I truly enjoyed this book. My first impression was that it might be a quick read, a routine love story by the title. But, wow, was I (happily) wrong! As I continued delving deeper into the storyline, I found myself captivated, challenged, and taken aback a few times by the intriguing and unpredictable twists. The author has the reader believing from the start that when Julia meets and falls in love with the somewhat mysterious Seth and becomes his soulmate, the relationship will be full of carefree love and predictability. Soon after their relationship begins however, Seth’s past follows him and causes havoc, uprooting Julia’s conventional and safe life. Eventually she’s on the run and into hiding-from the mob as well as the unknown. Can she help save the man she loves-will she solve the puzzle in time-and will their love survive? These are only a few of the questions you will be asking as you read this mesmerizing story. Fortunately, the author answers them all in a very satisfying way.

“Marriage is for others— the lawyers, the children, the parents. A soul mate, that’s just for the couple, no one else.” (Page 78).

Julia was always helping her twin brother out, as he was constantly biting off more than he could chew, but the tables turn when his roommate turns out to be the best thing Julia could have found: her soul mate. Seth is everything Julia wasn’t even looking for and they fall in love almost instantly. Then, just as suddenly as their meeting and their romance, he is killed. It wasn’t an accident and neither was his more wild twin brother showing up in Julia’s life after Seth’s passing an accident.

The characters struck me as peculiar, as if the setting was Europe or England or maybe Seth just seemed like he was from a different culture. His personality and actions were very stiff and different from a familiar character or known “American” personality. In this difference, he was kind of an enigma and mysterious and more distant as a person.

The dialogue also seemed a bit peculiar. It was stiff and formal most of the time and stood out to me.

The idea of soul mate as Lockner has made it is just that, an idea and to build a whole novel around that one concept didn’t work out entirely well, in my opinion. The story lacked something. They’ve only known each other four months! And dated for less! How can you love someone without even truly knowing them? It’s instalove, but the wooing takes a couple of weeks. Then the I Love You’s come pouring forth.

The sibling connection was much more interesting to me than the soul mate connection – philosphically/spiritually speaking according to how Lockner described it.

I did very much enjoy the story telling aspect of the novel and how Lockner described everything and the environment she placed her characters into.

This was confusing not confusing kind of a read but all in a good feeling kind of way....

The beginning you meet Julia and Seth. Seth is quiet and very private but he manages to open a little. Then, together they fall quickly in love. Okay, this is where I was like HUH that was quick. Then after that, everything changed. Now your wondering WTF, really and its only chapter ??? but then HELLLLOOO you're like 'cliffy' and BAM......Simon appears and from there everything from the beginning falls into place till the very ending.

The book is about SOUL MATES really and you will love it. Like me, you will. I just liked how Julia, Seth, Simon and Mark connects. So, it might feel a little confusing but this definitely is worth the 4.5WHOOPING STARS. But who knows maybe there is another book to this or not.

This novel was so beyond twisted in my mind. I really had a hard time adapting to all the sudden changes and emotions. At the start of the novel I found it completely boring and was going to give up reading it but I pushed on. It was just okay for me and barely that.

A few years ago I read Heart of Africa by Loren Lockner. It left an impression so when I saw another of her books appear on Amazon I read the synopsis. The synopsis had such an unlikely scenario but I remember how well Lockner writes and decided to give it a try. In the hands of a less talented author the storyline about a deceased man, Seth, in limbo trying to message his beloved Julia would have fallen flat. But here it works and was surprisingly entertaining. It holds true that it is the telling of the story and the composition of the storyline that makes the story, no matter the genre who doesn’t love a good story. I don’t like to retell the plot, which many reviewers do. The themes are varied and complex: a death, a surprising sibling, a new attraction, and the twist of the main character encountering a similar death at the hands of the mob. To enrich the plot are elements of the human condition that are enticing and inviting: grieving, new interest/attraction, fear, trust, to name a few. I really enjoyed this well-crafted combination love story and mystery.

Love Never Dies is a mixture of paranormal, romance, and suspense and it kept me wanting to read more. I love what Loren did with the concept of soulmates, creating a brand new view on the concept that makes the characters love connection seem stronger because of what they must do to make that true connection, and the love between Julia and Seth is heartwarming. This story is unpredictable, and Loren clearly has a vast imagination. Just when you think you have figured out what's coming next, another curveball is thrown out and you find yourself holding your breathe, waiting to find out how the characters will react and rooting for them.

Wow! Definately 5 stars!

I don't normally read romance books. But I have to say I'm glad I have this one a go, I couldn't put it down! I was quite fond of Julia, through everything she fought for the man she loved. Seth is mysterious with a past that haunts him and soon catches up with him. The twists are unpredictable and it certainly keep you on the edge of the seat.
This isn't your standard love story, this is something so much more!

When Seth dies in a car accident, Julia is distraught. His ghost returns, she thinks, to haunt her as he waits in limbo for her. When his twin brother, whom Simon never liked appears, he tells her that Seth was murdered and that she is the next intended target. But can she trust Simon? Full of twists and turns.

I’m sorry, I just can’t read on. The dialogue is excruciating and the story drags.

A man, telling a couple and his girlfriend about his parents having sex and what happened when they climaxed?

Really?

Honestly?

This is my first of Loren Lockner books. I'm very impressed. The story revolves around two powerful characters - Julia and Simon. You don't know what to expect, because this is more than a romantic novel. The mystery continues throughout the plot, for it leaves the reader equally guessing whether the guy involved is the hero or villain.

The conversations is heart felt and strikes an emotional chord. The romance is equally exciting and beautiful - sometimes relatable and sometimes deceptive.

Although the book is less than 400 pages, it is of right length. The writing style is vivid and we are caught in the action as Simon and Julia take us to different places.

The best part of the story is Seth's past baggage. The confusions of the protagonist is amusingly described when Julia says 'Scars fade with time, but not how I feel about you' and Simon asks confused 'Or Seth?'. As the end draws near, we have no idea who is Seth vs Simon. Brilliantly conveyed and impressive climax. Please don't read the last few chapters, wait for it.

Highly recommended, I already bought more of Loren's novels.

Loren does an effective job of making a particular situation look one way, only to discover there is much more to it than what the reader originally thought. I enjoy books that have the power to change your opinion of the characters and plot elements as you go along. Wonderfully written with a great deal of character details.

LOVED this book! I am a total sucker for a good and twisted "love story" but this book offers way more than. You get the Mob, brother drama, ghosts/spirits, death, mystery, loss and hope.

I commend Lockner for her wild imagination and ability to keep the readers engaged. Great Job!!
I look forward to reading more of her work and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.

Awesome Sauce!
Jump in your convertible, top down, go find the twistiest, curviest road around and go fast. I read Love Never Dies in two sessions, knowing I was hooked when the first of many twists and turns, catapulted me headlong into the far recesses of the story. Without notice, you find yourself warming to the tenderness of the characters, cheering them on in pursuit of romance, before being left breathless, as their circumstances abruptly change. A good fireside read.
