Civil war has come to Ganderland. Brutal, vicious, and bloody, with little end in sight as the twin princes, Tyrale and Tyden, vie for the right to rule the Kingdom. Hadrack, the infamous Outlaw of Corwick, has spent a year working to disrupt the north’s supply routes and economics, having to reluctantly set aside his vow of vengeance against the remaining members of the nine to do so. But, after receiving an urgent summons to a small border town named Springlight from the stoic House Agent, Malo, Hadrack finds himself drawn into an intricate web of lies, deceit, and betrayal that will leave him questioning everything he believes in.
Who is the mysterious Rorian that has taken refuge in the town? And what does he know that has so many different, competing factions desperate to find him? Accompanied by Sabina, a bewitching red-head with an agenda of her own, Hadrack’s pursuit of Rorian will lead him on a perilous journey across both land and sea, and ultimately, to the very summits of Mount Halas itself where a long-buried secret awaits.
Hunted and on the run, Hadrack is left with a devastating choice. Lose the woman he loves forever or watch the Kingdom of Ganderland fall to his greatest enemy.

I must say I wasn't expecting this series to turn out this DAMN GOOD!!!!!!! Reading about Hadrack life story makes me think of what I have done in life whether its good or bad an the consequence. You just have to have faith that it all works out no matter what. For all that he has gone through as a young man he has the right to take his revenge. This series has such very strong characters they stand out as much as Hadrack. His men stick to him not just out of the oath they have plagued to him. They know its the right thing to do. He makes them feel like men once again. Terry Cloutier takes you on one hell of adventure with great detail. With all the ups an downs an their are more downs then ups. One an all stick together with ,love, hate war, friendship an alot of back stabbing an crazy people. Looking forward to the next book. Don't make me wait to long😃. Bring it on!!!!!
The protagonist is insufferably arrogant, a large bully who only gets his way with others because he is larger and intimidated people with his demeaning, even threatening behaviour. Frankly, he is the cause of many other characters’ deaths, when I often wish it were the glowering loudmouth who’d take the long sleep.
It may be Hadrack is just Cloutier’s persona stuck in a fantasy story and he gets his jollies by beating down other people. He also is an idiot, yet has just enough of low-minded cleverness to just get by.
I knew he’d get through the end of the book because he’s still going to be the main character in the next book. Unfortunately, many other more humane and good people die because of his poor choices.
I like the way the older Corwick reminisce of current happenings with the Tale of how these things occurred in his past. The telling gives you a unique insight into Corwick's life and journey to where he is now. Narration is well done and the Narrator does a great job with the characters voices and the entire storyline.
Terry, writing a book is in my near future. Your story is very inspiring. I too work out the story in my head and it's just about ready for the keyboard. The question now is, how long do i have to wait for the next sequel!!!!!? Once again, great job!
This series has kept me interested from the start. I didn't think I'd like them as much as I have, the story is all about revenge but gets much more complex as the series progresses.
I have to say this one is a great boys own adventure, with horse back treks to evil characters, battles and even a chase across the ocean. It also has the added mystery included in this novel, the author does keep the interest up.
The way he's written the series there is loads of scope to continue as he has left quite a few unanswered questions as you turn the last page.
I hope he continues with the characters because, like those American series that just finish without conclusion it would be rather frustrating to say the least.
All in all a good read to take you away from the gloomy news of today.
A fantasy story well written and well edited, full of as much action as its predecessors though oddly I found my interest waxing and waning throughout. There seemed to exist a predisposition to solving problem events through somewhat unlikely coincidences and there are whole sections where I thought the author had lost interest and chose to either pull another rabbit from the hat to finish the scene or just ramble on until a convenient solution arose. Not as good a yarn as the first two books.
I started out the year with the first book ( the nine), what a nice way to finish up a crappy year then with the third installment. A definite bright spot to the year was this series. Great storytelling and strong characters propel this story. There's no magic, no dragons and definitely no wizards. What you get is a very realistic story from the fighting to the detailed world. Perfect pacing of the story and fantastic characters ( did I mention the characters? ) made this a joy to read. Eagerly awaiting the next book.
Incredibly addictive series, strongly written, well paced epic adventure.
Consistent, continually engaging writing, complete with non stop pacing and smartly written world building scenery. The non stop action engages your mind and captures your imagination throughout. This story, this series, continues to be well written with vivid engrossing landscapes and intense emotions. Well done, Terry Cloutier, well done. Onto book 4. Thank you TC, well met.
One crazy ride A fast paced stoty full of crazy unbelievable adventures. Admittedly Hadrack and friends are nothing short of miraculous but it's tough, gritty, and oh so much better then a lot of the books i have read lately The characters are smart, believe in themselves and face certain death like true heroes. Just what a good story requires. Well worth a read.
Another very enjoyable read about some very interesting characters and his band of brothers in arms , not too long and as the author wrote he doesn't want it to continue for ever with definitely one more book which I think will be about right as the original story was Hadrack and the nine . Definitely recommend at the price of 99p .
I feel that book three had more gore than story I still enjoyed the book and look forward to book four. I was disappointed in Hadrick's treatment of Sabina and felt the author could have used their relationship to develop another plot twist rather than his son having to kill Sabina's daughter
I'm enjoying this series. The great combination of author and narrator enhance the tale of Hadrack of Gorwick. Although the story is told by our hero and we know he survives the hardships he find along the way, the men he leads and woman he loves keeps the suspense alive. I look forward to the next book in the series.
I have read all three books in the series that are out so far. Think Bernard Cornwall but fantasy based. Really great plot twist, characters and settings. Read them and you'll love them to!
Another energetically written story about our favourite outlaw. Massive journey that had twists and turns all the way through. Virtuous chap, considering how he deals with most problems. :) Enjoyed it very much. Bring on the next one.
The three book series reads well and I’ve enjoyed the portrayal of the friendships of the characters. I’m looking forward to book four but I suspect there will be more sadness for Hadrack in the days to come.
Sorry but not as good as the first two. Much of the story is predictable and ponderous at times. The rapid searches and action of the first two in the series is replaced by a decent tale but dragged out wearisome. Can't see me reading volume 4.
I’m really enjoying this series. The storyline has a good theme with every book telling you something different but all connected in someway. I would gladly recommend this book
These types of revenge stories, particularly ones in medieval settings, tend to get a bit redundant. Cloutier keeps it fresh and surprising and each of these books just keeps getting better and better.
This is a very entertaining series with many intriguing characters within a well written, interesting storyline. Action is abundant along with treachery, revenge and occasional romance.
A pleasure throughout. I’d forgotten about the Wolf as book 3 had yet to appear. What a pleasure to have it find me and discover the whole story come to life again.
Boy, a lot happened in this story. It was a fast pace action filled thrill ride from start to finish. If you have not already started to read this author then what are you waiting on? Get the books and leave your reviews.
An awesome read. Does not drag on like some other series.
The storyline moves all along at a good pace. It does have suspense but does not leave you wondering for too long. The robust characters capture your heart and cheering them on
A very good series that I recommend highly lots of fun, excitement and enjoyable hours of reading. You can read my reviews of the previous two novels here on Goodreads. Recommended.
