An alternative cover edition for this ASIN can be found here. The first time I heard his cheesy pick-up line, he made me laugh. The next night, I fell madly in love. Then he shattered my world without speaking a word, leaving me with an empty heart and a hollow soul.
Still, I tried to fix what was broken, only to be humiliated beyond repair. I couldn’t believe the same man who promised me heaven so ruthlessly put me through hell with lips that once worshipped me.
I thought that was the end of us, but then a life-altering discovery threatened more than just me, and the least likely man to stand at my side was the one who refused to leave it.
The first time Anna tried to read a romance novel, her hair caught on fire when she leaned over a candle to sneak a peek at her mom’s Harlequin. She thinks being hit on the head with a shirtless Fabio until the smoke cleared is what sparked the flame for her love of romance. Anna was born in Wisconsin, but currently lives in Texas with her husband and two boys. She writes sexy romance that always has a happy ending and loves bringing characters back for cameos. Less than six degrees of separation connects any of her novels. This was a quote from the heroine in the first pages of this story - before it becomes apparent that 'dignity' is not a concept she is actually familiar with.
Spoilers ahead.
This hero was a nut job. He had the emotional maturity and impulse control of a toddler - or a person with rapid-cycling bipolar disorder. He was awful and no hero at all, IMO. When he was angry he said and did such hateful things. Asking the h to finish him off after she interrupted him receiving a blowjob from a groupie, for instance. I know, right? What a charmer 👎🖕. Then he'd feel remorse after calling her a whore or some other vile act, give the puppy dog eyes and all the apologies for being a dick - only to do an about-face two minutes later based on something he saw or heard. And this was a thing with him, not just a single incident. Way too much push and pull. He was tiresome and I loathed him.
The h was worse. For two seconds it looked like she might be real and relatable. Boy, did I get that wrong. She was an embarrassment and kind of a slapper too, if you ask me. She f*cks the hero ONCE and of course, it's insta-love (insta-stupid, more like), but when she never hears from him again she falls into a weepy, depressed puddle of pathetic - for three. fucking. years. During that time she gets engaged and strings along a genuinely decent guy until he finally dumps her in self-defence. Then she gets drunk and spreads her legs for a guy who turns out to be the H's roommate - and enemy. The first time he sees her after three years is during her flight of shame from this OM's room. Aye, that's some dignity right there, I'm here to tell ya 🙄.
Then - she falls pregnant. No surprise, the OM loses his shit and wants nothing to do with it. This heroine was especially STUPID and what really drove that point home was when she accusingly asked the if he'd used a condom.
Sorry, what?!?
What right does she have to be angry at him for something she should have checked?
In my mind, a WOMAN gets pregnant - not a man - so it falls on the WOMAN to ensure that she is protected. Sure, not wearing a condom was a jerk move but as the one with more risk of consequences - i.e., unwanted pregnancy - it was on HER to protect herself. If she was too drunk and stupid to do that it's hardly his fault she found herself up the duff. And he might have been a jackass, but he was spot-on when he told her that since she was out whoring he'd assumed she'd handled birth-control.
It is a wonder to me what is considered a 'beautiful, heartfelt romance' these days. What is considered a 'swoony' hero and a 'kick-ass' heroine. I can tell you that for me this story falls way short of any of this. No sane woman would put up with the likes of Jamie. What kind of life would that be, constantly dealing with his jealousy and insecurity, enduring his emotional abuse when he overreacts in anger, constantly on guard for his pendulous moods? Uh, no bloody thanks, all the same.
Don't even get me started on the ridiculousness of the H accepting that baby and not resenting how it came to be. Or a labour and delivery nurse who knows all day she's in labour, yet instead of getting to a hospital winds up birthing her child on the floor of her lawyer's office. And of course, she's shocked because even though her water had broken and she'd had contractions ALL DAY, she 'thought she had plenty of time'. Gimme a feckin' break.
No man is worth losing one's dignity, indeed...assuming one had any to begin with.

Justifying Jamie is my first book by new to be author Anna Brooks. I don’t read a lot of Rockstar romances at all but when I saw the blurb for this one I instantly wanted to read it because I was intrigued.
A second chance romance that will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions, full of passion and angst.
At times I got so frustrated with the characters because of their actions and I just wanted to smack them both up side the head.
Over all a great emotional, rockstar romance that I would recommend!
This is the first book that I have read from this author and it blew me away. Jamie and Mercy were amazing. They met and fell in love but because of a simple mistake, they lost 3 years of being together. You will not be disappointed by the time you are finished with this book. It will take you on a very emotional roller coaster. You will not want to put it down because you need to see how it ends.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
When I first saw the cover of ‘Justifying Jamie’ I was intrigued to find out more about this book. And when I read the book description I definitely found myself wanting to read this book. So I signed up for an ARC and was super excited to receive one only a little while later.
In ‘Justifying Jamie’ we meet Jamie and Mercy. They are both from two different worlds, but meet at Mercy’s workplace. That meeting changes everything. Jamie and Mercy spend one magical night together and make plans for a future together. But unfortunately life has different things in store for them. And soon they have to face life on their own again. But that one night, they both can’t seem to forget.
It’s a little hard for me to write this review, because I honestly are still a little confused about this book. I definitely enjoyed this book, but I didn’t love it. The two main characters Jamie and Mercy are fun to get to know, but they were also a little aggravating. I loved the way they fall for each other, but I hated the way they where after that. I mean, come on.. talk with each other!! Sigh..
The chemistry between the two main characters, I could easily feel. And that’s the part about this book I definitely enjoyed the most. The way they met and their conversations then.. so funny! But overall I found time flying by way to fast. In one chapter years would go by. And not at the beginning of the chapter, but even on a new paragraph. I didn’t really like that. I felt like time went way to fast.
There was also a twist in this book I just couldn’t really enjoy. Everyone makes mistakes, but in this book the characters did stuff I just found stupid and annoying. But I can definitely see potential in the other characters in this book and their stories.
Overall I enjoyed the romance but had some trouble with how fast the time went by. Still.. it was a fun Saturday night read.
In chapter one, the brother has a baby for the very first time - and then in chapter three, 3 years later, he has a baby for the very first time. Whut?
I should have taken that as a sign to flounce right away. But dumbass me kept reading on. There are several timeline issues with this one. But the woe-is-me from both the main characters for YEARS is tiresome. And then she hooks up with hero's bandmate after not seeing him for years, and he goes into a tizz. Oh yes. I assume the bandmate gets the boot some time after this, since he's new and all and never really fit in with the others. This is the weirdest antagonist I've come over in a VERY long time.
I jump off the book and the series here. But let me take a gander at what else happens in this book.
- She gets preggo, it's not hero's baby. But she's a delivery nurse, so of course she gets pregnant. It's in the cards. - He's a douche, because he has been so far. Why would he change? I expect cheating somewhere down the line, because other characters have cheated off page, and it looks like it's a go-to for this author.
I didn't expect her to find him, but I expected her to figure out he's a rock star and to have a newfound interest in the band - but that would have made it difficult for the author to make her hook up with the bandmate "unknowingly" and get caught by the hero. It bugs me that she doesn't know who he is. It doesn't matter how uninterested you are in music, if your hometown (big or small) has famous residents (unless it's a place like New York City, Los Angeles, Miami or Atlanta), the town will be proud of the hometown sons and plaster their faces everywhere! She would not be able to stay oblivious.
I'm also peeved that he didn't go looking for her because, gasp, his ego got bruised. He knew where she worked, even what ward she worked at. She's bestie with his sister in law. And yet they NEVER run into each other until she randomly hooks up with his bandmate? Yeah. No. These are not "red herrings", they're annoyances. It makes me believe the author had a thought, but abandoned it for a shinier thought five paragraphs down. A developmental editor is your best friend.
The plot in this one is so thin and all over the place, it's clearly been written to trend (a trend that's never really taken off...). The timeline issues, the random and weird plots, the meh characters - why does this book exist? Clearly the author's heart wasn't in this story, and it shows.
What a hot mess!!! It's bad enough that Jamie lives an irresponsible and immoral life as a rock star. It comes with the territory. But what is Mercy's excuse? She is a nurse and good health practices is a huge part of her job. Being angry with your life choices and your selfish mother is no excuse to go home with a stranger, you just met in a bar, and have unprotected sex. The consequences, for Mercy, are mind-blowing!
What a crazy amazing read this was. I’m always intrigued by this author and what ticks away in her mind, this story of Mercy and Jamie was outstanding. Jamie’s in a band, no relationships, just booze, women and lots of sex, that is until he meets Mercy or otherwise known as Daisy and Donny. While in the hospital visiting his newly born niece, brother and his wife does he have his first encounter with Mercy and is intrigued by her. Mercy on the other hand thinks he’s a jerk and a player and she’s not that far off. Jamie sees what his brother has and doesn’t think he will ever find “the one” in his line of work, but one never knows. Mercy is strong willed and has a meddling mother and a judgmental sister and all Mercy wants is to make everyone happy, but that doesn’t always work out. A chance meeting between these two and the chemistry and connection they feel is nothing like they’ve ever felt before and neither wants to leave, but when a family emergency comes up, Mercy (Daisy) has to bolt, but leaves a note and a number. No call, nothing but memories for the two of them, a wrong number, heartbreak and misunderstandings lead these two down a path they weren’t ready for. A fiance, a broken engagement, hurtful words, lies, love, and denial. Their lives are more intertwined than they think, with forces working against them, will the time ever be right for Mercy and Jamie to finally air out their baggage and make things right between them? I could go on, but I don’t want to spoil anything for you. The ride we are taken on is so emotional and you will want to smack Jamie upside his head and Mercy too, once they realize that they are the ones standing in the way of their own happiness will they get out of the way to have it?
Ohhhhh Anna Brooks you have done it yet again. This book was Phenomenal. I read in one sitting. I couldn't wait to turn the page or get to the next chapter. I was to damn excited to see what happens next.
This story happens over a 3 Year period. Truste nothing is dragged out, nothing is boring and it definitely not shitty dialogues. Jamie and Mercy definitely come from different worlds. They are the total opposite of each other even when it comes to personality.
The twists and turns and OMG did that just happen was things you dont see coming. These are clearly two ppl so inlove but fate is saying it isnt time yet. Fate plays horride trivks on them and in turn they do mean hurtful things somewhat unknowingly but all the same hurts.
These two are definitely made for each other, from the moment they met their Chemistry is intense. Everything that can pulls them together. Watching th finally get their HEA was fucking awesome.... Hope you enjoy these two's story as much as I loved reading it.
Wow!! I know I’ve said it before, but it has to be repeated… Anna Brooks is an amazing author. This story had me everywhere and nowhere at the same time. I was talking (well yelling might be more like it) at my phone, I cried, I was angry and I was happy. Sweet Baby Jesus, it had me coming and going!
Jamie and Mercy’s journey was such a struggle…. They give second chance romance a whole new meaning. The love they had for each other was so strong, it just jumped off the pages at you. Yet, the hurt they caused each other was so brutal that it made your heart physically ache. This was truly one of those books you just can’t put down. It’s gonna stay with me for a while and I a’int complaining about it lol
The best part is it’s only book one in the series so we got a whole lot more coming from this cast of characters and I just cannot wait for it!!!!!
Jamie is a successful musician who thrives on the partying lifestyle but is beginning to wonder what if when he sees how happy his brother is with his wife and infant child. A chance meeting with a nurse while visiting his brother starts to look more like fate than coincidence.
After another successful blind date that was arranged by her mother all Mercy wants is a drink and some peace. When she happens to see Jaimie, the man she met earlier that day at the hospital, what starts out as a conversation turns into a steamy evening, but a misunderstanding separates them for three years. When life brings them together once again will this be their second chance, or has too much happened in their lives for them to recover what they lost?
Jamie and Mercy’s journey certainly had its challenges but that only made the ending that much sweeter.
I’m on the fence about this book. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. I thought the chemistry between Jaime and Mercy was great. Still, they let a misunderstanding come between them, and from there one mistake leads to another. There’s a lot of angst, a little too much for my liking. I found myself aggravated with both the main characters several times, as well as with Jaime’s bandmate, Kolby.
Despite this, I’m interested in seeing what happens next with the band and with Liam and his wife. That ended on an interesting note and I’m curious to see where that’s going.

Justifying Jamie is my first book by new to me Author Anna Brooks.
A few times during this book I felt I was missing something especially when there was references to other characters which after a bit of digging I discovered Liam who is Jamie's brother and his sister in law are in a previous book by this author but with this being the start of a new series I was left a little confused so I discovered their story is in PROVE ME RIGHT, which is the series IT'S KIND OF PERSONAL #3 so obviously this is a crossover series which is not mentioned in the blurb. It did leave me curious as to what had happened in their story and I probably will also read that but I don't like going backwards hence starting what I thought was a new series.
This is Jamie and Mercy who meet one night in a bar, they have a one night stand together and the chemistry is off the charts. Mercy has to leave is a hurry following an incident with her mother and through a misunderstanding and a mix up with phone numbers they don't see each other again for three years all the while each of them never forgetting the other.
Jamie is a Rock-star touring, having the high life and plenty of groupies where Mercy is a nurse and under pressure to settle down by her pushy mother.
It was an interesting story, I got annoyed with the characters, frustrated with their actions so there was angst and some drama's but it does eventually lead to a hea.
In summary I would definitely read more in this series and maybe start by reading some of the books previously released too, I did find the authors writing easy to follow and found it also had just the right amount of drama and hotness to keep you turning the pages.
Jamie & Mercy's story starts out fun & sweet & OH SO SEXY. They have chemistry off the charts right away, and that parlays into a hookup. But... their connection is so strong, neither of them stays in "hookup" mindset for long. Unfortunately, due to the way they were bantering and a series of unfortunate circumstances, a misunderstanding occurs that rips them apart.
That's when the emotional and angstiness begins. I just wanted to hug them both SO HARD! And also possibly smack the back of their heads "Gibbs style." ; ) They each have things they need to work through surrounding not only misunderstandings and their relationship, but individually as well. There is GREAT character development in this story!
There were parts that made me laugh, and parts that made me cry (even on the 2nd & 3rd read-through) but I enjoyed the whole thing - even the angsty bits which y'all know I'm not usually a fan of those!! Highly recommend this story - well written, well told, well developed. Thumbs up & 5++ stars!! : )
I was excited to see a new series from this author as I've really enjoyed previous stories. I loved the beginning of this book and the ending...it was the parts in between that I struggled with. The actions of Jamie and Mercy had me shaking my head and really disliking both characters.
BTW you've met Jamie's brother Liam in the It's Kind of Personal series, his and Meara's story was Prove Me Right.
Dnf- Just so over the top. Jamie was super immature. He knew she was a nurse and which hospital. If he was so in love I'll bet he could of figured out how to get ahold of her. I'm almost done with book and Charity seems to be most logical of any of the characters. I just couldn't justify Jamie, sorry.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
2.5 stars....way OTT in words and actions by both parties...If the authors objective was to have the reader say WTF multiple times then mission accomplished....I love rockstar romances, some of the best books I read were rockstar but this was too much.
Donny and Daisy have a one nighter, don't exchange their real names (jamie/mercy) but declare everlasting love. Due to a mistake they don't see each other again until he sees her leaving his roommates bedroom 3 years later even though she is BFF with his SIL and her brother works for him.
“Daisy? Really?” “Yeah. Isn’t it obvious?” “This ought to be good.” She crosses her arms, pushing her perfect breasts up higher in her black sweater. “Why?” “Because I picked you.”
Jamie is living the dream he has his band Ruin, groupies, alcohol but when looking at his brother Liam and the family he has built he feels like somethings missing. When he sees his niece Jamie feels like he’s ready to build a family of his own and Meara jokes telling him he will find that someone special that night at the bar she owns and she will even break her no-hookup-at-Kelly’s rule. Mercy is a nurse and after running late for work and getting coffee spilled on her scrubs thanks to some Don Juan she has had it but her mom insists on her going on a date. After her date Mercy heads to the Kelly’s bar where she ends up seeing Don Juan again. Jamie says his name is Donny and he calls her Daisy. After dropping funny pick up lines and laughing Mercy gets upset when he tells her to leave cause he’s not about to break the rule. Once outside of the bar Jamie takes Mercy to a hotel room. After a night of what seems like love, passion, and something that could last forever Jamie wakes up alone. Mercy leaves her number and rushes out the door leaving Jamie asleep to be by her moms side as she is in the hospital. So when Jamie never calls and Mercy left without saying a word and neither have a real name to go by this story heads into a world of misunderstandings, heartbreak, and a big twist but a happy ending.
I was so happy when I got this arc since I’m a big rock star romance reader. I loved this story from the beginning it was funny and I loved the characters chemistry. I also love that even within a few years they still felt the same about each other even with all the fighting and misunderstandings that occurred. At one point this story had me screaming in my pillow cause I wasn’t sure I could go on reading anymore though. I was just like whhyyyyyy!!! It was an emotional roller coaster. I did however love how things came together at the end. It was a fast read and worth all the times I put it down and picked it back up again to read some more.
Justifying Jamie is my first book by Anna Brooks. And it surprised me in a big way. Because how in the name of all the holy Romance gods and goddesses I have never read her before? I love her sharp, edgy and intense writing. She poured so much raw emotions in the characters. It was not safe. It was not sweet. It was an adrenaline fuelled reckless ride of passion and feelings.
This book was firework of emotions. I mean I expected drama and angst because it is a rockstar romance. But I did not expect Jamie and Mercy's story hit me so hard. Jamie is the bad boy rockstar who meets Mercy while visiting his ex band mate Liam's newborn baby. Mercy works as a nurse in the same hospital. A sassy sweet chance encounter in hospital's cafeteria followed by a chance encounter in a bar followed by the most intense and earth shattering love making ever. They both thought they have something special but then comes a series of huge mistakes and misunderstandings. And you will get the epic, angsty and heartbreaking love story. The twists are too good and my jaw dropped to floor so many times.
The chemistry between Jamie and Mercy is complicated. Both of them are flawed characters who are not always doing the right thing. Rather the exact opposite. Damn I love Jamie with his brooding intensity and impulsivity and heartaching pain. I can feel his suffering because he was trying to be the nice guy. But the circumstances tore his heart apart and he became this rude, angry and vulnerable person. Mercy has all my empathy and love. Controlled by her parents, trying to make the right choice but making unknowing mistakes, getting her heart broken multiple times..but she still has so much love and strength in herself. Their chemistry really resonated with me and it was a delicious treat. Goose bump inducing, tear jerking, dreamy smiling kind of treat.
Gripping storyline. Real, honest and intense emotions. Amazing writing. Unforgettable and imperfect characters. Justifying Jamie by Anna Brooks is a sexy, swoony and gritty rockstar romance!
This book is close to a second chance romance, or back and forth romance.
We have Jamie - who is in not just a band, but, The Band, Ruin. The concerts sell out, booking a full stadium/ area at every show. He's been with his band since high school, and they hit it big time and now travel he world playing music.
Mercy is a nurse working in the OBGYN section. She loves what she does. She has always been a Daddy's girl. Her mom is a Dr but, they don't have the best relationship. Mercy also has a sister, who is usually always in her business.
One day after working a long night shift, she is waiting in line at the coffee cart. She is behind a couple who make googly eyes and looks at each other and talk crazy sweet nothings to each other. Mercy is about to gag on what they are saying. Of course the guy notices her rolling her eyes and her facial expressions are off the chart. Mercy see's that same guy again after she went on a blind date set up by her mom. The guy is the same one from the coffee cart. After making flirty small talk, he follows Mercy out to her car, but, then kisses her. Mercy has never had a kiss like that. And of course they go to a local hotel and continue to be with each other until the next morning.
Mercy leaves him for an emergency. She writes down her number thinking he will call, but, weeks turn into months turn into 3 years and still no sexy mystery guy. She can't believe she's never heard from him until one fateful one night stand with his roommate / band mate.
Will Mercy & Jamie be able to move on from their past mistakes with each other to work on the now that they have with each other? Or will their past keep them from one another?
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
Neither of them were really looking for love, but when they bumped into one another that night it found them. It was an instant connection, when Jamie's eyes found her in that crowded bar he couldn't bare to look away, she was so beautiful, it was as if she called out to him. So he marched over, laid down some funny lines, and some dirty ones too, and that was all it took to convince her to give him a shot. They shared a insanely passionate night together and he expected her to be there the next morning when he opened his eyes, but she was gone, and all she left was her number on a sheet of paper.
But things came to an abrupt and unexpected end, the plans they made that night slipped right out the door with her. Now they have a second chance at love... but first they must find a way to forgive!
Justifying Jamie is a heart-torturing second chance romance story that will have you floating on the clouds one moment and your heart in your throat the next. It took a lot for these two to find their way back to one another, but once they did they realized there was a lot standing in their way. Old hurts, mistrust, misunderstandings, meddling exes and family, the list goes on and on... but they were determined to be happy. It wasn't an easy road to their forever and there were moments I had my doubts that they would be able to get there, but they did... it just took a few more scars and lots of patience! I really enjoyed this one, it had the angst and drama I crave, steamy bits and dirty talk that made me blush, and the emotional stuff that gave my heart a thorough work-out... it was perfect from beginning to end! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
The author was new to me, but I'm so glad that I gave this one a try. Anna Brooks has earned my respect for being a fabulous writer and she has done such an amazing job with this book! It was a second-chance rockstar romance but very different from anything else I have read in this trope . What I loved the most - The characters are flawed, the story is gritty and writing is sharp. The right ingredients to make this story a terrific entertainer. It was a not a simple and casual read. The circumstances, situations and misunderstandings and their consequences led to some sticky, and hard times and as frustrating and heart-breaking it was at times, it added to the beauty of the book and made it all the more alluring. And the way everything unfolded, made it all the more realistic relatable. It's the characters that stole my heart and not because they are so 'perfect' and 'right'. On the contrary it was their flowed nature, loving so passionately and yet falling victims to hostile situations and misunderstanding that made them 'feel' and empathize for them. Jamie in his own light was a compelling, brooding hero, who had this protective and possessive flair and Masie, on the other hand complimented him with her demure and matured, nature. Together they made a explosive and perfect couple and like destiny had it, they got a second-chance to make things 'right', which took a long route that tested them , their love and their regained trust in one another at every stage. Overall I was completely invested in their story and enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
Cuttingly and often brutally honest, Anna Brooks has pulled no punches in the lives of the women who have fallen in love with a rock star. Even when mistakes are made on both sides, often one partner is more forgiving than the other, or issues continue to surface that it seems even love can’t conquer.
Rocker romances are my absolute favourite trope by far, and you’d think that I’d come across every combination of book plot out there. Not so. Anna Brooks is my most recent author discovery and this is the first book of hers I have read. Her style of writing cuts through the romance into the very failure and foibles of human emotion. When do you say no more to un-forgiveness and the continual raising of issues that cannot be taken back or undone, and in spite of the love being a once in a life time, those past mistakes keep being bandied around as weapons that wound deeply? When do you say enough, and move on with the best life that you can, given the circumstances that life has handed to you?
My heart broke for both Jamie and Mercy. Ms. Brooks threw them so many curveballs, that I couldn’t see how they would survive. I needed to know whether their love was truly unconditional, or would it just be another victim to loving a rockstar, but whose life was always on the road.
Author Anna Brooks nailed it. I love Rockstar Romances, and I absolutely loved this one. Luckily, I already have the next one, Gabe’s book, in my hot little hands, cos that is my next read. 5 Stars 🎼🎶🎵
Being a first timer to Anna Brooks stories, I was not sure what to expect. I am not sure I could have started with a better first book than Justifying Jamie. Such a great experience and one heck of an adventure.
Jamie is a superstar not wanting to be noticed as the superstar he is. Strong and wild, he is free to enjoy life and appreciate the experiences learned. Yet he is as much alone as he is a family member...even if the family is nothing more than his bandmates and their families.
Mercy is that smart female with a heart of gold, even if she does have a wild streak. But while everyone admires and loves her, she battles demons many of her friends and coworkers know nothing of. As strong as she is to those around her, there is a crushing pain felt deep down inside that she battles.
A one night meeting many years before complete with heat and passion cannot be dulled by time. And, of course, life always gets in the way, when you allow time to carry on. But with heat like these two shared, even I was wrapped in their ups and downs and turmoil.
Anna Brooks mentioned that this is the first book in her series Reason to Ruin, but she also tells of the original story that introduces all the cast. So now I need to step back and catch up on all the band before the next story comes out, cause I definitely will be waiting in that line. Great job Anna and I happily give this story five stars.
I really enjoyed reading this book even though these two star-crossed lovers threatened to drive me crazy for a while. Communication is a nice thing. More people should try it. Just saying... But well, when feelings are hurt and so on, right? Back to the beginning though. I loved the chemistry between our hero and our heroine but I think it's not too harsh if I say that I really really hated Mercy's mother and the way she treated her daughter ... Jamie and Mercy though, well, the chemistry is there and apart from that it is a struggle, it is a fight, it is - everything. The good and the bad and everything in between. The moment Jamie and Mercy met, they know as much as the reader knows that there is more but the time it took them to get there, wow, I was tempted to throw my kindle over and over again because I couldn't believe that fate would be so cruel and those two so oblivious. When our hero and our heroine finally get their HEA, I was almost as relieved as the two of them. Well-written, captivating and at times frustrating - Justifying Jamie is the first book in the new series by Anna Brooks and I can't wait for the next books to find out more about these guys and the women they love!
OMG! Anna you’ve done it again. I love your stories so much, and you’re an amazing storyteller.
First things first, YOU NEED TO FIX L&M! FIX. THEM!
I really enjoyed Mercy and Jamie’s story, and all of the ups and downs that went with them.
Jamie didn’t have a whole family unit growing up, where as Mercy had it, but it wasn’t the perfect family.
They meet one night out and Mercy didn’t fall for his cheesy pickup lines, but they did fall into bed together. I love a great story in which there’s that instant connection, and it like this for these two from the beginning. I loved their banter back and forth!!
Just one thing after another happens as to why they haven’t connected with one another over 3 years. AND THEN IT HAPPENS!! Boy, was that an explosion waiting to happen, and not in the good way either.
Talk about a small world, and who they both know. WOW! I loved all the twists and turns, and how you didn’t know what was going to happen on the next page!
Charity, her sister isn’t putting up with any of Jamie’s shenanigans, and wants her to walk away from him.
Oh, I loved that they were in Kentucky! It’s where I’m from!
Can Mercy just walk away? Can she sign the papers in time before someone else comes into her life? Will Jamie get the truth as to what really happened that night?
My fave quote from the book: As long as I can call you mine, nothing else matters. - SWOON MOMENT! UGH Jamie! I can’t!
