A Tangled Web

Cassidy Kincaid, still reeling after the events of the previous two books, is called in by the FBI to be reprimanded for her actions, and to be recruited - under pressure - to help with the case. This is a thrilling story, and Cassidy is a gutsy heroine, especially given her mental health which causes panic attacks and sleepless nights. There is a point in this book where I wanted to scream aloud in horror and fear, the writer takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Brilliant.

This is the fourth book in the Cassidy Kincaid Mystery Series. Obviously this is a series and I had not read any of the previous books so it was a little confusing at first. The book is well written and the characters seem to be well developed. The book was enjoyable and made me regret what I missed by not having read the previous books. I read an arc copy and voluntarily chose to review it.

Another great Cassidy mystery that keeps you gripped and wondering what comes next. Cassidy has her hands full trying to solve the mystery. She definitely doesn’t need more problems. Loved it.

This is book four of the Cassidy Kincaid Mystery series and sees Cassidy continue on her journey for truth, whilst still working as a geologist, researching the dangers of volcanos about to blow. She recently discovered the truth about her fiancé Pete’s death and now knows it was no accident. She was getting a lot of attention due to events in Costa Rica and her part in it, now she hopes to remain under the radar of the dangerous men behind what she observed. Finding another reporter who Pete was discussing a story with, right before his death, lead to her being sucked back into danger. She has to accompany FBI agent and old friend Bruce, to be debriefed by his task force about those events. He ends up recruiting her to help in their investigation of a case that is connected to what she went through and found in Costa Rica.

It is also connected to her brother Quinn and the bar he owns. It seems someone has already approached him wanting to buy him out, or at least offer him better services in exchange for a favour, but really it’s for money laundering. The FBI are interested, as this links to their main case they have been chasing for months and since the guy that approached Quinn seems to have an interest in Cassidy, they have both been asked to try and lure him in, so the FBI can hopefully turn him. He works at the docks and is helping to orchestrate the bad guy’s movements of drugs and people out, without shipments being checked.

Izzy Ford’s father gave a strange aside, after her recent TV interview about her work on volcanoes, mentioning her long dead father and that he had worked with him. It isn’t until much later in the case, that this becomes important, as Cassidy must try to figure out what the link is with their father, a charity organisation helping provide medical services to homeless teens and human trafficking. As usual. Cassidy jumps in without thinking, when those she cares about most are threatened and struggles to find out the truth in time to save them. There are numerous links to events in the previous books, but the author has also given a brief summary at the beginning of this one to help. Cassidy may want to get back to her job and prepare for the new semester, but where her only remaining family is involved, she will do anything to help.

It takes a while to build up momentum, but once it does, this story is non-stop action as Cassidy gets stuck into helping Bruce and Quinn, as well as trying to stop the human trafficking crimes she saw for herself and which got her fiancé killed just over a year ago. Never trust anyone who seems to have too much money, or someone with too much power! The saying that power corrupts definitely comes true in this tale and gives a shocking twist to the end of the story. There are more bigwigs to be uncovered and this book leads right into the next, as the web of secrets seems to start to unravel. Cassidy is finally allowing herself to heal at the very end and realise not everything she does causes harm to others. Another great read in this series, but I would recommend reading the others first, as there is a lot of complex storylines to understand. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Rescuing Reeve, Cassidy Kincaid #1 - Interesting with plenty of surfing for those who hang ten. The rest of the story held my attention and it was easy to finish. Another pass at editing would benefit the reader. 4*

Finding Izzy Ford, #2 - Fast-paced, interesting and easy to get pulled into the story. The story picks up a few weeks after the end of Rescuing Reeve. Easy to finish in one sitting. 4*

Exposing Ethan, #3 - Picks up five days after the ending of Finding Izzy Ford. If you ever wondered how stupid this supposedly smart woman actually is, this is the story. Her self-interest disregards laws and common sense; she plans her work and related projects but freezes with emotions and brain freeze when she stomps into action against criminals. What an idiot but this trait, stupidity?, makes this an interesting and fast-paced read. This lack of planning reinforces how out of her element she is and her naivety (for which we can blame the author, LOL). The question about her father is left hanging and there is no doubt, after the last chapter, there is another book to read. 4*

Cassidy's Crusade, #4 - The final book of the series picks up hours after the end of Exposing Ethan. Cassidy acts smarter in this book. The fast-paced, Interesting story lines answer most questions left unanswered in EE. Easy to read in one sitting. 4*

Her Final Mistake, Meg Dawson #1 - Interesting with good: characters; good dialog; and storylines. I was pleasantly surprised. 4*

Her Final Goodbye, Meg Dawson #2 - Interesting with intense moments. Good characters and many storylines. While not necessary, I recommend reading the first book in this series for greater enjoyment. 4*

Her Final Truth, #3 - Another interesting, intriguing addition to the series, which starts a month after Her Final Goodbye ends. Hard to put down with interesting characters and well written blending of the old with the new story lines. While a good read on it's own, the books should be read sequentially since there is a foundation continually being constructed with each story. I like the fact that Meg does not have a battling, disrespectful relationship with the law and that she does stop to think about consequences. Of course, sometimes it is just a thought. 5*

Cassidy remains as strong-willed as eve in this book causing huge problems for almost everyone who comes in contact with her. She is on a mission to find out if someone killed her fiance' and if so who.
Partnering with the FBI could provide resources she'd never have on her own. It could also slow down the process because they have other priorities. She's impatient and doesn't want to wait on them.
Then things get turned upside down when the FBI comes up with a different project they want to bring to a conclusion first. The primary benefits she gains from that is spending time with her brother Quinn in San Francisco. The FBI guy Bruce who has appeared in two other books with her manages to capture her attention and her heart as the book progresses.
Being in San Francisco is cool. I loved the surfing and walks along the shore. Buying a new truck and driving it to Seattle was a cool trip. It brought back memories of having done that a few years ago. I was all set to enjoy Washington when another horrific incident whisks us away to the final book in the series.
Oh, yeah, there are a few dead bodies littered along the way...I think there may have been about five, but who is counting.

*** NO SPOILERS ***

The Cassidy Kincaid series by Amy Waeschle has been a GREAT find for me. I read a lot of books, so it really takes something to get hooked into an author and their writing to follow them and stick through series by them. Full disclosure - with her series like every other series I'm one of those who HATE WAITING for the next installment.

In this one, number four of five, the twists and turns from the lead up continue. Though a great read on its own you'd really suffer (in my opinion) by not having all of the background leading up to this point. Cassidy continues to develop more intricacies and more deeply with each book - flaws and all - which in addition to the well woven mystery plot makes this just a great series. I highly recommend this book to you but again, do yourself a favor and read the others first. Not only is the background they provide exceptionally helpful for this read, but they are all just darned good reads themselves.

The fiancé of Cassidy Kincaid had been killed in a motorcycle accident but it wasn't an accident. Cassidy is determined to find the perpetrators so that she can move on. This story follows Cassidy's search for answers, she is bribed to work undercover for the FBI putting her own life and that of her beloved brother Quinn in grave danger. I don't want to go into too much detail but the story contains murder, police corruption, human trafficking, usually children who were forced into prostitution. FBI agent Bruce Keokoani had her back and the chemistry between them sizzles. This book is part of a series and although the author gives a short synopsis of the previous books I am sure that the reader would get much more enjoyment reading them in sequence. Amy Waeschle has written a book full of atmosphere, suspense and intrigue and I can't wait for the next one.

This fourth book in The Cassidy Kincaid Mystery Series by Amy Waeschle was a gripping story of suspense and danger that provided the reader with many minutes of entertainment touched with adventure and a little romance. This book is left with a great cliffhanging ending that will hopefully be resolved in the fifth and final book in this series. And yes the author's note is accurate, these books are definitely better to read in order, which I intend to add to my TBR file soon. With that said, the author did include a brief synopsis of each book to help the reader understand where Cassidy's feelings and actions were driven from which allowed the reader to understand the story's pace and flow. This a very well written suspense with intensity, suspense, intrigue and so many surprises and twists. Definitely a book that keeps you glued to the pages and on the edge of your seat. The characters were well written and well developed and defined, and easily relatable.

This was the first book in the series I read so I was a bit lost and I would recommend reading the prior books first. This book does end on a cliffhanger.

Ms. Waeschle has written a heart pounding, breath taking novel of love, devotion and family ties that are unbreakable and unconditonal. The characters of Cassidy, Quinn and Bruce are wonderfully woven into a story that is impossible to ut down. This is an adventure filled with excitement and thrills.
Descriptions so deep and powerful it is easy to put yourself right in the middle of each scene. It is exhausting. Very Highly Recommended.
This is and ARC book. My review is freely and honestly given.

This is an awesome series!

Things I liked about the book:
1) It is an action-packed page-turner.
2) The deep bond between siblings.
3) Cassidy’s intensity.
4) A well-told story that holds your interest from page one to the end.
5) Well-written and edited.

Things I didn’t like about the book (reasons I subtract stars):
1) Language (Too frequent dropping of the “F” Bomb and GD).
2) Unrealistic situations (Cassidy allowed to roam free in an FBI building).
3) Ends on a cliffhanger.

A Kindle Unlimited Read.

I love the hero in this series - a geologist moving from her post doc to a permanent position. Unfortunately there was very little geology in this book in the series. I also felt it was necessary to have read the previous book in the series to be able to understand the plot, and it also ended at a cliff hanger requiring follow through to the next book. The next book, however, pulls everything together and it was then that I was glad I finished this series. Recommend the series!

Extreme danger for Cassidy continues in this 4th book, as the FBI tries to unravel the mysteries of who is behind selling young women and children for profit. The case becomes more complicated and intense, and with each revelation the suspense increases. I can't wait for the next book!

Amy has done it again! You just can't stop reading. The book deals with some really seedy subjects, but told from a thrilling perspective. I recommend you read the series from book one although the lead in will bring you up to speed and make following the story easier. Can't wait for the next installment!

I love these books but am really sad that its another cliff hanger. I can't wait for the next one! Cassidy is not only street smart (for the most part) but she is highly intelligent in other ways. She does let it get her in trouble because she thinks she knows better than others but the author always makes it where others are thrown in to help her. I like this series.

A good book once I figured out the characters since I didn't read the first 3. A definite thrilling book and a twisty one at that. I can't wait to the last book when the case is solved and everything is finalized.
