This romance starts with some bumps in the night, that turn into some truly irritating bumps in the day, that then turn into Sung-eun literally bumping into the reason for all the noise: her handsome and charming neighbor, Eun-sung. She quickly finds out that the private student representative has a somewhat questionable reputation, but that doesn’t mean she shouldn’t do her duty as the kind neighbor. I mean, they are literal neighbors, after all. She hides her true feelings to him, and the two grow so close that it isn’t long before Sung-eun has to wonder if maybe Eun-sung...is also hiding something from her?

Illustrations are absolutely gorgeous! The story is your typical YA romance drama, I really enjoyed the comedy.

-> You can find "1 PLUS 1" webtoon on Tapas - you have to pay with ink there to read the chapters and they are not all updated there yet, but if you want to support the artist go do that, and as far as I know you can read the webtoon for free on Lezhin - you can find all 50 chapters there with 2 more to go till the end.

I gotta say I was expecting something fluffy - which it was for the most part, but like the story took some unexpected dark turns with some of the characters, like the main male love interest Eun-sung in few instances had some major yandere vibes...which is completely fine, it just took me of guard because I was not expecting it at all in this story.

I was actually pretty pleased with the main character Sung-eun, because usually YA female protagonists get on my nerves when it comes to romance dramas, cuz let's face it, most of them end up being useless needy annoying crybabies..but IMO she was written as a pretty consistent well developed character.
And here's why, while she did posses most of the tropes of being super needy and in love and constantly trying to chase her crush to make him return her feelings, the author wrote it in a way that it made sense.
Sung-eun is an introvert, so aside from having two best friends she doesn't hang out with other students at her university unless she needs to because of school. But those two friends that she has she values greatly and would do anything for them, she's depicted as the kindest person on the planet and would help anyone in need. She cares a lot.
She's a hard worker and puts high priority in her schoolwork, she is awkward around other people and doesn't like to do much of the social gatherings - so a loner, which suits her fine, until she meets her crush.

Now while Eun-sung on the outside is portrayed as a very capable carefree good-looking and good-natured guy with a lot of friends, the more we get to know him, the more we see there is something extremely disturbing going on underneath that smiling mask on his face. Honestly, it was not even my intention to question his bubbly personality, so oh boy was I surprised when some of his creepy side slid out a bit..apparently it's a family thing..also hard childhood and all that.
So because Eun-sung was deeply hurt multiple times by his family and abandoned while growing up, which resulted in him growing up as a manipulative person highly focused on his own self-preservation because nobody really cared about him to begin with so he had to do it himself, not thinking twice of getting into a romantic relationship with someone in order to use them for his own purposes. (some real heavy shit, and i though that this was a-slice-of-life -.-')
But living like that is very lonely, thinking at every turn someone will betray you, so now he is in desperate need of at least one person that he feels like they wont betray him, leave him behind, drag him down or hurt him..and there comes in Sung-eun who cares about everything he does and would do anything for him, a person he can rely on. So that's how they manage to form a very deep connection, one that Eun-sung in the end is unwilling to break off because it is so precious to him.

That's how we see their relationship grow form acquaintances to friends to eventually a romantic couple.
So what was really pleasing to see was how Sung-eun, for the sake of Eun-sung, broke out of her shell bit by bit and took more chances for him in hope to further develop and strengthen their relationship, and in the process of taking those chances and leaving her comfort zone she managed to make many new friends.
It was really wonderful to see that even as a couple Sung-eun and Eun-sung are still best friends. Really refreshing.

Now let me just talk for a second about the real MVP's of the story. Their FRIENDS.
Can I just mention how wonderful the friend relationships were written in this webtoon? I am talking about BOTH Sung-eun and Eun-sung friend groups. They are so good. And they are such great characters, I absolutely love them. They deserve the world.
And just the way they support their friends in need and how much they care and wanna help, and are a comedy relief and emotional support when they need to be...just...some wholesome friendship right there.

*cries tears of joy* must protect at all costs


The reason why i took off a star is because there are some things that should have been better developed; like why the hell did Eun-sung have second thoughts, the story hints at it but it's not fully explained, and why did those thoughts suddenly just vanish when Sung-eun set her ultimatum? What happened to Wonho?? We never talked again about Eun-sung being jealous or about any of his feelings except that he doesn't want to loose Sung-eun..just so many questions unanswered. Then again I do have two more chapters to read till the end.

The fight scene with girls is awesome I'm really enjoying it :DD

Very refreshing in a way even though it had a sorta general plot. I seriously loved the FL in the first half of the webtoon for her honest, caring and innocent nature but then she became overly jealous and conscious.
*Spoiler*
She started to invade her boyfriend's privacy and the irrational fight she had with his friend was totally unnecessary especially since after a while she explained that she doesn't have to fight for him. And how could she order him to cut ties with a friend who is giving freelance jobs to him through which he earns the money for his tuition and living expenses? Isn't that crossing the line? *End of spoilers*

Some things were just there for no reason. Like the hint that she's from a well off family. And Wonho, who was not given a proper story or development.

Overall, it was fun to read this. At times, it was severely frustrating but I liked the art and the jokes in this also, it was very much like a uni student's life so it was comforting and familiar.

This book is AMAZING!! It had such a beautiful story, I loved how PATIENT, BOLD, and CONFIDENT, but also NERVOUS, EMBARRASSED at the same time!

If I'm being honest, this book made me realize that the more i read.. the higher my expectations are;-;

If you would like to read it, I've read it on Tapas and Maepd(idk know if that's the right name tho...)

Honestly, the guy is a jerk. A manipulative jerk and totally wrong of him to just throw out clues if you are not even going to.... WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY IS Lee Sung-eun you deserve better, but after all you went though Eun-sung must at least make it worth it. I give this rating because even tho I loved the college and friends and the bunch, Eun-sung (ML) is an ass.
Wonho, I saw you out there, you had a chance.
Also why would you add the younger brother and the whole family subplot if you are not going even to pursue it. Eunhyun was kinda weird, like for a moment I thought he was interested in my lovely female lead, but then he...
Its confusing. If you want some good romance just go read office contract relationships.

Always somewhat confused whenever I dip into a manhwa for the first time. I need to fully concentrate in order to understand it, moreover, the main character’s name are confusing.
But it was a good and refreshing story!

Yet, I don’t think they were effeciently developed throughout the chapters. To sum up, it is light and superficial read, good to pass the time.
