Kissing her best friend on a dare wasn't in Abigail’s plans. Especially not in a linen closet on the last night of summer break. What started as an ordinary sleepover was suddenly the beginning of a romance neither of them saw coming. But the devastating tragedy that followed… tore them apart before they ever began.
Rhett’s life changed in the blink of an eye. One moment he was ready to charge the halls the first day of high school, hand-in-hand with his dream girl. And then the next moment, his heart was ripping into pieces. The one person capable of healing it… disappeared without a trace.
Years later, Abigail and Rhett are back under each other’s noses, testing the possibility of a new friendship. When buried feelings from the past arise, Rhett is forced with a choice. Happily accept Abigail’s friendship… or fight to win back his dream girl’s heart before it’s too late. Because this time, he might just be playing for keeps.
Halston Hart is a new romance author who loves to write sweet romance with a pinch of heat. She builds an imaginary world that captures you and wraps you into the lives of characters where you won't be able to put the book down. She loves a good happy ending.
She had big dreams from an early age to become a writer. It started with her writing in notebooks, making short stories up in her head, and writing on little pieces of paper she had on hand. Thank goodness for cell phones and having the chance to type out ideas!
Halston Hart is from the state of Louisiana. Born and raised in the cultured city of New Orleans, the place known for great food, history and the parties!
Halston can't wait to continue this journey as an author while fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a published writer.

I really enjoyed this lil book. It was a quick read with intriguing relationships, and written with just the right amount of steamy encounters. I sincerely wanted the ending, but wouldn't have minded different choices. As a debut novel, I am definitely impressed. I will be waiting for more.
First book I've read by this author, it drew me in quick and I wanted to know their story. The characters made me cry, feel their heart break and laugh.
If New Adult, second chance romance, angst, and love triangles are your jam, pick up For Keeps by Halston Hart! While the tropes aren't original, this story that Hart wrote, has her own unique twist to these tropes. I have been in a major book slump for the past few months and this book was one I didn't want to put down! Even if these tropes aren't your jam, I urge you to read For Keeps! I am looking forward to more from Mrs. Hart
[0.5 star] book completely lack substance to the point of being shit. the first few started out in the past, then came the three years later which the hero and heroine reunited again. however, just 5 chapters after the "threee years later", it fast forward to one year later, which was like wtf!!?? what the hell happen in that "one year"? the author just decided to skip it?
also, the characters just pisses me off especially the heroine. she got together with the hero's cousin, and she was happy, planning to move in with him etc. and when her boyfriend decide to propose, the hero decided to tell her his feelings AND the book started spiraling to shit from there.
after the hero declare his feelings to her, she was confuse and told her boyfriend that they need a break since he is also travelling out of town for work. and she went to look for the hero to kind of sort of her feelings, BUT end up sleeping with him. after sleeping with the hero, she felt even more confused, she flew to find her boyfriend to confess what she did and found out he had slept with his assistant. the most ridiculous thing is SHE GOT PISSED!!!! like can you believe she got pissed when she did the exact same thing with the hero?? so she keep bouncing between these two men like she is toying with them. even if she has experienced the one after another death of her parents, her way of doing things is not an excuse.
you do not need to waste your time on this book. it wasted about one hour plus of my time to finish reading it and an additional ten minutes to write this lengthy review. 0.5 star is awarded for the beautiful book cover, book does not deserve any star.

I really enjoyed this book. I'm usually not a fan of triangles and steer clear, but the plot of this story was original. I definitely can appreciate that. As far as characters go.. I was rooting for Rhett from the start, even though he was a big blind fool for so long. But seeing him open his eyes was something I definitely fell for and made me want more of that soft sweet side of him. His and Abigail's pull to each other was beyond doubt, but watching the journey made the story and compelled me come back for more.
Abigail and Rhett have been friends for the longest time. After a tragic accident, Abigail leaves everything behind to find herself. 3 years later Rhett and Abigail reunite. Can Rhett come to grips with his feelings for Abigail before it is too late, or will the other guy win her heart?
All of Halston’s books I have read so far have been nice quick reads and I have liked them a lot. In this story Abigail must choose between two guys, her best friend or the guy she has been seeing, both of whom she loves. This book was a whirlwind rooting for one guy while not wanting the other to be left devastated. I have got to say that this line killed me in the book…. “Becca, my entire life I wished to find the perfect person to spend the rest of my life with and now since Scarlett Johansen is taken by that dork Colin…” He winks at her. “I figured you will do.” @halstonhart #friendstolovers #lovetriangle #quickread #romancebooks #bookstagram #forkeeps #halstonhart
Halston Hart can write!! Right from the start Hart pulled me in with her wit and humor. Like everyone else, I immediately had major heart eyes for Abagail and Rhett. I enjoyed seeing how their love grew throughout the story somehow always finding their way back to each other. I’ve personally never been a fan of love triangles or miscommunication tropes but Hart adds her own little twist that makes this story shine. There were a few moments that I found the main characters a bit childish and hypocritical BUT seeing how the characters overcame their grief and fears all while growing and finding themselves made it all worth it in the end. Also we ALL need a friend like Becca and Travis on our side. I would LOVE to see their story unfold. Overall this was a quick read that I flew through in one sitting. Despite the characters fear and confusion I think everything worked out perfectly in the end. I can’t wait to dive into Hart’s next story!
