In seconds, Molly Kendrick’s life changes. She is a witness to an attempted murder, and the culprit who killed before doesn’t leave witnesses. In less than twelve hours, her entire life is uprooted, and her name is changed along with her identity to keep her alive. Who would think to look for a young nurse from Chicago’s lower east side on a wagon train traveling over a thousand miles from St. Louis to Oregon dressed as a nun with four orphan children? Father Thomas Callahan hopes that the killer, Vinney Piderro, won’t see the connection, as he sends Molly and four of his orphans west to be adopted. He hopes in the hands of his brother, Bo Callahan, they’ll all be safe. Bo’s not sure what to do with a nun and four small orphans on a wagon train traveling hundreds of miles across some of the worst land he’s ever seen. Add to that the rivers they have to cross, the deserts, the Indians, drought, cholera, and heartache that travelers have to contend with to get to Oregon. With four small children, and a killer on her trail, this young nun has even more to worry about. Then Bo meets Molly Kendrick. Soon after he discovers that Molly is not really a nun, and why it has to be kept secret, he realizes he has never met a woman quite like her. It certainly promises to be a wagon train trip they will never forget! As they travel westward, they become closer and closer. Bo never dreamed that he might find someone to love and who loves him. But can he keep her safe to start their new life together? Can Molly be the strong pioneer wife that Bo needs? Molly looks forward to her new life without regrets, firmly believing that love will find a way.
The plot was good and the beginning was good. The writing has no depth and the character development is not deep. The story is good but as I said reads like a journal that Molly kept instead of story that the reader can relate to and/or with. Being told all the supplies bought for the wagon train trip and then informed about all the supplies needed for the winter, why and then all the many unnecessary details added about everyday tasks just cluttered up the story. I did forge through though because I want either know how it ended but admittedly skipped through all the extra information about plowing building assorted things, etc.
I really like this book but I not a fan of rap that’s the only thing about this book I wish it did not have that being said, Love, violence, povs, a little steam, romance all around the wagon train, love that the orphans found loving homes. I really do love this author I almost read all here books but like I said wish there is no rap in them because some of them do. I glad it does have the two main characters have a love scene. Oh love the female character strong and not whinny 🥰
Very well written in that I didn't want to put it down. Loved the intriguing storyline and all the characters. I could picture everyone and everything they saw or did. Leaving me to hunt for Book2
This was a fun, happy, just like reading a Hallmark movie with a Lifetime Mofia twist and a Western shoot out ! Quite the combination but it all worked to a special fairytale ending!
This book was a story of a journey to Montana not really planned that way at first. A good adventure on the way from Chicago to Oregon but many settled for the wilderness of Montan
Story certainly did not fit together with wagon train times. So much was out of character, wording out of time period. The Nun who was a nurse preformed a episiotomy, back in primitive time. Wording was wrong through the book. Book not worth my time.
This book and the characters were told in such a way that you could imagine them in on the Oregon Trail. Their trials and all they had to deal with on a day to day basis was realistic.
I gave this book 3 stars because the author is a good story teller. The book though is frustrating to read as the punctuation is all wrong, the sentence structures awkward and often the wrong words used - suchba
I have mixed feelings about this book. A lot of it is written like a journal with little narrative, like a list of facts but no personalization. I learned a lot from this book, like how to survive in the wilderness, but the plot was too obvious with little preview.
