They say envy is green. Not in my experience. It’s choosing violence over your conscience. It’s stabbing someone in the back to get ahead. It’s being willing to spill the blood of those you love to get what you want. So, no...envy isn’t green. It’s blood fucking red.
Whistles! Another suspenseful, deliciously gritty, intense and sexy story by this incredibly talented author. Her work is always intelligent and beautifully articulated. I am always consumed from the start. This story had me holding onto my melting panties all the way to the end. Grrr I need the next book now! I am dying for more.
The deception, violence and greed that shadow so many are vibrant and heady in this book. The build up and desire between Michael and Kat is to be savored. The brutal lengths to be taken and twists in the storyline kept me on edge in the best way. I read to be entertained - a break from reality. A powerful departure from rom-coms or contemporary stories is just what I needed to make me feel alive and invigorated. I could use a little of Kat's badass persona in my life.
This author always delivers an exquisite book. Her storylines are beautifully executed, characters well developed and multifaceted and I can't help but buckle in knowing I am in for a wild ride each and every time. Well done. Can't wait for more!
Oh my... Michael and Kat are 🔥HOT🔥. I am loving this start to their story. Michael wants all the drug & gun territory. We all know Valentina isn’t going to have it. We got a Cutter and our merry band of pirates sighting! Kat has a business opportunity, and she’s doing her best to make it happen with Michael. She is a puzzle, and so very confident. I want to know more about her. Michael comes off as kinda of a douche in the beginning, but we see him start to come around to her. Can I say I can’t wait to see him fall? I just can’t wait to get more of this story!
Envy, the next story into the Deadliest Sin series. Warning, you can read this book independently but to fully grasp everything that is going and who they are, you really need to read the Inland Seas series and the Wrath set of books from this series.
Micheal and Kat are hot and sexy! Micheal is a man trying to reclaim the respect and power his last name had once brought. Kat wants power and money, and she knows what to do to get it. This story does end in a big cliff hanger and I can’t wait for the future installments.
This author continues to amaze me with the depth and richness in the stories she tells. There is never a dull moment as we race to the break in the trilogy. I enjoyed reading how her characters from previous works played such a pivotal role in the lives of our current cast. Michael is a gangster trying to build his empire. Kat is a madam, who's influence could help him succeed. Will working together be the key or will something or someone stop them before they even get started? I am eagerly waiting for the next book!
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Well done
The Deadliest Sin series just took another deadly turn! I was literally sucked into this next book featuring Michael and Kat. Michael is working hard to bring respect back to the Syla family name, and Kat might just have the answer to his problems. Kat is full of mystery, and she's stone cold and tough as nails, yet sexy and alluring. She's entering a dangerous game, and it's all Michael can do to keep up with her. But what happens next? This book ends on a total nail biter, and I'm now dying to know what happens next!
Well dang! Gwyn you have sucked me in and omg I need more! Fair warning this books ends in a cliffy but dang it is worth the read and wait because I reread this hotness over and over again while I wait!
Micheal and Kat are explosive in every way! Their chemistry is off the charts! Not only that but I’m definitely invested in figuring out what’s going to happen and who is behind what!
Envy is book four of The Deadliest Sin series and as always Gwyn McNamee's writing pulled me into the story and left me wanting more. If you have read the first three books in this series then you know how intense, suspenseful, dark, steamy and after that big cliffhanger, I can't wait to read the next book in this series. From the well developed characters to the unexpected twists this book is a definite must read. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
I'm not even sure where to begin. Envy is just the beginning of this segment/installment of the Deadliest Sins series, so there are currently more questions than answers right now. Since it is the Deadliest Sins, don't expect sunshine and rainbows because these people don't have much in the way of morals. They live by their own code and honor. I look forward to the continuing story for Envy, because I want answers dangit!
Envy is the fourth book of The Deadliest Sin Series. Even though you can read it as a stand-alone, it has characters from the Inland Seas series and the Wrath books. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. The chemistry is hot and steamy. The story is so full of suspense it had me on the edge of my seat. I can't wait for the next book. It can't come fast enough. Get yours today.
wow i just loved this book! he is a bad man and will do anything to get the power and money. only some want him dead. you must read to find out what happens. it will leave you hanging and wanting more.
Love Kat and Michael. The chemistry is hot and so steamy. I was sucked in from the start and couldn’t put this down. Their story is intense, full of suspense, and I can’t wait to see what’s coming down the road. I received a copy of this book.
***I have just finished all three books. To fully understand the true underlying story in this trilogy you MUST read the Wrath trilogy. That wasn't clear until I read Enduring Envy and I would have missed the significance of what was happening if I hadn't read the Wrath series. If you haven't read Wrath series you will be significantly missing out on the true genius of this story. ***
Now boys and girls, today's Deadliest Sin is Envy.
"They say envy lives and breathes in your soul. That it eats away at you like a cancer, latching onto your vital organs. A disease you can't see or feel but one that will destroy you, nonetheless." ~ Envy
Michael our main character sure does covet, envy, you name it...everything that is not his. He is so full of envy that he is almost bursting at the seams with it. Then Kat walks into his life, the woman that seems to hold all the answers to getting him what he desires/envy's...or maybe she could be his downfall. I HAVE NO IDEA! Why, because this ended on a doozy of a cliffy!
I didn't realize, before starting, that another series sort of intertwines. Technically standalones, I feel like it would have meant more if I read Book 2 of the Inland seas (Rogue Wave). I read book 1 so I recognized the character names.
You won't be lost if you have not read any of the Inland seas books but I absolutely recommend reading Books 1-3 of the deadliest sins books (wrath, after wrath, surviving wrath).
This was a really good introduction to a new set of characters that will be the focus of the Envy books. I feel bad for Micheal at this point. Wanting things and trying to work for them but still kind of coming up short. Warning this ends on a cliffhanger and has triggering topics.
Gwyn McNamee’s Envy is a raw, intense dive into the darker corners of human ambition and desire. Far from the clichés of envy being “green,” McNamee redefines it as a relentless, blood-red force driving people to betray, fight, and sacrifice even those closest to them. The narrative pulls no punches, wrapping the reader in a world where violence and conscience clash at every turn. McNamee’s prose is sharp and visceral, painting envy as a double-edged sword that cuts through loyalty and love alike. This gripping tale explores how far one is willing to go to get what they want, leaving readers both captivated and unsettled.
If you’re ready for a story where morality bends and the stakes are life or death, Envy will keep you hooked from the first page to the last.
In the previous books we are briefly introduced to Lorenc's brother, Michael Syla.
Envy speaks to Michael and Kat's story. Michael is an up and coming mobster who is trying to stake his claim to territory after the death of The Dragon.
Michael meets Kat after she strolls into his office. Kat is a madame and proposed that she and Michael embark on a business adventure. He, however, cannot keep his hands off the woman! He still remains suspicious of her motives.
The book ends with a cliff hanger...Buckle up readers and be prepared to dive into the next book.
This story continues from Wrath Series. Michael has taken over The Dragon's spot. He meets Kat who wants to help him while running her business. We see some characters from Inland Seas Series. Yes it ends on a cliffy . Mobs mafia oh my!
I love the tangled web of this extended story and getting to know the different parties from all sides! It's truly and enlightening! I didn't expect that ending and cannot wait for the next in the Envy trilogy!
I enjoyed Envy, I just found it very hard to like Michael. It didn’t help that I already disliked him because of Lorenc, but he’s also quite an unlikeable arse! Diving straight into Bleeding Envy
Envy is green, red is blood. And the beginning of this part of the series is golden. Truly! I believe this had quite the intense start without fizzling out and the way the author writes really makes you feel that intensity. With how well these books are written, you should be feeling a deadly sin lurk underneath your own surface! Not to mention each book being fairly short, so a quick read! Onto Part 2, Book 2!!
Envy is the first novella in the Envy Trilogy of the Deadliest Sin Series (#4) by Gwyn McNamee. A series of novellas about five organized crime families, starting in Philadelphia - moving into Chicago and how the seven deadly sins consume their lives.
“This stalemate has to end. It’s going to end today.”
Following the tragedy in the previous trilogy - Gwyn gives us a whole list of new characters that add depth and dimension to the existing storyline. The build up and hot desire between Michael, who is trying to reclaim the Syla name, and Kat, who just might have the answers he needs. Beware of cliff hanger.. this one is a doozy!
“But sometimes in this business, you do things you don’t want to in order to get what you need.”
Gwyn does a great job throughout The Deadliest Sin Series with plotting, character development, and pacing while continuously keeping us on our toes and begging for more.
