A Kiss at Midnight

Rate this book

New Year’s Eve is not complete without a midnight kiss.

Unfortunately, for Kayla, she’s at her company New Year’s Eve party — dateless.

After the party she ends up in an empty elevator with her co-worker, Ben, and she gets her kiss.

So cute, alittle office romance. I enjoyed this 🥰 Ben was a good guy, direct, and had jokes.
Kayla head strong, assertive and worried about her coworkers thoughts on her own happiness.
It was the dates, flowers and grand gesture for me.
Will definitely to check out more from this author🥰❤️🫶🏾

The kiss worth waiting for

Oh to be a menalinated woman in corporate America. Kayla tried her hardest to just work with Ben and get the campaign completed. But the growing attraction between Kayla and Ben continued to grow as they were visiting venues. If only Chris had not had an in office breakup, maybe Kayla would have been open to exploring more with Ben romantically sooner.

Good

This was a cute short story. Funny how Ben caught feelings first and I enjoyed this couple. Short but sweet.

I stumbled upon this read and was pleasantly surprised. I’m new to this author, but will try to check out some of her other titles. This was a quick read with a good plot. I wasn’t sure I was going to like Ben based the first night I’m the hotel, but I guess when he explained to Kayla that he was confident instead of cocky, he was spot on. He was more layered than I originally thought, and he ended up being my favorite character.

New 2 me author

Pleasant holiday surprise. One kiss. One night. One drawn out coutship or not. Kayla had no room in her life to be in an ofgice romance. She just wanted her midnight kiss. She got mote. Ben was not sure he was up for more thzn just one night. That was until he could not get Kayla off the brain.

Enjoyed the writing, the characters, the venues, the declaration.

DNF at 20%

There is not enough chemistry between Ben and Kayla for me to believe the way they went from 0 to 60 after a few seconds of riding the elevator together. His interactions have a whiff of workplace sexual harassment to them. This is the second book I’ve DNFed by this author so it’s safe to say they’re not a good fit for me.

Content notes: microaggression, alcohol, excessive drinking, on page sex, anti-fat bias

*Love it or Leighve it* (aka cleaning out my Kindle)

I enjoyed Ben & Kayla's story. I loved how they had the hands on approach and took their project seriously. Their sexual chemistry was evident. I liked the journey that they took to make things official. I liked how Kayla expressed how Ben wasn't even an option because she automatically put Ben in the colleague bucket. I liked how dominant Ben was in the bedroom but super reserved at work. I really liked this story!

I dont think she would have given him a chance any other time. She was lonely and wanted company. She liked him enough but still followed the workplace rules. She followed her heart instead and finally found her happy for a chang.

Sometimes the best things aren’t planned

Kayla lived her life planned out and it worked professionally but not so much personally. Ben lived his life close to the vest, which also wasn’t working for him personally. Working together and failing in love wasn’t part of the plan but the best things are often not planned.

The characters are not well characterized at all. They are both all over the place and inconsistent. Her "hung ups" don't make sense and they both act way younger than they are. The sex scenes are not in keeping with the rest. The tension feels manufactured and unnecessary. The premise was fine but it went downhill from there.

Kayla and Ben

I loved Kayla and Ben’s love story. Who would have know a colleague would soon become your boo. I loved them together and even though Kayla was playing hard to get due to her not wanting her coworkers to know what was up, but I’m glad Ben was persistent in getting his girl. He was definitely BAE. This was a great read.

Office romance

Ben and Kayla's story was cute. Their work assignment allowed them to make their own personal Hallmark movie. It also pushes them into each other arms. They are going to have a mature office romance because they are really smitten over each other.

I enjoyed this read. I'm looking forward to Mr. Dupree's boys.

Office Romance

I like how Ben and Kayla unexpectedly hooked up and the attraction that they had to each other after the fact. I love how Alpha male he was in the bedroom with his demands.

Well well

Kayla and Ben🔥💥 Chris and Gabby were hilarious. Fate has a way of stepping in and blocking what you think is your perfect match. The one you want may not be the one you need.

Amazing

This book had all of my favorites black love, funny moments, and an exciting story. I am not usually into novellas but the author was able to build the characters with few words. Great love story.

Cute office romance

The cute office romance had me thinking that sometimes you have let go and move out your own way to be happy. The author pulled that thought throughout the book. You will enjoy the journey

The Kiss

The kiss Kayla and Ben shared at midnight would begin their relationship journey. I enjoyed their story and the way the story flowed effortlessly. An excellent tale.

A Kiss at Midnight

The chemistry between Ben and Kayla was off the chain. Kayla had a valid point about keeping things a secret but once love arrives it's nearly impossible.

2.5 stars. Maybe it's workplace romances that don't work for me, but I also found the characters to be bland

What we all want is to go into the new year with something to look forward to but that is hard to do when you are on your own at a work sponsored event. Kayla is in that place and then she shares a kiss with Ben, her co-worker. The kiss is the catalyst. The promise of something they might not have considered. Kayla and Ben were a good couple.
