You’ll love this action-packed survival thriller because nothing is as cut and dried as it seems.
Derek Shupert is an avid super hero fan (Marvel over DC Universe) and lover of Science Fiction. He is currently working on two more books which should be available early 2016.

I can see that I will be an outlier on my opinion on this book and the series. I had some issues with the first book but was interested enough to continue and see what happened. For most of this second book, the actual EMP is incidental and is just a medium for confusion and opportunity (for bad guys), but not much about surviving the actual EMP. Sarah's story, rather incredibly, is a continuation of a year-long plan after the failed kidnaping and death of her daughter, to now grabbing her as a sex slave. Really? Russell's story with Cathy and Thomas had been a lot better and more about surviving the EMP, but in this book is just a struggle against a long standing bully of a land 'baron' and the corrupt LE in his pocket. Really? And the sheriff gets a sudden and opportune change of conscience? Really? And the bad guy didn't want to actually kill Cathy but to convince her to become friends so that the town would think better of him? Really?? I get that a major disaster of this type would allow a lot of ill-intentioned opportunists to take advantage of it, but all the bad guy stuff is from before the EMP and the disaster is rendered to be background noise. Not continuing.
Sarah was being stalked in Boston by armed and dangerous men, she recognised a tattoo on the arm of one as the man who killed her daughter a year ago. Russell, Cathy and Thomas, and two large dogs Max and Butch, fleeing from their burning homes toward town to report it to the Sheriff who was in the pay of Marcus. Russell got taken prisoner, Thomas taken to the Hospital and Cathy kidnapped by Marcuses gang. What will happen next. Read on to book 3
The story gets better and better. What is it with apocalyptic events that bring out the worst and also the best in people? It makes you wonder what kind of person you will become. Enjoying this series immensely. Looking forward to reading the next book. Definitely recommend this one.
I have been reading this theme of books for the last three years. When I find a good writer, I read everything they have written. This is book one but I was pleasantly surprised at how the writer knew when to put in the cliff hangers. Excellent story writing and a literary artist with words used to describe the environment etc... We!I written!
This series keeps getting better with each book. This book was non stop action from the beginning to the end. We did not see the plot twist coming. Wow, that sure kept us guessing. Can’t wait until the next book. If you have not read this author then you are missing out, he is great. Get the books and leave your reviews.
Madness Rising is another thrilling book in the series. There were a few unexpected twists and turns that just added to a great story. Can't wait to see what will happen next to Sarah ,Russell and Cathy. Well worth the read !
I liked book 2 better than book 1. Lots more action, more plot twists and surprises. This is a really great Post-Apocalyptic book. I would say it is PG-13 for violence. Can’t wait to read book 3 to see how Derek Shupert ties it all together.
A solid continuation from book one, Madness Rising is a page-turner. I could’nt put it down! The action is non-stop as our heroes find themselves in deeper trouble.
What is the next thrill ride? book two of Surviving the Fall, read it before. You continue your reading journey. You will be so taken by this series you will read ever book and let me tell you, I can not put these books down.
This work has cost me some sleep, but I'm not complaining because it is most definitely a "Can't Put Down". The never ending action is most enjoyable and any adventure reader (and others) will become a Derek fan.
Russel hurt and on his own meets a independent woman living off the grid that nurses him back to health. They run in to more trouble along the way but they form a bond that will be important in the days ahead. Great characters and storyline keeps the pages turning.
I loved this book by Derek Shupert. I also loved the characters. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I would recommend this book and all of this Derek’s books. I listened to this book on audiobook.
This book is set in a semi apocalyptic setting, but is a Mystery thriller featuring a hero who is an alcoholic and 2 brave dogs. A good read. With a setting like this, what could go wrong?
Frankly its boring. Who goes into this with the expectation of getting a book about surviving an EMP will be thoroughly disappointed. I wont continue the series.
I don't know if I can finish...ugh. I've been struggling with the stereotypical bad guy in a small town that runs the show that Russel is facing (um, how did those bad guys beat him to the town?), and of course some sort of mobster goons in Boston (when Sarah picked up the flashlight the now dead big guy dropped, why didn't she or Rick look for the gun he was holding?) And the Creeper now shows up. Of course he would.
This is a good read. I did not enjoy it as much as the first book in the series. It seemed like the scenes went on way too long and I found myself skipping over paragraphs.
Madness Rising (Survive the Fall #2) intensifies the post-apocalyptic drama introduced in Powerless World. Russel, a flawed protagonist grappling with personal demons, and Cathy, a determined prepper, navigate a chaotic world where survival is paramount. Their evolving relationship adds depth to the narrative, making their journey both compelling and emotionally resonant. This is must-read for fans of post-apocalyptic thrillers. With its blend of action, character development, and world-building, it offers a compelling continuation of the saga.
