Lisa Blackwood is the USA Today bestselling author of the Gargoyle and Sorceress Urban Fantasy series. She and her new co-author, S.M. Schmitz, are also embarking upon a new Space Opera Romance series. Book one is titled, Vengeance: Warships of the Spire. It can be found in the Dominion Rising boxset anthology.

As well as writing, Lisa is also an avid gardener, horse enthusiast, and dog lover. She grudgingly lives in a small town in Southern Ontario, though she would much rather live deep in a dark forest, surrounded by majestic old-growth trees. Since she cannot live her fantasy, she decided to write fantasy instead. Freya, her ever faithful and beloved hellhound, ensures Lisa takes breaks from the computer so they can rid the garden of cats with delusions of conquest.

I'd gotten the box set because I'd read the first few books and wanted to know how it ends. Well, I mostly enjoyed the journey but I couldn't concentrate on the ending because the book was full of typos. Words would be replaced with synonyms and verbs would be used in the wrong tense. If I hadn't gotten it cheap, I would've stopped reading and returned the box set for a refund.

I lost sleep because this was better entertainment

I’m so tired. I got this on the evening of Monday 9/14 and have missed so much sleep between then and now (Fri 9/18)... it’s ridiculous. The storyline was perfect - not boring and not attempting to be over the top. The characters were believable and well fleshed out without being too descriptive.

There were some story flaws - where one thing was completely possible (due to being outside the characters, looking in) but the characters insisted it was impossible. Of course, with this build up, one would think the characters would show surprise when they found out a certain thing was possible - instead, it was written with a shrug in a couple sentences, belying the dramatic build up that took a few paragraphs sprinkled through a couple chapters. This issue annoyed me based on the beauty of the rest of the writing (the editors should have caught this!), but only happened about 2.5 times through the 8(?) books, so not terrible.

Conflict reasons for character development are great, but they were solved to soon/easily in the end. The story is a fantasy, but the characters seem so relatable and real that, to fall flat with their healing was kind of a disappointment (again, why didn’t the editors/publisher/w.e. not point this out? These changes aren’t monumental, wouldn’t have needed too much more sentences/paragraphs, but it would have made this tale more of a masterpiece than an intrigue... please, author, get new editors/publishers/w.e. Your art deserves more than they’re giving you!)

Please read, but don’t do as I have: get some freakin’ sleep so you can still function and get through work!

I’m looking forward to the next instalments - I hope they are pleasantly long!

Is there a supernatural creature that doesn't have a story in the boxset? I found gargoyles and socercerers (obviously!), vampires, dryads, sirens, riven and so many more. Whether part of the main story, or one of the side stories, these creatures and the emotions they possess make for wonderful fantasy tales. Lillian truly grows into her powers as the stories progress. There is more than meets the eye at first glance. In order to fully appreciate the over-reaching arc of the story, these must be read in order so the boxset, while lengthy, is perfect for this.

I don't like endless batles in books normally but this one has been so different to read. I enjoyed every single battle scene and all the humour in between. It stirred my emotions all the way through and I thoroughly enjoyed every single page. Some books although I enjoy the story there will always be some pages I skim. Not this series. it kept me entertained and literally on the edge of my seat and I was in tears by the end of it all and can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series next year. Thank you for an enjoyable read.

I read books 1-9 of Gargoyle &Sorceress , they were well written Fantasy Stories. Loved the characters, their lives and all the little details the author Lisa Blackwood dream up for the world of 3 realms; of humans ,spirits, demons, blood witch, succubus and the list goes on.
Between battles & Demigods there is also a love story & good\evil

Loved the stories Author did an excellent job & I enjoyed that I was able to imagine the story due to Lisa Blackwood great imagination.

Love, love, love this series.

I am so very sad that I am done reading this series. It captured my attention and my heart from the start, I looked forward to reading it each day, and was glad that I had the whole series to read.
The characters are so fun, and the books are written in such a way that you become very involved with their struggles and lives.
It was not a typical ho hum fantasy. It has love, a very bad guy to struggle against, and hope at the end for all. I really enjoyed this and am looking forward to the next series.

This was a wonderful series filled with supernatural creatures from dryads, gargoyles, vampires, and many more. The main storyline is about Lillian, a dryad, and her protector Gregory, a gargoyle. There are also several secondary storylines that really round out the series.
Ms. Blackwood does a remarkable job of describing her characters and scenes. You will be engrossed in this series before you finish the prequel.

Powerful stuff

I did not particularly enjoy the beginning of the story as I thought some of the bad language was gratuitous and did not come across like it added any realism to the situations, and very nearly stopped reading. But so pleased now that I carried on to the end, what a great read. I would recommend this to older audience, as there are a few drops of strong language but that takes a back seat in this magical ride of words

Highly enjoyable fantasy

I was introduced to a whole lot of far I hadn’t known about! And it was rather good that so many of them got on so well. Shapeshifting obviously got over some of the problems that might come from far of different body proportions having romantic relationships. Good to know that baddies can also be goodies. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a well-written book that mostly just wants to entertain you.

I have been intrigued by gargoyles since becoming a fan of the tv series so I was excited to see a box set full of gargoyle related stories. At first there was interesting twists to this story, but then the enemies kept stacking up and the sexual parts seemed to be placed just to have them there and I found myself stumbling over the details. I think the author and stories have potential but too much too soon. It felt like a word dump of sorts.

Inspiring read

Took a star of for the final book. Why the author choose to use so many different names for the gargoyles and othe magic users, just made it so hard to follow.I also feel let down by the final battle, most of it was about going up and down the battle field, more individualsbattles were a sideline rather than part of the main story. But that aside it was a good read not a cany put down book. But enough to get you reading to the end

Disappointing

The first chapter was repeated entirely in the following 2 chapters. There were endless repeats of other parts as well.
It felt like swaths of story were missing and you simply jumped from point a to point c several times.
Jason was entirely useless as a character. He needed far more backstory to be of any interest.
The human military commanding the magic military that's been around for millions of years... That's a stretch even for fantasy writing.

Skip the first chapter in the first book because it's a flashback and just gets repeated in the next. I was seriously interested in our characters and the overall world. The plot is jumpy though. Then they go on to; they're really attracted to each other but it's forbidden that they ever be together by the gods, and I said I was was not going to torture myself with 8 books of that. Pity.

Wonderful Paranormal Romance

I really enjoyed each book in this box set. I wanted to know the ending, but at the same time, I did not want to leave this world behind.

In the battle of good versus evil, not only is good triumphant but there is redemption, for some of evil's minions.

I love a good epic story. This was everything and more. I love when a while series can be purchased as one. I can't wait to see the spinoff series from this one. The storyline was excellently developed. I fell in love with all of the characters. I think there are a lot of possibilities of what comes next!

It was fantastic

It’s like your living their lives with them. I really hated to see the end of the last book. I loved the way it all flowed together with no “starting each book” and it just seemed one continued story.
