for her and her quilt business. She is starting over as a 3o year old "maedel". But she is satisfied with her life.....UNTIL....her sister, Ivy, who has been gone 8 years, returns and she is not alone!!! She has an infant daughter, Winter, but no husband. As life would have it....Ivy leaves one night and Esther is left to take care of a baby. Esther has no baby skills and latches onto the first person who comes through her door, that morning to assist in changing Winter's full diaper....Levi Keim, a contractor that has come to fix her bathroom!!

Now, the fun begins, but as we all know, fun is usually tempered with serious life altering issues and there are plenty of those, in this little house. But as life would have it, Levi becomes a person who not only can change diapers, he can teach Esther to remodel her bathroom. After all, every old maid needs to know plumbing!!! Levi draws a line, though, when Esther wants to use his power tools!!

Levi, a single Amish man, is being sent to Ohio, by his father, to find a suitable wife. As time goes on, and Levi, becomes more involved in Winnie's life, he let's Eshter know, in no uncertain terms, that she is definitely too old for him and she plays the old people's game of pickle ball. Fine with Esther, but it turns out to be not so fine as time goes one.

Pull up your favorite chair, grab a soft blanket and a warm drink, light your best candle and sit back to enjoy the evening!!! You will read this book until the last page is turned and be waiting for more!!! I loved it and can't wait for the second book to come out!!! Thank so much Jennifer Beckstrand.....another great read!!!

After the death of her parents, Esther Zook bought a house and has made a small but nice living for herself making quilts. At the age of thirty, the last thing she expects is to become a mother but she finds herself taking care of her niece Winter (Winnie) when her long lost sister Ivy appears just long enough to leave Winnie with Esther before taking off again. Esther knows nothing about babies and would be totally lost if it wasn’t for the help of Levi Kiem who is supposed to be fixing her bathroom but find himself helping Esther take care of Winnie instead. Esther and Levi grow close but neither thinks they can have a relationship because Levi is six years younger. Will these two learn to listen to what is in their hearts?

“The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unexpected Baby” is a wonderfully done Amish Romance by Jennifer Beckstrand. Her books are always a delight and this is no exception. Beckstrand is a delightfully humorous author and it is really evident in this book – there were times when I laughed out loud especially at the dialogue between Esther and Levi and Esther’s penchant for sticking random items behind her ear. They are a delightful pair: Esther struggling to do the right thing with Winnie but ever fearful that her manipulative sister Ivy will return; Levi wants what is best for Esther – his heart is in the right place but sometimes he does the wrong thing. They are surrounded by a delightful cast of friends and family – both Amish and English that makes this a fun book to read. As for Ivy – she is a complex, not very likable yet troubled character. By the end of the book, I can’t say I liked her, but I do hope Beckstrand features her in another book so that her complete story can be told.

“The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unexpected Baby” is a nicely done Amish Romance.

First sentence: Esther Zook had four hundred and thirty-five reasons to run screaming from the house and never come back. But she wasn't really a screamer, and she'd certainly never been much of a runner.

When the novel opens, Esther Zook finds herself in a predicament. Her younger sister, Ivy, has stolen her money and left her with a young infant, Winter. Now Esther, despite being Amish, despite being thirty plus, knows absolutely nothing--N-O-T-H-I-N-G--about babies or children. So a knock on the door comes as great relief--whoever it is might know how to change a diaper. Fortunately, the knock on the door turns out to be an Amish man--a plumber--who is very good with babies. He knows what side of a baby the diaper goes on. Levi turns out to be a big part of this one--as you might expect. (Because we all know true and lasting love is just one knock away, right?! Especially when you're an old-maid spinster (by her own reckoning and the reckoning of her Amish community).

Will Esther, Levi, and baby Winter make a happy little family?! Don't expect it to be that easy. That would be like two chapters to get off that easy. No, if Esther wants a happily ever after she'll have to face plenty of obstacles to earn it.

The book is set in Colorado. Esther is newly moved to the area and still making friends. She moved there specifically to be close to her favorite Amish blogger, a fellow quilter.

I will say that while some things feel familiar about this Amish romance, it is an original journey these two go on.

It is also more than just a romance. One major element of the story is the TENSE relationship between estranged sisters Esther and Ivy.

I liked this one I did. At times it felt a little long if I'm being completely honest. I cared about the characters, but some parts of the book seemed to drag just a little.

Esther Zook would be considered an old maid in Amish standards. She had several good reasons. Her mother died and she took care of her father in his illness and because of her younger sister Lily. Lily had jumped the fence when she was 18 and ran away with a boy. Esther was left to clean up the emotional mess that she had left her family. With the death of her father and the money he had left her, she is now moving to a Amish community in Colorado where a well known quiltmaker lives. Nannah Kiem. has invited Esther to live in a Colorado and found a small house for her live. Esther is a quiltmaker herself and with all that she has dealt with the past finds quiltmaking therapeutic and a way to make money for herself. However, everything changes when Lily her long last sister comes to visit her in Colorado and leaves her infant Winnie because she cannot take care of her. Esther is left with the responsibility that should be Lily's. She is not good with babies that it is very comical. It gets better when Levi Kiem doing a bath remodel for Esther steps up to help her. Their friendship over Winnie is very endearing that leads them to connection with complications.

I found this Amish romance to be well rounded in humor, likable characters, and life lessons. One being the relationship Esther had with her sister. She was faced with the truth that her sister was very controlling and Esther had to chose losing herself or a good desire. The hard choices in life can be death to our souls if we are not careful. Highly recommended.

A special thank you to Kensington Books and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

This is the first book in The Amish Quiltmaker series. Esther Zook is a thirty-year-old Amish woman who has moved to an Amish community in Colorado after the death of her parents. She has four older brothers, but doesn't want to be dependent on them or have to live with them. Thus, her decision to move and embark on a new life. She also has a younger sister Ivy who denounced her family and Amish life eight years earlier and struck out on her own. Now, belligerent and defiant Ivy has shown up on Esther's doorstep with a baby seeking help. One morning, Esther arises to discover Ivy has left and taken Esther's money that she had hidden, but Ivy left her baby, Winter, in Esther's care. Enter Levi Kiem, a twenty-four-year-old Amish man, who has come to make some repairs to Esther's bathroom.

This is where my believe-o-meter started dinging. Esther literally yanks Levi into the house and asks him if he knows how to change a diaper. Really?? A thirty-year-old Amish woman with four older brothers and probably one or all of them are married with children and she hasn't observed or doesn't know how to change a diaper. That is just beyond believable.

I thought the basic premise of the story was intriguing, but there were elements of the story and characters that I had a hard time believing. Details are important and they need to be well researched and authentic. The book had a strong ending and that was its most redeeming quality.

Thank you to Goodreads and Kensington for the gift of this book that I received in a giveaway.

The Amish Quiltmakers Unexpected Baby by Jennifer Beckstrand is book 1 in the Amish Quiltmakers Series
This is the story of Esther Zook and Levi Kiem. Esther is eager to start fresh after her fathers death, she wants nothing better than to work on her beautiful quilts and built her new life that is until her wayward sister abandons her new baby on Easters door step.
Levi has had plenty of marriage prospects, even his father wants to send him to Ohio to find a fraa (wife), but when he starts working for Esther he becomes more and more intrigued.
Jennifer Beckstrand has a unique way of intertwining a little bit of humor into her writing so it’s as if when your reading you are transported into a real conversations, your right there with the characters, you will want to pull your hair out with this one, sister Ivy will test your patients and yet just maybe your heart will go out to her as well. Just as a quilt has shapes and shadows, we can also see or not see the same in our life or others? Can we learn to cherish all the differences, accept that and maybe even understand their differences which if we think about it that is what makes the quilt so very unique so if we love that in the quilt can’t we love that in others. This is a very good book. I think you will like it as much as I did.

Esther has moved to Colorado for a fresh start after her parents' death. She has settled into her house with her quiltmaking business and has made friends. One day her sister, who has been away from the faith for years, shows up with a baby and leaves the baby with Esther. Esther soon finds herself overwhelmed. Levi, the young man renovating her bathroom, realizes Esther needs help and asks his grandmother to help Esther. Settle in for a wild Amish ride of laughter and tears.

Oh my, I have found a series that is as much fun as the Huckleberry series by Jennifer Beckstrand. I love the quirky characters she creates. This book has its serious moments but plenty of laughing moments as well.

In book one of the Amish Quiltmaker, we meet Esther and Levi. Esther is hilarious between her apricot throwing and the things she puts behind her ears. "You just never know when you are going to need that item!" Levi is the perfect match for Esther in his calm manner and ability to see things from all perspectives. He reminds me of my hubby.

A fun book to read for ages teenage and above. A clean read. I listened to a bit of the audiobook and the narrator is wonderful. She really captures the essence of the characters.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, Kensington, through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Finding God’s path for you even if it’s uncomfortable and scary

I loved Ester and Levi’s sweet Amish romance. The story is filled with all the emotions, the connections and the love plus, real relatable issues are addressed and resolved. Ester has recently moved to a new Amish community. Her non-Amish sister unexpectedly abandons her baby at Ester’s house. Just as she discovers the abandoned baby, Levi shows up to work on Ester’s bathroom. It’s a fun and emotional meet cute. On the way to their HEA, Ester and Levi have to deal with miscommunication, manipulative family members, painful pasts in order to learn to trust their own hearts and beliefs to find their way to a loving, respectful, and faith based relationship. This book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, strong friendships and family, real life issues, imperfect characters, misunderstandings, laughs, and so much love. Jennifer Beckstrand did a phenomenal job of drawing me into the tale which allowed me to feel a part of the story and the characters’ lives rather than a simple observer. The emotions, issues, and challenges the characters face are universal and could easily be experienced in any segment of society. Expect to feel all the feels when you read this book - joy, sorrow, anxiety, love, and relief. You’ll definitely laugh, cry, gasp, and grit your teeth.
