Holiness for All: Themes from St Thérèse of Lisieux

Rate this book
This is a book of substance, quality and depth. It is to be read and pondered slowly and prayerfully. True to its title, Holiness For All, it reaffirms the teaching of Vatican II on the universal call to holiness. It offers us deep insights into many of the major themes in the writings of St Thérèse, as seen through the eyes of an author captivated by her deep spirituality – something he is eager to share with others.

Many books have been written about Thérèse. But this is one that allows the saint to speak for herself, unimpeded, in her own inspired words and images. It is an inestimable gift to all who wish to reflect on her teachings quietly and prayerfully, allowing her message to take root in a heart open to be led by Thérèse into her secret of holiness.

To savour this book is to embark on a marvellous voyage of discovery from the first stirrings of God’s grace in the soul of Thérèse as she searches to surrender herself unreservedly, in her own unique way, to the boundless mercy of God – through the darkness of her ‘night of faith’ to her final transformation in love. It is reassuring to know that we travel in the company of this most recent Doctor of the Church and one who has rightly been called by Pope Pius X ‘the greatest saint of modern times’.
