Book 1- Shadows of Lela
The first time I read this book I was lost at the beginning and struggled getting into it. The second time I was clearer on what was happening and the layout of how Tessonja writes. What helped me stay clear was the labeling of the characters when the story switched characters. I think this is just because of how I read, any spare two minutes I can get in a busy schedule. My favorite thing about the whole book was the circles they were running around each other. It was hilarious.

Book 2- Veil of Mist
The second book was easier for me to read, both times, and held my interest steadily throughout and was overall a nice read. Are there any spectacular moments that stand out to me? Not specifically. The relationships between characters and especially couples’ dedication to each other is honestly my favorite thing. If I had to choose a favorite scene, I think I would have to choose the struggle Mareleau had over the tea. It was honest, human, and relatable.

Book 3- Shades of Prophecy
It was a lovely, bittersweet ending to the series. I love the empath and narcuss powers. I love the positivity Odette infused in all of it. And I felt like I was on the edge of my seat for at least 2/3 of it.

The addition of the photos at the beginning of each book was a really neat effect. It helped set the tone and reminded me of some older fantasy covers. They’re beautiful.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This trilogy was huge! Meaning that it was jam packed full of happenings. There was danger, daring, surprises, plot twists, sorrow and happiness! This is centered around protecting the land of Lela. Two couples must put the pieces of the prophecy together to save their kingdoms. This is absolutely unputdownable and addictive!!

I'm not sure how to start this, as I almost never write reviews, but here goes nothing.

Lela is a land ruled by three kingdoms, Sele, Mena, and finally, Kero, where we are immediately introduced to our main character. Princess Coralaine of Kero, simply known as Cora, has been framed for the murder of Queen Linette, her brother's wife, by a sorcerer named Morkai, who she's convinced murdered her parents, and was forced into exile.

Six years later we meet a 16-year-old Cora, who was adopted and raised by the Forest People. We learned in the beginning that Cora has Magic, which she referred to as "her curse". Luckily, the Forest People practice in what they call "The Arts", and were able to help Cora hone her abilities. Things go awry when she and a few friends decide to entertain a group of hunters in the woods, and Cora finds out they've been imprisoning unicorns with the purpose of taking their horns, and worst of all, Morkai is the one responsible for all this.

Meanwhile, Princess Mareleau of Sele has arranged a poetry contest in order to decide on a suitor to marry, the three finalists must find three unicorns for her, and take one pelt, one horn, and one alive as a pet to prove their love dedication to her. This is where we meet Teryn, the Crown Prince of Mena, and Larylis, his twin brother. Larylis is in love with Mareleau, but can't be with her because she was promised to Teryn.

That's the beginning of the first book, Shadows of Lela, and honestly, I found this trilogy really enjoyable. The world building was well done, the characters have motives, and actions have consequences. I find that, as a fantasy fan, it's very difficult to find a high fantasy book/series that is original, makes any kind of sense, and has at least SOME thought put into it, and the Lela Trilogy checks all those boxes!

But, I still have a silly little complaint. In the first book, there were lines throughout that felt a bit awkward, or moments when we were told, rather than shown, something. These issues, however, seemingly disappeared when I started the second book, so I commend Odette for growing and improving to the point where even a picky reader (like myself) can't find any noteworthy flaws!

Exceptionally Well-Written Epic Fantasy

Fantasy is not my usual preferred sub-genre—though I do love reading it on occasion and finding new authors and series to enjoy—but I so loved another book by this author that I wanted to check this one out. I am so glad I did. The book pulls you in right away in a dramatic scene featuring our heroine as a young princess of ten literally feeling sympathetic pains as her sister-in-law (the queen) gives birth. But things go downhill fast and then go from bad to worse. Young Cora is banished by her elder brother the king—and an evil mage is quite delighted. I love that the author did not start this book with the dreaded information dump and just threw us into the action. Yet, it was still understandable and not confusing whatsoever. We meet other key players very quickly and soon see what the young girl's life has turned into 6 years after her banishment. What I like about this series is that the major characters had strong character arcs, actually growing over the course of the series; they are not the people at the end as they were at the beginning. While this book had a ton of action, like most fantasy books, character did not suffer because of the never-ending flow of dramatic events, which unfortunately happens quite often in fantasy. A lot is going on in the multi-faceted fight of good against evil, enough to keep me riveted to my seat and turning those pages. A fantastic epic fantasy, highly recommended.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

This book started like a roller coaster ride, slowly and picking up steam that takes you on a thrilling ride. The ups and downs, twists and turns keeps you riveted. The characters draw you in and the magical elements and Unicorns leave you awed. This is a good versus evil and the power of determination and love. I loved this book.
Cora and her brother Dimetreus return to Kero as the Princess and King for the first time in years. Things didn’t happen the way they planned. They are under the thumb of King Verdian. Nothing is going right and Cora is trying to cleanse the tower where Morkai lived. Teryn defies King Verdain and travels to be with Cora. Then the real trouble begins.
Cora has to try and save everything and everyone she holds dear as once again she is faced with a evil threatening to take it all.
This book was fascinating and full of amazing characters and twists and turns.
A great book full of fantasy galore.
This book and series was a whirlwind of drama, action, romance with a Prophecy coming closer to fulfillment.
Cora, Theryn, Mareleau, and Larylis are battling a new danger as they figured out that Darius is Morkai’s father and worse than Morkai ever was.
When Dragons appear everything is a sign the tear in the veil is worsening that sets Cora and Mareleau on a journey to find Ailan.
The twists and turns get wilder and time is running out. This book kept me in suspense and craving more.
This is the last book of the trilogy and had me on the edge of my seat. Great book, great series and a amazing conclusion,

This was an excellently executed epic fantasy. The world building was fantastic. The characters felt real. There was a lot of emotion poured into this story. I quickly read through books 1 and 2. At the beginning of book 3, I faltered. Not because of pacing or plot problems. I identified too well with a main character. At the beginning of book three, she is made to really face what her infertility means. I struggled with infertility myself and found myself reliving many of those same feelings. This aspect of her character was written so well, I wouldn't be surprised to learn the author has had some experience with infertility herself.

Overall, it was a very engrossing read as I was able to complete it in three days. The pacing is perfect. There is a great balance between action and romance. I appreciate the romance aspect remaining clean while still being passionate. This is a story I would feel good recommending to someone as young as a preteen (I know I would have loved it at that age) while still being engrossing for an adult. Thank you, Tessonja Odette for sharing your talent.

A good exercise with some problems

The books were constructed well. The plot unfolded at a reasonable pace. The magic system was simple, but consisten enough. Unfortunately, it also made the character seem more limited as how your magic works relates to your character. Also having the characters overcome their flaws added a moral dimension to the story that reminded me more of Megan Cellier than Sarah Maas or Leigh Bardugo.
I actually believe the author should have rolled with that and nixed anything explicit because she was better at writing about that sweet, sincere moral development than she was at writing sexual tension.

I only found a few grammatical or typographical errors in all three books that did not interfere with meaning. The book would have worked best as a High Fantasy, younger, YA Romance, but it tried to be Dark Fantasy with a very small number of uninspired sexual scenes. Still, a good exercise. At a price of 99 cents for three books, I give it five stars.

Copy received from the author and I am reviewing it voluntarily and objectively.

After reading book one of the Fair Isle trilogy, I just had to follow this author more closely. When offered this trilogy, of course I jumped on it. After finishing this trilogy, I see that the author has improved in her writing since this trilogy. While I give the series a solid 3.5 stars, I was not exactly hooked right in with any of it.

Book 1 did awesome character set-up, as well as introduce the plot of the ongoing royal struggles they all face. It brings in creatures such as unicorns. Book 2 was the best. It had the romance plot within it, as well as the inclusion of a sneaky plot. Book 3 I found myself bored with.

Beautiful artwork for the trilogy, but it is not something I plan on rereading.

I ACTUALLY WASN'T SURE THAT I WOULD LIKE THIS BOOK BUT THIS TRILOGY IS BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS. AND THE SECOND BOOK WAS JUST AS AWESOME AS THE FIRST ONE.THE CHARACTERS GREW SO MUCH THROUGHOUT THE TRILOGY.
THE THIRD BOOK WAS SO GOOD. THE WAY THE END WAS WRITTEN WAS AMAZING.
OVERALL THIS TRILOGY HAD EVERYTHING YOU CAN FOR IN A FANTASY NOVEL.

This Trilogy revolves around a prophecy, magic, and betrayal as the main characters attempt to save the land of Lela which is being threatened by evil. Three full-length novels are included in this collection. The titles are: Shadows of Lela, Veil of Mist, and Shades of Prophecy.

Grab this exciting trilogy as it never stops moving from adventure to adventure. The main characters are strong and dedicated. But the evil is likewise strong. Will Princess Cora’s magic be strong enough to protect the kingdom and save those she and Prince Teryn love?

I loved these books. The stories and ere great. Plenty of magic, mystical creatures, wizards & witches. Also-ran a lot of compassion & friendship.

Valor's friendship with Cora is truly amazing. His fierce loyalty to her is a blessing.

I am especially proud of Merileau. She didn't know she had powers. The way she went from a spoiled brat to a mother that would do anything possible to protect her child. Melileau nurtured her power and saved it until the time was right.

Great trilogy and Tessonja Odette is now one of my favorite authors.

The storyline’s plot combines drama, action, suspense, twists and turns with magic, and makes an exciting tale. Each book’s storyline picks up from the previous providing a smooth flow and a fast pace to an unbelievable ending that is a total surprise. I highly recommend this series.

I really enjoyed this series. Because all of the books were together, I was able to have a better experience with the characters, their troubles, and triumphs. This is a fantasy story based in a middle-Earth-esk setting. The characters of three kingdoms and their neighbor, a group of people who follow the ancient ways, and beings from another world fight against evil, selfish forces.
