Karen Sue Walker is a lover of cozy mysteries, from Agatha Christie to Joanne Fluke. When not working or writing, she spends time with her very talented daughter and ever so fun granddaughter.
I’ll break it down per book: 1. Very promising for a first book! I liked it! It’s a fun, light read. Max is nice. She is curious by nature and observant. And I liked Keiko, the assistant. The plot is very good. And I love bridal! The conversations need a little more flow, but all in all a very enjoyable book and I am definitely going to be reading more books by this author. 2. Max, the very likeable amateur sleuth, has a new case. Throw in a hunky police detective and a former high school classmate who has his eye on Max, and you just know you’re in for a treat! The writing has definitely improved compared to book #1! Especially the conversations, they flow much, much better. Good plot, pleasant read. A lot of the book has to do with sewing costumes and I really liked it. Fashion meets murder mystery! I would definitely recommend this book. 3. I’m saying yes to this book ;) I couldn’t wait to get back to Max’s bridal store. Something about it just captured my heart. I guess it’s Max and her friends and her dad. And Jason of course! Or should I say ‘Detective Cruz’? The vibe of this book is just right. It’s well-written and has a good flow. This series is just getting better and better. I had a lot of fun reading it. I enjoyed myself immensely and I loved every minute of it! And I didn’t know whodunit till the very end. Yes, this was one of my favorite books ever.
Max is always juggling her friends, her customers, her family and murder. A nice cozy series where she figures out who she suspects may be the killer, goes to question the person and one way or another has a confrontation with the killer. The detective always gets the killer with her help before she gets killed. The storylines are always simple, but the twist is figuring out the ending before the reveal at the end. Max always questions the right people, but her conclusions may not be quite right. Interesting characters and fun to follow the maze of clues to the end and the last chapter isn’t always about the mystery. It may be of a more personal nature, so don’t skip it!
