How do we persevere in hard times? When platitudes and “positive thinking” fail us, God gives us lasting hope through his Word. This sustaining certainty is based not on our state of mind but on the security of God’s character expressed consistently and reliably through his promises. In this 31 day devotional, John Crotts brings hope to the hearts of troubled Christians by showing how God’s power, plans, and care offer substantive hope for every kind of trial and failure.
In the 31 Day Devotionals for Life series, biblical counselors and Bible teachers guide you through Scripture passages that speak to specific situations or struggles, helping you to apply God’s Word to your life in practical ways day after day.
This is a beautiful encouraging little book. Daily readings are short, but applicable. John Crotts does a masterful job of squeezing in a lot of encouragement for the weary and worried into a small package. Must read!
Absolutely loved this one. I found it deeply encouraging and want to give it another re-read already. Each day you will be reading a lesson on hope either through a study of God's character, a difficult circumstance, or a story from Scripture. I was encouraged and I believe you will be too. Go on! Read it.
Solid devotional that I read through with my coworkers. Good to start each day with the theme of Hope. Some of them were a little intense or strongly stated, but overall very encouraging to the soul.
I really enjoyed having this book as a companion study during daily devotions. Super short chapters full of truth. I also loved the reflection thoughts and action steps at the end.. I found them to be very convicting and gave me something to mull over for the day.
I’ve read several of the books in the 31-Day Devotional series, and this one is definitely the most broad in its topic, while still being rich and helpful theologically. The author points the reader again and again to biblical hope in Christ both now and in the life to come. Because it is so much more broad than other books in this series, I think this book would make a great gift to give to just about any friend (in fact I’ve given it out twice already).
