A deadly virus has crippled the world, turning the undead into hostile killers. Now, the virus has evolved. The undead are no longer mindless. They can speak and reason. They can deceive.
They can hunt.
Ever since she was a child, Rosaline has battled to survive the monsters that made her an orphan.
Now, she has a child of her own. And in a world where running and hiding are no longer options, Rosaline must find new ways to keep herself and her son Mikey safe.
When they meet The Family, a group of fellow young people who offer help, Rosaline will have to do the one thing she’s avoided for years—trust people.
She has heard rumors of a safe haven. A fortified community known as Oasis, where she could give Mikey the life she never had.
Could there really be a treatment for the virus at Oasis? A cure?
To get there, Rosaline and The Family must face the vicious Infected and outwit the nightmarish Adapted—twisted and intelligent undead who can speak and disguise themselves as survivors.
In desperate times, trust is a risk. But Rosaline will have to break her own code and trust The Family as she risks everything to keep her son safe and give humanity a chance to rebuild the fallen world.

I was sent a copy of A World Fallen by Nicholas Lawrence Carter for review.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~. This was a dystopian story set after a virus ravaged the planet and turned people into blood thirsty zombies. Probably not the best choice for 2020 but I really enjoyed it. It had four main story threads which followed 4 distinct groups. As the plot plays out we see how they all relate to each other and that some of the narratives are set in the past and some in the present. I really liked this aspect of the book and found it made the story intriguing and kept me guessing.
The main focus is the story of Rosaline and Mikey. A 19 year old who finds a young boy of 5 and takes over his care. She fiercely protects him and has developed deadly skills in order to do this. She lives by the code – its either them or us and is ruthless in her efficiency at dispatching the enemy. Her only soft spot is her care and love for Mickey and her determination to give him a better chance at life than she has had.
I give this 🌟🌟🌟🌟 as the story is well thought out, keeps you hooked to every page and provides believable characters and plot that you get invested in right away. I had wished the ending had been fleshed out more as it seemed to wrap up a bit quickly but as this is a book 1 in a duology there will be more to learn about these characters and this alternate world. The story covers the gauntlet of the survivalist genre. Creepy and often very intuitive zombies who can speak and plan attacks. I think one of the more disturbing aspects of these zombies is that they always ask if you are alone and can they help you. It’s the seemingly innocuous ruse of aid that really sets my teeth on edge when they show up in the story. The story also brings together disparate people from all walks of life and situations in the hope of defeating the enemy and living some semblance of life. There is also the ongoing thread of hope that there is a secure facility/compound that they can reach where they will be safe. The journey that all the characters go on, especially Rosaline and Mickey, shows the ingenuity and tenacity of the human spirit.
I recived a copy of this book for free in exchange of an honest review, and what else can i say besides, that i loved it. Its a zombie story, but at the same time its way diferent of all other zombie stories, you have a creepy zombie evolution where they actually can talk and ask if people need help and if they're alone... That's really creepy, of course they continue to be zombies, and all they want is to feed on inocent looking humans. It was the first time i read about this kind of zombies... The way the story is written it's really nice and well paced you really get to like the main characters of each chapter 👍 and since i don't want to spoil the story to no One i Will just say this to the writer, Mr Carter you really surprised me in the end 😁 time is really fluid in here 😅👍 Will you write more stories in this universe? I would love to read more about them.
This was an amazing book. It went beyond just being an average zombie apocalypse story. It touched upon many issues that some writers might overlook like mental illness, depression, and PTSD that you might find in an apocalypse. I believe the author researched these issues fairly well and portrayed them realistically. I find the love and caring between the characters to really make the story. They were your average everyday people, so they were to me very relatable. And of course, the different types of zombies were intriguing and really creepy. I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to more from Nicholas Lawrence Carter. Well done, Sir.
I received a free copy of this book via Story Origin and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A World Fallen starts off with a bang. The action scenes unfold like you're watching a movie, and you get so wrapped up you forget where you are for a little. The characters were so real I felt like I could easily step into their world and talk to them. All I can say is don't start this too close to bedtime or you won't get any sleep. You'll be too busy reading!
A World Fallen by Nicholas Carter. You did one heck of a job writing this book. I truly enjoyed it. The writing is really very good. Good action and the characters had some crazy names which was a little hard for me to figure out if they were male or female. It is a good book to read twice to get the most from the book.
This was a very enjoyable read! It grabbed me from the start! Don't get to attached tot he characters! Fast paced! Different ideas! A good fun whirlwind adventure! For all lovers of end of the world zombie stories!
Realistic characters facing devastating circumstances. Both action-packed and character-driven. Like if the Walking Dead had all likable characters. Fast-paced and emotional.
Received as a review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. A gritty adventure as a deadly virus brought grave consequences for humanity, dangerously altering some to become hollow shells of themselves. Surviving in this world, Rosaline discovers means checking her humanity against those whom are more a deadly creature than a person. With one man's death could hold the key to giving humanity the desperate hope they need; but as it worth the cost that comes with it? A beautiful dystopian dance between greed and altruistic behavior where nothing is exactly black and white. Highly recommended.
I am a fan of thrillers...pulp, terrorism, assassinations, military type of books. I have never read a book of this genre until now. Honestly, I only read it because Nick and I worked together at an inbound appliance call center in the past and I wanted to support him. HOWEVER, WHAT AN AMAZING BOOK! If I could rate it six stars, I would. I was unable to put this book down and had to MAKE myself go to bed. I going to patiently wait until the next installment but I’ll probably go crazy doing it!
A World Fallen is an interesting new take on the zombie genre with good solid characters paying homage to the rainbow crowd. It starts after the world has pretty much collapsed and no one is looking out for any handouts or help from the nonexistent government. The undead come in two categories, dumb yet quick stepped and calculating. The second type is what makes this more than just another zombie story. The negatives are the spelling mistakes (I am sending a copy of them to the author) and the cursing, mostly in Spanish. That is the only Spanish spoken here in case you are wondering. With a bit of cleaning up and perhaps the author paying attention to the concerns of the reviewers, this could be a much higher score.
The two (or three) time lines confused me for awhile. I kinda figured it out a little over halfway through but up till that point it was frustrating and annoying. Also I didn’t get any real sense of time which I really wanted. The ending did make me tear up. It all came together in the end…just don’t give up on it. I’ll read the next book in the series.
The zombies were standout different. There was monstrous and sneaky sly monstrous. The story did a fantastic job of balancing them with survivors and the necessary battles to live. The more individual relationships will break the sternest heart. I cried.
A different type of zombie story that was very enjoyable to read. The characters are interesting & they have no superpowers beyond the ability to fight to survive in a dangerous world.
I've read the other reviews but disagree with most of them except the person giving it three stars.
I read a lot of books. On reading this story, I couldn't help but compare it with other stories I have read about this subject. This story often seemed to be copying them in parts. It was interesting, but it was quite disjointed. It had lots of grammar changes/mistakes and didn't flow. The ending was the best part.
Sometimes the timeline and people got confusing, but the author pulled it all together in the end. Good characters, had good development. I'm still a little stuck on the timeline and could probably have used more emphasis on how long ago and how the event occurred. All in all a good book.
