The pre-eminent medium of popular art is the print, which can bring knowledge, pleasure and new values to millions of people never reached by the museum or gallery painter. Some of history's greatest artists - Durer, Daumier, Toulouse-Lautrec, Hokusai - were popular printmakers. Four original silk screen subjects, prepared and supervised by Jean Charlot, were printed together, trimmed apart so that one example could be bound in as a frontispiece in each copy of this book.
