The play (from the previous book in the series) has ended and the cast and crew, with Kate’s help, are at the theater to strike the set and party. But as everyone is leaving, gunshots ring out leaving Vicente Domingo, author of the play, and Kate’s rival in the PI business very seriously injured.
Vicente’s cousin, the lawyer Barramendi, hires Kate, at the insistence of her boss and mentor, Albert Galigani, to find out whodunnit.
At first, Kate thinks it might be something related to one of Vicente’s cases. But then again, might it be someone from his past? Suppose the incident that was the theme of his play was based on something real.
Almost as disturbing, Kate has decided to let her husband, Jim, select the theme for the nursery they are planning for the twins she is expecting. Jim, who is working freelance to advertise an upcoming movie, says he is thinking about something either movie or carnival-related. So Kate’s mom picks up on the idea and runs with the concept of … a haunted carnival horror movie. She showers Kate with a seemingly endless stream of evil clown dolls. Kate spends almost as much time trying to get rid of the evil clowns as she does solving the attempted murder case.

Why did the author copy and paste what Kate said at the after party to now saying it on another day? Their whole conversation was exactly the same......
I'm on Book 7 and it's been obvious since Book 1 that the author really doesn't know much about babies. Or being pregnant. In the last Book she kept talking about changing cat litter which is extremely toxic while pregnant. It's also obvious that she doesn't understand being poor. They have constantly said that they need two incomes to survive (that was with only one baby on the way) and they live in a small 2 bedroom home because SF is crazy expensive. Yet almost every night they eat take out and eat lunches at cafes. Not to mention the main character went Christmas shopping at Macy's. She also bought new gowns for events. Last book she didn't think they could save enough money in 18 years for college lol

A great way to unwind and relax
I have read almost all of this writer's books and am never disappointed. The characters are very easy to get to know and love. Whatever you are in the mood for you will find in the different series. These books always puts me in a good lighthearted mood. Stress is much easier to handle when I'm reading Diana Orgain's books. You will not be disappointed!

A fun read
Nothing heavy --- characters you like to like --- and unlike an Agatha Christie book you will guess who done it. If only somebody had proofread it before going to print! So many errors.

Another good one!
Love these mysteries! Love the relationships between the characters in these stories! Love the can't put it down feeling I get when I start one and can't bare to stop reading till I reach the end!
