The Barrier is failing, Vampires are hunting innocent Aura, and the Ruling Council is in shambles. It is now up to the High Magistrate, Disrayan Centaurus, to diffuse the tension that threatens to implode everything the Aura ever stood for. However, the solution to her problems is also the man she swore never to trust again.
Maclovis Andromeda has been working undercover with vampires for years, forced to leave behind everything and everyone he held dear. Mack wants nothing more than to show Disrayan that he is still the man she fell for, but until his assignment is complete, he can't risk being outed, even if that means losing Disrayan all over again.
The personal and the professional collide in this epic tale of myth, politics, and legendary love.

✍️Dauntless is a Secret of Ceres book 2 This is in continuation with the part 1 of the series.

✍️If you have read the first part of this Series, you will easily connect with second part. It was really a fascinating read with a very intriguing details of the Vampire world.
I think the author has a lot of good concepts here, but they aren't fully fleshed out. First, we were focusing on too many characters. I think the idea was to have the focus be on Disrayan and Mack, but there were too many other perspectives and plotlines thrown in. I felt like I was still being introduced to new characters throughout.
The world has a lot of promise, but it needed some work - it took me quite a while to figure out the entire idea behind how Ceres intersected with the human realm. It needs some focus.
I think the characters' motivation wasn't strong enough - I never got to know them enough to really feel any strong emotions toward them. I think if we had stayed mostly with either Disrayan or Mack, I would have felt more about the story's resolution and conclusion.
This read more like a second draft than a final copy. If the author had been able to make some tweaks to the story and focus it more, it could be a fantastic world for many stories to come!
Vampires are hunting innocent Aura. With the Ruling Council falling apart, I wondered what would become of the barrier, will it hold? Council members lose their trust in each other, wanting not the same thing anymore.
Being on the hunt is not much fun, especially if you do not know where you are. Who to trust, who not... Getting were you need to be isn't as easy as it looks, even with the help of 'friends'.
