I read this book in one day. Two days before my AP Computer Science A exam, I took a practice test and scored a 21/40. I realized I was severely underprepared for the exam. The next day (the day before the exam), I went to a cafe at 10 AM and left only at 6 PM. While I was there, I read through this entire book, from the front cover to the back. The book was even better than I expected. Concepts that were initially very difficult for me to wrap my head around, such as inheritance, polymorphism, downcasting, and upcasting, finally made sense. This is because of the book's extensive use of example code. Seeing the concepts actually implemented helped me understand what they really mean. I believe everyone who is taking AP Computer Science A should read this book.

Updated version is tied into the 2019 CED revisions. This is helps immensely with not only what is included in the subset for testing, but also for what has been pulled out.
