🐾 A luxury island. A reality show. A missing persons case. What could go wrong?
Life was purrfect. I had my favorite couch spot, my daily kibble, great friends, and the best human a cat could ask for. In other words: bliss.
And that’s exactly when trouble hit—by way of the wildly popular reality show Passion Island. Not only did the entire Poole family (and their cats—minus me, of course) become obsessed, but five of its contestants had recently vanished without a trace.
So off Odelia went—undercover—to Thailand, joining the cast to uncover the truth. And because Odelia is Odelia, she insisted that Dooley and I tag along. (Not that I had much of a choice—I mean, she does control the kibble supply.)
Before I knew it, we were knee-deep in smooth-talking seducers, a mysterious scar-faced spy, and—worst of all—a relationship crisis between Odelia and Chase that threatened to derail their wedding! 😱 Good thing Grandma Muffin and Scarlett showed up to help. Or… was it?
📺 Lights. Camera. Murder. Will we crack the case before the next contestant disappears? Or will Odelia’s cover be blown before the final rose is even handed out?
Nic has a background in political science and before being struck by the writing bug worked odd jobs around the world (including but not limited to massage therapist in Mexico, gardener in Italy, restaurant manager in India, and Berlitz teacher in Belgium).
When he’s not writing he enjoys curling up with a good (comic) book, watching British crime dramas, French comedies or Nancy Meyers movies, sampling pastry (apple cake!), pasta and chocolate (preferably the dark variety), twisting himself into a pretzel doing morning yoga, going for a run, and spoiling his big red tomcat Tommy.
He lives with his wife (and aforementioned cat) in a small village smack dab in the middle of absolutely nowhere and is probably writing his next ‘Mysteries of Max’ book right now.
Passion Island reality show and Odelia is a hit. Trouble in the TropicsThere comes a time in every cat's life when he feels he's got it made. And it may surprise you that I was just such a cat. I had my sweet spot on the couch, I had my daily dose of kibble, I had my health, friends and the best human a cat can find. In other words: bliss. And of course that's when tragedy struck in the form of Passion Island. The reality show didn't just upset our lives by its sheer popularity, finding amongst its most avid fans the entire Poole family and its cats (minus myself, of course), but also because five of its contestants, all women, had recently gone missing. So off Odelia went, to Thailand, undercover as one of the show's contestants, along with Chase. And Odelia wouldn't be Odelia if she didn't insist Dooley and I tag along. I wasn't happy about it, but what could I do? It's hard to say no to the woman who pays for your kibble and provides a roof over your head. Soon we were up to our eyeballs in seducers and seductresses, mysterious scarfaced men spying on our human, and even a relationship crisis between Odelia and Chase that threatened to derail their upcoming nuptials. Good thing Gran and Scarlett were also there. Or was it?
Chase & Odelia find reality tv is far from real life when Kimmy, assistant on the show, Passion Island, is worried about some former contestants. They seem to have disappeared although their families get emails, supposedly from them. Passion Island separates couples on two islands near Thailand. The men & women have no contact but do have seducers trying to woo them into bed. Max & Dooley are content to stay home with Gran. However, Gran, an extreme fan of Passion Island, is desperate to go. None of them get their wish. Max & Dooley are whisked off to Thailand while diva Harriet & her Brutus stay with Gran. That was the plan but the best laid plans seldom survive Gran. Somehow she & her frenemy, Scarlett, show up as seductresses on the men's island along with Harriet & Brutus. Can Odelia & Chase discover why former contestants are missing & can they resist the seducers when their every move is being filmed? I liked this Max story particularly because the felines discover how much they miss being apart
In some books, Max and the kitty team play a more involved role and in others less. I think that is part of what holds my interest. That and the variety of tales. This story seemed to be a relatively short story with less character development than usual. That was fine since the others characters won't be playing long term roles. I always enjoy Nic Saint writing style so I would have been just as happy if it had played out a little more. I WAS glad that gran and Scarlett didn't get more involved as seductresses though. My saving grace is I already have the next story to go to!
Obelisk, Chase, Max, Dooley, Gran and Scarlett as well as Harriet and Brutus windup on the reality show Passion Island investigating the disappearance of five former contestants. Wonderful story, thoroughly engaging. Gran and company are at their best.
There isn't a lot more I can say about this series. It is phenomenal! I totally enjoy every one. Dooley is my favorite car cuz he's so sweet natured. All the story lines are very entertaining. Most of the time I finish each book in a single setting. This is a fantastic series for all cat lovers! Can't wait for book # 24!!!!
Odelia finds herself on her most dangerous mystery yet - with Chase on a reality show designed to tempt couples apart - trying to find some kidnapped former contestants. Gran and Scarlett as seductresses just add to the mayhem. Fun read.
Mix filming a reality show, finding missing women, eluding seducers, then add talking cats. An entertaining mystery very original. Plus laugh-out-loud funny episodes, and enjoy!
I'm addicted to this series and sincerely hope that Nice Saint keeps writing more in the series. For anybody who loves their pets and wish they could communicate like Odelia does with her cats, this is the perfect series.
This book was interesting, making a trip to Thailand and catching a bad guy made for an interesting cat story. But this time the cats weren’t the wiser about who was involved.
