Willow Anderson was born and raised in west Texas where she learned early on to gaze at the stars and dream. She knew her life would eventually lead her to picking up a pen and letting her creativity flow. After leaving childhood behind, Willow found she was ready to explore away from the desert and left her small town behind. Soon after, she earned her RN initials behind her name but continued to do what she loved - writing. It wasn't long until she met her current husband and brought him into her life for good. Now she travels wherever the Army takes her. Though she still keeps hold of her colorful imagination, she now has two teenagers and a pre-teen to help her imagination continue to thrive. Willow is the author of the upcoming Pandemonium series that is available exclusively on Amazon. She writes YA fantasy and sometimes dabbles in the romance world.
im surprised this book has been kept quiet and gone so unnoticed.
its fun, its mysterious, and it has that magical showmanship quality that i have been missing since ‘caraval’ and ‘the night circus.’ i really enjoyed the exciting displays of competition and the secretive atmosphere of the story.
my only minor critique would be the overall uselessness of the MC, which sounds a bit harsh. lol. but it honestly seems as if she relies on nearly every other person to figure things out. theres a lot of other characters telling her what to do but not explaining why, so its a little frustrating and unfulfilling for the reader to always feel in the dark, like the MC.
but overall, this completely scratched my circus/carnival itch and was fully entertaining.
When you are asked to do a review on a Fantasy book, but you typically don’t gravitate to this “type” of novel...what do you do?! If you’re me, you buckle your seatbelt because you love a good challenge! It’s even better when you conquer the genre that is most difficult for you and you end up with a new book to add to your list of favorites.
Think of “The Greatest Showman” but DARKER. Combine the best parts of “ The Night Circus” and “Caraval” and you’ll only see but a glimpse of what is in store for you at “Pandemonium.”
Twelve-year old Lace Ashburn is ecstatic when she and her family attend the magical traveling show known as Pandemonium for her very first time. However, what she expects to take her breath away is the ooohs and aaahs that occur on stage, but instead she stands gasping; staring at a dead man. The Ringmaster couldn’t be gone, right? Murdered by some scoundrel in front of her very eyes? Certainly this must be part of the show. But, alas it is not and her first experience of magic is tainted by tragedy. As quick as the show was there, it is gone, but not before Lace snatches a memento.
But, the show must go on and Lace continues to live her life whilst still remembering the events that took place that ruinous day. If she had thought it would be the last that she would see of this exhibition she couldn’t be more wrong.
When disaster strikes her family head-on there is little time for her brother to prepare to take the throne of Falhaven and both Lace and her sister Victoria are appalled at how quickly Erik’s behavior starts to change. For with great power comes selfishness and control.
Forced into a new world full of grief and into a relationship that she doesn’t want—just when she thinks it couldn’t possibly get worse, her brother announces that Pandemonium is coming to town once again. It will be magnificent he claims, but she knows better.
“If only she could find a hidden door that would lead her away from the future she had been latched to. If she could, she wouldn’t hesitate to take the plunge no matter the cost.” Soon her prayers are answered, when either by chance or pre-determined ill will Lace finds herself as part of the show, but is she just a pawn in this new Ringmaster’s devilish game?
Would you conquer your ultimate fears in order to win your biggest wish?
“In order to win, you must lose it all...”
Welcome to chaos. Prepare yourself for death-defying acts, gowns so elegant that performers are afraid to touch, mysterious clues and hidden faces — a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat. But, above all else, enchantment like you’ve never seen it before.
“The lights dimmed around the tent and silence followed. The show was beginning.”
Bravo Willow Anderson. I patiently await the sequel “Catalyst” that comes out October 01, 2020. 👏 🎪
I'm so glad I stumbled upon this little gem. The story is so intriguing, it kept me engaged the whole time. I loved the circus/carnival vibes, with a touch of dark mystery. I absolutely loved the plot and characters. Can't wait for book two!
Wow!!! Guess who stayed up until 3am last night binge reading this book? Yup guilty. Thank you so much for the author sending me a free e-book copy of this book, I devoured it.
It was so thrilling, mysterious, seductive, dark, intense, mesmerizing! As you all know, I am head over heels for twisted, morally gray and seductive characters, which this book delivers on point with the Ring Master. Oh I can still picture his seductive stance and mysterious glances in my mind just typing about him. Not many books succeed in making me feel this way towards a character, and Willow Anderson delivered it and more!
The story reads fast paced, full of intriguing plot twists and alluring riddles for the reader to solve alongside the main character. I for one am addicted to love triangles, specially when they make you unsure of which love interest you like more, at the end I was cheering for both to win her heart and I knew my heart would be utterly crushed since only one could be victor.
The bond between sisters is elaborated perfectly in such a realistic and enjoyable way that I felt instantly connected to their friendship. It made me long for a sister such as Victoria myself.
The author was able to leave us small clues throughout the story to hint at the ultimate villain, not enough for us to guess their identity, but enough for us to have that lucid incredible sense of nostalgic remembrance at each reference throughout the story once their identity was finally revealed at the end. I absolutely love feeling like "How did I not see it before?" once the villain is revealed.
Will I be reading book 2? YES!!!! A thousand times yes.
Wow! What a wild and thrilling ride! Reading this book makes the circus sound dark and sexy! I was hooked immediately!! Looking forward to reading the second book.
I am so glad that I came across this book on bookstagram! I was initially attracted to the cover, and then I read the synopsis and became intrigued. I picked up a copy on Amazon, and I have no regrets. This book was amazing! It was super hard to put down, and I just wanted to keep reading. If you are a fan of Caraval, The Night Circus, or Forest of Stars, I think you will definitely enjoy this debut. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the beautiful descriptive writing from Willow. The outfits that Lace wore sound to die for, and the places she visits are just magical.
The story follows Lace Ashburn, who is only twelve years old when she witnesses a murder at the Pandemonium magical traveling show. The Ringmaster is killed and the killer imprisoned, so the show packed up and disappeared for five years.
Lace’s brother Robert steps up to take the throne of Falhaven (oh yeah, Lace is a princess!) and announces the return of the show and the betrothal of Lace to their neighboring country’s prince. With only a week of freedom from her betrothed, Lace finds her way back to Pandemonium. There’s now a new Ringmaster and Lace is pulled into a competition with a prize at the end that she is desperate to win. She is paired with a mysterious partner for the competition, and she finds herself torn between her political duties, and her want for freedom. Lace is lucky to have her little sister Victoria, and friend Lucille at the palace, as things become quite sinister.
A book that is filled with mystery, mayhem, and magic, this is a debut that you won’t want to miss! It is available now, and the sequel Catalyst is forthcoming.
Come one, come all, to the BOOK that will enthrall! Oh! My! God! I absolutely loved this story. Recently I’ve read a spate of circus themed books, and I can honestly say this is one of my top favourites. The tale follows Lace, a girl who witnesses a horrific murder on her first trip to see the legendary Pandemonium circus. Five years later, after her parents meet a similar end, she finds herself pulled into a battle between political duty and her desire for freedom. See Lace is a princess, and in order to save their country from the brink of war, her brother Robert, the soon-to-be king, has sold her hand in marriage to an opposing ruler. Just as all seems hopeless, Pandemonium returns for a special performance, and Lace becomes caught in a whirlwind of magic, mystery, and darkness, with the chance to win a prize that could change her fate forever… Pandemonium is a YA fantasy, from debut author Willow Anderson, that promises mystery, wonder, magic, whimsy, romance, political intrigue, and more twists and turns than you can toss a top hat at!
A Magical Array: . The Spectacular Show – like I said at the top of this review, I’ve read a looooot of circus books this year and let me tell you, a surprising amount of them do very little actual circusing. Not so with this book. I loved seeing a combination of recognisable acts we all know and love, mixed in with the fun new elements created. YES. GIVE ME ALL THE CIRCUS. . The Gilded Attire – I want to own everything Lace wears in the book. That is all. Dresses, corsets, fishnet tights, masks. Hell yes, sign me up. I’m ready to strut my stuff. . The Miraculous Powers – I adored all the different bits of magic we got to see throughout. My particular favourite was the Deck of Divination, and the enigma it still presents. . The Artist’s Stage – The setting of this book? C’est magnifique. I have no words. I just wanted to jump between the pages and explore all of it. Every single building within Pandemonium’s grounds was like an epic topsy-turvy labyrinth, and exactly the kind of shenanigans I want to read about.
Your Destiny Awaits: . The Budding Romance – I loved the little hints we got so far with and Lace, but oh I’m chomping at the bit for more, more, more. To be honest, I’m not fussy who she romances with, I just need ma smooches. . The Family Matters – On a similar note, I loved the relationship between Lace and Victoria, but can’t wait to see even more in future books, . The Fire’s Temptress – Alice. I love her. I want more of her. That is all.
All in all, a total rollercoaster ride of fun and adventure from start to finish, and a STRONG 4/4.5 star read for me. If you haven’t already added this one to your TBR, get on it!

This book is an absolute rip off of Stephanie Garber's Caraval. I haven't even read it, but reading the synopsis is enough to see that it's a cheap imitation. Plus, I've had friends who read it and said it was like "the K-mart checkout version of Caraval."
So, let's just take a look at the synopsis and break it down, shall we? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lace Ashburn was only twelve years old when she witnessed a murder behind Pandemonium’s grandeur – a strange, magical traveling show where admittance is hard to gain. Strange, magical traveling show where admittance is hard to gain. Legend's show Caraval was a traveling magical show and admittance was highly coveted and hard to get.
With a dead Ringmaster and his murderer in jail, Pandemonium packed up and fled in the middle of the night, remaining missing for five years. After Legend was accused of murdering a woman, Caraval stopped traveling for several years.
When Lace’s older brother steps up to take the throne of Falhaven, he announces not only the return of Pandemonium but an arranged marriage for her with their neighboring country's prince. In Caraval Scarlett has an arranged marriage to a count whose identity she doesn't know and who lives in a neighboring city.
With less than a week to discover a way to keep her freedom from her fiancé, Lace finds her way back into the heart of Pandemonium. Scarlett ends up competing in Caraval to win freedom for herself and her sister.
With a new Ringmaster heading Pandemonium, Lace is pulled into a competition run by the strange show with an invaluable prize at the end should she win. The prize for Caraval is one wish - an invaluable prize for the winner.
Paired together with a mysterious partner, Lace fights through the contest to keep not only her independence but her heart safe. Scarlett makes an unlikely ally in Julian, though he remains mysterious and his motives aren't clear. Scarlett begins to develop feelings for him.
Come one, come all, to the show that will enthrall...welcome to Pandemonium where in order to win, you must lose it all. "Welcome welcome to Caraval... What happens beyond this gate may frighten or excite you, but don’t let any of it trick you. We will try to convince you it’s real, but all of it is a performance. A world built of make-believe. So while we want you to get swept away, be careful of being swept too far away." <--- direct quote from Caraval
I think I can now safely say - after not being particularly enamoured by The Night Circus and also DNF'ing Caraval - that books about a magical circus are just not my thing.
But even if they had been my thing, I doubt I would've enjoyed this. The writing style isn't that good, the book definitely needed a better editor and there's absolutely no worldbuilding whatsoever. The characters constantly got on my nerves and the show within Pandemonium never made sense to me. It's supposed to be an all-night spectacle of chaos and magic, yet they only seem to have a handful of acts and they consist of trapeze, juggling swords, fire-eating, etc. How is that enough to fill an entire night?
I was also bored out of my mind. The only good thing about this book is the cover design.
I was immediately intrigued when Willow Anderson reached out to me and asked if I would like a copy of her book! From the synopsis, it sounded like a mix between fantasy, murder mystery and a traveling magic show, all of which, are extreme interests of mine. Pandemonium did not disappoint and I’m so thankful for being given the opportunity to read this amazing story!
From the very first page of this book I found myself completely enthralled and curious and couldn’t put it down. I sat down all day reading until I couldn’t anymore! Pandemonium was mysterious, magical and enthralling, I just couldn’t put it down.
There were riddles and clues and facts that were sprinkled throughout for us but ultimately I was still shocked by the twist the story took and couldn’t help looking back at the clues to see how I missed it! Everything was well thought out and perfectly executed.
The bond that that two sisters shared was really enjoyable and I loved watching their relationship grow even with the strain they were under. The love they share was so real and relatable since I have a sister myself and understand.
This was a excellent and fast paced read. There was the perfect amount of detail with there being plenty to understand what is going on and what the world looked like but not too much where I would get caught up and lose focus. Pandemonium had the most perfect pacing for me.
Also, one last thing, I NEED Lace’s red or silver dress or at least fan art of it. I’m a sucker for pretty ball gowns! Lol
P.S. did I mention there’s a morally grey character? We know we’re all suckers for a good morally grey character.
For fans of: Caraval, magic, mystery, romance, beautiful gowns and a mesmerizing world
*** EDITING MY REVIEW BECAUSE ITS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THIS BOOK IS A BLATANT COPY OF CARAVAL AND I WILL NOT HELP PROMOTE PLAGIARISM****
This is an epic debut novel ! Full of intrigue and mystery. A dash of romance but it’s not the focus of this story. What a ride we get taken on. The main story revolves around Lace Killian and the Ringmaster. The story will keep you guessing the whole way only to mic drop you at the end. My theories changed constantly, I loved the challenge. I can usually pick up on plot twists, and while I picked up on the gist of it the end revelation 🤯
I have so many questions. And emotions. And need answers. Give me book 2 already ! I can’t wait to see Lace grow even more into the person she is supposed to be. Hoping for a little more loving in book two now that the base of the story has been set.
~Pandemonium Review~ • “In order to win, you must lose it all...” • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 • Lace, a princess forced into an arranged marriage, gets chosen to compete in a magical competition when the mysterious traveling show, Pandemonium, comes back into town for the first time in five years. This book was everything i wanted Caraval (which i didn’t love) to be! • Pros: +mystical atmosphere filled with the perfect amount of magic for a circus! +i loved the relationship between the sisters +absolutely LOVED the descriptions of the dresses and masks! and the little notes the ring master would leave when gifting the dresses = *chef kiss* +the different tasks in the competition were so fun. it was nice seeing her actually take part in the circus acts and be apart of the ~danger~ especially when a lot of the acts were recognizable!! +i also loved the different magical objects described in this! I would have liked a little more world building and explanations of how the magic works but i liked it regardless! +had a love triangle that i didn’t hate! both options were very... compelling and i want to see more of both +there’s set up for a morally gray villain in the next book which really excites me. i love a good morally gray character • Cons: -very rushed and confusing ending (i had to read it multiple times to understand it) but it does make me very excited for book two to see where it goes! -the main character relied heavily on people helping her and explaining things to her. it sometimes felt like she was just along for the ride instead of being the one to make things happen. • Overall i really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it if you like circus themed books! I’m looking forward to book two and more work from Willow Anderson.
Holy moly! Soooooo I'm not usually one to gravitate towards a carnival story, boyyyyyy am I glad I read this one! This book kept me stuck to the pages! I had been in a slump for a few weeks and this gave me the boost I needed. Ready for awesomeness? :D
First of all this is how I felt:
I absolutely loved the mysterious atmosphere, it’s the type of book that makes you say.. how did I miss that! The character development was well paced, the descriptions were perfect to paint pictures in my mind, the world building was beautiful. I felt vibes of Caraval and Throne of Glass, the mix of carnival and a badass heroine. The magical system was super intriguing, filled with illusions and sexiness, absolutely captivating. Somehow I am always attracted to the morally grey character and wow was this character one I completely gravitated towards.
I was on my toes throughout the whole book, Willow leaves us wondering who the heck is the bad guy! And there it is right in front of your nose. I will definitely be reading the next book. Have you seen the cover! I am ready to learn more about this world, and honestly I can't wait to see more of the certain sexy someone.
Thank you so much to the author for giving me the opportunity to review this title. If you're looking for a fast paced mysterious sexy read this is definitely for you!

Somewhere between 3.5 and 4 Stars for me. The premise was different which I liked, and though I’m not usually a huge fan of “episodic” stories this one worked okay for me - of course the whole circus/magic element was my favorite (i’m a sucker for a carnival/circus/magic show) but I also enjoyed the characters (especially the two sisters) along with some of the fringe characters, there’s some good mystery and intrigue layered throughout and there were some good twists at the end. Aaaand I have a feeling I’m going to like the next book even more (i’ve heard it gets a bit darker, bestill my heart🖤)...something about this felt like we were just scratching the surface of this story...so excited to see where it goes next.
This is everything a circus themed book should be! I feel like this book is being slept on and I'm here to tell you that you are missing out.
The MC is Lace, a princess excited for her visit to Pandemonium. The excitement is cut short when she witnesses a murder and the circus disappears never to be seen again. Until now. Fast forward five years...her parents are dead, her brother just sold her off to be married to their enemy.....and Pandemonium is back.
There's mystery, magic, secrets, plot twists and a love triangle. I need say no more.
I don't often get super excited about books...but this one was REALLY good! It was all I was hoping it would be and more! :) Mysterious, magical, atmospheric, intriguing, exciting...it totally transferred me to a different world...and the story....it was SOOO GOOD! It was full of twists and turns, it kept me guessing ...and the character arcs were really well-thought out! (to an impressive extent!) And, for a change, it was nice to see women really supporting each other and female characters that were neither super soft nor ridiculously aggressive! The romance part of the story was also nicely managed. Strong and well paced but done in a way that didn't overpower the other aspects of the plot. So...was this book perfect? No! But, in my opinion, the overall experience was so positive that I am willing to oversee some "conviniences" or small mistakes. :) I could go on and on...but I won't!Just read it and see for yourself! If you like magic, fantasy and mystery (and, yes, some romance!), then you need to read this! It's good and I wholeheartedly recommend it! :)
A crazy ride, full of riddles, chaos, magic, two brave performers, one mysterious ringmaster and a circus called Pandemonium. Loved it. Though few things at the end confused me a bit. But all over it is worth a read. The world of chaos and magic was amazing. Can't wait to see what chaos the sequel holds?!!!! I liked the writing A LOT! The way certain things were written blew my mind... ❤️
This was a great YA dark circus fantasy. Very reminiscent of the caraval series. Loved the characters and the setting. Lace was my favorite character. I can't wait for the sequel
WOW. Prepare to gasp, ooooh and ahhhh as though you're front row at a real circus! When Lace witnesses a murder in a circus tent aged 12, she can't begin to fathom what she's witnessed. Get sucked in to this gorgeous tale of bodices, masked men and daring circus feats as you get swept up in conspiracy theories and twists and turns that will keep you hooked until the end. I read this book in record time, knowing full well I wouldn't receive all my answers as there is another book coming soon (YAY!), but what I loved was I got enough answers that I'll sleep tonight and still be counting down days until the release of Catalyst. I really recommend this book because it's different and exciting. It really is hard to guess what's going on and even though I thought I had figured it all out, there were still some surprises! Side note - not a fan of circuses because clowns? There are no clowns. So GET READING NOW!
I would also like to mention that I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review as part of a book tour with Literary Bound Tours.
I was thrilled to be chosen to host a stop on this tour, as I have been interested in reading this book since I heard about it! Pandemonium combines two of my favourite aspects in books; a circus, and royalty. Something that stood out the most to me was the uniqueness of this novel. The world building and plot was very creative and it's unlike anything I've read. At some points it gave off an Alice in Wonderland vibe, with otherworldly magic and nonsense which made it very whimsical. Can we also mention this gorgeous cover? I'm happy to say that the beauty of the cover matches the beauty of the content and prose. The writing was entertaining and made for a book that was fast-paced and kept you reading. At many points I had no idea what would happen next, which made for a delightful reading experience.
Aside from the interesting plot, the characters were something I also really enjoyed. In Pandemonium, we have a loveable and morally-grey villain which was great! We also have a strong family dynamic between Lace and her sister Victoria. I liked the development of their relationship and felt it was realistic with their highs and lows. The romance in this book was very cute and entertaining, we do have a bit of a love triangle but it was well done in that it wasn't tiring or cliche, but rather engaging. Lace was my favourite character, she's strong, intelligent and determined. She didn't give up when faced with difficult, and sometimes scary situations. She is definitely someone I'd want to be friends with! I am always ready to read a book with a strong female lead, it is something great to see. By the end of the novel I was attached to the characters and their relationships with each other. The only thing that I would change is that at times it became too fast paced, and I would have liked to see some scenes be longer.
For anyone wanting a creative, fast-paced mystery/fantasy with loveable characters, this is definitely the book for you!
Fans of Caraval by Stephanie Garber will almost certainly enjoy Pandemonium. The plot was very intriguing. But while I wanted to absolutely love and adore it, there were certain things that bugged me.
I'm not sure if this is published by the author or a small indie publishing company, but either way I could tell. It badly needed to go through a round or two of edits, both for grammatical reasons and for developmental reasons. This would have brought it up a level or two and made it soooo much more pleasant to read.
I adored the sister relationship between Lace and Victoria. Lace as a main character was great. I did wish she'd been more of an assertive character. She did a lot of whining and feeling frustrated, but most of her problems were solved for her rather than by her. It really bugged me that every time she got a clue for the Pandemonium contest, Killian was the one to say, "Don't worry! I know exactly what this means and what we need to do." I really wanted Lace to have a bigger role in deciphering those clues and deciding on how to present their acts.
I also wished that Lace and Victoria had made more of an effort to talk to their brother, Robert. It seemed like they were close as siblings before their parents died, and then he became this power hungry king and they just said, "Oh, well. There's nothing we can do so we'll just let him ruin our lives." I wanted them to fight him on his decisions more.
There's a lot more I could say about this. I can see its potential. I really did enjoy it. I just wish it could become a bit more polished.

This books started off slow for me. But when it did pick up, it definitely held my attention.
In this book you meet 12 year old Lace and her family right off the bat as she and her family go to Pandemonium. A show filled with magic and mystery. One you only can attend if invited. She has been pressuring her father for ages to go and the anticipation she feels upon her first time to brought to life by the author. Lace witnesses something she shouldn’t have seen and flees taking with something that should not have been hers.
Pandemonium disappears for 5 years. Suddenly when her parents meet a tragic end she is thrust into a world she never wanted. Feeling betrayed by her older brother, she wants nothing more than to escape with her younger sister Victoria. Pandemonium returns, enemies appear, and she comes to fee she can’t trust anyone but Victoria and their servant Lucille.
The story picks up and your drawn into a world of dark circus magic and fantasy. At points the author struggles to keep the reader in her created world and, the grammar and editing struggles can become jarring. You notice this more as her story picks up pace the editing struggles seemingly increase with that pace.
This debut novel is one I would recommend despite the struggles the author has. For a first/debut novel, self published, self edited book; you are definitely captivated by the authors story telling abilities. I can honestly say I can’t wait for the second book in this series to come out. I’m highly intrigued to see how brilliant she is when she has an editing team behind her as she does have with the second in this series.
Overall this story gay 3.5 stars for me. For me 3.5 stars is equivalent to a B if I were grading. Definitely can’t wait to dive into this world again when the next one is released.
This is such an amazing book! The world of Pandemonium is chaotic and wonderful!
Lace is a princess, who has just lost her parents in an accidental carriage crash. However, she believes it's murder. Her brother has let the crown go to his head and immediately arranges a marriage to a rival kingdom. Pandemonium comes back after years of disappearance with a competition where the winner gets an invaluable prize. Now Lace is not only trying to win the competition to find her parents killer, find a way out of an arranged marriage to a horrible prince, but also fighting the pull of a new stranger in town and the Ring Master.
The world building is absolutely amazing in Pandemonium. I loved all the different shops and stages in the tent. I could picture everything so well as if I was standing right there next to Lace and experiencing it with her. I wanted to jump into the book and walk the streets with her.
Lace was a very easy character to sympathize with. She's hot-headed and emotional and tends to follow her heart over her head, although it's a constant battle between the two. She also didn't always have the answers to every problem that came her way. Even though she tried to do things on her own, she had to seek out help.
The ending completely threw me for a loop which is my favorite type of ending. I honestly couldn't have guessed it, even though I was consistently trying to figure out who our murderer was.
If you loved Caraval, then you seriously need to pick up this book! It has all the magic and chaos that I love it a circus book.
Be prepared to be immersed in decadent magic, mystery and mayhem while reading Pandemonium by Willow Anderson.
This book begins with witnessing a murder and that edge of harsh mystery is cultivated into a wild garden of...well...Pandemonium.
An elite circus which is performing for the first time in five years for one week before a coronation and a politically arranged wedding. Ten lucky contestants are selected to compete in nightly contests for the grand prize of one fulfilled wish.
Lace and her mysterious partner must trust each other to make it through each dangerous and chaotic elimination, hopefully with their sanity in check.
I loved this book. I read it in one day because I couldn’t put it down! When I read it, it felt like I was actually there in the circus. I could see and hear it. Her description of the clothing and masks, and the surroundings made them almost tangible. My heart pounded during the contests.
My only issue with the book is that I wish she’d spent as much time on developing the romance as she did everything else. It felt as if she skipped important developments in favor of focusing on the action. Which in the end, was okay, because the action was so compelling.
I am giving this book five hearts because it was a wonderful escape and left me feeling refreshed, as if I’d truly been on vacation. I’ll want to experience it over and over. I plan to buy the physical copy and any other books written by this very talented author.
So, I am not one to usually gravitate to a carnival or magical storylines. Now don’t get me wrong I did read The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern much delayed compared to everyone else and I did like it. Pandemonium was so magical and intense that it made me want to read more like this so thank you Ms. Willow Anderson. This is one of those books that if you are in a reading slump that this will get you out of it quickly because it’s just so different and fun.
I loved the atmosphere that it created this magical yet spooky read that I couldn’t put down. Towards the end I just felt like how did I miss this read. The character development was well paced, the descriptions were perfect to paint pictures in my mind, the world building was beautiful. The magic and illusions are flawless and beautifully done. Somehow, I am always drown to the morally grey characters and wow was this character one I completely was drawn to from the beginning. Willow leaves us wondering who the bad guy is in this book. When you are done you are going to be like it was in front of you the entire time and you are just under the spell of the book. Have you seen the cover! I am ready to learn more about this world, and honestly, I need book two to be out already. If you are looking for a book that is different from what you generally read this is the one to take a chance on.
Come one, come all, and enter a world of magic, mystery, and chaos. Pandemonium by Willow Anderson promises all of this and more for the mere price of one’s sanity.
This Victorian gothic tale takes you on a thrilling ride into a kingdom with Lace, the lead protagonist, and the ever-changing Big Top events of Pandemonium, from which we follow her story from her perspective with all the glitz, glamour and madness that occurs within every night.
Is it all smoke and mirrors, or is it real?
There are deadly consequences to the participants in this strange and wonderful game that we witness unfold. Something menacing is happening behind the scenes as Lace begins to search for answers to her traumatic past. The clock starts to wind down as The Kingdom, and those within, come into peril.
The amount of danger, mystery, and madness in this book made it enthralling with every page. Pandemonium is a must-read for any gothic, horror, or mystery fan as it has something for everyone. Writing a debut novel can be a daunting task, but Anderson’s first attempt at publishing is one of intrigue and suspense, knocking it out of the ballpark, or big top, with Pandemonium.
I had stumbled upon this book via Bookstagram and I am so happy I did. Pandemonium is a breathtaking and awe inspiring story. Fans of Caraval and The Night Circus are sure to love this book as much as I did! I loved the mystery, action, romance, magic, and above all the characters that can be found under this positively stunning cover.
Willow's descriptive writing was captivating, and the outfits she described the Pandemonium performers wearing sounded to die for! There were so many fun twists and turns to the story, and I loved unraveling them. I am so excited for Catalyst to release to see what happens next!
