Live a Joyous Sober Life

I have read several books by this author, and I always appreciate his frankness and honesty about his addiction issues and sobriety. This has to be his most joyous book, and it is a delight to read. Because the author sees himself through the lens of sobriety, his books are similarly focused. But this one, more than any of the other ones I've read of his, could actually be for anyone, whether you consider yourself an addict or not. The author defines sobertude in the introduction as developing an attitude of gratitude in sobriety. In this book he offers 50 sobertude habits, which are small and large ways to be more grateful, more responsible, more joyous, or more open to abundance. Each of the 50 sobertudes is 2- to 3-pages long with an action plan at the end. The author states that you should read one or two per day and determine if or how you want to apply them to your life. The topics of these sobertudes range from big ideas like seeking inspiration and nourishing your soul to smaller ideas like simply laughing or being polite. The sobertudes cover finances, your physical body, your emotional state, and even your soul and spirit. In all honesty, this is a beautiful book with fantastic suggestions about how to lead a more positive and awesome life. If you are currently sober or are working towards that goal, you may find this to be a helpful book for a brighter path forward.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
