A single Coronal Mass Ejection…

…was all it took to bring down the grid.

Will Russell survive as his plane falls from the sky?

It had been twelve-months since the worst day in Russell’s life. The anniversary of his daughter’s death sent him into the bottle. He loved his wife, but they grieved in different ways. Would the pain ever stop?

Sarah missed Russell.

She lay in bed unable to sleep. The heart ache had nearly broken her, too, but Sarah didn’t want their marriage to end. If she could just get him to stop drinking. Could they learn to live again?

One day later…

…everything changed.

Russell was on a plane heading west. The engines stopped, the plane was going down, and all he could think about was Sarah. He had to see her again.

On the Boston subway, Sarah, was trapped.

Fear and panic were all around her. Sarah sensed the danger. A man glared at her. With a deep breath, she wrapped her fingers around the Glock-43 in her purse. Sarah wasn’t afraid.

Will Russell and Sarah live long enough to find their way back to each other?

You’ll be on the edge of your seat with this post-apocalyptic thriller, because Russell and Sarah are easy to love.

Torrid soup....... really!

This book is just awful! It would appear the author had a synonym dictionary and systematically tried to replace ordinary descriptive words with words which he felt would elevate the level of his writing. Unfortunately he didn't check the meaning of his chosen words so we are treated to .... a slight ringing FESTERED in his ears, and whimpers that LOOMED from the villain, a STRIDENT beam of light, DEVESTING news and let's not forget TORRID stew! Just couldn't even finish this one!

My Musings

This is a riveting reading experience from start to finish. I could not put this one down. It's definitely a plot driven tale with plenty of nail biting suspense. I am so glad I found this book on Kindle Unlimited. I can't wait to read the next one in this series. Happy ☺reading 📚!

Great storyline, poor prose

I like the storyline, but the author strains for clever phrasing and it often falls short or is improperly used, which throws the book out of rhythm. That, coupled with many words that have typos or use the wrong word (hall instead of haul, etc) make it difficult to immerse oneself in this.

This kind of starts like a bad country-western song: man estranged from his wife, daughter murdered last year, boozing rather than coping. Then again , I guess this is not too dissimilar from other books in the genre. The writing had a pretty good flow (hence a 4 rather than a 3) though there were some odd sentence construction and usage at times ("Tim knew as much, but still, he persisted on Russell flying to Virginia in his plane"-maybe insisted?). I grew a bit weary of Sarah with her I'm-strong-don't-need-a-man attitude. In a disaster of this scale, anyone cooperating with you is a big plus. It also seemed to go to hell very fast, more so than I would think in just a few hours. I found the Virginia storyline a little more interesting. Overall, the book kept my attention well enough and I'm going to read the next to see what happens.

This has a different take on a power grid going down. In here we meet Russell and Sarah who are on the brink of divorce. They are separated and in different places when the power goes down. It’s interesting to see who of the two are stronger and more competent in how they move forward. I was surprised more than once at the actions of these two.

This is a exciting story. Since it’s unfinished I assume there will be more adventures for these two. I did listen to this on audio. This is my first listen with this narrator. She did a good job.

I enjoyed the book once I got past the whole country falling apart within minutes of loosing power. Really a stretch to think anarchy would happen that fast. The plane not functioning, but cars and trucks working just fine was another twisted fact, and there are others. The story beyond the unbelievable, was not that unique, but I was still attracted to reading about the characters and their struggles. Russel's addiction struggle was characterized very well. I have moved on into the 2nd book in the series to see how this plays out. It is an easy and quick read

This is my third attempt to make it through this book. I keep hoping the story will keep me moving forward through a swamp of spelling errors, confusing POV swaps mid-page, and an abundance of malaprops and eggcorns.

Every time I am thisclose to being completely immersed in the story, one of the aforementioned occurrences pulls me right OUT of the story.

If you are going to self-publish, do yourself and your work a huge favor and engage appropriate editors to work their magic on your manuscript.

I enjoyed this book, it was a great start to a promising series, with plenty of action and plot twists. The characters were interesting, and strong, Russell seems to be having a very bad day, until he meets Max and Cathy. I was disappointed the book ended on a cliff hanger, and I can't wait for book 2 to find out what happens next, I really liked the narrator Stacey Glemboski, she really helped bring the characters to life. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

Great start to a new series!

I have read just about everything this author has released. I highly recommend this author. This is book 1 of a new series and it has it all fast pace action, great characters, great storyline, heartache, Torment, loss, death, happiness, and dogs! Looking forward to book 2. Nice start for a series

Typical beginning for a Post-Apocalyptic saga. One storyline follows a married man who survived a plane crash and his wife is marooned in subway when the power goes away. What comes next is series of events where bad characters behave as you expect in this genre.

Great read

Great solid reading that keeps you wanting to go to the next page. I chose this book because I enjoy end of the world scenarios and wasn't disspointed. The fact that it had an uncomplicated plot also made it worthy of reading. I know I will enjoy reading the next in the series.

Great characters and a good story keep the pages turning in this story. When the power goes down Russel who is in Virginia must find a way to get back to Boston and try and reconnect with his estranged wife. Little does he know he is about to be embroiled in other peoples problems before he can try and get home.

Survive the fall book 1

Russell was in a plane with his mate Tim. When everything cut out and they went down over the blue ridge mountains.
Sarah, Russell’s wife was on the underground in Boston, when it cut out and all of the lights in the subway also died.
Both of them, miles apart and no knowledge of what has happened. They move out in 5eir different areas and find carnage.

Terrible. I was laughing out loud at how terrible it was while listening to it and it’s not a comedy. I cannot finish this one. I listened to it today on a car ride and I think that the 5 hours I listened to could have been 30mins and I would have gotten the same value out of it.
Everything is described twice. So many words to say nothing.

Meh

This is my first time trying out Shuperts work and I must admit I was pretty disappointed. Poor use of cliche metaphors (there were many) and choppy plot just never grabbed my attention. Felt like the ending was rushed and did not leave me yearning to get on to the next book.

Getting into reading, I knew I’d want to start with the apocalyptic genre. I didn’t know where to get suggestions but I did come across this series first. The author annoyingly uses the same words several times to describe scenes. Wasn’t the best book to start with but I am going to finish the series.

I enjoyed the 1st book in the series and I had a hard time putting it down. I finished it in one night and went on to book two. Loved the story and the characters easy to follow what was going on with the different groups.

Wish this on was a little longer. We follow Russell after the plan Tim was flying crashed. Then we follow Sarah after the subway into Boston stopped as did all the power and phones. This book has lots of action, and lots of twists and turns. Look forward to book 2.

Two interrelated stories

From one couple with their problems we are smoothly carried
into the adventurous and very active lives of the two people as they struggle to survive in a world collapsing. Two powerful stories with a common thread in a world gone mad.

Dnf-90% Nothing wrong with it. Maybe me. Just can't seem to care about the characters in the last few books I've read of this genre. Maybe I'm looking for a certain type of book and just not finding it.

To me it's a little shaky.

The characters are very good and what dialogue there is makes sense.
However I would have enjoyed a little more of the dialogue and not so much on the streets after the calamity.

great starter

Powerless World sets the stage with the start of the apocalypse. And characters are introduced. Already there are some favourites. There’s great gunfights and plenty of danger. I think this will be a keeper series!

It's a mad world

Really enjoyed this book, it is a good start to the series and looking forward to reading the next book. When the power goes out it must turn something off in certain people's brains too. 😄😄.

DNF at 82%. I really tried to finish but the writing was difficult for me to get through. Dialogue seemed forced, spelling errors, switching between 1st & 3rd person narratives, lack of any sort of humor.
