DAVID HOPPER is, as has been said of others in academia, not the kind of doctor who can do you any good. By day, he is a university professor, privileged to work with the whole gamut, from impressionable college freshmen to seasoned grad students. He teaches face-to-face, online, and in study abroad settings around the world.

Tiptoeing the fine line between "Renaissance Man" and chaos, Dave's other loves are composing and making music, writing the Great American Novel, traveling, woodworking, and housebuilding.

A product of two cultures (rural Alabama and small town Michigan), Dave's writing reflects his life-long interest in understanding the quirks and hidden depths of local culture, set against the universal themes of human interaction. To date, this has been through historical fiction. Projects in other genres (science fiction, contemporary fiction, and even romantic comedy) are in the works.

Dave lives with his wife in the woods of rural Michigan.
