WORKPLACE FLIRTATION CREATES UNIMAGINABLE CONSEQUENCES. (Complex legal thriller inspired by real events).
A senior executive in an apparent storybook marriage flirts with a female executive in the same company.
After a number of romantic dinners, after-hour phone calls, and gifts willingly accepted, two very different realities unfold. The man believes he is well on the way to a consensual affair. The woman, under financial pressure from her needy daughter and ex-husband, a man with a drug dependency, envisions a large insurance payoff to silence her formal sexual harassment suit.
Soon, the harassment claim turns into a "she said-he said" survival of the fittest which the reader witnesses up-close and personal, through the words of the protagonist. In the end, there are surprising consequences for both the accuser and the accused, and unimaginable collateral damage to all the unwillingly participants drawn into the tawdry affair.
M. G. Crisci Stories that entertain. People you’ll remember. Literature that matters.
Manhattan-born M.G. Crisci is the critically-acclaimed author of 16 books inspired by real events, a former Fortune 500 senior executive, an internationally-recognized brand-building expert, a thought-provoking East-West social commentator, and an award-winning journalist.
M.G. has been elected to Who’s Who in the World 23 times for his business, literary, and cultural contributions, and received several lifetime achievement awards.
M.G. Crisci knows how to write and tell a great story. Indiscretion is about sexual harassment charges against a successful business man and the fall out from his decision to get close to a co-worker.
The author developed strong characters. The story was mainly told through the eyes of Martin Ruff, an investment banker who strikes up a friendship with one of his co-workers, Alexandria Plummet. All of the characters in this book were well written and convincing. We are able to see how the fall out from Martin’s decision to have a friendship with Alexandria affected not only his relationship with his wife of 35 years, but also his sons. We see the greed of his partners, who also have their own secrets, as law suits are threatened and filed. Page after page filled with damaged people from one tiny decision to have a working dinner with a co-worker.
I enjoyed the authors style of writing. The book moved along at a fast clip for the most part. The last 1/4 of the book was a bit “soap opera” for me, tho I did appreciate the author wrapping up all the characters and their stories. The author let the descriptive information about investment banking and how it works take over too much of the story. I didn’t understand too much of it even after reading pages of details about the finance world. For me, that’s the difference between this book being a 3 or 4 star read.
In conclusion, if you like an author that can tell a great story, you will like this book. Be prepared for the technical side of the finance world; but don’t let it deter you from giving this book a chance. Good writing always trumps a few wordy pages.
Thank you to HiddenGemsBooks, M.G. Crisci, and Orca Publishing Company for the chance to review this ⭐️⭐️⭐️ book.
Indiscretion reveals the reasoning behind one act and its consequences when someone is lying or not being completly transparent with a partner - either work partner or spouse. One character performs an action (with a hidden agenda) and at the receiving end of it there is another character who performs another action (with another hidden agenda), after many lies or quasi lies or untold facts the plot deepens and all characters are involved in a personal war where everyone wants to surpass the other and have the upper arm. Through this war lives are shattered, relationships broken, money is made and lost and recovered and corporate life resumes its normal tune, personal lives however will never be the same. Indiscretion is a book that depicts corporate life and sometimes its twisted view that money is above all and explains all which in my humble view (and beliefs) is not true. It gives each character's own view regarding the same action and consequences and how the lack of true communication and deceit leads to all sorts of troubles. It's good entertainment and its characters are relatable as they can see in our daily lives. I received a free copy of this book from the author/Hidden Gems Books in exchange for an honest review.
Indiscretion is an intriguing story narrated by the main character Martin Ruff, an intelligent and savvy investment banker. This book shows how someone’s decisions and actions not only have repercussions in their personal lives but also in every life that surrounds them. M.G Crisci does a fabulous job explaining the life of a businessman and how their companies build themselves financially. Throughout the 81 chapters of this book, you’ll find yourself captured by the characters; and each one has a story of their own and we can see how power, money, sex and even vulnerability can make people take abrupt decisions or make choices that are life changing. This is a very realistic and down to earth book with relatable situations that could happen to anyone. It is an easy paced read but you need to pay close attention to not get lost within the other characters as they cross each other constantly. I very much enjoyed this book very much and learned a thing or two about finance in important companies!
What a ride! "Indiscretion" is a stunning story written by M.G. Crisci. This novel is full of twists and turns that make you stay at the edge of your seat the whole time! Part drama and part romance, this novel has all the spicy ingredients that I prefer at the moment of choosing a book.
The book is about a senior executive, who is married but meets a girl at work and starts a relationship with her. As soon as they begin the affair, he realizes that nothing is like it seems. In fact, one of the best things about the book is how the author describes the characters and lets you know them.
This piece of writing is divided into eighty-three parts. Each chapter is more exciting than the last one, so it is impossible for me to choose my favourite. The dialogues are very realistic and this makes it easy to be inside the story.
All in all, this novel would make a really good film, because it is such an exciting story that would perfectly fit the screen. It is a highly entertaining read. I truly recommend it. Don’t miss it!
The Manhattan author M.G. Crisci is the talented and broad-minded man behind the book Indiscretion which was inspired by real events. To be perfectly honest, it is an unexpectedly good piece of work that will captivate and enthral you with each and every turn of the page. The characters, Martin and Alexandria, are impeccably written, easy to follow, and well-versed, and the storyline itself is undoubtedly something that you have never read before. It is a love story yes, but not so sappy; nothing is what it seems in this public game. This one is loaded with plot twists, turns, mystery, and intrigue and will have you guessing right up until the very, very unexpected ending! Believe me, the story is so interesting than it kept me on the edge of my seat. The novel is 296 pages long. The plot slowly develops throughout its chapters in which the author includes every day but at the same time colourful language, and vivid details. Take my advice and give this book a try. It will fulfil all your expectations!
A spectacular fiction mixed with real-life events Indiscretion was written by M. G. Crisci. This is the second book I read from the author, and I must tell he never stops surprising me. Perhaps it’s the way he passionately describes the settings and characters, or the way he enters my mind that completely captures my attention. This time Crisci brings to us a story about a romantic relationship at the workplace and its serious consequences. As with his other books, the writer includes everyday vocabulary which is easy to follow. Although some events in this book are based on a true story, the development of the plot is quite astonishing and unexpected, and the end is mind-blowing. This book can be read in about a week, since it contains around 300 pages. I believe young - and not so young- adults could enjoy this wonderful story, since it is exciting and compelling from the very beginning.
“Indiscretion. A globe-spanning tale about sexual harassment”, written by M.G. Crisci, is a thriller inspired by real events, as many of the books of this critically-acclaimed author. In this one, he develops how a romantic affair between co-workers can create a personal war with unimaginable consequences throughout North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Cuba.
This is a story of suspense in a complex finance and legal world that has as its main character, a married senior executive called Martin Ruff, and Alexandria Plummet, a co-worker who is under financial pressure. What begins as a hidden romance between them ends up being a power struggle where nobody wins.
The plot of the story is very good and there are certain twists and turns that make the tale even more interesting and difficult to put down. It is paced perfectly and its strong characters are well-developed. The author did a great job coming up with a masterfully written book.
An unputdownable book From the start, the novel´s title caught my attention, so I decided to read it. “Indiscretion” was written by M.G. Crisci who, again, has put into words an engaging and twisted passionate story. I really loved the author´s writing style. The plot revolves around a married senior executive who starts flirting with a woman from his work. Day after day, their relationship begins to flourish after secret rendezvous. Each of them has different hidden unspoken desires. How far will they go? As I mentioned before, the author´s writing style is very attractive. The characters are so complex and dynamic that I felt inside their passionate story. Quite frankly, I think that the story is mesmerizing! There are so many turns and twists that make the reading much more exhilarating. I was glued to the pages until the end. The same happened to me regarding other books from him. In a nutshell, I thoroughly recommend it for lovers of this genre.
What a cool contemporary story! Martin Ruff is the main character in this tale and he narrates the sequences of events in the first person in a simple, easy-to-follow language and with dialogues mingled in the pages. The plot revolves around a senior executive in an apparent good marriage but who flirts with a female executive in the same company and all the problems this may bring about. I believe the theme of the book is one that would interest any type of adult reader since it is about something that may happen to any of us. Taking a bad decision like this one may definitely have negative effects. The fact that readers would want to know how the story of Martin'S flirtiation unfolds, would keep readers glued to the 83 parts this book is divided into. Apart from Martin, M. G. Crisci was able to craft strong characters and a tale which has been penned in a unique and original style. Don’t miss it!
Martin Ruff is the main character of Indiscretion, a book that much to my surprise has the right amount of business and finances technicalities, and a lot of real drama.
First and foremost, I enjoyed how the author managed to write a relatable plot surrounding Ruff's two worlds, his work place and his family, and how it all collapses. It’s a very enthralling story, M.G. Crisci portraited quite accurately what goes in being a business person, and how the hunger for power and money brings confusion and susceptibility to the table. The main character makes a poor decision regarding him, his family and one co-worker, and just like that everything changes.
To sum up, I think this is a great novel with a great pace keeping all of us very intrigued of how things will resolve. I also like all the information the author provides about the characters, making them more real. I’d recommend this book.
M.G. Crisci is an incredibly versatile author. I have read different books written by him and I cannot choose one. They are all excellent and this one is no exception. “Indiscretion” is a thriller inspired by real events. The story presents Martin Ruff, a clever investment banker, who gets involved with a co-worker. From this decision a series of events unfold that will affect his family and everyone around him. We get to see how lies and the appreciation of money over all transform each and every character in the book and bring all kinds of problems. The writer has done a great job getting us into the world of business and deceit. The descriptions are extremely detailed and the characters are realistic and convincing. This book’s fascinating plot is guaranteed to keep the reader absorbed from beginning to end. Don’t miss your chance to read this great work.
M.G. Crisci has become one of my favorite writers; when it comes to choosing a new book to read, I find that Crisci always has titles that appeal to me. He covers various topics and styles, he is a very eclectic and an experienced author. The plot of the book "Indiscretion" reflects the miseries of the human being. The story centers on Martin Ruff, a senior executive who has an affair with a co-worker, Alexandria Plummet. He believes that it will be only a temporary romance, but she has other hidden intentions. The two engage in an intricate game, where neither of them is going to emerge victorious. "Life is full of unpleasant surprises", this is how chapter three begins and I think it sums up the essence of the book. I admit being fascinated by practically everything that surrounds this novel. The characters, the plot and the setting are all brilliantly written and described. The author's way of narrating is so agile and visual that it seems that we are contemplating the scene behind a glass. He makes the reader feel disturbed and at the same time fascinated by contemplating the misfortunes of others. From my point of view, the best thing about the novel is its originality. M.G. Crisci has known how to create something new and which did not easily fall into repetitive formulas. Sometimes taking risks has its advantages. The result is a fresh, entertaining and highly addictive novel. It is a reading that you cannot miss, I recommend it 100 percent.
The main storyline of this book was interesting. The problem is that there are far too many offshoot storylines that have little or no bearing on the story.
There’s also a huge amount of information about the nuances of investment banking that could’ve been left out. It doesn’t further the story and really just bogs the reader down in needless information.
I also didn’t like the way the author dragged the book out to neatly tie up all the loose ends of every single character, and almost every ending was some kind of tragedy. It was unnecessary and felt melodramatic and rushed.
The story of a boss being accused of sexual harassment and the ensuing fallout was what I expected to read. Unfortunately there was so much else in this book that didn’t need to be there that the main storyline lost most of its appeal. This isn’t a book I would recommend.
