My name is Isabel, and I was born in a family of killers. For their crimes, I must now pay a terrible price.

The brutes come for me after dark and tear apart everything I’ve known. I scream, cry, and crawl at their feet. It’s all in vain. They spare my life and take me as their slave, as their plaything, and when they get bored of me, they’ll throw me away.

Jax, Reid, and Thorn. The wolves of the Woodward Pack. When they claim me, I feel whole again. Is it insanity? Is it obsession? I taste blood and tears in their kisses.

They’ve taken my freedom, claimed my soul, and yet… I’m not sure I want to escape.

Authors’ Note: This is a full, standalone dark romance story with no cliffhangers, and a happily-ever-after. Please be advised that it may contain situations that are triggering to some, profanity, and a lot of steam.

For a dark RH romance this isn't bad...not by any means. However, it was completely ruined by the lack of any redemption.

In my dark romances - especially ones that include kidnapping, imprisonment, torture, rape, etc - there has to be a big redemption on the part of the Hero's. I have to be able to see the change in them. I need to believe in their "love" for our heroine. Sadly, this just didn't meet that criteria.

To break it down for those who need to know....one of the Hero's is soo scared, pissed, etc that he's stuck with a human mate that he brings OW to his house and FORCES THE HEROINE TO WATCH HIM FUCK HER at 70%!!! We get the whole scene in both the heroine and Hero's head...the heroine of course is devastated and begs...BEGS...to just be set free. While in the Hero's head we know he DOESN'T want to actually have sex with the OW and that he had to picture the heroine in order to get off BUT THATS NO FUCKING EXCUSE!!! He knew what he was doing, knew it was wrong and was pushing to far, but he didn't stop!
To add insult to injury the "sorry" was just that...no groveling, no begging, no real apology...just "I'm sorry" and of course our doormat of a heroine is all "its ok". Then...the book just ends. We don't even get to see any real happiness.

So...could have been a solid 4 star but it immediately dropped to one (or less) due to the doormat heroine and unredeemed Hero.

Stop apologizing, stupid lady!
They killed your family, abused, raped and humiliated you - so stop apologizing for you family and go-with-the-flow existence till now.

This is more than just betraying body thing.
She’s a total messed up wimp. They killed her family and she’s making excuses for them, the killers and how her family were the shittiest ppl ever. Firstly, two wrongs do not make a right and certainly some loyalty towards family is not asking for much. These shifter dbs are killers, rapists and pretty judgmental ppl themselves so commiserating with their grieving 'mother' when one of them dies is smh-uncalled-for.

I get humiliation and the victim enjoying it but there has to be a context. And this was not IT.
She should be tolerating BUT hating it. And she owes nothing to these SOBs.
So, all the writhing, getting turned on and begging ‘yes please, more’ to her rapists is a big huge icky turnoff. Or just come out and state your 'poison'.
The story has some (some) merit but taking off most stars because of the whooped up confused little h. The ‘Hs’ are not even a factor. The story or the h's capitulation would be easier to bear if these guys were not the zeroes that they were.
I wish she’d shown some mettle, some self-worth and kicked some shifty a**.
Even her running off the second time because she feels betrayed as Jax took another women is tstl pathetic.
Angst is so contrived and amateurish.

I really do not know what to make with this one, I know that I am a huge fan of Eva so I gave this a try. Sounded really good, and I had no problems at first. But there is one thing that I cannot stand and that is cheating. Even though the situation is not that great, I just did not like that he did it in front of her, and that he did it at all. So if cheating does not bother you, then I think that you would enjoy this more. I did enjoy the story, and the plot up until that point.

The characters were not really what I usually see from Eva so, I was torn on this one. But if that does not bother you, then I think that you would enjoy this book.

This is a stunningly, well-written reverse harem shifter romance that has some dark undertones. The plot is suspenseful & very intriguing with some unique & totally unexpected situations. There are good scene descriptions & world building. The characters are quite complex individuals & at times, the male characters are quite brutal with their actions towards the female character but at other times rather loving & protective.
There is: a young human female (Isabel Bishop) is forced to atone for her family’s devious crimes when she is taken captive by three alpha male wolf shifters (Jax, Reid &Thorn) of the Woodward Pack, a domineering female wolf shifter (Mama Rose), wolf shifters, rogues, humans, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, adventure, action, mates, vengeful feelings, abduction, trust issues, threats, violence, brutality, suspicions, manipulations, humiliation, anguish, betrayal, discovery, regrets, decisions, confrontations, compromises, love, contentment, explicit steamy scenes & a well-deserved happy ending.

Isabel is human, born into what amounts to a cruel and sadistic family who takes joy in killing shifters. After their brutal outing, some of the shifters break into their home to take their rightful revenge. Her family is destroyed, but they somehow think that the one person who was against the killing and did not participate should be the one to pay a heavy price for her family’s butchery of their kind.

So the shifters destroy everything and spare Isabel to take her back to the pack as their slave and plaything. As if this is not enough craziness, Isabel feels “whole again” when Jax, Reid, and Thorn of the Woodward Pack viciously claim her! (I can’t keep score on this one.) She seems to want to stay there and put up with their punishment for something she had absolutely nothing to do with.

A story line like this just pulls me down. No one on either side has gained anything, no respect, no justice, no new beginning – just vengeance taken out cruelly on the wrong party, and a doormat female whose is happy to stay a slave. I don’t get it. I don’t understand it. I guess I am too stubborn to tolerate that treatment and would have spent my days trying to kill all three of them for their unjust behavior. This book just felt bad to me and there was nothing enjoyable about it. Cruelty is not power. It is weakness of one’s soul and it brings nothing good to any situation if we don’t learn from the mistakes.

**Trigger Warning- brutally bloody and on borderline of rape but consensual**

Isabel didn't quit have a rough upbringing but borderline. It was more along the lines that she was at the control of her parents and no choice in what she wanted and never listened to. Then you have the Woodward brothers who are wolf shifters and they can be savage when needed. So when the brothers and Isabel collide what will happen? I can say that the story line was intense, sad, and a bit heartbreaking. The guys definitely needed to learn a lesson with what they were saying about humans. In ways they acted no better? Isabel was definitely strong, determined and a little patient. Over I did enjoy the book and loved how each of the characters developed through out the book.

I will say this story kept you wanting to see what would happen. I liked the story line, but felt the sexual parts could have been better. I also would have loved to have seen Isabel to have a bigger backbone. So follow the life of Isabel and see where it leads her.

Isobel is forced to go with her family and while together, the men go hunting and are mean and cruel. While eating dinner, the wolf shifters strike and kill her entire family except for her. She will belong to them, what will happen when sparks begin to fly between the wolf shifters that took her and herself? Fast-paced read with lots of dram and steamy. A good read.

Captured is book one in the series Primal Obsessions by authors Cara Wylde & Eva Brandt. Deliciously intense read that will definitely cause a stir(wink). Might be a bit much for the faint of heart- yet if you’re not then get ready for a wild ride.

Isobel is forced to go to with her family to meet the other members of the family. This is when the men hunt animals, she is opposed to it. Her family never listens to her. All they do is threaten her or make her feel little. She wishes she wasn't there, she preferred to stay home. She hears the mean come back from their hunt, she is upset over what she sees.
Isobel is not enjoying the family dinner at all. They won't stop talking about what they did. Her father is telling her she will learn to shot and hunt. She tries to tell them, no. But her father wasn't listening. All of sudden, there is an explosion of wolves in their home. They go after everyone but her. Isobel is terrified and they change to men.
Isobel is taken to back to pack land, they inform her her life is theirs. She killed their brother, they will do whatever they want to her. Isobel is terrifed by them, but she also feels a pull. Isobel's life is going to change whether is wants it to or not.

This was a good read, the authors kept everything at a good pace. There are themes in this book that might make other uncomfortable.

Mmmm, something dark, dirty, and sexy lives here, but it's not for the faint of heart.

Werewolves: Jax, Reid, and Thorn Woodward are out for retribution; only blood will do.

There is a debt to pay for the death of their brother Chase, and despite killing the death dealers, there is no sweeter boon than taking the surviving daughter, Isabel, as a slave. They can't punish the dead for their sins, but they can continue receiving payment from Isabel's soft flesh. That works until she starts liking how the Woodwards discipline her for the sins of her kin.

Captured is a rough read unless you can stomach dark romance. This book is not for the weak or timid reader. It's an abduction and imprisonment story where the victim becomes a Queen, and her captors her servants. And it's kinky hotness. Whoo! Is it steamy AF.

I am not going to list triggers here, assume this book has all of them and decide whether you can stomach the risk.

Pathetic - misogynistic and weak *spoilers*

The FMC is pathetic. Her entire family (admittedly horrible people) gets killed in front of her and she gets kidnapped. Totally fine so far. The wolves then blame her and a series of humiliations ensure - fine, again. The three alphas have sex with her (dub con, sort of, if I’m being generous) and suddenly she conveniently forgets all the crap they put her through. She has to be a naked table at a meeting - weird, but whatevs. One of the guys has sex with another shifter in front of her and knots her, albeit briefly (no being generous with that one). After that a series of weird plot crapola - I’m assuming to redeem the MMC? They give her an Oops I’m so sorry and all is forgiven ... WTF?! In the weak epilogue - the most hated line - we all make mistakes ... ummm she did nothing wrong at all.

The multiple POV did nothing - the guys were awful.

I’m bummed since the author bios state they like to write feisty and snarky females - none of that is present here. The FMC is stupid and pathetic throughout.

One of the worst shifter books ever. Read anything else!

I normally love Eva Brandt books but I wasn't really happy with this one because I could never learn to like any of the characters. And I read allot of bully romance, reverse harem were the guys are beyond cruel and sadistic but by the end of the book or the series there redeemable and the heroine takes allot but gives as good as she gets so I could only rate this book a 3.4 the writing style was spot on but the storyline just wasn't there for me.

Isabelle comes from a cruel sick family and is just as abused as there victims only shes not dead yet. She wants nothing to do with there hunting trips its barbaric. But her family has made a mistake now there dead shes a captive and being made to pay for all there twisted sickness. But for whatever reason she begins to crave her captors and there cruelty and its pretty bad but I'm not going to get into that. The guys ugh one of them actually has sex in front of her with someone else what a piece of crap. Anyway that and some other things turned me of this book.

The idea for the book was good, Isabel doesn't approve of her family's lifestyle and when they kill a were wolf, his three brothers Jax, Reid and Thorn come for revenge, kills her family in front of her and takes her as a sex slave. They are horrible to her and the names they call her and the humiliation they subject her to is just abusive, she is a doormat with no confidence or self-respect and just lets them do what ever they want while she falls in love and forgives them everything. Jax makes her watch him having sex with another woman and then throws her out and tells her to leave nobody wants her there, where after she runs into another pack that is crazy and want to offer her as a sacrifice. The brothers rescue her and all of a sudden after a "sorry" she instantly forgives and loves them and everything is HEA where are the redeeming by these alpha's?. I could not relate to any of the Alpha's or Isabel.

Primal Obsessions are three stand alone novels that contain some violence and possible triggers. Each one having its own degree of violence burn. For me this one was the least out of all of them.

Out of all the Primal Obessesions I feel as if this one needed another male character. However that's what lead to poor Isabels predicament in the first place. Her family being ruthless hunters hunted the wrong thing that night and they paid the price for that life, in full. Even if it means taking her as a hostage to make her pay for the injustices her family had done to the Woodward pack.

The ending had me thrown off though, I'm not sure if it was intended but it had me questioning what I had initially thought at the beginning, how I had wanted another character to be in this particular story. With this little nugget thrown in I'm now looking forward to the next book....?

This was another wonderful dark read and as always it was an amazing pleasure being your ARC reader 💕

"The time for justice had come."

This is definitely on the dark end of the spectrum for a few reasons, not the least of which is Isabel's family being "guilty" of something I'd like to think even they would recognize as a crime if they knew shifters existed... but, alas, when you don't know shifters are real, in a way, you are operating from a place of ignorance.

This story is intense, in large part because a lot of grief, and upset is in the mix. Isabel, Jax, Reid, and Thorn's story would play out 100% differently if they met in a college campus, or bumped into each other in a grocery store, instead they meet under the most trying of circumstances, and almost immediately glimpse one another's strengths, and weaknesses.

This is a done in one quick read with a particularly intense opening couple of chapters.

I was gifted with a copy, switched to the Kindle Unlimited version when it was released, and chose to leave a review.

Wow a great dark reverse harem romance. It had just about everything in it. Though some parts were gruesome to read it is what it is. A Dark Romance. The lead woman was a bit on the trail side in my opinion, but she got stronger as she went along with what was going on.
Isabel hates her family for what they've been doing the past few years. She can only wish to be free of her family in the smallest moments. And pray for a good job so she can get away. But that day my not come after the hurt the wrought earlier that day....
They felt it. It couldn't be could it? The loss, the pain, the empty gaping hole in their chests. Revenge will be brutal, bloody and a dish best served quick and fatal. Only they didn't expect to find her, all doe eyed and innocent looking with blond hair looking like an angel.

I’ve read many dark stories, but I just couldn’t get into this one. I don’t have any triggers, but the names that they called Isabel constantly was unnecessary and in poor taste. I’ve read other works by both of these authors and this one just isn’t what I was expecting after reading the blurb.
Isabel isn’t like the rest of her family. They’re killers- they hunt for fun and are ruthless about it. But, she’s weak. She doesn’t do or say anything about it for fear that she’ll be cut off. The guys, Jax, Reid, and Thorn are grieving their brother. I understand they want revenge, to make her life as horrible as they can. I’m used to reading about torture, abuse, and horrible, dark themes. I couldn’t connect or find myself liking any of the characters or that they deserved redemption or a HEA. I did like the twist in the middle of the story and I think that’s what made me give this book three stars. I liked the other pack’s beliefs, although they were twisted. Here’s to hoping that the other two in the series will be better.

This book delivered. I love dark romance, I love reverse harem, and I love shifter books so the fact that one book had all that mixed together had me diving head first into the story. It was dark, sometimes disturbing, the alphas were so hot, each in their own way and the heroine sweet and likeable. The story was very different from any I've read of this type. The darker the better for me and this one hit at a medium darkish level in my opinion and just as the author stated in the blurb, it does have parts of it I could see being triggering for some readers. So don't blame the book if you are easily triggered and still decide to give it a go. This was the first time reading anything from these authors and I am so looking forward to finding more books.

DNF - Quit at 20%
Wow, this is a really dark story. It was really hard for me to read the 20% that I did. I had a hard time thinking of this as just a dark romance, it went way beyond dark, maybe more of a horror story (with Stockholm syndrome thrown in later on -since I quit before it got to that). Others might like this, but it was too disturbing, scary, and dark for me to appreciate it. I need the heroes to have some sort of redeemable qualities. But the 3 werewolves just seemed horrible, this book is not something I can appreciate without thinking the heroine ended up with Stockholm syndrome in order to want to be with them. Nope, I'm out.

At my age (approaching 60), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

This was exactly as the blurb suggested. We meet Isabel who is really unhappy with her family, who are not good people. Their actions cause Isabel to become a slave to three alpha werewolves. I actually really liked the story and I liked Jax, Reid and Thorn. The downside was I didn't like Isabel, she came across very childish and immature Also I know it's a story and not real life but her falling for them happened so quickly despite how they treated her and I would have preferred a slightly longer story so that their love story could have a grown a bit more before professing love in what seems like a matter of days.
Overall though I did like to story and it was well written.

Isabel's family hunted animals and had them stuffed as ornaments. She hated what they did, but didnt have a choice but to go aling with them on their trips. Although she never participated in the hunts, she knew what went on.
When they came back with a dead wolf, they had no ideas what they had set in motion. Jax, Reid, and Thorn were werewolves, and the wolf that her father and cousins had killed was their brother.
They wreaked their vengeance - and killed every person in the house except for Isabel. They captured her back to their pack - were they going to rape and then kill her? She had no idea - but somehow, found herself attracted to them. What would happen to her? Would they kill her?

Slave? Isabel comes from a family of hunters. But they just don’t hunt for food, they hunt and kill whole packs of animas and stuff and exhibit them. When forced to go on a family vacation with them to their cabin, her dad, uncle, and cousins bring home a huge wolf, but just as they are ready to skin it wolves break in and kill her entire family and transform into men and take her for a slave to avenge the death of their brother. Now Isabel is paying the price for her family’s practices even though she never approved. But can she survive what they will do to her or will she become their mate instead of their slave. Captured is a twisted, hot, mess, that plays on people's emotions, and leaves them jonesing for their next fix just like a junkie.

This book is all about revenge for something the female protagonist did not do, but is in fact paying for because her family committed the deeds. If you can't handle triggers, especially for crimes she did not commit, then I suggest you don't read this book, otherwise the other two books are available for review.

Captured is the first book I have read by Eva Brandt, but it definitely won't be the last. Once this review is posted, I will be grabbing the next two books to read ASAP!! If you haven't read a book a book by Ms. Brandt yet, I highly recommend you read Captured, you won't be sorry.

Isabel is the daughter of well to do parents. They spend their summers in the mansion her family built in the Appalachian Mountains. The men in her family are hunters, not for meat as much as for trophies. It disgusts Isabel, but there isn't anything she can do about it. When the men go out, they come back with a huge wolf. Unfortunately for them, it is a werewolf and his brothers come for their revenge. They kill everyone of her family and then take Isabel as a sex slave. I do think that Isabel falls in love rather quickly with the men that killed her family, but it is fiction. There is a HEA for everyone.

This is the 1st book by Cara Wylde that I have read, but it won't be the last. Ms. Wylde has a way of story telling that not only keeps you reading to the end but throws surprises at you when you least expect it. Her world building is fantastic and her characters are delightfully flawed but you can't help cheer for their happily ever after. Jax, Reid, Thorn and Isabel's story is one of survival during a very tragic time in all their lives, but they do make it out the other side the better for it. This book has everything that you could want; drama, action, catastrophe, conflict and hot, hot romance. This is a dark story but well worth it, you really don't want to miss this one!

Well written but I wouldn't consider this a dark romance by any means. This should be categorized under Stockholm Syndrome or something like mentally unfit heroines. This story made me wonder if the writer(s) have any semblance of respect towards women or condone abuse of them.

The redemption-arch in this story was minimal and poorly executed (hence the early comments). Thorn was somewhat redeemable but the other two Hs were such 100% assholes that it was hard to imagine them as actual pack leaders. They were more like the enemy pack alphas that one would want to read getting their throats ripped out.

I can't recall reading a story where the h was created in such a poor light. What a sad book.

Her family murdered a member of their pack, for that they will pay. Isabel doesn't really like her family most of the time, she knows what they are, but she could have never expected to witness a brutal retaliation, or being taken captive to pay for their crimes. Jax, Reid, and Thorn, alphas of the Woodward pack, the men who will make Isabel pay for the death of a member of their pack.

Wow, sizzling hot, and dark romance that is action packed, and exciting with a twist I didn't see coming. Fascinating, well written characters, and an HEA, I think this is a fantastic, must read.
