I cannot believe I am one book closer to the end of this series.
Transfigured takes Kress and her Conspiracy on a journey to find captured Juvens before they are weaponized. We get to see the effects the emergent ability are having on Kress and her friends, and I am starting to wonder if they will survive their abilities.
As with the previous book, I found myself scanning over the detailed descriptions of the landmarks and country side, although it does play a significant role during one section of the book.
I’m looking forward to the final book and seeing the entire journey come full circle.
So many questions are still unanswered.

I think this is the first book that acknowledges the Conspiracy’s, and especially Kress’s, feelings of having the weight of the world on their shoulders. The feeling of wanting to rest and live a quiet life while struggling to know if there’s really anything left to save, but not wanting to let down people depending on them. All while being teenagers, just kids. This is made even more apparent with Roxane and is so important to the entire series.
We learn more about where Emergents come from and about the Valta, why Krug attacked it. It conceals the Emergents Academy that has technology to identify, create or corrupt Emergents. A factory that can either create global contagion or universal cure. It seems that children can inherit abilities as well. But I also have a ton more questions. What is up with Manthy? We’re nightmares in each other’s dreams and just need to wake up?? “They’re like us, they’re transfigured.” Meaning?? Ugh.
Then there’s all the different factions and characters to keep track of. Emergents. Hypnogogics. Scroungers. Hawkers. Writhers. The Execs. Banters. Branwynne and the twins of London. Roxane of Bordeaux. The Valencia 5 and the Valta 8. It can be a bit confusing, but the books also do a great job of casually reminding you who’s who.
The complex themes continue to expand with hints of our current affairs. Automation has made people expendable. The wealthy has essentially put the opposition into concentration camps. Keeping some of them alive allows them to feel superior over a group and just in their reasonings. Automation has turned the poor into slaves for the wealthy, and at the mercy of machines, which have none. It makes cruelty easy. ”Humans would be a redundancy at best and a threat at worst.”
Over all, I enjoyed this installment more than some others. There was a lot of action and new characters with less tediousness of theorems. My biggest complaints is the timeline, which didn’t seem to line up. They were given 11 days to get to Valencia, but the message was old, cutting it down to 5 days. It took several days to get down to France and then they spent over a week in the time warp town of Bordeaux. So based on that timeline, their window has come and gone? It all seems to work out in the end though.
Obviously with a cliffhanger and a missing team including Kella, Wisp, Lucid, Reverie, Mayla and War, I have to keep going. “Manthy is our hope for better things to come.”

Non-stop Page-turner!!
If you haven’t read the first 7 books in this 9 part series, this is a sign to go do that! I SO enjoyed this one! It may even be my favorite, however, the first one is still near and dear to my heart! Each book delves further into what it means to be Emergent and beyond. As far as I understand, an emergent is someone who has advanced to the next stage of human evolution - and has gained a special ability or way about themselves that sets them apart. Genetically, it’s just so much more. It can be confusing, especially the scientific/technical parts of it, and I want to understand all of the things! However, some thing you just have to take as fact and go with it! This book answered some of my questions, but then left some large question marks in others! There is SO MUCH in this particular book, and I read it super fast, as it was very difficult to put down!! I will probably read this series again (yes, it’s THAT good!) to catch the things I didn’t pay enough attention to.
Anybody ages 12 or 13 and up would enjoy these books. There is a lot of descriptive fighting with quite a bit of blood and death. If this is a trigger, then maybe pick a different series! I hope u can enjoy it as much as I did!

The Transcendent trilogy book 2.
Kress and her friends set off to Spain to find the remaining Emergents.
I enjoyed this book; it was as entertaining as always.
My only reservation, as before, lies with the story getting more and more far-fetched.
I found the recovery mission way too easy, and therefore implausible.
However, the ending has a really interesting twist that offers great promise for the final book. I can't wait to read it.

Not sure why, it was harder for me to get into this book. So many changes and new characters!
The English accent issue I felt with the previous book got better (the way the English accent was written was difficult to understand), and this time it was clear that some of that writing was on purpose as even the characters did not understand.
I felt that although it was action packed, it was mainly a book that advanced the storyline

New Lands To Explore & Action At Every Turn!!:-)
SUPER FUN and EXCITING to travel with the Conspiracy to far off lands and with a serious mission!! The characters’ bonds and understandings of themselves grow even deeper and more truths are revealed!!:-). And TONS of new and FABULOUS friends to meet along the way!! LOVED IT!!:-)

If you've enjoyed the series thus far, this will be an incredible read. I loved every minute of it and cannot wait for the finale!! K.A. Riley is one of the best writers I've ever had the privilege to read.

Still reading halfway through and fuming ,to make londonderry Cockley to the point of not being able to understand them and every other country speaks normally is disgusting. Also if I hear marvie one more time I'm going to scream.pnlu finishing the series because I'm on book 8

a bit slow
This one was a bit slower than the rest. It seemed discombobulated at best. It all came together, but I found my mind wandering and I would put the book down to do other things. I did not experience the same with the previous books in this series.

I would give this one 2.5 stars. It was a little better then the first one in this trilogy but the ending was very disappointing. The whole mission was stupid for that conclusion. Also why are all the European peoples names so weird?

Entertaining overall. Not a five star because it didn’t give me the feels like I expect a second to last book of a series to do. I still find some of the “resolutions” in the story to feel cheap (like no one had to really work for it) in place of good character development.
