Welcome to what’s left of Merry Lynch’s life.

As a professional revenge specialist—don’t call her an assassin— forty-four-year-old Merry Lynch spends more time flitting around the world than stagnating on the couch with her husband, Derek.

That’s about to change. In the space of a single horrendous day, Merry’s boss kicks her out to pasture, her husband ditches her for a barely legal floozy, and she decides to end it all. (But she doesn’t have cancer, no matter what her doctor says, so at least she’s got that going for her.)

Determined to hurl herself into an early grave, Merry flies home to Greece for one last hurrah. But Greece has other plans for Merry, and before long she enthusiastically decides to give living one more shot.

Too bad she no longer has any say in the matter.

I read this for the 2021 Popsugar Challenge prompt "a book that has fewer than 1000 reviews on Amazon or Goodreads". It was originally written to be a stand alone, but the author has recently announced that she is working on a sequel. Like all books by this author, it is full of humor and Greek culture with a nice bit of sweet love. A fast and easy read.

Fun read!

Loved the quirky Greek characters! It was funny how the gossip got twisted so much. I also enjoyed the bits and characters from the Greek mafia series popping into this book. But you don’t have to read that series to enjoy this book. But you SHOULD read the Greek mafia series because they are super too!

Laugh out loud funny!

Wonderful story with the backdrop of beautiful Greece.
The saying in Greek is “laugh, laugh, cry, cry”...that about sums it up.

Best book yet

I wasn't sure what to expect with a standalone, but this book was fabulous!!! The humor is great and the twists were very clever, I think my Amazon kindle unlimited subscription paid for itself just with this author!

More Greece!

Another terrific visit to Greece with Alex A. King. Reading these books are like traveling with a friend, laughing and enjoying the sights. Can never get enough of the descriptive terms she uses, I laugh myself silly over them and it feels so good!
There are a few dropped words here and there but I don’t care, this was another delight from Ms. King!

Don’t mess with Merry.

Read this on KU, but may have to buy a copy. This was a great story with a couple of unique characters. Love the Greek setting (the author has a knack with creating an atmosphere) and all those old Greek biddies that love to trade in such outlandish gossip. Merry wasn’t your usual protagonist, but I became absorbed with her arc. Aris wasn’t as much of an active player, although his role in the story is well defined (think more of a Kat Makris Xander type character), and as for her deceitful, cheating, lying, t¥rd of a husband... well, let just say that the payback was epic 😉

Great fun read

I love Alex A King books and this one also kept me laughing the entire time. This book really nailed mid life. Merry is ready to cash it in as her entire life crumbles but as she sets her mind to ending it in Greece, Greece throws her a few curve balls. Personally I wish if I took an Ambien I’d buy a Greek boat and strip on a table and find my Aris. I love the surprise guest appearances too. I recommend you find some Frappe and read the book!!

This was a good read from one of my favorite authors. I liked that it was standalone. Merry is a fun main character, Aris is a hunk, and Merry's grandparents are great. We see some characters from Kat's series (Greek mafia; they're awesome!) which was lovely. I'm glad Merry got her happy ending. Also, the curse ruled!

In what may be her best novel yet, Alex A. King whisks us off on another adventure in Greece. This time she uses heartache, hysteria, and health to entice us to fall hopelessly in love with her characters. A twist on career choices, and a hot, seductive, GOOD man complete this romp in the Grecian geography. Loved it!

If you've read any of Alex A King's books set in Greece, you have some idea of what to expect. If not, read her for the humor, the culture, and the romance. This is a fun read. And it's definitely worth reading. This would also make a great beach read. If you enjoy romance with humor and a touch of mystery, check this one out.

Fun

Good story. Set in Agria with many of the characters from other books. To me the plot is a mixture of Women of Greece series and Kat Makris.

My offer to Alex to proofreed for free in exchange for her books before publishing stands ❤️

After the wonderful Women of Greece series this seemed very superficial and silly.

Funny, entertaining read. However, the plot is minimal and practically non-existent until the last 100 pages or so. So quick but not a very engaging read.
