9-year-old Paul Donnelly has been many things in his life. Son of addicts, high school dropout, tattooist, the shameless bodyguard to Beckett Cobalt, the “bodyguard camp counselor” to the rookies of SFO, Loren Hale’s nemesis, and Xander’s wise one.

But nothing means as much without Luna Hale. The sci-fi-loving writer. A weirdo. Sister to his client. The only one he’s fallen for.

To be with Luna, he has to ensure it’s totally, completely, unmistakably safe. That starts with taking care of his family—the family he walked away from as a teenager.

He knows he’ll survive. He can survive anything. But this time, he just wants to survive with her.

Take an epic cosmic journey with Luna & Donnelly through heartache, hope, darkness, love, and an unceasing light—where the bonds we make are what power us through time.

GIVE ME CHARLIES BOOKS PLEASEEEEE

k lets get one thing straight here... everyone probs already knows about my rage with kbr, but with every book they release i just wanna hate them more. idk what is going in this book tbh too many things i hate not enough things i like.

YOU KNOW THE FUCKING DRILL, spoilers spoilers!!!

things i loved:

Sulli tosses a catnip mouse. “Like just yesterday, Charlie said I’m too dumb to help solve the fucking assault on Beckett.”

- YES CHARLIE MY MAN MY LOVER MY SOUL !!!!!! SULLI DESERVES ALL THE CRAP U GIVE HER, my man. sulli needs to sit down and take charlies name outta her whore mouth, at the rate she's going i feel like she has incest feelings for charlie

- i love my cobalts i just love them

- some small cute lunnelly scenes

some things i hate:

- the first chapter with luna going all psycho over something so SOOOOO stupid. i mean seriously this girl needs therapy. just bc lo told donnelly "not yet" to dating luna doesnt excuse her recking her whole room and throwing bookshelves, contemplating jumping off the roof, and screaming as if she's being tortured. like grow a fucking pair girl, ur fucking 20 years old who the fuck cares if ur daddy is hesitant on u dating R U FUCKING SERIOUS

- im tired of donnellys victim act, its actually so fucking annoying like U TOO GROW A FUCKING PAIR, omg where are ur balls dude bc istg (and i cant believe im saying this) sulli had more courage and game than u

- why is that we got a whole ass biology and history on donnellys family tree, we get it he has 4933 billion cousins and uncles, WHY FUCKING NAME EACH ONE its not like we fucking care or understand, and they all had to have the same names

- idk what kbr were thinking making this like an action film, istg everyone thought they were james bond, i for a sec forgot what i was reading and thought this was some kind of drug lord mafia book, wtffff

- kbr also adding like 18991 other characters into this book for the first time and im just??? where are the ones we actually love and care about, why????

- lets also not forget why i actually am hating on kbr... the cobalt hate is so strong with these sisters, like WHY, first jane barely gets any books, then we dont even get a wedding scene bc sulli and her two bitches decide to skip the wedding to fuck , then jane gets preg (yayayya) but sulli the competitive bitch cant let that jane have the spotlight even for a second, right? so she gets pregs too directly, AND NOW jane delivers the baby on a street and THATCHER ISNT EVEN there. WHY KBR CAN U GIVE THEM A BREAAKKK im sick of yall LET THE GIRL HAVE A MOMENT

mind u this all happens in the first 30%...

- wow great, the first time lunnelly had sex, they were making dino noises and alien weird tentacle shit and now second time they doing it while shes on her period, great I CAN FUCKING SMELL IT THROUGH MY FUCKING KINDLE

“Charlie.” Sulli makes a soured face. “I can’t believe you like Charlie more than Beckett. It’s like preferring raisins over chocolate chips.”

- im sorry who let this bitch open her mouth? raisins and chocolate chips are at least edible, sulli's legit dog shit: stinky, dirty, and disgusting and just annoying

- i hate that kbr are trying make lo seem so sweet and idk what? its giving u dont know ur characters anymore and just writing out of ur ass

- what is this book? a fucking fast and furious/ mission impossible retelling? why do i have to fucking have a rush with all the blood and beating up and kidnapping LIKE CALM DOWN WHY CANT CHARACTERS HAVE SOME PEACE. tell me WHYYY

- all this crap and they had to pull out the amnesia trope

- the way luna was SNIFFING him like some dog i cant it wasnt even in a cute way it was legiT SNIFF SNIFF SNIFF WOOF WOOF WOOF

- i hate how we only got 1 scene of core 6

- no mention of audrey

- just the whole book went down the drain after the amnesia, i mean i can handle 2-3 chapters but for more than half the book and SHE STILL DOESNT REMEMBER? nah im out

- i kid u not idk what happened i just i cant

- the ending???????

- im pretty sure there is a bunch that i left out just bc im too tired to get all picky and shit but BUT this book isn't a romance book. NO ROMANCE WHATSOEVER kbr if u so badly wanna write other books go ahead its not like anyone will read them, but adding all those crime and action film tropes into these? u'll get hate bc this world isnt about that, how did we get from high class people actually dealing with real emotions to cartoon la la land and druggies and speed racing whatnot

the only reason this isn’t one star is because i adore luna and donnelly way too much. it physically pains me to give them one star— so they get an extra one for their insane chemistry and the cosmic way they love each other. but the rest?

…in my opinion, this is probably the worst book KBR have ever written across their entire ten-year career… and ive read all three of Sulli’s books :) i mean it with the upmost sincerity, truly. they stooped so low with this book.

Lily stans need to buckle up, like i am mad on yalls behalf 😭

full rtc because i really need to collect myself rn

It genuinely hurts me to give a kbr book two stars but I couldn’t ignore how there were too many scenes that just did not work for me or which I felt shouldn’t have happened. It was ridiculous and pissed me off more than I realised.

Just to make it easier for myself and you, I’m gonna put my jumbled thoughts into sections so I can pretend I made a coherent review <3

The good:

➜ LorenDonnelly banter scenes. Omf I LOVED them. Not only their banter but the progression in their relationship, the silent nods, the shared pain, them sharing their pasts, the quips & jabs ugh just everything.

╰┈➤ they were the only reason I ever truly cried in the first book and this one. There was no connection I felt as deeply as I did theirs.

╰┈➤ reading about how Donnelly was left wanting a present parent and him respecting how lo was that to his kids made me wanna cryyyy. I love Donnelly with my whole heart pls he’s like a puppy you don’t ever wanna stop cuddling 😭

╰┈➤ i NEED Loren to step up, finally accept him and shower him with all the love bc I can’t take it anymore

➜ that one lunnelly scene where they kissed on a spinning chair 💞💘🦋☹️✋ that was sooooo cute pls I wanna go cry in a corner ugh it made me feel so single help.

➜ Donnelly, Oscar & Farrow. OMFDS every scene with them together bantering or just sharing space made me so happy that they have each other. Their friendship is one of the best things to happen in this series.

➜ Charlie + Beckett. Just them. These CRUMBS were not enough!

➜ Froggy & Quinn - PLSSSS I NEED THEIR BOOK RTFN

The meh:

➜ Luna’s half baked books and the fanaticon tv show wtv. I couldn’t care less I’m sorry.

➜ Xander and his relationship with Luna.

➜ the other couples. Like okay babes I get it they’re happy and in love but can we just shift the focus! It’s either this or the other couples are going thru shit and they’re adding drama I don’t even care about. Leave them alone.

The rage inducing:

➜ Going into this book, lunnelly was (and still is in some ways) one of my favourite couples from this series but the route the plot took their relationship has me furious. There were so many- SO MANY ways to create conflict but they chose *that*?! WHYYYYYYY. It’s one of my most hated tropes and it being used for this couple makes me wanna cry and throw up.

➜ the Lily/Luna car scene Iykyk. That got me MAXED OUTTTT. There was no reason for it to be taken that far!

➜ still putting that aside, the first half was more about the family and every other relationship except Lunnelly and I was like wtf. We got a handful of scenes with them actually together alone in one room.

╰┈➤ Considering the first book also gave us nothing on that front either but I ignored it bc I thought okay it’s only their first book, maybe the second will deliver on the romance… yeah no. That did not happen. Actually it went and reversed everything that was done! I’m fed up honestly.

➜ even tho I cried quite a few times during the book, it doesn’t change the fact that this book was severely lacking in the romance aspect. I mean wtf ur selling this as a romance book but barely serving any, it’s embarrassing.

╰┈➤ I’m incensed bc I’ve been waiting on this book since it was announced and then this is what I get??

The only reason I’ll be reading the next book is bc I wanna know who they were referring to in the last line, and to see LorenDonelly banter scenes, nothing else.

TL;DR: This book was disappointing.

Side note:
That last line better be alluding to Samantha Calloway/ Rykes mum or imma be dusting my tools 🔪

“You’re something else.”
“Something hot.” I put it out there.
He touches his chest. “Do I look like your girlfriend?”
“Nah, ‘cause I don’t have one.”
“Music to my ears.”
“Knew we didn’t have the same music taste.”
Lo begins to smile, and so do I.
~they’re the best thing to ever come out of this book

“It seems like too many people in my life are vying to be Donnelly’s number one thought, his number one concern, and I understand the yearning.”

Sulli tosses a catnip mouse. “Like just yesterday, Charlie said I’m too dumb to help solve the fucking assault on Beckett.”
~lol Charlie’s such a savage I love him

“What if we fail it?”
Frog shifts her weight, then asks him, “Are you looking at me?”
“I wasn’t looking at you,” Quinn says more softly.
~THE CRUMBSSSS I NEED THEIR BOOK RTFN

“Nice T-shirt,” I compliment. “You like AC/DC?”
“I don’t listen to them a ton,” she admits, watching me with parted lips. “I didn’t know I had this shirt.”

~cuteeeee

“You should start writing again. It might help.”
Tom grins. “You hear that Luna, Charlie misses reading your smut.”

“The way you look at me, Luna…” He seems overwhelmed. “How am I looking at you?” I’m trapped in his orbit, not wanting to be set loose. “I’m the hero of your story.”

After reading Misfits Like Us, and loving it soooo much, I was worried this wouldn't measure up. It had a lot to live up to... I shouldn't have been. This was just as good as it's predecessor. LiLo may be my favorite fictional couple and I'm obsessed with the Hales, but Donnelly and Luna are a close second favorite. I love them that much!

Unlucky Like Us takes place right after 'Misfits' left off. This one has twists and turns I didn't see coming and that ending has me stunned! I hope we get the next book in this series sooner rather than later, but I'll wait however long I have to ;)

Once again the Donnelly/Loren relationship was elite. I adore Xander so much and Luna and Donnelly together was everything! My favorite couple of weirdos that can just be themselves with each other. Sigh. It's so good! Definitely will be on my top favorites list of the year.
Donnelly has made me feel like my galaxy is the happiest, most exhilarating place to be, even if I’m the only one there.

The amnesia trope will be the death of me one of these days. How does she get post-traumatic amnesia by the 50% mark and doesn't get her memories back at all even by the end of the book?!?! It felt completely unnecessary, and her thought process became so repetitive that it honestly felt like I was reading the same chapter over and over during her POVs.

For almost the entire second half of the book, her internal monologue just kept looping: "Am I the original Luna?", "Does he love her more than me?", "He loves her, but he’ll never love me.", "Wait, she was friends with so-and-so? I could never.", "She was so much better than me.", "Omg I missed out on [insert important life detail]??"
Babes you're the same person!! And it didn’t matter that everyone told her this, she kept acting like she was a completely different person from her past self. I kid you not, she was referring to her past self as “she” and not “I”, which got so annoying pretty fast.
I get how Luna's character is and I absolutely adored her in the previous books, but this was just not it. And I understand that this was done to excite us for the next book or whatever, but I hate when things are dragged out with no real purpose.

I was itching to give this book a lower rating but the 3 stars are mainly because I enjoyed everything aside from the amnesia mess. And because of how much I love Donnelly and how he loves Luna so deeply. I also absolutely loved seeing his relationship with Lo develop, it was the best part of the book.

┆ ⤿ “𝙃𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙨 𝙢𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙄’𝙢 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙤𝙤𝙣. 𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙨. 𝙇𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙄’𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚

He does actually ɵ̷̥̥᷄ˬɵ̷̥̥᷅

I can’t think of anything else good to say about this book right now because I’m still so annoyed. And I’m not even that excited to start the next one, which is surprising considering I’ve read the last 12 books back to back without stopping. I guess I just expected more, I went in thinking that Luna & Donnelly were going to be my fav but I was let down.

This book was just further proof that my hatred for the amnesia trope is valid and that it ruins everything.
I’ve literally only read one trilogy where it was done right, every other time it’s been terrible.

ahhhhh this was an absolute ride and i can’t wait to get into it. first, non-spoilery overall thoughts: i see why krista and becca hyped this book up so much compared to their other releases! it was so so good. stressful, but good. and the secret trope?!?! i was not expecting it to be what it was!!!

okay, spoilery thoughts start here.

- krista and becca ritchie completely changed the game with this book. in misfits, i was kind of wondering where donnelly and luna’s story would go, and why they needed 3 whole books. well, i understand completely now. there’s a whole lot of things that need to be dealt with now LOL.

- amnesia trope: okay, i really dislike the amnesia trope usually, but it was actually done really well here?? and lowkey it made the story better because i’m really liking the way its allowing luna to re-evaluate her life and relationships. is it stressful for me as a reader? of course. but i think it’ll make things better in the long term. i’m suffering rn along with the rest of lunnelly nation but hopefully we will be happy again…. one day… maybe.

- i loved seeing more of the hales!!! we got so much xander and lo, and lily (some of which was absolute PAIN but I digress)

- maeve < 3 and cassidy < 3 ahhhhh so cute and i'm surprisingly into both of the names

- gabe and MK confirmation finallyyyy

- frog and quinn SLAY kb ritchie are so smart for having both of them on luna’s detail. I’m here for the quinnfrog content.

- kinney and luna: i need more of them!!! now that luna has acknowledged that they don’t have the sisterly bond that she wants, i hope we get more scenes with them in nobody like us.

- loved seeing more of eliot and tom! also was that TV scene with them watching beckett's ballet video a beckettjoleo confirmation >!?!@>!?!

- ELIOTWINNIFRED

- that scene with harriet and xander and ben was interesting. still not sure about what’s going on there but i’m reading the predictions on twt and its interesting to say the least

- that ending?!?!?!? i swear to god if it’s someone other than grandmother calloway… kb ritchie don’t even play with me like this i can’t take one of my favs dying. fortunately i don’t think they could ever kill off anyone too important so we should be fine.

the fact that we most likely have to wait 0.5-2 years for lunnelly's trilogy to complete + kbr's other series too ??? i'm not exactly happy with mlu honestly, and now we all have to sit *patiently* and wait for the actual stuff aka the cobalt brothers + girls squad series that MIGHT NOT EVEN COME. i'm literally so pissed rn. the things that everybody wants, they postpone & are vague abt it. the things that nobody wants, they unleash.

i understand that writing is not easy & takes a lot of time n efforts, but there should be some smart economic decisions made by authors who survive off their audience's demand and they are NOT producing what we want. legit cannot blame us if we drop our interest.

Every star in every single galaxy in every single universe.

I have no words to describe what I'm feeling at the end of this book, and also I have so many words and so much to say, I'm about to burst.

Luna & Donnelly forever and ever. Cosmically fated. Proven.

Thanks K&B for letting me peek at this early. And for the earthly promises and beltloop moments. They meant a lot.

To be honest, this is the most let's waste paper book. The plot is right out telenovelas, and if they committed to bit, I would give 2 star just for entertainment, but no, they treated that seriously.
Luna and Donnelly are so boring to me. Even KBR had to go with that trope to give them something. I don't understand why they get 3 books, but we move.

Now, what I liked Luna, Tom, and Eliot friendship, Lilo, is always precious, crumbs for Quinn and Frog, Cobalt brothers always stole the show, Ben and Harriet are adorable and I think that about it.

Holier-than-thou attitudes from someone who only knows how to chew gum, sleep with client kid, and gets married into family.
Farrow, you are never going to be loved and get away from my prince Charlie Cobalt. The same goes for flop Sulli.
Also Leo for Beckett is dumb, they do not have chemistry and he just got divorced I do not want ex plot just have him with Tom and Beckett with Jo.

Until next time.

After reading Unlucky Us I realised that the reason why in most cases I adore these books so much (Core 6 included) is that there is no drama between the couples. The drama (which is often way over the top) comes mostly from outside the family and the couple are sticking it out together, which I love.

I'm not a big fan of misunderstandings and miscommunication between the main characters, it drives me up the wall and annoys the shit out of me.

With Luna and Donnelly, and with all the other couples, I love that they are devoted to each other as soon as they decided to be together. The support, and love for each other jumps off the pages. There is no question about their feelings.

Particularly in Unlucky Like Us, Donnelly is amazing in showing his love for Luna. I swooned at times by how honest and supportive, and just plain awesome he handles all things Luna. He is so in tune with her, so open to everything Luna. Even the way he talks to her is perfection!!

So, although the series isn't what it once was, I still devour the books as soon as they come out (with exceptions), and enjoy my reading experience. But I do get the feeling that some plots are just too far fetched to make any sense anymore.

I still love the interactions between the different siblings, and any family and roommate time. I love that the bodyguards are having such a tight and loving relationship. And I wonder about other relationships that could happen in the future. That alone means that I'm far from done with this series.

I have questions about Charlie, he is such a complicated and complex character. I want to know who Tom's secret crush is. Beckett's interview is probably the most interesting tidbit in the entire book. I feel sparks flying between him and Leo - am I the only one? And I started wondering about the new bodyguard on Triple Shield, Ryan Cruz, he is in his 20s so totally love interest material. Also, I really hope Quinn gets a book, or at least an overall HEA arc.

So, yeah I'm in for the long haul. ♡

How does it feel to be an author who lost credibility for lying to their readers (saying multiple times that kit x sulli will be the only 2 people in the relationship) and manipulating them (keep pushing Kitsulli's books and dangling them for many years just to fuck with them by adding a useless third wheel)? 🤔

I mean really??? There was nothing going on in this book but weird indecision and unnecessary angst/pining. I don’t know why the authors felt like this was worth a book? Why stretch out this very simple couple with a very simple storyline into 3 books????? Their couple arc could have been handled in one, really pushing it at two books. But three??! Make it make sense. This was nothing but a very boring filler book with a trope that could be interesting but was used in such a lame way. I mean this could have been used in a way to work on/fix relationships or things in her life (which was talked about but never done), could have been used in a way to strengthen familial bonds (it wasnt), or idk anything instead of just the pining and angst that she was a different person and never being able to move on with life until came back. And we basically did a rehashing of the entire series?? This book felt like one of those “previously on” moments you used to get on an tv show; so much looking back and recapping (and not even really recapping on the main couple) but no moving forward. And then all of a sudden we have fucking undercover operations and wearing wires?

I don’t know what I was reading but it was not good. It almost seemed like the authors used this book to try out different tropes and ideas that they haven’t been able to use yet. It felt like a weird writing exercise rather than a book that flows with the rest of the series. But let’s be honest this whole series really went off the rails several books ago. Yeah this was just all kinds of bad and it makes me so sad because these authors really had something amazing with their Addicted series. And to see the state of this second generation series is upsetting because I know that they can write some amazing characters and beautiful and complex stories.

Honestly I’m still reading this series because I really would love to see Charlie’s story I think he’s maybe the only character that feels most like what I loved from the Addicted series; he feels like an actual complex, flawed, and layered character which I can’t say about any other main characters from this series. So I’m hoping we’ll get to see his story but something is telling me it won’t happen, or if it does it won’t happen anytime soon.

So I mean overall this sucked and was somehow worse than the previous one. Thankfully I didn’t feel too much secondhand embarrassment but there was just zero substance. And again this is coming from someone who loved lunelly since the first couple books, but wow these authors really know how to take a couple you love and turn it into a tedious and somewhat exhausting experience.

Catapulting me out of my months long reading slump, Unlucky Like Us was everything I dreamed it’d be and then some. Nothing is more exhilarating than discovering a book that you just simply can’t put down, despite how much your tired eyes beg.

When I tell you this catapulted me out of my reading slump. I devoured this book. Absolutely ate it up. It’s for sure the kind of book you want to stay awake all night to read.

While I enjoyed the last Lunnelly book, Misfits Like Us, I only rated it three stars. So I went into Unlucky with low expectations. Let me tell you though, it exceeded every one of them.

Written in the stars, Luna and Donnelly’s romance is a love like no other. Transcending the tragedy that threatens to take them, their story is one of heartache, longing, and grief; but also of redemption, self-discovery, and the ties that bond us.

I will always be a Kitsulletti girlie, but Lunnelly harbors my heart in a way that no other couple can. With muddied pasts and ill-fated futures, their mere existence is enthralling in a way that even the strongest among us couldn’t deny.

Transfused with the essence of their predecessors, reading Unlucky Like Us was like coming home after months of being estranged. While each story in the series is captivating of their own accord, the prose in this particular novel left me in complete and utter awe. Krista and Becca will never cease to push the boundaries of their writing and it leaves me speechless. Every. Time.

There was so much more depth to all of the characters and while this book may be interpreted as a romance novel by many, it gave off the vibe of a contemporary fiction with romance themes. To my core, I am a romance girlie, but I was just in awe of the turn this series took. I definitely think the Ritchie sisters are preparing us to go into the Cobalt Empire series, being as they mentioned they were considering steering away from the romance genre for the time being.

One of my favorite aspects of the Like Us series has been gaining a deeper appreciation for each of the characters as we shift POVs entirely. A dynamic I discovered a profound love for this time around was Marrow. There’s something about seeing love through eyes that are not the beholder that leaves me feeling nostalgic and overly sentimental.

On the contrary, seeing certain characters from a different perspective made them less likable. *Cough cough* Charlie we’re looking at you. Now, I’ve never been a Charlie apologist, but for the most part, I didn’t mind his interactions too much. But GIRL, when I say there was a particular scene where Charlie addresses Donnelly in…a not-so-kind way, I was ready to throw hands. His redemption arc better serve.

Now for the juicy part…

*BEWARE OF SPOILERS BELOW*

I am begging someone, literally anyone, to obsess over this book with me.

I’m still in between whether I should rate it 4.5 stars or 5 stars, but either way, it’s one of my favorite reads of the year thus far.

Nobody Like Us can’t come soon enough! I don’t think I’ll ever be prepared for this chapter of the KBR universe to close, but for tonight, I’ll stay trapped in their orbit because there’s nowhere else I’d rather be 📖

3.5 STARS

My heart is a chasm of everything I know and love, and it will always be filled with you.”

I feel like my judgment is never clear when it comes to KBR's books, and it's probably only worse with Luna and Donnelly because, for one, she's my favorite character from gen two since she was a kid, and for another, I had to wait way too damn long for their books. Meaning that, I'm probably just being as impartial as one can be, but whatsoever.
So, I had to wait a whole entire year for this book to be released to get…this? I can't say the book is bad or good, and that I didn't like it, but honestly? The tropes and their development made me miserable.
Luna and Donnelly are, and deserve everything. They're good people and souls, with beautiful hearts that only care for each other and for everyone they love. They're good together and they're good for each other. They're the best of the matches—they complete and understand each other in a way no one else does—and all they do is try to be happy. Still—life (aka KBR) can't give them a damn break.
I love Luna so much, so my heart is completely broken and shattered for her. She did nothing but try to be happy and to not hurt people she loves, and yet she got what she got. She deserved so much more than the trope the authors gave her, I swear. Still, all things considered—I liked her development throughout the book. As she said, what happened sucks, but at least she kinda got a "second chance" to do some things, and I guess the most important one is to have a better relationship with her own self.
And Donnelly…geez, I love him. He also deserved so much better, and I cried and hurt so much for him it's not even funny anymore (lol). He's too good and precious for everyone, the world doesn't deserve him. All he always does is try to help people he loves, and he only gets bad things, pain and deception in return, it's shattering. And it sucks. But hey oh hey, again, all things considered, I liked how Krista and Becca navigated his character and his feelings throughout the story. He's yet to show me any signs he's not perfect, and I still wouldn't see it.
Now, about the other characters (cause it's impossible not to talk about them): I love Eliot and Tom. I love their friendship with Luna and how supportive these three are one with the others; I love how no matter what happens, they always have the backs of the other two. I also love Xander. He's so grown up and so, so strong. I've been loving seeing him growing and improving throughout the series, and it amazes me to see that he finally reached a point in which he can speak about his feelings and thoughts—even though sometimes it takes some time—and that he can take care of himself. I also (again) love Moffy and Farrow badly; it makes me so happy seeing how happy they are and the beautiful family they created together (btw, I cried with baby Cassidy being born). I loved to see baby Maeve Moretti being born (and the reason of her name will always make me cry), and I feel bad for Thatcher.
And last but not least: no one will ever be capable of convincing me that Loren Hale didn't have the best development since book one in the Addicted series until now. He's so much more secure than he ever was, and he's so devoted to his family, that I (just like all his kids and family) know he can't do bad again. And the same goes for Lily. Speaking of which, she made me cry so much it gave me a headache. She's truly one hell of a fighter, so strong and precious, and deserves all good things in the world.
Even though I'm kinda not very happy with this book (and seriously considering not reading anything by KBR after this series ends), I'm still excitedly waiting for Nobody Like Us, waiting for Luna and Donnelly to get the happy and lovely ending they deserve. And I'm also VERY excited waiting to find out that (hopefully) Samantha is forever lying on the dust of earth.

2.5 ⭐️

were they all this bad??? it’s been a year since i read the series and i gave them decent ratings but reading this has made me question it all 😭

so many parts were just so cringey and others just felt all over the place.

and *SPOILERS* the amnesia trope???? seriously???? i cant be asked like this was 591 pages of what felt like nothing and then just having to relive the 11 books before this one.

and the end? am i supposed to be on the edge of my seat? if they kill off one of the core 6 they’ll lose readers so it’s probably just samantha calloway

Desire is a beast we’ve let crawl inside our hearts, writhing and screaming and needing to be uncaged.

I’m obsessed. Luna and Donnelly. Donnelly and Luna. Sigh. I’m not saying anything about this book other than it is an emotional rollercoaster and honesty it gave me the vibes that the original Addicted/Calloway series used to provide. It’s very LunaDonnelly focused of course, but I absolutely loved diving into the non-romantic relationships in this story as well. It was heartfelt, emotional, funny, steamy, intense and I just gobbled up every single minute of it. My only true complaint is the book is over, but their story isn’t so I’m not so patiently waiting for their last book. Sigh.

This definitely needs to be read after Misfits Like Us and I highly recommend reading the rest of the Like Us series in order before as well. I think you could get away with just reading this couples trilogy, but their story starts before their books, so dive into the series.

Ok, I’m just going to go wait for more Lunnelly.

Man, unlucky is such a massive understatement for Lunelly...

The stress, the tension, and the emotional upheaval was a lot, a lot. The only reason I didn't five star is that I hated the amnesia plot with a passion. They've had enough shit to deal with and it just feels like one thing too much.

Lunelly are still my second favourite couple though. I'm also happier with the writing style again. One of the things I enjoyed most with Maximoff and Farrow's books is how Moffy talks to the reader. That format is completely missing in everyone else's stories until we get to Luna and Donnelly, and maybe that's why I enjoy their books more than the others.

I also love reading Donnelly's diary entries!!

I'm a little anxious for the final book of the series because it's an absolute beast at over 800 pages!! I swear if Lunelly have to go through more shitstorms I'm going to get frustrated! I've cried so much for them and now I'm ready to be super happy for them. I also need more Marrow content because Donnelly and Farrow are basically brothers, and Farrow is such a positive point in both Donnelly and Luna's lives.

These books are so easy to read
But I hated this one…. The plot twist was really unnecessary and upsetting. With no concluded end so now I’m just sad

Dear Unearthly Reader,

This series exists and despite all its flaws, I'm so glad that I was here to read this.
My eyes are red, my heart all scratched and torn up, yet I closed the book with a smile. That's all that you need to know.

From a galaxy far, far away,
Halcyon
