One Short Summer: A Friends To Lovers Roommate Romance, is book two in the Brooksville series by Jasmin Miller. This book can be read as a complete stand alone but the two main characters, Gabe and Monica, were first introduced in book one, Baking With A Rock Star. Gabe is Hudson’s brother and Monica is Hudson’s fiancé, Charlie’s best friend.

one short summer jasmin miller

Monica spent her life pursuing her love of dance. But a year ago, she broke her leg in an accident. She came to Brooksville to heal and moved in with Gabe. Her recovery hasn’t been as swift as she might have hoped and she has slowly slipped into a depression, spending her days watching reality television. There might have been a bit of a flirtation between Monica and Gabe when they first met. But that is long forgotten. They’ve become close friends, an easy camaraderie has developed. But Gabe is concerned with Monica’s state of mind. It’s like she has given up. So he decides it’s time for a change of scenery. It will do them both good. He’s taking Monica to his home in Lake Tahoe.

mouve

Monica didn’t realize how far she’d allowed herself to sink. Until she woke up. The change of scenery was just what she needed and she slowly found her way out of the fog she’d fallen in to. Something else was waking up as well, her attraction to Gabe. They’ve been living under the same roof for a year, they can practically finish each other’s sentences. But all of a sudden, she realizes just how attractive he really is! But he’s her best friend’s fiance’s brother. What if she gave in to her attraction and it fell apart? It would make things very uncomfortable for everyone.

Gabe is thrilled to see the improvement in Monica’s state of mind. At the same time, the spark comes back to their relationship, one he desperately wants to give in to.

“If this woman wants me, she can have me, in whatever way she’d like.”

I need you...

Gabe and Monica begin to navigate an entire new path in their relationship. One that is both scary and thrilling. Gabe is a relationship kind of guy, though. He wants the happy ever after. Monica not so much. She doesn’t believe she is a long term relationship kind of girl. Plus the fact that she has to leave Brooksville soon to go back to her career. A dancer’s life is on the road. A long distance relationship doesn’t work.

I really enjoyed this and I feel like Jasmin’s writing is growing in leaps and bounds. Her sexy scenes were fabulous. I definitely felt the heat between Gabe and Monica! This is a fun, sweet, sexy story with low angst that you are sure to enjoy. The epilogue was perfect. Not to mention her fabulous book covers! Now I can’t wait to see what she is going to do next! Make sure you also check out the first book, Baking With A Rock Star, and also, The Best Kind of Mistake, book one in The Best Kind novella series!

Immediately after finishing Baking with a Rockstar, I knew I wanted Monica and Gabe's story. I love a good friends to lovers romance and these two aren't just friends, they're roommates. This was the sweetest and swooniest story and I adored it!

Monica has been staying with Gabe for a while now. After an injury left her unable to continue her career in dance, she's missing that direction for her life. Dance has always been that one thing she wanted to do and not knowing if she'll be able to do it in the future terrifies her. Gabe is trying to help her move on. He knows she has it in her to dance again and they go on a bit of a get away to motivate her.
“Monica, you will dance again. You know that, right?” His voice is strong and steady, so full of confidence that my heart skips a beat. I shrug my shoulders but don’t respond. I want to believe it. I want to believe him. But I’m afraid it’s too late.

Gabe is an author and he has it bad for Monica. This retreat they go on makes him realize it even more. The more time these two spend together isolated, the more Monica's feelings for Gabe start to develop. I loved watching these two fall for one another. Watching them fall in love was the best. Just as this is all happening, Monica finds it in herself starting to dance again. And as thrilling as it is for her, if she goes back to her dance company, it takes her away from Gabe which is a scary thought... what's a girl to do?

Gabe was seriously the best hero. He was kind, generous, and all around a great guy. I loved Monica as well. It was great to watch her find herself again after the rut she was in. I also loved getting to see some of the characters from the first book in this series. Even though this book can be read as a complete stand-alone, I would recommend checking out the first book. It will give you a bit of Monica and Gabe's back story, plus it's a great read!

If you're looking for something sexy, sweet, fun, and flirty pick this up! You'll be left with a big smile on your face. This is the perfect summer read!!

Jasmin Miller wows again with her second standalone book in the Brooksville Novel series One Short Summer. This book drew me in from start to finish and I didnt want it to end. I really enjoyed this sweet and heartwarming tale.

This friends to lovers story just felt real and true. All of the emotions and actions made the story so much fun to read. Gabe and Monica's love story is sweet and spectacular. Everything I love in a good romance novel. I got so many swoony feels from their story and a smile on my face even more often. The situation they found themselves in just added to the build-up of feelings and made for the sweetest love story between two friends.

I simply love the writing style of Jasmin Miller, every moment into Gabe and Monica’s relationship was a pleasure to read. Their ups and downs, the hot and heavy had me continually turning those pages. This was sweet, feel good and the perfect summer read.

Five stars for sweet couple Monica and Gabe ❤!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

"One Short Summer" is the first book I've read by Jasmine Miller and I really love it. For sure, this won't be the last book I'll read by her.

This year I found out that I love reading a good friends-to-lovers book and this one has everything I want in books with this trope.

Monica and Gabe, as I said on beginning, are so sweet and adorable couple. Their story was fun to read and made me smile so much while I was reading.

This is a perfect book for bringing it with you on your summer vacation.

"You're something, Monica, I give you that. But that's always been the case. I've definitely never met anyone like you before."

My main problem with "Tempted By My Roommate" is that the characters lacked depth and I didn't connect with them at all. The miscommunication plot was also very annoying and pointless. However, not everything was bad and I liked that the heroine didn't give up her job to be with the hero. It was actually the hero that had to change his life to make their relationship work. That was definitely a nice surprise and something I like to see in new adult books.

A year ago after an injury left her unable to dance anymore, Monica moved from NYC to a small town to be closer to her best friend, Charlie. She’s been rooming with Charlie’s fiancé’s brother, Gabe, and the two of them have become best friends.

Gabe is a successful novelist and works from home, so he’s been able to help Monica through her healing process. They’ve always had a flirty banter between them, but nothing has come of it. That is, until now...

When Monica and Gabe take a vacation to Lake Tahoe, their friendship shifts and it’s clear the two of them have been harboring romantic feelings. And now they can’t see to keep their hands off each other.

But Monica is leaving Brooksville at the end of the summer to return to her dancing career in NYC. She wants a summer fling with Gabe, but he isn’t the casual relationship type of guy. Even if they both know it’s a bad idea, the two of them dive headfirst into this relationship, counting down the days until summer is over...

One Short Summer by Jasmin Miller is the second book in the Brooksville series. After reading Baking with a Rockstar, I couldn’t wait to read Gabe and Monica’s story! The two of them have such a great and easy friendship that built into something special. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and this one definitely did it for me! 4/5 stars.

I have only been waiting for this story since I got my hands on book one and as soon as I saw this hit my mail inbox, MY HAPPINESS WENT THROUGH THE ROOF!

description

This story happens post-Baking With A Rockstar. (if you haven’t read that yet, hop yourself off this page and straight over to a copy of it, and start reading, mate). We — briefly — met Monica in it, who’s best friends with the leading lady, Charlie.

Monica is currently in a downward spiral, recuperating in Brooksville, CA — where all the hot guys are — after a car accident broke her leg and put her dancing career on the back burner. Not wanting to jump into the groove again *literally* she instead takes up residence on a couch, living on ice cream and movies.

Gabe — Hudson’s equally swoon-worthy brother — graciously offers up his guest house in Baking with a Rockstar to Monica as a place for her to stay during her time in Brooksville. *we quickly find out that she can’t be trusted in a guest house* and she moves into Gabe’s house. AKA close proximity to Gabe.

Quickly becoming tight friends — and trying to deny their crazy, sexual attraction — Gabe decides to whisk Monica off to his summer home, hoping it will cure his writer’s block and give her a reason to start dancing again.

description

“What happened between us at the dance studio has started something inside of me. Opened a box with a big read “Dangerous” sign that started a whole hormonal process I was neither expecting nor prepared for.”

This story filled me with ALL. THE. GOODNESS that I felt I was missing in Baking with a Rockstar. *because Jasmin Miller knows how to tease us to no end, and leave us hanging.* All I wanted was to know the deal-io between Gabe and Monica and I am so satisfied that I have finally gotten it!

Me…reviewing Baking with a Rockstar: “But also, let’s talk about Monica (Mo) and Gabe for a hot second. I CRIED when I finished this and realized they don’t have their own story (*fingers crossed that there’s a big YET there*). PLEASE Jasmin Miller. PLEASE let there be a Mo and Gabe story. The dialogue between them had me DYING and I cannot live a fulfilled life without knowing what’s going on between them.”

Needless to say…I may have been a little obsessed with wanting to read the sass and fire between them, so I’m over the freaking moon that Jasmin Miller decided to grace us with their story as the second book in this series. *bowing down to you*

“I’ve never understood why people can’t just say something nice about another person. Doesn’t cost you more than ten seconds of your time but can easily make a person’s day, or even week."

If you’re into rom-coms, friends to lovers, roommates to lovers, HEA all day bae, ALL THE THINGS, I fully recommend that you pick up this book when it drops. Because listen, it’s hella good, hella romantic, hella summery, hella worth reading.

This is the third book I’ve read by this author and I have enjoyed each and every one of them. I can now be certain that I am a fan of her writing and her stories and I can’t wait to read more by her.
This is the story of Gabe and Monica, the brother of Hudson and best friend of Charlie from Baking with a Rockstar. Monica is a professional dancer and after an accident she takes a break and stays in Brooksville. Gabe takes her as a resident in his house and they’re both dealing with their demons.

Gabe is an author who’s facing a writer’s block and she’s depressed from the possibility of never again being able to dance because of this mishap. Time is the best doctor and Gabe takes her away to a cabin in order to help both of them face their demons. It’s the place where always helps him with this writing, so he likes to think that it would also help her with getting over her problems and being able to dance again. But Monica has always been flirty with him before this took a toll on her and this would also mean her flirtatious self to return as well.

The problem is that he’s the family type of guy, whereas she’s not and all she wants is to go back to touring and dancing all over the world. How are they going to face the situation? Are they ready to keep this thing between them just for one short summer? I definitely recommend reading this and enjoying the ride! :)

English:
"One Short Summer" by Jasmin Miller is the second book in the "Brooksville" series. A super-sweet contemporary romance between a dancer and a writer. This book can be read without having to read the previous one, but it's better to get an idea of how beautiful the Mitchell brothers are.

Monica, 24, moved into the home of Gabe Mitchell, 27, the popular writer, when she went to visit her friend Charlie in Brookville after a car accident. At first, the flirting was constant but after a while, things calmed down. Now Gabe will have to go to Lake Tahoe to concentrate on his novel, and Charlie will accompany him, returning to revive the chemistry that emerged long ago.

I wanted to read this book because these characters already appeared in "Baking With A Rockstar". Gabe is Hudson's brother and Monica is Hudson's fiancée, and also Charlie's best friend. The flirting was there, and although later calmed down, after a while, everything came back and in the best way. They were perfect and so cute together. They pulled each other and helped each other what made the relationship work each with a different past, their fears and insecurities. The Mitchell brothers captivate your heart with only the first few pages and also the protagonists.

If you've read Baking with a Rockstar then like me you've been waiting for Gabe and Monica's story since then. It was a long wait but it was worth it. This story was super cute and Gabe was just best friend goals!!! Not only are Monica and Gabe friends but they have been roommates for about a year, ever since Monica suffered was in an accident and came to visit her bff Charlie in Brooksville while in recovery.

Monica and Gabe hit it off from the start and he offers her a place to stay. They become friends immediately and grow super close. Gabe is always there for Monica and tries to bring her out of the dark whole she's in due to not being able to dance for so long. As an attempt to bring the vivid, fun Monica back he takes her along with him on vacation to another small town where he owns a house and usually takes off for a "writer's retreat".

It works; Monica slowly starts getting out of the dark fog that was her mind and gets all her sass and lively personality back. Losing the fog also happens to make her see Gabe in a new light or more like, makes it impossible to ignore her attraction to him and their insane sexual tension. Soon not only does Monica start dancing again but she and Gabe also start dancing between the sheets and oh boy is it hot and so fun. I love these two.

If you love romcoms with a teeny tiny bit of emotion, friends to lovers or roommates to lovers, this book just might be for you. It's also a perfect summer read and just a super swoony love story with an amazing hero. You also get to see a lot of Charlie, Hudson and Mira and it's awesome.

Do you set reading goals? One of my goals this year was to read 100 books. After finishing Tempted By My Roommate by Jasmin Miller I have officially met that goal! With how slumpy I’ve been this year I’m shocked I hit this goal as soon as I have. ⁣

Tempted By My Roommate is the sequel/companion novel to Baking With a Rockstar. Monica is Charlie’s best friend and Gabe is Hudson’s brother. This book takes place a little over a year after the last book ended. Monica was healing from a broken leg and decided to come out to Bakersville and moved in with Gabe. It is their romance story, which I was really excited for when we met them in the first book.⁣

❤️Review❤️⁣

If you are looking for a fun and sweet romance, you need to check this series out! I loved the dynamic between Monica and Gabe. They have a wonderful banter since they clearly like each other, but are scared to admit it. Their personalities balance and compliment each other so well. The dance elements were incorporated beautifully as well as Gabe’s writers block. I enjoyed getting to see Charlie, Hudson, and Mira again. This family and small town vibe make the series so comforting. I’m really hoping that Jasmin Miller will continue on and write books for the rest of Gabe and Hudson’s siblings!⁣

This is available on Kindle Unlimited as well so go check it out!⁣

4 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⁣

One Short Summer
by Jasmin Miller

|Thank you to @jasminmiller for the ARC #partner|

One Short Summer is a stand-alone novel in the Brooksville series. I have not read the first book but I had no trouble getting into and understanding this one.

Gabe and Monica are roommates and best friends. She's struggling with getting her dance career back after a severe injury. He's battling writer's block and impending deadlines. Gabe whisks the two of them away to his vacation home for a time of rejuvenation and restoration. In a new environment, Gabe and Monica discover chemistry and feelings that they hadn't previously identified. With Monica due to leave Brooksville at the end of the summer, these two need to work out their feelings and their future before the sun sets on this one short summer.

This book is lighthearted and so much fun! Gabe and Monica have a sweet friendship that turns into a slow burn as this story progresses. Their chemistry is undeniable and the back and forth of should-we-or-shouldn't-we is captivating and compelling. Several times I wanted to shove these two together already! (wink) The supporting cast of Gabe's family, Monica's best friend, and the townspeople of Lake Tahoe are such a lovely element within the story.

One Short Summer is an easy, breezy, fresh and flirty friends-to-lovers romance. It is available NOW and FREE on Kindle Unlimited!!

"Wow! These Mitchell brothers are just so swoon-worthy! I was really looking forward to this book and I wasn’t disappointed, I just flew through this story."

First, we had Hudson and Charlie, in Baking With A Rockstar, and now this story is about Hudson’s brother, Gabe, and Charlie’s best friend, Monica. From friends and roommates to finally realising the feelings they both have was a delicious slow burn. What smooth-talking sweethearts these brothers are. Their whole family is adorable and I would love to be a part of their lives.

I got so many feels from their story that I had a lump in my throat a few times and a smile on my face even more often. The situation they found themselves in just added to the build-up of feelings and made for a sweet love story between two friends.

I loved the writing style of Jasmin Miller, every moment of the journey into Gabe and Monica’s relationship has been a pleasure. Their ups and downs, the hot and heavy had me continually page-turning. I hope we get a story for their twin sisters, Rose and Dahlia too; I’d definitely read that.

This story is just perfect for romance lovers. In each chapter the narrator changes, so we can understand better the two main characters. The plot is fast paced and you can read the book in just a few days without losing your interest. There are parts of it that are really funny and other that are full of emotions.
The main characters are Monica and Gabe. Monica is a dancer and after a car accident, she has to quit dancing for a while. Gabe is a sweet and caring guy, who's taking care of her. I really liked both of these characters and I enjoyed the conversations between them.
All in all, I think it's a great story, especially for those who enjoy reading romance novels. I rarely read romance, but I liked this book, so you should give it a try.

So good

I'm loving Jasmin's work. She's definitely becoming one of my favorite authors to read. I loved Gabe and Monica. They were definitely an opposites attract couple. They were too perfect. The emotions with Monica in this book broke my heart. But I adored her. Gabe?? What a hottie! I loved the epilogue as well. This book was so good, I finished it in one sitting. Loved it.

This book is such a sweet story. If you like rom-coms that are settled in the small town then this is a perfect book for you. This is a friends to lovers story about Monica and Gabe, two characters that we met in the first book of this Brooksville series, Baking with a Rockstar. This is a story that will show you that friends are there to push you forward when you feel down. A story that will show you that by having right people by your side you can be unstoppable.
Monica and Gabe are roomates which became best friends and later they started their own love story. I loved how their relationship slowly developed, loved their conversations and jokes, loved the support they had for each other regarding their carriers. I like stories where you can see supportive and loving families and Mitchell family is just like that.
This is a perfect read for this summer, a story that will warm your heart when you see how little is needed for happiness. Movie nights and takeouts are sometimes all you need to be happy if it is with the right person. Monica and Gabe were obviously right for each other from the start, especially because they are opposites, and opposites attract, don't they? And the epilogue? I just loved it, it was perfect to wrap up this story.

"Gabe stays silent, giving me time to answer him. He always does that. Being there for me without being pushy."

"It's like he knows exactly how I work when I have no clue myself, feeling lost more often than not."

5 roomate romance stars!! Such a sweet, addicting summer read!!

Gabe is tired of seeing his roomate, Monica, waste her life on the couch after her accident, he decides to whisk her away to his private world. And he's hoping it will help with his writers block. But he never expected that being in such small quarters would open up his heart to the idea of falling for his roommate... but crazier things have happend.

The idea of this book was so sweet and romantic! I had a hard time taking myself out of this book, I had to know what ws going to happen next!! Such a great book, I can't wait to read more!

We met Monica and Gabe in the first book, Baking with a Rockstar, and I was so looking forward to their story! Gabe and Monica are spending some time together, but not really, he needed a place to get away, think but as they forge an easy friendship, he's worried about her well being too. She is recouping from a dancing injury, and slowly is getting depressed, so he takes her to his Tahoe house for change of scenery. Its what they both needed. I really loved seeing dual POV's. I loved Gabe's POV. I've always loved seeing the guys inner thoughts and really seeing how they open their eyes and see what's right in front of them.

I really am lovin Jasmin's writing. Its sooo easy, so fun, engaging and keeps it very interesting. Easy, fun, steamy stories with so much love and banter. I would definitely recommend this story and all the rest of her backlist.

I really enjoyed this story. I shows that no matter how strong and confident some is they always need the support of those they care about.

Monica and Gabe are similar but yet different. Monica is carefree and crazy, were as Gabe is quite and reserved. Yet they both struggle in the confidence of who they need to be.

With the straight and encouragement, both Monica and Gabe are able to achieve what they want, in the process fall in love.

The characters are well written, they leave you smiling at the end.

Fantastic

Gabe and Monica’s story is so much more than I expected. Their love is genuine and surprising to them both. With a year of being best friends, neither truly want to go further expecting it to ruin their friendship, but it only strengthens it. When it’s time for her to return to her world, it’s like a punch in the gut to them both, but for once they’re not good with their words and hide what they’re feeling. I love the HEA though.

This was such a wonderful book, the first I have read from Jasmin Miller. Her character development was absolutely out-of-this world. They were deep, caring, communicative, and were provided with real world, honest emotions. It was so easy to be drawn into this world with the level of realism the author created. Both Gabe and Monica were hesitant to hope for more given their seemingly divergent paths. Would their self-denial cement their separation?

One Short Summer was my first Jasmin Miller read & it was fantastic!! I loved these characters right off the bat, quiet but sensual Gabe & impassioned Monica. Each of them had some personal struggles to overcome but I felt it was very realistic. The roommates/friends to lovers storyline was exactly what I needed to read right now.⁣
