Intellectum [RPG Apocalypse: Book 1]

Rate this book
Blurb:

They say God created the Earth in six days. Highly advanced invaders, calling themselves Admins, destroyed Earth’s civilization and part of its biosphere in a single day.
People had always considered their minerals to be the most valuable material on Earth. They quickly learned how wrong they’d been. People turned out to be the most valuable material, or rather, the substance that could be produced from them.
Intellectum was a liquid so potent that a drop of it could bestow any creature or thing with sentience. It could make all sorts of objects smart, strong, and infuse them with magic.
The Admins gave the three hundred million survivors a slim chance to improve their lot in life through the Global Game. Though the Earthlings were supposed to breed in special farms in order to produce more Intellectum, at least they hadn’t been deprived of their right to fight back.

The new series is another winner!
I really enjoyed this book. I am wondering what will happen next to Alex and the earthlings. The grammar, syntax, and semantics keep getting better. Very well for a translated work. Awesome world-building, engrossing plot, and a well-written MC and side characters - this is a very likable book. Flash is probably my favorite character.

I couldn’t put it down... I’m the first to admit that I'm a big fan of Valery’s books. I strongly recommend this series to anyone that loves magic, characters, and evil monsters. Intellectum was most definitely worth the wait. I truly enjoyed this book!
I like the experiences and challenges the main character faces. That even though the cataclysmic powers given are powerful, they don’t become the focus of the story. There are powerful baddies, but most of the book is about growth and has great heart and humor. I hope this author continues to write more!

Another Great Book!
The further I get in the better it gets. The translation makes for a different but great read! It's almost like the book is being written By an AI (artificial intelligence) It really makes the book Pop. The ship supernova is cool. The plot is solid! For the genre, I found it original and a really fun read. The author laid a foundation for some really solid world-building and I'm excited to read more.

P.S. "Alex Phoenix lives, the bird from the ashes of its kin." This is so cool!!!

This is Tranformation's (his first book & trilogy) more sane brother; less random OP power ups (kinda? lol), no instant allies without proof/reason, and not everything gains stats/buffs without reason.

There are still some typos and wrong word choices like his first series, but the edit was much better this time. Looking forward to more once again!

Interesting new series

The main is bit overpowered but explanation for this works.

Does need a bit of minor editing , few spots where a word is missing , and a few typos ( saw a her that should have been he )

Enjoyed and looking forward to next part

The translation is definitely an improvement. As for the plot, it is much alike Transformation with a good overpowered MC, but is a fun read and a great example of LitRPG. Very cute pet. Flash is awesome! There are very few authors like Valery Starsky where I can say I've thoroughly enjoyed most, if not all, of their books/series. Keep up the good work!

Alert

“This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”

I am not going to share my reasoning, thoughts on the book, or any opinions that would influence your decision to read it. I am simply saying that I liked it. I would like you to read it and make your own decision. After all, you are a much better judge of what you will like than anyone here.

I will happily discuss the book with you on Goodreads if you are so inclined. As always, I am open to debates and arguments, but also vain enough to seek acknowledgement, so feel free to roast me or applaud my efforts. Either is acceptable, because if you are paying attention to me then you are at least considering the book. And THAT my friends is exactly why you see my comments here.

(Yep...hit with the banhammer.)

Cheers

ATROCIOUS TRANSLATION

The author through 4 books of a different series and now this book has been consistent in choosing the worst of translators. It literally feels like he used Google translate over and over again. Besides that this is a typical book about an over powered OP with the whole universe's entire reason for existence being to applaud the OP. That being said, an average book and author that I keep coming back to, sooo maybe something is wrong with my taste in authors. Nevertheless really bad translation

Book one

I don't know where to start. Either this was very badly written or the author got one of the worst translations in history.
The book is disjointed and choppy. There are giant plot holes, such as going from being on a plane leaving New York city to being on a train in Russia.
I know that this author can write a great story, this isn't it. Not even close.
I would pull this dumpster fire from Amazon until I could get a real pro or better yet a group of pro translators to do this story justice.

.05/10 DO NOT READ UNTIL FIXED!

The story has potential if you like OP mains in a LitRPG but otherwise the pacing felt very rushed, the characters were so accepting and formed friendships so fast they felt like NPCs. The stat system and abilities also made little sense, “the scores are made up and the points don’t matter anyway “. My final complaint is honestly the atrocious translation. If some meat was added to the story and it was then sent through proper editing and translation I’d read it again and rate much higher because with all that I still kind of enjoyed it…maybe.

Another post apocalyptic game world story

DNF at 14%

I am 14% into the book and nothing interesting happened. I was bewildered by the unexplained teleport from an american plain to a Russian train and got more and more annoyed with the protagonist. I think I will stop reading now..

Comments

Unfortunately, the protagonist is rather dumb and annoying. He really needs to learn to shut the f# up and listen..

The translation is bizarre at times.

Terrible translation. I couldnt get through the first two chapters it was so bad. The story premise may have been fine had the translation not been so poor. Dnf. Sad, because I know this author has done some decent other works.

Different

Nice unique take on the LitRPG apocalypse trope. Lots of fun to read. Perhaps a new genre, LitRPG opera? Similar in concept to Space Opera.

This book is good and I hope there is a second volume. It could use a run through by an editor but it was great. If I had a complaint it would be that it's a bit shorter than I'd like. For the genre, I found it original and a fun read.
