When his best friend is shot right before his eyes, Cal MacDermott knows that the key to saving CJ lies in a promise made nine years ago. A promise made blindly, because neither he nor CJ could have known then how the promise could be fulfilled. CJ's final words to Cal as the paramedics rush in, were a plea to find a girl, the girl who stole his heart, and tell her to wait for him, tell her she could be Violet, she could be anything she wanted.

Though he doesn't understand what CJ's words mean, Cal is determined to go to any length to save his best friend. Keeping his promise will mean facing his past, facing a crippling loss, fear and insecurity. Cal must open his heart and risk getting hurt to prove that fate is real, promises matter and love can heal his best friend.

About the author

I am a graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. I was born and raised in New Jersey so I am very much a city slicker. I moved to Florida to marry my sweetheart after college and marveled at how little there was to do and how much one had to drive to do it! But due to a job change and an abrupt move, we settled in Austin Texas where the motto is 'Keep Austin Weird' and I try my best to uphold it!
I am the mother of 2 great kids and though writing has always been a pursuit I was interested in, being a Mommy got in the way for quite a few years. I decided I would give it a fair shake in 2009 and I haven't been able to quit since. I have 7 novels, a book of short stories, and 2 novellas available. I also have 10 additional started novels in various stages of gestation. I have a hard time stopping my ideas and when a seemingly great idea hits me - typically just as I am attempting to fall asleep - I am compelled to start an outline.
My 2 great talents are:
1. My remarkable ablilty to remember names - which has served me well.
2. My ability to remember lyrics from every song I ever heard in the 70's and 80's - which has not helped me in the slightest.
I have a quirky sense of humor and sometimes TV commercials crack me up.
I like the notion of things being 'meant to be' or somehow touched by the unexplainable. I also like the effect music has on one's state of mind and the memories a song can recall.

I’m a HUGE Haig fan and honestly wait in anticipation to jump into her newest world between every book launch. I think the number one thing I love about her writing is her ability to create a vivid, three-dimensional world where I’m watching the story take place as well as walking around with the characters like a quiet wall flower best friend. Her characters always have such amazing depth and realness to them, so it makes the stories even more special. I’ve come to realize I will never be disappointed when I pick up or recommend one of her stories regardless of the subject or plot!!

So this is my latest book. It centers around a mass shooting at a concert, but at it's heart, it's a story about love, loss and fate. Cal and CJ have been best friends since they were six years old. Their family situations bind them together, and they spend a lifetime getting each other over the rough spots. But a promise blindly made when they were teens comes into play when CJ is shot and Cal believes he must uphold that promise to save his best friend, and get everyone to future fate has in store.
