In the middle of a crowded bar in our small Alaskan town, my estranged wife snuggles up to me as if we’re still a happy couple.

Don’t get me wrong, we were a happy couple—before she walked out on me a year ago. We were the high school sweethearts everyone thought were destined to be together forever. We thought so too, which is why we married shortly after graduation.

We had a good marriage. Until she left me without any real explanation.

Now, she’s back—and this is the real kicker—she has amnesia and thinks I’m still her husband. Technically I am, although the divorce papers are sitting at the lawyer’s office.

She’s desperate to remember her life in Sunrise Bay but I only want to find out why she left me. Once we conjure that memory up, it’s sayonara because there’s no second chances here. But as you probably already figured out, things didn’t go quite as I planned.

My Almost Ex is a second chance romance between two childhood friends-to-lovers in Piper Rayne’s brand-new, small-town family series, The Greene Family. Coming April 6, 2021.

My Almost Ex is a amnesia, second chance romance set in a small town. It has all the right ingridient to make it work. The lenght is just enough to keep me entertain.

I recently liking the romance trope of amnesia romance. I found some books about it that really good and heart breaking. Miss Rayne made My Almost Ex milder. There is drama but she keeps it light and just enough to keep me interested.

What I do not like is there is too much secondary characters here. Some I do not feel contribute to the story at all. Just to make more confuse keeping track with who is who in the family.

A Tear-Jerker, Gorgeous 2nd Chance, Amnesia Romance With a Great Family, Confusion, Quest of Truth, Love, Laughs, Feels, Chances, Care, Hope & HEA.
I Detoured from other ARCs for this, I've been Excited for Adam+Lucy's Story so much! Love'em, Great seeing Greene Family again & DEVOURED this in 6hrs.
(I KNEW there was a Good reason of why Lucy had Left Adam previously! Not 'cause she didn't love him anymore, but as She DOES.)

Adam Greene; Caring & Charismatic; is a Forest Ranger & the 2nd Youngest Greene Brother. We saw how much he was hurting in the 1st book after Lucy Left him without a reason a year ago. But he'd Started Moving on...Then Lucy Came back.
Lucy; Lovely & Curious; has Amnesia Due a horse Accident 3 months ago. She'd come to town (along with her mom whom she remembers) to trigger memories & it does: Of Adam. But she thinks they're still happily Married (She's soon told that's not the case!).

Loving Never Stopped. Does the Leaving matter if the reason is not even remembered?
Adam's kinda mean to her (Of course) but he doesn't like seeing her hurt. When it's proved that her mom isn't really gonna help in gaining her memory back, Adam (& Fam) Come forth. Forgiveness is starting, So is Acceptance.
~The Meet, Remembrance, Memories, Info Quest, Tourist Season, The Night Met, Hating yet Loving, Meddling Grandmas, New Colours, The Help, No Divorce, Old Me-New Me, Fun Talkshow, Run-Ins, Break up, Feel the Love, Home, Bachelor's Spring Cleaning, The Party...

These two were Childhood, Friends-to-Lovers (As we find from Lucy's Memory Flashes!). Soulmates. This love that never died is Worth giving a chance.
The Sexual Tension is Hot as Ever.. As Lucy discovers her newself (More Open!); Adam & Lucy grow Close. Adam's cautious, not wanting to Be hurt again, but letting her in was inevitable. Lucy wanted to Remember the reason She left so that Adam can get Closure. Does this time together has a timeline?

“I want to fight for us.”
But Soon that didn't matter anymore. Adam's ready to give "Us" a chance, No way is he letting her go again. They're Forever. If the reason she left comes again? They'll handle it together.
~New Start, No Regrets & Acceptance, Journels, Time Passes, Enjoying, Habits, School (Lucy was a teacher!), Meeting A's Parents (Wedding Memory!), Four-Wheeling, Clearing the Air, Fighting for "Us", Sexy times *Hot!*, Together again, Drawing Nights, Honesty *Yay!!*...

So their Relationship is Strong again, but there's no way we'll be left hanging by not finding why she left...& we Find!! Plus, this time there's no Running😍.
It wasn't a flash of memory, but her own smartness that led her to Finding the reason. A Normal day ending with a Life-Changing Revelation.
~Happily Living, Periods & Doc Visits, Truths, No Running, Understanding & Loving, Her mom making amends, Cute Puppies, Proposal...!

"Life without Lucy is more horrid than anything."
Now Lucy understood why the Old Lucy left. But She's not gonna leave but Face it head-on. & I'm so happy They talked it out (So Emotional)! I really hope they get everything they want❤, They deserve it. & Though they're still married, Adam's proposal at end is so Swoony!! Cue HEA!

Her mom hated the Greene Family, but I liked that she finally moved on from that. I can't believe Adam had Given-up so much to be with Lucy & Doesn't regret anything, he's the best! & Lucy's perfect for him❤. She may never remember fully but they'll make better new memories together! The epilogue & Bonus were AWESOME😍.
I'm so excited for Nikki's Book, like oooh..! What a teaser!

Book starts with the almost ex wife turning up with amnesia.
Family feuding and interference.
Dual POV.
Flashback scenes to childhood together, then sweethearts. Then the split.

No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine but see below spoilers.

During separation the heroine hasn't dated.
The Hero has just barely started dating.
He is with other woman at the bar when the almost ex turns up.

'I drove Alicia home and she tried to lure me into her house by palming my d*** through my pants. Sadly, nothing happened, not even a chub—the consequences of having your estranged wife show back up in town is limp d*** apparently.'

So although neither had been with anyone else, would the hubby have had sex with other woman if he could have?
It's not said but I felt he let her touch him.
So up to the reader to decide how safe that is for them.

The heroine is trying to remember, all she remembers is he's her husband.
They meet up, he's trying to protect himself from being hurt again so is reluctant to get involved with her, he says he will help her so they can find closure.
He walks away from her answers his phone and says '“Hey, baby,” he answers and climbs into his truck.'. It's actually his step sister on the phone.
I act distracted and not fazed at all that he uses some generic term of endearment for the new girl in his life as a memory resurfaces.'

Then he meets the other woman in the diner to tell her he wants to help his wife get her memory back then he's not sure what will happen, possibly he will resume with the other woman.
'She bends down and presses her lips to mine, her tongue sliding into my mouth. It takes me by surprise after the conversation we just had, so I’m slow on the uptake. I put my hand on her shoulder to push her away, but she breaks the kiss off first.
“Have a nice life, Adam,” she whispers. “And f*** you.”'
The wife then approaches so she saw.

The reason she left.
She found out she had fertility issues so left him as he wanted loads of kids.
She fell off a horse got amnesia so didn't remember why she left until 75-80%.

HEA.

Epilogue sets up next book.

I am such an idiot. I've been loving this series and I was so excited to read this book after seeing what a mess Adam had been in the previous book. But for some reason once this hit my kindle I was dreading reading it. Second chance romance can be so unpredictable, someone, somehow has messed up and now they are reconciling but there is still this cloud of the past. Plus, as mentioned Adam was a mess so I kind of hated Lucy on principle.

Then she rocks up with amnesia and still thinks she is happily married to Adam. Not that he had made a lot of progress on the road to recovery, but he had finally picked himself up. That leaves us with so many questions. And no one has the answer because of a fluke accident. Seriously I didn't even know where they were going to start.

But it's Piper Rayne and they nailed it. Adam was beautiful, everything about that man was perfect. And honestly as much as I didn't want to like Lucy, she warmed up to me and I ended up loving her. I guessed the reason for her leaving pretty early and personally it pissed me off. But not enough to ruin the story and with the way it was written I kind of got over it.

The bombshell at the end is super exciting. I am so glad these lovely ladies can pump out these books fast because I am dying to read that book.

It was a beautiful, simple, slightly bittersweet story about the second chance. The idea behind it was brilliant!
The main heroine lost her memory and didn’t know why she left her husband. So we got a story about them reconnecting and building their marriage from the scratch with the mystery “why” hanging above their heads. Highly recommend!

2.5-3🌟

I'm big fan of the Bailey's series, that's literally one of my favorites ever but I can't seem to connect with this series the same. I think one of the problem is that it feels too simular, with the same tropes.

Here we have the amnesia trope/fertillity issues which we already read in the Baileys series so it felt a lot like repetition.
All this things aside I just couldn't connect with the h here. If you read the previous book you already know that Adam was too depressed because his wife of 6 years who was his high school swertheart left him without any particular reason. So in this book Lucy comes back with no memories whatsoever because of a head injury which resulted in amnesia. And honestly I know that she didn't have memories but I didn't like how pushy she was to Adam when everyone told her how she hurt him when she left. Then when the real reason was revealed that she found out that she may not be able to have children, without discussing this with him, she hurt him and left him I was definitely not liking her at all😂. She didn't even apologized for that and Adam forgave her wayyy to quickly for my taste. He was a real sweetheart but a little too good and forgiving.

Safety: they were separated but not divorced and he was seeing another girl but didn't have sex with her and the h was also celibate. They were each other's firsts.

Even though I didn't like this as much as the first book, I'm excited about Nikki's book. I have high hopes for that one.🤞

What happens when the love of your life walks out on you without any explanation and the comes back a year later acting as if nothing has changed? Well, that's the premise we have here with Adam and Lucy's story, and, what a story it is.

Lucy and Adam have a long history together and I mean LONG and I loved discovering all of their memorable times together from the age of thirteen up to the time she left as Lucy herself discovered them in flashes as she regained some memories she lost with her amnesia.

This story had a few poignant moments the one that was especially moving was the one where she discovered the reason on why she left Adam to begin with. I will be honest and say not only did I cry at this point but I totally understood what she felt and her reasoning behind what she did from personal experience.

I loved that we had so much time with Thelma and Louise aka Grandma Ethel and Dori in this book, those two ladies are a HOOT!

If you enjoy Second Chance at First Love Romances, Steamy Contemporary Romance, Small Town Romance, or Large Family Romances I would highly recommend this book to you.

Happy Reading!!!

Second Chance with Amnesia

Amnesia is the trope for many romances and this one is just okay. She left him because she thought he'd be better off without her and I really hate that trope. When one person makes the decision for both. And then She got amnesia too boot so she forgot she left him. Her husband was moving on and had a hot new girlfriend but he still supposedly loves her. I just don't know. The book just left me feeling empty. Even with his large gregarious family, it just felt flat to me. I love books with big families. And they were still married and it has been a year since they split up. So technically he was dating while married. He said all they did was kiss but it still bothered me a bit. She left him I know so I let it go in the plot and finished the book. I would give this author another try too for sure. Too many characters confused me a little. The next book sounds good about his sister marrying an MMA fighter. In Vegas. Might need to try that next.

My Almost Ex was the second book in the Greene Family series by the authors Piper Rayne. The series was a spinoff from their Bailey series; however, it was not necessary to have read the original series first.

I loved everything about Adam Greene. I was hesitant going into this book because Lucy broke Adam. He was devastated in book one, My Beautiful Neighbor, and I couldn’t imagine how I would like him with Lucy again. But then the authors laid it all out and how could I not learn to love Lucy as well. Kudos, I totally loved them both!

As expected from these authors, it was well written, well developed, sexy, steamy, humorous and packed full of life lessons. And I absolutely loved the sibling bantering and loyalty. They also set the stage for the next book in the series, My Vegas Groom, and it has promise to be just as exciting and explosive as we’ve come to expect. Bring on Nikki!

Oh Adam and Lucy...I adore you two! My Almost Ex by Piper Rayne is emotional, heartfelt, and steamy. I loved everything about the high school sweetheart, second chance romance. This is book 2 in The Greene Family Series.

Adam and Lucy have been together since their teenage years. They married young and have had a deep love for each other always. However Lucy had a tragic accident that left her with amnesia, and she is slowly trying to piece back together all the parts of her past that she has forgotten. Adam and Lucy have a lot of tough challenges to overcome, mainly being the reason she chose to leave Adam, right before she had the accident. The road to this HEA took my heart on an crazy ride, but I loved every second of it.

Jacob Morgan and Virginia Rose narrate the is audio. This may have been my first time hearing this narrator pairing together, and I really enjoyed it. Virginia did a fantastic job conveying Lucy's pain and love in her performance. Jacob also was great with showcasing Adam's hurt and hesitancy to love Lucy again.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and audio from Piper Rayne. I look forward to more!

I absolutely LOVE books with the heroine suffering from amnesia. A good author can take this dilemma in so many different directions and if done properly, the author has the ability to grip the reader to the story. I appreciated the way Ms. Rayne told the story of Lucy losing her memory and the journey she traveled to try and regain her past with Adam. There is an underlying mystery as to the past year of Lucy's life and why she left to begin with.

Sorry...can't explain any more or I will be giving away the story.

I think I just read the BEST Piper Rayne book yet!!
OMG!

I need to process just a little bit - but all, the Greene’s are giving the Bailey’s a run for craziest and amazing family stories.

This books brings steamy steamy steam, a sort of second chance, and tears. You will need tissues for this one.

Okay. Off to get my coffee and let the book hangover roll through.

This book ❤️❤️❤️

Amnesia, second-chance, young love/soulmates, marriage in trouble, family and friends dynamic, small-town. Whoa, I like these tropes!

Realistic couple and believable second-chance. They took time, bared their hearts, and really talked their issues and problems except those that Lucy(h) couldn't remember.

I liked that Adam(H) loved the new Lucy and even helped h explore her new tastes and interests. H was understandably reluctant at first but he remained supportive of h till the end.

As for the reason h left, I think it went on a bit too long for my liking. That was a big plot and I would've enjoyed this more if it came to light around 60% and if h actually remembered it; not just another info she gathered from other people. I mean, she already remembered some important memories. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Most amnesiac MCs wiped tragic/traumatic events from their minds. But most of them fully recover their memories by the end of the book.
I know that people cope differently, but as a reader, I prefer for my amnesiac MCs to fully recover their memories EXCEPT if the brain triggered the amnesia to protect the MC from breaking cuz of extreme/severe/dark/horrific abuse, like this h named Am .

So IMO, for this book to end without Lucy's complete memory recovery was quite too much.
Where did she stay after she left H and before she arrived in Idaho? She mentioned that her mom told her that she spent months somewhere before Idaho.
How was her life before the accident?
Did she work? Met new friends? New hobby perhaps? I bet she had plenty of time on her hands.

The writing duo Piper Rayne starts The Greene Family series off on a high note with My Almost Ex. When Adam Greene’s almost ex-wife walks into a bar and right up to his side and snuggles in he doesn’t know what to think, after almost a year of mourning the loss of his marriage and the women he’s loved over a decade, Lucy is back and believe they are still married. Falling off a horse and hitting her head, she has amnesia but being in Sunrise Bay seems to be sparking memories and he knows despite the fact he’s just started dating someone, he needs to help her for better or worse and he knows if she returns to Idaho with her mother, they might not ever figure out why she left in the first place.

Oh my gosh, I loved this book and I’ll admit I wasn’t sure I would since I’ve read romances before in the troupe and they really did nothing for me, but I have to hand it to these ladies there wasn’t an easy fix, this couple had to built a trust again, the heroine had to learn who she now was, and the hero had to reconcile the woman who left with the one now in front of him.

There was no doubt that Adam was depressed after Lucy left and that it took him a long time and lots of Motown to get him through (and a couple of strong but loving lectures), but when she walks in like nothing happened he’s angry and hurt yet he still feels compassion for the woman he’s loved since he was thirteen years old.

Being back in Sunrise Bay, Lucy is overwhelmed at the memories that are bombarding her and finding out that she left her husband who she now remembers loving since her teens. She’s confused as to why she left and she knows that finding out is key to them being able to put the past year behind them and move on provided Adam will give her that chance. She feels her mother hasn’t been straight with her and as things come to light, she begins to realize that while she’s the same person she’s changed and she just hopes that Adam will still love her.

There were family shenanigans which is to be expected in a family the size of Adam’s, but it wasn’t mean-spirited and it was evident they all cared for Lucy very much despite what had happened the year before. Lucy, unfortunately, didn’t have a family that was all that supportive and quite frankly her mother seemed a bit vindictive, but thankfully the Greene family was happy to help support her.

I loved watching Lucy discover things about herself that make her reassess her previous actions and question the kind of person she was and the kind of person she wanted to be. The fact that Adam made it clear he loved all parts of her even if she was different let her flourish and find her way. I give Adam a lot of credit for letting go of his anger and admitting that despite what happened he would never love anyone the way he loves Lucy. Through it all, they learned that communication was key to helping them sort out the past and move towards a new and better future. My one complaint, I wanted to know more about the time between Lucy leaving Adam and turning up in Idaho because I’m a nosy b*tch that way.

I was hooked from the first page to the last; I could not set My Almost Ex down. Twists and turns interspersed with laughter, friendship, passion, and love made this book an excellent read and if it is indicative of the series, readers are in for a wild ride.

This book was short and sweet, and I don't have too many thoughts on it. I like the small town, big family vibes that Piper Rayne always brings. I loved her Baileys series and I think I will love this series too. They're all sweet and cute books that don't take too much effort to get through.

And I'm out.

this is a marriage in trouble/amnesia romance.

this was my first amnesia romance, and i liked it! for some reason, she left him but now that she has amnesia she doesn't understand why 'old Lucy' left the man she loves.
they make a deal that if in 2 months he still hates her she'll sign the divorce.

i hated the reason why she left , but besides that, i love seeing them fall in love again.

I liked Adam in the past book because he lost his wife (not knowing why) and is lost/miserable in his life. He's the park ranger... and Lucy "His wife" come back with amnesia. She had an accident and doesn't remember she wanted a divorce.

I enjoyed the struggle these two navigate. You know they have underlying love, and you can't help rooting for them!

**Great narration
**Small town
**Second chance
**Childhood friends to marriage to possible divorce
**Chemistry

Piper Rayne’s interconnected Bailey series was one of my favourites of 2020, so hearing the Greene family from the next town over were getting the same treatment had me so excited, especially after the hints we got in the last Bailey book. I was also so excited to see Dori and Ethel, the meddling Grandma’s matchmaking skills all over again! My Almost Ex is Adam Greene’s story, and the ultimate second chance romance plot!

Adam is finally ready to move on from his childhood sweetheart Lucy unexpectedly left him a year ago. So, when he’s on his first date with a new woman, the last thing he expects to happen is Lucy to walk into the brewery and straight up to him, as if she never left. Turns out Lucy has amnesia, and can’t remember anything about their past, good and bad. Adam is distraught, he’s still in love with Lucy but promises himself nothing can happen again, as she left him so broken. But Lucy needs to know more about who she used to be, and Adam volunteers to help, mainly to discover the reason why she left him out of the blue. But the more Lucy learns about her old self, the more she realises she’s not the person anymore, and that her and Adam have the opportunity to start fresh? Will Lucy ever regain her memory, and will Adam ever forgive Lucy for her past actions?

In My Beautiful Neighbour, Adam was suffering from a broken heart and I just wanted to help him heal, so after the bombshell ending of Lucy’s return, I was so angry on his behalf, and wanted Lucy to provide a pretty good reason for pulling a disappearing act. But throughout this story, you got to know Lucy, and I loved how Piper let you discover more and more about her as she did, it was almost like you were learning about her character at the same time as she was. When they both get the answers, they both desperately craved, whilst shocking and emotional, suddenly everything made sense and Piper’s writing was beautiful.

Adam, whilst angry at Lucy’s return, puts himself into horrible situations to see if it will provide any memories to come rushing back, which is how you know it’s obvious still loves her. He tried his hardest to avoid his remaining feelings for her, pushing her away and keeping her at arm’s length, just desperate for some form of closure so he could move on, but Lucy is adamant that whatever made her leave was a mistake and that they are meant to be. His family giving him the push to help Lucy so they could both get the answers they need was so typical of the Greene’s, even though we’ve only known them for one book prior to this, I love the family dynamic.

Lucy’s character was strange, because I loved the new version of her, but the more we learnt about who she used to be, there were certain parts of her old personality I know I wouldn’t have clicked with. It was amazing how she knew the minute she saw Adam that he was her soulmate and she needed to fix it. How she kept testing out everything to see what she now liked was so fun, because she could have a second chance a discovering her favourite things, and I liked how she eventually shed the shadow of her old self and just embraced the new.

The introduction to this new Alaskan small-town romance series was everything I wanted and more. I will say it was well worth reading My Twist of Fortune, the short novella that tells the story of how the Greene’s family was formed before starting the Greene series, because it sets up the Greene family dynamic perfectly, introducing you to the blended family. I adored how each of the Greene’s siblings’ personalities were glimpsed at, giving you hints at to what they are like and who they may end up with. I have even started making predictions about future couples from this series, and after the bombshell in the epilogue, I can’t wait for Nikki’s book next. Such an amazing second book in this new series from Piper Rayne, I already know it’s going to be another collection of characters I am going to fall in love with.

5 Sterne

ADAM AND LUCY!

I loved this story so much. After finishing My Beautiful Neighbor I could not wait for Adam and Lucy’s story. I have to be honest though and say I was REALLY nervous about Lucy. Adam was absolutely shattered and heart broken about his wife leaving him in the first book but I just knew there had to be a good reason for it. BUT I was in NO WAY prepared for the emotional journey this book would take me on. Yes it is typical Piper Rayne with their laugh out loud antics, especially once Dori and Ethel stick their noses in but the connection and reconnection of this couple was so beautiful and really touched my heart.

Lucy is suffering from amnesia and comes back to Sunrise Bay ready to reclaim her memories and life, but it isn’t going to be as easy and seamless as she thinks. Lucy is a really sweet girl, with a meddling mother and is genuinely confused and trying to find her footing in life after her accident. She not only wants to remember who she was but also who she is now. I really felt for her.

Adam is an amazing guy. Fiercely loyal. Although Adam wanted to protect his heart from being hurt again, his love for Lucy is so big that he easily puts his heart aside to help her regain her memories.

I loved reading the flashback scenes just as much as I loved reading the present scenes. Piper Rayne transitioned these seamlessly and kept me invested in their whole story.

I am quickly falling hard for the Greene family just as I had the Bailey’s, and I love that Sunrise Bay is a neighboring town of Lake Starlight and we get a few cameos of our beloved Bailey’s in this series too.

I cannot wait for the next Nikki Greene’s story in My Vegas Groom.

The second installment of The Greene Family definitely gave me soap opera vibes in the best of ways.

Lucy left Adam a year before, with no reason or contact since her departure. When he's starting to finally recover from losing her she waltzes right back into his life as if nothing had ever happened. Turns out, for her, nothing has. During a horseback riding accident Lucy lost all her memories up until she married her high school sweetheart. Now the two of them must work together to uncover the all that she's lost and possibly figure out why she left him in the first place.

The ending wasn't exactly what I expected but just what the two of them needed. If you're looking for a sweet mystery with a little spice, you've come to the right place. I loved that we were able to experience her memories coming back in real time, and come to love their relationship while also appreciating how much she had changed since her accident.

Come for the mystery stay for the beautiful love story and meddling grandmas.

This was such a good book! Much more emotional than I expected. 🥺 The central ‘mystery’ was well-constructed, and there were mild thriller vibes. I was dying to know why Lucy left, almost as much as Lucy and Adam were… probably one of the best ways I’ve seen the amnesia trope used in a romance.

Lucy and Adam’s relationship also had a lot of depth to it, so much love and angst and yearning. I loved both characters and how they were really open about their feelings towards each other. Adam was understandably a little closed off to begin with, but he was kind of otherwise perfect. I was really invested in them finding their way back to each other.

I listened to this as audiobook and both narrators were great (Jacob Morgan is always a standout).
