In the time of gods and goddesses…
Psyche is a poor shepherd girl with the otherworldly beauty of a goddess. Often compared to Aphrodite, she hides herself away from her would-be suitors as she harbors a terrible secret.

Aphrodite has heard the name Psyche intertwined with her own as mortals sing the girl’s praises, but one night her pride is finally wounded too far for the goddess to ignore any longer. She will have her revenge on the mortal girl to prove who is fairest once and for all.

Eros, the charming God of Love and Desire, is tasked by Aphrodite to carry out her cruel revenge. He is accustomed to taking lovers lightly and carelessly, and has yet to find a woman who can match his appetites. But when the young god meets Psyche, he cannot bring himself to punish such a clever, lovely enchantress.

So begins the courtship of Eros and Psyche—a courtship shrouded in mystery and secrecy, for if Aphrodite ever discovered the two lovers, her wrath would be fearsome to behold. Can their love withstand the trials of mortality, betrayal, and their very natures?

The mythical inspiration for “Beauty and the Beast”, this tale is for readers who prefer explicit entertainment from beginning to end, with a love story worthy of legend.

An Amazing Read

It has been a while since I read something that immediately captivated me. Since having my daughter, I haven’t had the luxury to write a review, but today, I was able to make an exception.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I adore the story of Eros and Psyche. I’ve probably read the Greek myth in a thousand and one ways and never tire of it. I thought Jidenna Tryst blew my mind, but it seems this new author blew me out of the waters.

I love her poetic writing style. Her prose is vivid, sensual, and the scenes were certainly scorching. I love how Psyche was physically flawed and yet Eros still loved her beyond it. I loved how it wasn’t predictable or expected, but how the author added her own twists in which love does really conquer all.

The hero and heroine have an amazing chemistry. Immediately you are drawn to the both of them and through each story you crave more and more. I love how poetic Eros is and that Psyche catches him in his BS. I also love that she isn’t as naive as she’s typically portrayed in the myths, but just subtle, meek, and insecure due to her own flawed features. She’s also self aware and I like how rounded both characters became.

It’s something I can see myself reading again and again. I want more!

Gostei bastante deste livro. Como seria de esperar, transborda em sensualidade, mas o que gostei realmente foi a escrita espirituosa nos diálogos e situações, que a autora utilizou para caracterizar as personagens. Encontrei-me várias vezes a sorrir e a rir enquanto lia 😅

A história não segue a 100% o mito original, mas as alterações foram super bem conseguidas, tornando a história um pouco mais verosímil!

It takes a wild turn from the original myth, specially when arrow reveals himself as early as the second day there’s together. Then the book gets very boring while describing the god of sex as almost a father figure for Psyche, teaching banal things like how to read and swim and spending days like two friends. Also I don’t like how, unlike the original myth, the focus is on the “mystery” of what Psyche hides instead of the identity of the man who’s with her, and that should not reveal his face. Some chapters are very boring with long and unnecessary description of irrelevant facts. This talking rabbit is also annoying. It was hard to finish it and I was expecting more from the author.

This was a nice retelling of the story of Eros and Psyche. My low review stems from all the times a comma was used in place of a period and vice versa.

This was such a beautifully written story. What I have enjoyed so much with this series is the poetic language the author chooses. These retellings of Greek myths feel like the myths themselves!
