He is a mangaka from Tokyo, Japan. He debuted in October 2001 with Nandodemo Roku Gatsu Jū San Hi, and also wrote for the magazine Square Freeze and Love Love Santa, published in November 2001 and in February 2002 respectively. He later moved to Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump, in wich he won the 7th "Story King" section in the same year.
The gang just landed in America to acquire the corn city and there are new interesting characters with more advanced weapons—Dr. Xeno and Stanley Snyder.
This volume was awesome as it continues Senku and others travels across the ocean and they make plan for USA but before that a round of Poker of Senku and Ryusui and its hilarious and amazing how Senku outdoes Gen whose on the other team and then there are drinks making and merry making also, its amazing how Francois makes personalized dream for everyone and then begins the 40 day trip across america and they encounter so many things which was cool to see! And when they finally make their way, they see someone is already here and they have advanced science and an airplane and Machine Gun: Dr Xeno and his military man Stanley Snyder! Its getting good and things seem dire more than ever now! The art was cool here and finally the world exploration arc begins!
Dear Senku and his raucous team has reached America in mere 40 days by taking the shortest route possible. After reaching their destination, Senku divides the team into two groups to find the corn and necessary resources for their upcoming journey. As soon as Senku's group started their search for corn, they found themselves at the mercy of another genius scientist. With corn on the line, Gen takes matters in his own hands to misdirect the enemy for greater good.
On reaching land after a few days at sea, the spirit of crew members definitely improved a lot. They're now craving meat, thank god they don't have Luffy in their midst. 😅 The story has taken another shocking turn, but I'm used to it now.

This volume was a lot of fun. I liked the personal drinks bit, it was cute especially what they did with Suika’s. The upcoming arc looks like it could be really interesting, really Xeno’s design as well as the look of the plane (and how it was used looked cool). Stan Snyder looks so much cooler with his mask though, wish he’d keep it on.
This is my favorite book of the series that I've read by FAR. I was having a ridiculously good time throughout the entire book. I re-read multiple sections after I finished it just because of how much fun I was having.
If I went into depth about everything I liked, this review would be entirely too long, so here's a highlight reel:
- The poker game was so fun. I was rooting for Ryusui and Gen (even though I knew that was a losing battle) just because I wanted to see Gen's endless card tricks. I just know that he's banned from the tables in Vegas. He did travel through America doing performances, right?.
- The Bar Francois! I loved the custom drinks for each character, and it does make me want to try a few of them on my own.
- Hyoga's choice of who to bring back made me scream (positive). As soon as he made that condition, I said "I just really hope it's not Moz and Homura. They'll definitely stage a coup later on and try to take over." Cut to his choices - that's going to be interesting later.
- Of course, the first thing that greets them in America is someone shooting at them with a machine gun. That's a little too accurate.
- Gen's interrogation at the end where he's attached to the make-shift polygraph is so fun. I love how challenged he felt by all of their moves and needed to prove that he can outmaneuver them.

The first couple of chapters were not really interesting as we see our characters getting drunk and playing poker. The new arc actually starts when they reach America. Senku and others learn that there are people in America who were revived a couple of years before Senku and that they have advanced technology. However, they think that Whyman is Senku's group. The pilot and the leader of the American hideout are revealed in this volume. My favorite moment in this volume is when Gen fools a lying machine showing his true powers as a mentalist and trickster. I'm actually curious about this arc and the new characters.
Tagged talking animals for the chapter bonus page featuring a dead gator hoping its companions escaped alive, for the record.
So I HAD to go back for a re-read now that Season 4 of the anime is out!
It's... surprisingly lined up. Like, this volume starts where Season 4 starts! Convenient! The anime also follows the manga perfectly, like they just used the manga for a storyboard with some scenes stretched out for comedic effect *cough*KirisamewhenaskedaboutKinro*cough*
I also, surprisingly, don't have a lot to say about the story. Like, it's goofy science-based drama in the style of MacGyver, while being the slightest bit more dubious science than MacGyver. (Considering where the whole Medusa plotline is going, it's actually a LOT more dubious, but spoilers.) I definitely enjoy the series, but it's still shounen at its core—meaning some ridiculous fight/action scenes and Male Gaze* taking the forefront. But it's probably the only "based on real science" (or at least "real science as per Wikipedia") story that comes to mind, so I'm going to enjoy it as much as I can.
*"But what about Kohaku and Kirisame? They're great fighters!" Yeah, but they ALSO have the same weird ultra-hourglass body type that ALL of Boichi's mid-teen-to-early-adult girls have (with sort of exception for Nikki but only in her face), and also the fighter girls are both outnumbered and overpowered by the fighter guys. According to the "Power" chart for one of the chapter break pages, Kohaku is the most agile fighter but has average destructive power, while Kirisame is the least destructive (but ties Hyoga for most range). Still an overwhelmingly male-centric story.
...actually, it's deliberately vague what gender Francois is, but that's a moot point since Francois is only the BEST CHEF IN THE WORLD. (Whether that subverts or reinforces the idea of "women belonging in the kitchen," who knows.)

poker?? that's so random lmao 😭😭 not complaining tho it was a welcome fun chapter after that stressful ass treasure island arc....also snazzy outfits
ALSO I FORGOT TO MENTION LAST VOLUME BUT SENKU AND KOHAKUS SIBLING DYNAMIC......ALL THE FOUND FAMILY....CRYING SCREWMING!!!
I feel like a compass would be real useful in a sea voyage but sure senku ig you can just keep the exact time in your head by counting the seconds
I THOUGHT STANLEY WAS A WOMAN AND I WAS SO CONFUSED BC I KNEW THERE WAS A STANLEY IN THE SERIES...we got evil twink and wind hashira + tetsutetsu looking ass beefing with high school kids (actually probably not anymore) before gta 6 (idk what gta 6 is)
ALSO I THOUGHT DR XENO AND STANLEY WOILD BE NEW ALLIES?? WHY ARE THESE GROWN ASS MEN TRYING TO TAKE OVER THESE UNIVERSITY AGED KIDS
ALSO I THOUGHT THEYD BE LIKE NICE OLD MEN?? I pictured that tech support guy from mha...was his name smth like Dr Stanley??? tricked by my own foolish assumptions...
also gripe.....in 3700 years, would the moths not have changed significantly thru natural selection and evolution?? and the corn?? and the rivers??? and maybe the whole ass globe?? like the continents???
hm I'm starting to have some thoughts on the way this series writes and handles its characters...I'll see what they're all like in the very end though (9 volumes left...)
gotta be awake in 5 hours guys wish me luck 💀💀🙏

The confrontation between two science users begins! I like where the story is going (Senku doing everything alone might have been too much). Also, Inagaki's expert use of his cast brought a smile to my face: Tsukasa and Hyoga provide battle experience, Gen shows off his mentalist skills, Ryusui surprises with his rapid decision-making, Chrome always ready to build something, and Senku always has a science trick under his sleeve.
Some food for thought: - I guess Xeno hasn't figured out the revival fluid recipe yet. - In real life, at least one person should have died from that barrage of bullets. The anime may tone it down to make the escape more realistic. - I'm unconvinced with Xeno's cliché portrayal of the mad, evil scientist. His burrow-like headquarters look so vulnerable to earthquakes, lol. - Judging by the order of the panels, Stanley's barrage should have gone through before Kirisame threw the acetylene pouch.
It takes three quarters of the book before any conflict appears. The voyage to America goes off without a hitch but still takes 5 excruciating and pointless chapters.
Once they arrive, they … make alligator burgers. Par for the course.
Finally a mysterious creature with glowing eyes appears, shadowing the party and eviscerating some wolves, later attacking with a machine gun. The story is mildly interesting for a chapter or two, until you find out the nature of the threat.
Some sort of killer alien gremlins? A race of highly evolved mutants? No, a man wearing lipstick and a tattooed Senku clone who engages in a polite contest of wits with Gen and lives in a whimsical castle. It’s underwhelming and lame.
Sometimes when you're not physical powerhouses, you gotta showdown in some other ways. Like poker! But then you have a guy proficient at reading others & manipulating them, and the other guy has a girl with incredibly good eyesight, so having them as your partner in the card game just leads to rampant cheating anyway! So even tho this isn't a pleasure cruise, the crew of the ship got inspired and now have a functioning casino aboard! And what's a casino without a bar? So now we the audience get to have a little peek into the world (&science) of mixology, both virgin AND alcoholic! All good stuff, but the real boost is that when our crew gets to the former California coast, they discover they're not alone...and that their new enemy is ALSO a MacGyver-type genius. Get. Excited.
Ta końcówka zapowiada naprawdę niesamowitą akcję w następnych tomach i ten z numerem siedemnastym staje się z jednym z ulubieńców z dotychczasowo przeczytanych.

3.5/5 Not and overly exciting volume but still entertaining as it sets up the North America Arc. The majority of volume 17 is our crew traveling from Japan to North America and their hijinks on their ship. Including setting up a Casino. The last few chapters have the crew landing in San Francisco and it’s pretty cool to see a new part of the world.
We are then quickly introduced to a new set of antagonists and the mysterious Dr. Xeno. Who has exactly what Senku wants. Corn.
Senku, Ryusuii, Gen, and Francois decked out in Casino garb on the cover of volume 17.
One of the best volumes in the series! Still two stars, because this is a bad series, but this is one of the stronger parts! I was disappointed when this big sea voyage jumped from taking 70 days to oh-dang-we-are-already-in-america in the span of two chapters... but at least the new arc, of actually exploring America, is shaping up well. I can't believe we got 150 chapters into a SCIENCE manga before having another person who knows SCIENCE. But here we are!
So some shocking moments in this volume as our heroes finally reach the U.S.A and their is some very funny moments like Ryusei and Senku arguing about what route to take which gets resolved in a Poker game. But the shocking part is learning that Senku was not the only scientist to be free from the Petrification and has built their own nation in the US. The new villain is going to be interesting one seeing that they can compete with Senku in terms of science.
The first volume past where the anime leaves off (for now) and I am so happy to be able to continue reading more adventures with these characters! The story is excellent as always, the art is gorgeous, and it's a wonderful mix of humor, action, drama, etc. Can we get a Dr. Stone cookbook though?! Some of Francois' new drinks, all the wonderful foods from previous volumes?! I feel like we need one.
start of a new arc, and the stakes have been raised again, now we have crafty villians for Senku to face. The art is still amazing to look at Boichi is an amazing artist, that image of the boat on the water was gorgeous.
