Shadowed Wings #3

The Reclamation

Rate this book
The last place I ever wanted to be was in the middle of someone else’s war. Too bad fate doesn’t give a fuck.

When I first woke up in the land of the gryphons, I had one goal...getting back home.

I was so focused on figuring out how to leave, that I got myself exiled from The Hidden, captured by The Avowed, and managed to claim not one, but three mates. Although I had no idea about that last one until it was too late.

Oh right, and then I almost died.

I thought having my throat slit from ear to ear was going to be the worst of my problems.
But my asshole mates make coming back from the brink of death look like a glide through the sky compared to dealing with them.

I’m ready to accept my fate and right the wrongs of the past. I just wish I had some idea how to keep the pricks I’m bound to from fighting long enough so we can to find the help we need.

I’m supposed to awaken all that I am in order to finally free the gryphons, But will I find the key to unlock all the answers in time?

War is breathing down our backs, and if we can’t figure out how to come together...we’re all going to die.

Ivy Asher is addicted to chai, swearing, and laughing a lot (but not in a creepy, laughing alone kind of way). She loves the snow, books, and her family of two humans, and three fur-babies. She has worlds and characters just floating around in her head, and she's lucky enough to be surrounded by amazing people who support that kind of crazy.

Does anyone else get all happy and shit when they finish a series? Or is that just me?

I'm honestly not sure why I waited to dive into The Reclamation until now. Especially since it came out in May. I guess it doesn't actually matter because I finally did it - I dove into this book and devoured it.

Since the second book came out in February, I didn't really think I forgot anything that happened in it. For me, it was pretty easy just to slip back into this world and follow along with everything. Of course, it was probably super easy that these guys are still douche canoes. Now if they were completely nicer versions of themselves.. or I don't know didn't have a stick shoved up into their butts.. then I probably would've stopped reading this book and dove back into the first two.

Luckily for me, they didn't change one bit and I just went back to hating them.

The only thing I wanted more of was groveling. These guys had plenty of time to pull their heads out of their asses and apologize for all the shit that put Falon/Pigeon through. I honestly don't think they did enough because they just went through so much.

In the end, I still enjoyed this book a lot and I definitely need to dive into one of her other series.

I really wish I knew this was part of Lost Sentinel series

Man that ending! I had zero idea that there was a crossover with Vinna and her guys. So that was tough because I’m still in the middle of that series, and this was slightly spoilery. I liked this one but I wish Falon would have inquired about anything. Learned something. This one has many ups and downs, and sometimes I felt like Falon forgave them too quickly. But I also understand why. It’s interesting how the two series are converging so I’m wondering about the next books for this and the other series. I’m definitely invested in where this goes.

Her mates did NOT deserve her, all 3 of them were verbally and mentally abusive. And Zephe (I hated him) literally SEXUALLY ASSAULTED her, and when she defended herself with a magic word that gives her control over him, he PHYSICALLY ASSAULTS her (by choking her out against a wall) and then proceeds to tell her to leave (even though he makes it clear that her leaving spells her death and possible torture). If that isn't enough he then TELLS her that if she comes back he will KILL HER himself. There is no coming back from that. Not to mention the lying and other betrayals he puts her through. I was disgusted bc of course she ends up forgiving. I was so disappointed that she wasn't able to severe the mate bonds and upset that the author even teased us with the hope of her being able to, that's how terribly this woman was abused. At minimum the bonds should have been severed with the mates having to EARN back those bonds.

It also pissed me off that after the bond severing failure the MC goes and comforts her BIGGEST abuser, Zephe, bc he's not doing well with the bond. It's so amazing to me that all of these women in mate bonds can be so sympathetic and forgiving to their mates due to the "bond" yet the bond never means those things for the men . The bond doesn't keep them from being physically and emotionally abusive. The bond for damn sure didn't stop Zephe from sexually assaulting her, gaslighting her, physical assaulting her, sending her to her death or threatening to kill her. DNF

I was so excited to read the rest of the series after book one, but then...

These last two books progressively turned into a clusterf*ck. So many things going to sh*t at once. So many half-assed plot lines going on at once.

And all the while, Falon's emotions and libido are like:

This one was better than the second one. The beginning of this book was such a heartache, when Falon got to the point to break off everything with the guys. I loved that she finally stood up for herself and didn´t take no more shit from them that she already has. I feel they where fucking stupid idiotas who acted too much with their emotions and got waaay to harsh on poor Falon. I wanted to jump into the book to punch all of em expect Falon tho. Like i get totally why she wanted to leave, like they still didn´t tell her important stuff to her.
Damn that ending really left me wanting more of that world and characters! omg we get to see Vinna and her guys and probs another girl and mates? in the future books aka series??!

Gryphon conclusion.

All in all this series was ok. There were things I liked and things I didn't. The world building was neat, specifically the Avowed and the Hidden. I liked most of the characters. I think Lasssa could have been fleshed out more, though. There were too many pop culture references for me, from movies to songs to celebrities. I found it strange that the heroine spoke to her Gryphon through mental gifs and memes.

Ivy, you evil genius you!

Getting through this series was hard but at the end it was worth it. As if dealing with asshole mates was not enough, the torture of getting information in bits and pieces almost drove me crazy. A little bit risky because at some points I almost quit and I am sure some people did, but I held on because the plot is that much interesting. I am not changing my book 1 rating even though now I sort of get it. I love that while there is clear growth and character development, everyone remained true to form, Zeph the mega asshole, Ryn the undecided-peace-maker and Treno the sweetheart. And last but not least, Pigeon, her's and Falon's relationship is one of the things that carried me through the hard times of this series.

Frankly, I thought this was a mess.

The only part that "saved" this for me, was that I liked the heroine as a whole, especially her relationship with her Gryphon, Pigeon.

I didn't really like any of her males.

No words

I have no words left to describe my love/hate relationship with Ivy. I love her mind and her words. But I hate how she leaves me hanging! I guess if I didn't love her worlds so much it wouldn't be bad. But she is a genius. You can't help but to be sucked in every time. Beautifully written. You laugh you cry it's perfect! I can't wait to read more from this world. Remember you promised it wouldn't take a year!

What's next

Falon took forever to forgive the guys. I can't blame her too much but that mess took up so much of her story. I am surprised she's not pregnant yet with all the mating going on. Her relationship with Pigeon was also needing repair and there were some heartbreaking moments.

I am so excited to see what happens next since it looks like they have things to do in her home world.

3-3.5 stars. Well! So was I the last one to realize that this was written in the same "world" as the sentinel series. Who saw that stuff coming! Totally threw me. Maybe I just missed out on the clues throughout the series? Combining them like that did give a whole new depth to the world build for me since I read and loved the sentinel series. Not to mention it seems like we are set u for a whole new series based in this world as well. Can't wait!

As for Pigeon, Falon and the douches.. well. Can't say that the attempt to cut the mate dies and its result weren't a little disappointing for me. Wish she had been more successful in her endeavors. I get it the guys were total douchers..but crime doesn't really fit the punishment in this case they went above and beyond to make Falon and Pigeon too feel like crap the whole time. She is basically innocent in this whole mess. Its irritating that I don't feel like the book was long enough for them to not only explain themselves but also make it up to her.

Falon and her reluctant guys are on the run from the evil king.. which we never really got any explanations to his motivations except his need for power. They run off to find Falon's people for answers and gain an army as well as knowledge on how to use the runes. The showdown is imminent but Falon's story isn't quite over here at the end.. It seems there are more like her out there and she may be tasked to help find them.

All in all it was entertaining, though I felt like the ending here was a little rushed or maybe I just wasn't quite ready to leave this world yet! Love Ivy Asher and her sense of humor in her stories. Can't wait to see more from her!

I was around 40% into this delightful book when I realized I had made a terrible mistake - I had yet to finish The Last Sentinel Series. Yeah, yeah... I don't know how that happened either, especially since I've had Book 4 sitting on my Kindle since its publication date. Regardless, events in this saga caused me to backtrack and reread that series from start to finish, then pick up this book once more. That little adventure made this novel even richer, offering me the chance to view the events, timeline and characters in the way they were meant to be seen.... at least it appeared that way to me.

The Shadowed Wings series jumps off of The Last Sentinel, though it's not incredibly apparent till it smacks you in the face midway through Book 3. You can still enjoy it without reading the first series, buuuutttt.... it really does make it better.

As for THIS series and THIS book.... wow. Just wow. It was emotional, devastating, a bit bloody and just enough to whet the palate for everything that is the Ouphe/Sentinel Universe! Falon is kick@ss and finally starts coming into her own strength, learning to delve into the caverns of her abilities - and connect with Pigeon along the way. Her love life takes drastic, bumpy turns and brings big questions to the table. All that set against the backdrop of a war that won't leave them alone... in other words? It's fantastic.

Not really satisfying…and her mates are AWFUL

This entire series had so much potential. I would’ve appreciated a more in depth explanation about how humans and shifters interact with one another at the beginning of book one, (when Falon was on Earth) so I wasn’t so surprised when Falon just accepted that she was a Gryphon when she fell through the portal and landed in an entirely different realm. The beginning just happens so quickly, with certain situations that were completely unnecessary and could’ve been cut out in order to make room for more “world building.”

**SPOILERS**

Falon takes her grandmother’s ashes to the mountains, as her grandmother wanted to have her ashes spread out in a specific site when she passed. No sooner has Falon accomplished this task she starts to feel odd, and the next thing you know Falon is in BIRD FORM - initially she thought she was a dragon - but when she lands she realizes she’s a giant bird-like creature. She was struck down and then she’s attacked and taken prisoner. Falon is thoroughly confused, and cannot understand what the heck is going on and why she’s being dragged in front of some medieval like court to be interrogated. She comes face-to-face with Z who is the leader of The Hidden - a group of Gryphon shifters who have run off, refusing to be branded by the Avowed, and forced into a sort of slavery. Z’s second in command, R, is slightly more welcoming to Falon than his leader, (Z is pretty much an a-hole from the second he and Falon meet).

At first Z is convinced that Falon is a spy for their enemies, the Avowed, and is determined to prove it. Both Z and R have this strange connection to Falon though, and even she and her Gryphon (whom she affectionately names Pigeon) agree that there is “something there,” even if she does hate them most of the time (Z especially). When R goes off on a mission, Z seizes his chance! He sleeps with Falon, then shrugs her aside and tells her to leave, and if she ever returns to their castle he’ll kill her! Falon is CRUSHED, absolutely heart-broken, she had begun to believe Z had feelings for her, and her Gryphon had grown very attached to his Gryphon. Well, it doesn’t take much time after she is forced to leave that Falon finds herself in a dangerous situation! She’s caught in a net, and kidnapped by T, who is the brother of the King of the avowed, Lazza - a true psychopath, a king bent on destroying all of the hidden and/or marking them to serve him.

I liked Falon to a degree. I thought she rolled with the punches, and kept persevering despite all the adversity in front of her…what I didn’t like…I didn’t like how Falon turned into an entirely different woman in front of her “mates.” Now I use this term lightly because Falon had instant chemistry with these douche canoes, but no idea that she was mates to them. They knew the second they touched her, heck saw her, that she belonged to them and said nothing.

Falon, despite being in an unknown realm, and at a severe disadvantage tries her best to “fit in.” And even listen to Z, the leader (her unknown mate) even when he’s being an ass, and that’s like ALL THE TIME! She makes excuses for Z and R’s deplorable behavior towards her all the time, even when they use her like she’s a common prostitute and not a cherished mate!! Z especially is cruel, and mean. He uses the excuse of her still possibly being a spy even though he KNOWS she isn’t, to keep her at arms length. He even goes so far as to make out with another woman IN FRONT OF Falon when he knows she’s his mate but she doesn’t.

Once everything comes to a head at Lazza’s court, and Z, R, T and Falon (yes I’m using just the first letter in their names, not to save you from spoilers, but because I honestly disliked them that much) barely escape the evil king and the true traitor in Z’s camp, R’s evil sister who had been in disguise and spying for the evil king. At this point I honestly wanted to wash my hands of Falcon’s entire harem - they gave me a headache just reading about them. All they did was fight, argue, demean, and put Falon down. Even when Falon has the smart idea to search out the Ouef (a group that had pretty much wronged the Grphon’s, but held no love for the evil king - had magic, and could help) her “mates” still disparaged, undermined, and put her down. Z’s behavior snd attitude gets worse, not better as the series continues, even in book three he’s horrible - AND IT’S THE LAST FREAKING BOOK!!!! There is no connection between Falon and her mates in 3 books because she’s either never with them, or when she briefly sees them (and they aren’t using her for sex) they’re blaming her for all of their misfortunes and problems!!!

Falon, being a good person, even tries to break the bonds between the four of them, and that just pisses them off further and gives Z more reasons to hate her!! Oh and this is after she learns that they freaking mated her WITHOUT HER CONSENT OR KNOWLEDGE! She still tries to give them their freedom, even when they’re treating her like absolute garbage!! At every turn, every moment spent of this book without Falon trying to free the Grphons and break the vow, is spent of her supposed mates acting like petulant, horrible, selfish, cruel a-holes. Now if it had been an enemies to lovers trope, and lasted maybe a book or maybe a book and a half I think I could’ve stood for it, and looked forward to the MMC’s groveling for her forgiveness! But Z treats her like shyte and doesn’t even acknowledge how important she is to him until the end of the series, not the end of the book, the END OF THE FREAKING SERIES! Add in T’s deplorable behavior in book 3 and frankly her entire harem sucked hard!!! They were awful and totally didn’t deserve her!

To add injury to insult the end of the series, book 3 was absolutely horrible!! I’m not kidding, the ending was positively awful!!

I wouldn’t waste my time on this series unless you like hopeless heroines chasing after unworthy awful mates!

That was exhilarating!!!! Vinna, my favourite badass ever, met Falon, and I'm squealing inside like they're not fictional. Oh my stars that was awesome!!!!

I mean the start was really rocky. Falon kept putting up with her shitty mates and not doing anything about how they were hurting her. Then Wekun shows up, gives her power back, and she finally starts fucking shit up.

"I can’t keep operating like Zeph, Ryn, and Treno have common courtesy, decency, or genuine concern when it comes to me."

Tbh, I get that they're mates and all, but I do not understand the forgiveness part. But i guess it adds to the whole power thing?

Anyway, the battle started next and I liked that it wasn't the main focus. It was over in like a few pages. I also loved the twist. It was unexpected and it brought all of them together. But why is there no new book in this universe?! It's been almost three years now.

not a complete series

I only read complete series so I picked this up having liked the Lost Sentinel series prior to it. I loved this series even more than Vinna’s stories. However, this book ends on a cliffhanger with so many unanswered loose ends. The entire last chapter only sets up the next series instead of wrapping up this one. I am absolutely not a fan of that. Until then,
I was really enjoying everything and the incredible push and pull of the characters. I was raving about the book. But nope. Lost me at the ending. I don’t mind cliffhangers as long as the story itself is complete, but it’s like the author got bored with Falon’s story and just wandered away. Deeply unsatisfying.

Ivy Asher delivers another fast-paced, emotionally charged ride in The Reclamation. The character growth is strong, and the twists kept me hooked from start to finish. I loved the deepening bonds and the raw vulnerability woven into the action. A few moments felt a little rushed, but overall, this was a satisfying continuation of the series that left me eager for more.

The more this book delved into the Sentinel world the less I liked it. By the very end of this book Falon and her mates are involved with Vinna and her mates, from The Lost and the Chosen, and have a whole new set of adventures awaiting them. I can sort of appreciate what the author is trying to do here. An epic world build with overlapping storylines and characters can be great. I was just hoping that this would be a wholly unique and self contained series. It isn't. This series is more of a bump in the road for Vinna and Falon at this point.

As for the first portions of this book, it was OK. Falon learns to live with her Gryphon a little more. She FINALLY makes up with her mates and gets some begrudging half assed apologies. But, the whole road getting there was very long and painful. This wasn't a particularly happy series and I just ended up feeling bad for the FMC 99% of the time.

**Pigeon is My Fave! 😂**

Oh. My. God. What an absolute ride Ivy Asher took me on with *The Reclamation*! This third installment in the *Shadowed Wings* series is the epic follow-up we all needed—more action, more snark, and ALL the feels. First of all, Ivy Asher has built a magical world so rich, it practically drips from the pages. Gryphon shifters, magical realms, and of course, a whole lot of drama, spice, and adventure. Ms. Asher is the queen of why-choose romance, and let me tell you, her world-building is **chef’s kiss**.

If you've been following our gryphon queen (and if you haven’t, what are you even doing?!), you'll know that she’s been through hell—literally and figuratively. In this book, she’s still reeling from being exiled from *The Hidden*, captured by *The Avowed*, and oh yeah—claiming not one, not two, but THREE alpha mates. Talk about having her hands full! I love how Ivy gives us this chaotic yet beautifully structured world where nothing is black-and-white, and even the fiercest enemies are sometimes allies.

Now, let’s get to the juicy bits. I *love* how Pigeon—the MC’s gryphon—continues to be such a scene-stealer. She’s sassy, has a penchant for trouble, and might just be my spirit animal (but let’s be real, I would *not* survive in her world). And can we talk about the alpha mates for a sec? They’re all frustratingly hot, possessive, and have the audacity to bring *all* the drama. Yes, they’ve got baggage, but watching them wrestle with their own feelings while supporting our heroine is the real treat.

One of the best things about this book is how it’s not just about surviving in this twisted gryphon world. Our girl is awakening, discovering her full power, and ready to right the wrongs of the past. The stakes have never been higher, and with Ivy Asher’s writing, the tension keeps you flipping pages like your life depends on it. Plus, the banter between characters? Top-notch. It's the perfect mix of steamy, snarky, and gut-wrenching.

So yeah, five stars all the way for this book! Ivy Asher, you’ve got me hooked—take all my money! I’m already diving into the next series, but I’ll be doing a full breakdown of the *Shadowed Wings* saga on my Goodreads blog, so keep an eye out. *The Reclamation* is a must-read if you’re into kickass heroines, possessive alpha males, and world-building that’ll have you daydreaming about gryphon wings.

**Fave Quotes:**

1. *"The last place I ever wanted to be was in the middle of someone else’s war. Too bad fate doesn’t give a fuck."* – Honestly, relatable.

2. *"I need to keep Pigeon and her wandering eye on a tight leash. Which is a hell of a lot easier said than done."* – Pigeon, you troublemaker, you! 😂

3. *"I thought having my throat slit from ear to ear was going to be the worst of my problems. But my asshole mates make coming back from the brink of death look like a glide through the sky."* – As if dying wasn’t bad enough, the real drama starts after!

4. *"I’m supposed to awaken all that I am in order to finally free the gryphons. But will I find the strength before everything crumbles?"* – The stakes are high, and so are my nerves!

**Final Thoughts:** If you love strong female characters, gryphons, and a wild, fantastical adventure with plenty of spice and sass, *The Reclamation* is for you. Buckle up because Ivy Asher doesn’t hold back!

I’m glad I started reading this last installment of the series immediately. I’m convinced had I not, Falon would be dead. As it is now that I’ve started reading, she is alive and reunited with all 3 of her mates, one whom I loathe (I seriously HATE Zeph, he belongs in prison for domestic violence and abuse), and one who still tries to order her around: “Falon, you are not allowed to die,” he yells at me, and if his tone wasn’t so heart-wrenching, it would be funny and irritating that even in death, he’s trying to order me around.”

There always has to be one jerk in a reverse harem, I guess its Zeph; the one who fights it and treats her horribly until he can no longer fight it and succumbs deeper in love than any of the others. Falon, herself describes him, “angry, vicious, knife-tongued male.” Treno is still my favorite even though he wishes he wasn’t her mate because he feels so hurt by her omission of the truth, and because he was forcibly kidnapped by Zeph when she was rescued. Falon is actually my hero. She is badass in this realm as she was in Colorado as a biker mechanic chick. I feel all of her heartache over how deeply she’s been betrayed, how her dream of returning home has been shattered, and how heavy the responsibility she feels for people she now cares about. The fated mates thing isn’t going well for her.

“yeah, yeah, yeah, mates are supposed to be different, some biological and magical thing that sparks up and then fucks with your destiny, but look how well that’s going for me so far.”

I’m also angry with how her parents had purposefully kept the knowledge of who she is from her. The relationship that took me by surprise and has been the most enjoyable is the one with Pigeon. Its like having a bestie with you at all times, one who can kick ass when the need arises, and one who feels your pain and pleasure right along with you. “I’ve hit my limit. I’m over these fuckers. I check in with Pigeon, and she’s just as disgusted with their behavior. She wraps a warm wing around me and flips them a taloned bird.”

While reading, I am so thankful that this is a really big book, that it will take hours upon hours to read, because I am enjoying this story so much I don’t want to give it up. As I read, my heart hurt and I grieved so deeply that its as if what was happening to Falon, was happening to me. I even sobbed in the shower at one time when I took a break from reading. Throughout all 3 books, I kept dreaming of the day when Falon would finally get back to her own world, and maybe her guys would follow and see who she was before they met her and be even more in awe of her. But when that finally does happen, when she is actually tricked into going back (by herself), I grieved again because she had just committed herself to live in the realm of her mates when she was torn from them. AGAIN. Oh, my heart! “Tears start to drip down my face. And I scream, my lament ripping out of my heart and soul. How could this happen? After everything I’ve been through, after everything I did to find my place, for it to all just end up like this? I shake my head, refusing to accept my circumstances.” What an epic ending… and a beginning. So thankful that there is a spinoff!

Oh man, this is a tough one.
I was really hopeful about this series when I first started. I loved the idea of the fmc being dropped into a whole new world, clueless, and mating left and right without even knowing it. And while it was fun, I kind of hated how rushed it all was. I mean, the fmc mated 3 different guys (unknowingly) while being caught in the middle of a war and found out she was fated to end an entire way of life for these people who actually hate her for bc of her bloodline.
Idk. I feel like it was an ambitious story, and I was here for it, until the beginning of this book, when I realized that it was almost over and yet the bulk of the story was about the men and her mate drama, and that there was no way that I'd get to see more development in the parts thag I wanted.

I loved the training she did in the books. But I hate when an author teases me with battles and war, and it all gets wrapped up with a bow in the end quickly without much of it coming to pass in the actual pages. The few fights scenes were really good, though.

I appreciated the separation between the fmc and the Gryphon she shifted into. I adored the banter between them. Although sometimes, I didn't care for how their wills didn't align, or how secrets were kept. It made the whole situation of them sharing a body... weird to me. But it was kool that it was different, in general.

Sadly, the mmcs didn't have a whole lot going on for them personality wise. I really wanted to like at least one of them, but every time I thought I could, the characters would kinda blur into each other.
Zeph was the token grumpy one... who at least got a few moments of depth because of his past. Ryn... idk, he was like the middle child - always acting like he would actually fight for the fmc but never actually trying hard enough. Caught between her and Zeph in the beginning and then becoming just "one of the mates" later. Then, we have Treno. The one guy who had a fantastic beginning and was betrayed by her so he acted like a jerk followed by completely fading into the background of the rest of the story, never to matter again. Blah.

I didn't realize that this series was sister stroy to The Lost and The Chosen when I started reading it.
In fact, it would have read much better if the random "Sentinel," bit was left out honestly. If I hadn't read the firat series, that's stuff would have made no sense to me bc it wasn't explained well, if at all.

All that said, I really liked the ending. I liked them going back to her world and it being set up for a third fmc.
I liked parts of this book and wasn't a fan of others obviously but I would recommend... if you've read the other series that is.

Frustrating

4⭐️ for the world story.
2⭐️ for the romance story.
3⭐️ for the characters journey.
1⭐️ for the FMC’s Gryphon.

Overall, approx 3⭐️. Won’t read again, but will check out the next instalment when available, hoping it will be more along the lines of World 1 series.

Sadly, my least liked character in this book, was the FMC’s Gryphon. It constantly has the upper hand, to the point of dis-like.
It can force the change either way, while the human is left begging and pleading.
It controls hormonal reactions, while the human is left manipulated and humiliated.
The very few times the human is forced to act out in a less likeable way, she is forced to apologise, and at times beg forgiveness. The Gryphon ‘never’ apologises, never has to face real consequences, never has to fully compromise.
Right up till the end, the FMC is pleading and being forced to deal with the Gryphon in a unequal way. Yes, the human has the greater amount of time, but only because of the world they live in, and those they interact with.
It’s all too obvious, if the Gryphons were in the majority, it would not be so willing to see her side of things.

It’s that interaction that seems prominent throughout the World2 series. The FMC is constantly trying to grow, learn, and adjust (where other characters are concerned), apologising, compromising her needs and desires. While those around her only do so when forced, or about to lose what they want.
Otherwise, she is expected to make all the changes.

Only Mate 3 ever truly apologises to her, and he’s the least guilty of them all.
Mate 2 gives some weak assed version of apology, but also justifies his actions, making the apology worthless to me.
Mate 3, who has the most to apologise and make amends for, never does. Even the Gryphon doesn’t hold him as accountable as the other 2 mates, despite him having hurt, humiliated, and rejected it the most.
I don’t get it?

It’s hugely unsatisfying, especially coming straight from World 1 series.

I ended up skimming much of this, just waning to get to the parts that resolved the world story issues. Trying to understand and find closure so I would be ready to move on to the next part.

Fully recommend World 1 series (though 1 of the books in it is a struggle), but can’t recommend this one, other than as a filler for whatever comes next.

3.5 ⭐
Book #3 of 3
(Final book with Falon as MC)

❗ Potential spoiler alert❗

☑️ Shifters: gryphon
☑️ Unknown heritage/culture
☑️ Different world / Gate travelling
🆗 Alpha males
☑️ Strong FMC
☑️ Enemies to lovers (kinda)
☑️🆗 RH
☑️🆗 Mates
🆗 Revolution against oppression
🆗⬇️ Fighting
🆗 Pace (a bit too fast and short)

***

When secrets came to light at the worst time possible, Falon sees her life put at risk.

There was no choice.

Their lives are connected.

And running away to safety is the first order of business.

So, Zeph, Ryn, Treno and Falon need to learn how to work together even though their relationship is none existent and hate and hurt run deep.

Especially when all the plans the Hidden had were crushed.

They need to start again.

They need help.

And maybe, they just have to find the Ouphe, the race responsible for enslaving the gryphons.

Notes:

These three books are quite fast paced, straight to the point and only focused on active scenes.

I felt it could have used a bit more context and background.

Not just skipping all the parts non essential to the main plot.

For me it needed more interactions between characters, establishing connections, trainings, learning, self doubt, romance, etc.

The romance part...
They solved it all without really showing how.
They were all angry with each other and then the guys were all working together to get Falon to give them a chance, saying they were going to prove to her they were serious. I didn't see much proving...

I also felt that Falon was a bit too much of a "special one". She had had little to no difficulty in this last book. Maybe because there were few filler scenes but it all felt that she could accomplish everything with ease. Basically no struggle when learning how to work her powers and marks.

Overall a nice story but it felt a bit empty of emotions and connections. It was mostly going from a key moment to another, like checking points.

Other book series in the same universe:

Appearance of the characters of Lost Sentinel.

As always my respect to the author.

Hit or miss?

Something about this series just didn’t do it for me. I think the world building between series is cool. I like that things are happening in tandem and all that but there are so many unanswered questions from both Sentinel series that I’m sure that the ball will drop and we won’t have answers to them all.
I also felt like the vow thing wasn’t explained well. They killed the Sentinels but some people still took the vow and a griffin was controlling them??? I don’t know maybe that is wrong. How do they get sentinel markings from the vow of the sentinels are either dead or in hiding??? Also did the sentinels kill “grumpy’s” family or was it Lazza’s family. Where Lazza, Ryn, Zeph, and Trent tortured by Treno’s parents??? That was mentioned at one point but never talked about again. I also felt like understanding what happens to the MC and her griffin is hard to follow. Sometimes I’m not sure who is leading and it was never explained why they aren’t one and the same. Why is her griffin separate from her but they are in the same body??? Ryn’s and Zeph’s aren’t like that but Treno’s is???? Also by the end of this series she reads so young. She whines a ton and is always so wrapped up in crying over something that it’s hard to take her serious in other parts. I felt like Vinna read like this as well so maybe it is just the way the author tries to write badass yet damaged females. I never really thought the MC was much of a badass to begin with and then when she started training and took to it so easily it just didn’t really feel like it fit the character.
So a quick series but lots of unanswered questions that we have to wait to find answers for and a few plot holes. Guess we are waiting for the next sentinel series but who knows how long that will be.
