Oh..my...god...I wasn’t prepared!
She told me it was dark...the book warns you that it’s dark...but I was sooo not prepared.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I must have been thinking “Pfft, it’s The Lion King, ffs, how dark can it be?”
I was wrong, okay?

SO FECKIN’ WRONG!
And I loved it!

Not many authors out there can shock me anymore, lol, I tip my hat to you Ms. Amor.

NERA
Loved, loved, loved this girl.
She’s one of those that is just 100% her.

She’s surrounded by club wannabes in tiny skin-tight dresses with their tits hangin’ oot. And yes, she feels a little less ‘pretty’ sometimes but she is still gonna be her!
In her ripped jeans, biker boots and a leather jacket, baby.

At 16 years old she’s considered the MCs brat, lol, her mum was a bit of a “pass-the-parcel” hoe for the guys and so when her mum was pregnant, it really could have been to any of the lads, so they all kinda adopted her.

She’s sassy AF, too.

Her best friend is Cub, the Presidents son, who’s also 16 and getting ready to be a prospect in a couple of years hopefully.
She’s slowly realising that she’s in love with him but knows it’s likely never gonna happen because she won’t stand for being anything other than an Ol’ Lady. Not one of these “cum buckets”.
And they’ve never gone there before.

Anyway, they sneak out one night and bump into some rival MC guys and shit gets fierce.
Just when guns are about to go blazin’ his dad and a bunch of others show up and save their asses.
Nera gets sent home while father and son have a chat.

So she waits for him to get back.
She waits...and waits...then some of the guys come back. But not the two most important to her.
That night marks the end of her innocence.

What happens after that...tore my heart right out of ma chest!

Joker has made me a whore; he tore my innocence away, ripping the scream he promised from my throat as he repeatedly took me. Blood ran down my legs as he took me in every way he could. Then he fed my scraps to the wolves - watched as tears fell from my eyes as I choked on their dicks. Screamed as they bit me, marked me- drew blood and left scars.

I am a shadow of my former bratty self!
Okay, that may be a wee bit overkill. I will always be a full-on brat and I wear entirely too much glitter to ever be a shadow :-)

But I read most of this book with my gob (mouth) hangin’ open and tears in my eyes.
Such a powerful and intense story!

I could hear my heart pounding at what she and the others went through…
Also...I’m more than a little turned on by Nera’s ‘demon’...holy shit, I’m fucked up, lol!
*throws a handful of glitter in the air and flounces out of room*

SEX SCENES
Beau continues to map my body with his lips. I freeze as his lips run over my own scars, and he stills before his tongue comes out licking them as if he is removing the hurt, the pain. The gesture so intimate that my eyes glass, causing a tear to fall from the corner of my eye. I gasp as he licks between my legs, dragging his tongue slowly over me before he laps at me, growling as he does. I look down to see his amber eyes full of liquid heat as he feasts on me, our sound forbidden in the darkness. I cum quickly, opening my mouth on a silent scream as my whole-body locks before tremors shake me, sending waves and waves of pleasure through me that leave me gasping for breath. Beau climbs up my body, kissing me, and the taste of me still on his lips mixed with him is toxic, I can’t help whimpering. His arm wraps around me, turning me so I’m on my hands and knees. I turn to look over my shoulder, needing to see him and know it’s Beau. As if he knows, he comes over me covering my body with his, and the heat of his skin wraps around me. As he mounts me, slowly inching inside we both let out groans of pleasure. He stills, taking my lips, “Nera.” My name leaves his lips as if it’s a final prayer, each letter spoken with an emotion that overwhelms me before he licks at my lips and starts to move his hips. The noise of our body’s echoes around the room as sounds of pleasure break the darkness. As his hips pick up the pace, his teeth bite into my nape which causes me to tighten around him. The desire breaks into a million different little shocks before connecting and causing my body to explode under him gasping and calling his name. Only a few more hard thrusts and Beau growls in the air, his fingers holding on my hips as his body shakes above me.

FINAL THOUGHTS on NERA by Raven Amor
Wow! Just, wow!
I was not prepared for this to hit me the way it did and fuck me, did it hurt!
I’m not easily surprised anymore, lol, but this one came out of nowhere, grabbed my heart, shredded it, then handed it back to me.

This is a fabulous read. It starts off with the story we read in The Dark Kingdom Anthology.

Nera- wow she’s a wicked main female character. I absolutely love how she stands up for what she believes in -her family.

I can’t really say much without spoiling it but I will say I was ranting at my kindle a few times.

Brilliant read. Can’t wait to read more from this author.

This is a dark retelling of the tale, The Lion King, and what a terrific correlation it is too. I was literally hooked straight away when I read the first part in an anthology and was so keen to read the next part. It was definitely worth the wait!

The story is told from Nera’s point of view and that is extremely important but I won’t spoil it for anyone. We truly get to know Nera much better this way and experience the emotional highs and low points. Nera is a strong, sassy, confident character who loves the Hells Beast MC where she grew up.

Beau, aka Cub, King is the son of the club president and best friend of Nera. He is tall with muscles on muscles, a born leader in the making and one hot as all get out young man. Although we get to know Nera on a more personal level we do get to discover Beau quite a bit as well. He is a honey! Yes, he can be intimidating but with the life he led that’s understandable.

I enjoyed the twists and turns in the story making it unpredictable and exciting. There is plenty of action and drama to get your heart pumping as well as a wonderful love story, it might not be soft with flower petals but it is just as endearing. Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster ride where you will feel every emotion with each character.

I thoroughly recommend this book to everyone who enjoys entering the dark side!

OMG HOLY HADES and everything in between. I was warned by the author that this is a dark book but damn I was not prepared to read this DARK and I mean DARK read. I was so glued to my kindle that I could not get enough. I mean it is dark and disturbing but once you start reading it you can't put it down.

Nera went through some horrible shizz and she had her heart crushed but she holds her own because she is sassy and strong. This is one of those books that is a must read!

Everything Nera holds dear was ripped away from her in one night and it changes her but she is so incredibly strong and fierce that I loved her!! There is parts of this book that made it almost to read and my heart shattered for Nera but she is resilient! Beau and Neras story isn’t a easy one but it’s so good that you can’t help but get engulfed by it

Little Lion King Retelling!
3.5 stars
He left me, unable to breathe, lost in a world of pain and confusion.

How would you feel if your best friend was ripped away from you as those sparks were just finally igniting? Finally going to face them, only for it to go up in flames?

I loved this dark retelling of the Lion King told from Nera’s point of view. This is my first read from Raven Amor and I absolutely loved it, but near the end I couldn’t tell if it was always supposed to have a fantasy element to it. It’s hard to explain without spoilers, so I'll leave it be, but it threw me for a loop. I get it’s a retelling and all, but it just didn’t seem natural to the story.

This best friends to lovers, second chance, angsty retelling and my heart breaking for Cub and Nera, obviously. There was so much loss going on, I could hardly take it.

Past is meeting up with the future, and Nera is determined to fix her home after someone selfishly took it from her. Cub built a new life, and he quickly realizes all the damage that was made after that one fateful night. If you’re looking for a dark retelling of your favorite disney story, this is one I recommend, though it may get a little confusing.

Nera definitely deserves more than five stars.

This book, a dark retelling of the classic The Lion King, had me hooked from the very first paragraph and held my attention right to the end. It’s from the main character, Nera’s POV and I’m so glad I went along for the ride.

The blood soaked betrayal, heartbreaking secrets and bloodlust grabbed me by the throat and wouldn’t let me go until I screamed out the safe word, fortunately for me, I’m a sucker for punishment and kept my lips sealed. Safe word smafe word.

There were so many twists and turns my heart rate spiked multiple times and I enjoyed discovering more and more as the story went on.

Nera is a badass, strong and courageous character with loyalty bound to The Hells Beast MC. The family of all families. We get to know Beau “Cub” King, son of the club president who also is Nera’s best friend. He is dangerously seductive and has muscles in all the right places.

As the author, Raven Amor points out, there aren’t any unicorns in this book. It’s dark, gritty, have you by the collar type of gripping read.

I can’t recommend this story enough! Especially if you enjoy the darker side of romance.

What a great book! I love a good dark, twisted MC and always surprise myself how much I love the gritty and broken characters. I prefer them. This was filthy dark, emotional and had me hooked from the first page. I do admit…I wanted to throat punch Beau so hard! My heart was in my throat! Way to hold me captive in your story!

Phenomenal

Definitely worth more than 5stars. I loved this book. What can I say about Nera and Beau just that they rock. Just like in fairytales you have tragedy and loss but you also have family whom you protect at all cost. Even when one loses their life doing so. Nera definitely had nine lives in this story and everyone of them was used. I loved the chemistry and friendship between Nera and Beau both were awesome characters and I loved them. I most definitely recommend this read.

I loved Raven Amor's Owned By Him, so even though I'm not big on novellas, I wanted to give this a try. For most of it, I loved this book, too. Holy Mackerel this was dark. Soo dark. The concept of reworking the Lion King into a MC romance from Nala's point of view was such a cool, creative idea, and it was executed really well. The author didn't try to force the story to mimic the Lion King too much, she let it stand on its own, while alluding enough to feel the connection throughout. I was impressed by the incorporation animalistic imagery and the subtle feline characteristics of the main characters. It never felt forced or laid on too thick, it was just enough to enrich the story.

It kind of lost me around the time the magical element came up. I'm not going to lie, it kind of killed the book for me. It came as part of a huge data dump at the end, and it was like it was a completely different book. All of the magic and new introductions felt like a cop-out.

I'm pretty sure the author is British (I forgot to check). It wasn't very obvious, but I could tell in the use of 'car park' instead of 'parking lot,' and 'quieten' as in 'quieten down' instead of 'quiet.' I like that stuff, its kind of fun when I can find those things. I do wish that it had gotten one more pass through editing, mostly just to clear up when to use commas vs periods vs question marks. Also, the Spanish sounded unnatural to me. I'm not a native speaker so I can't say for sure, but it needed work from where I was standing.

SPOILER TRIGGER WARNINGS: Watch out for ample rape, sexual abuse, torture, kidnapping, sexual slavery, addiction and withdrawal, plus your standard graphic murder and violence.

OTHER, VAGUE SPOILERS

The author sent me reeling, thinking terrible things, only to switch it up at the very last second. A little bit of that is par for the course in a story, but this was too much in my opinion. It was done with multiple things, and milked too hard. It didn't seem to have much of a purpose other than to manipulate us.

HUGE SPOILERS DON'T READ UNLESS YOU'VE READ THE BOOK ALREADY

I liked the way Nera's demon was used and described until they made it seem like it was a whole other personality, like she had multiple personality disorder or something. It went from being a believable coping mechanism to being an obviously unrealistic one, and a lazy shortcut to let her secrets out quickly without having to go through the work of getting Nera to a place where she could be vulnerable enough to talk about her past.

What was the point of making Slasher her dad, anyway? Just to terrify us that she and Cub are actually cousins?? Only to just clear up our concern for possible incest with a convenient throw in, 'oh and by the way, Slasher actually wasn't Beau's uncle' practically in the epilogue?

Introducing Alejandro's character pretty much at the story's climax? He and his mother prophets?? And then they make a prophecy about Nera's upcoming showdown?? and Ta-Da! This random mystical new guy is her half-brother, 3 minutes before the book ends???

And then the Nera is dead shit. That was milked to fucking death in Beau's POV in the end there. No subtlety whatsoever. And then it's, she did die but not really, and she and Alejandro have the same weird blood type? Too much. Too too much.

Nera's recovery from her trauma was somewhat unrealistically clean, but it wasn't a snap of the fingers or anything. I was down to suspend my belief about it and it wasn't a problem for me. The thing that got.to me was: this girl has been raped by a whole bunch of different guys and had a whole bunch of different needles stuck in her, and you guys are going to just go ahead and have sex without a condom? Without even a mention of safety, or birth control? I'm not normally preoccupied with the safety of my romance novel sex, but this was concerning.

All the Hell's Beasts are howling for Nera!!

WOW, just WOW!! Raven Amor has knocked me off my feet with Nera, an MC novella that is a dark romance retelling of the Lion King from Nera's POV. Didn't you always want a version of Lion King from Nala's perspective?

“You, back just like you promised, blood will be spilled, and lives lost, darkness has taken over, and only when the twin flames are reunited will light come.”

Nera and Cub (Beau) have grown up in Hells Beast MC as best friends, Beau is the son of the club president and Nera is the daughter of a club whore.

After they sneak out one night to go to a concert, they are surrounded at the concert by a rival club, The Lost Souls. Thankfully, Beaus father, and uncle, and several other members of the Hells club show up to protect them and send Nera home. And it's at this point that the fairytale goes straight to hell.

I absolutely adored this dark fairytale! It is dark, bloody, gritty and sad, but the beauty of Nera's redemption and subsequent retribution is sublime!! The split between Nera and her demon is sexy, and spine tingling, at once deadly but still so beautiful as to make many a person look her direction no matter which form of Nera they're going to be faced with.

I love, LOVED that the story was told entirely from Nera's POV, and those last minute roller coaster twist and turns of the plot were absolutely not where I thought the author was headed. An excellent dark fairytale definitely worth 5⭐'s, I can't WAIT to read more from this author!!

A dark and faithful 5 Star retelling of The Lion King

Wow, Author Raven Amor has written a near faithful retelling of The Lion King within the MC world. Only this time it is from young Nera’s POV, and there is nothing pretty or Disney-ish about her version. It was one hell of a gritty and dark read that tells us of King’s death, Cub’s exile and subsequent return to the group that has suffered and died under the rule of Slasher, Cub’s evil and cowardly Uncle.

My heart was so heavy, and tears choked the back of my throat to hear of Nera’s experiences within the club, and her own method of dealing with it. Ms Amor doesn’t sugar-coat Nera’s words, and while nothing is left out, it isn’t be-laboured or written gratuitously in any way. I may be a dark-reading lightweight, and while my heart broke as my horrified eyes consumed a story that I couldn’t put down, it wasn’t too much that I couldn’t carry on. That’s not to say that I might, or might not have had an extra vodka or two while reading it though!

Beau and Nera have grown and changed. They had to, to deal with the ugliness and the trauma that life had dealt to them, but oh holy hell their strength and their love for each other was still stuff that makes any reader swoon. This ain’t no fairy tale reading, but there is love, and there is one hell of a story. Raven Amor did awesome, and I highly recommend it to all who love those dark MC reads. 5 Stars.

Having been left on a ledge after Raven teased us with the beginning of this story in an anthology a few months back, I've been dying to sit down and get the answers I've been craving. Whether you're like me and been on tenterhooks, or you're new to this story/author... Trust me, you're in for one hell of a ride...

This book is raw, dark and gritty, you'll be transfixed from cover to cover, unable to look away even though at times it will feel like the blood flowing from the pages is coating your own skin. The author made it clear there were no unicorn, and boy did she deliver.

Told from the point of view of a strong heroine who will inspire all, this is her journey through hell, leaving bodies in her wake. Will her ride or die be standing tall beside her, or will he be a casualty of war?

Honestly so much happens in this book (both old and new) so it's really hard talking about it without ruining it for anyone. It felt like I read the first part for the first time again, re opening those old wounds, thank god we weren't left dangling on that cliff again! (New readers be grateful you were saved that fate!)

With twists and turns you won't see coming, get your knives ready for one hell of a fight. Would give more stars if I could.

Nera is currently £0.77 at the moment!!

Raven is a new author to and j have loved everything she wrote. I fell in love with her writing for Owned by him it's a dark mafia romance. Must read and now she done MC romance

I was so excited I was like yes it's a romeo and juliet story but a few characters die. Things take a very dark turn !! Nera is a kick ass character she Keating fighting when she left one cage for another. The second cage brought her the man she fought died. Tears of joy at this point. Beau a.k.a Cub & Nera back together again. Then I learnt towards the end this story is more like lion King romance.

A jealous uncle told the son to run because everyone will hate for what he done to his father. Uncle rules over the Club but the true King has returned his name is Beau 🦁👑 his Uncle murdered his dad not him in that fire
Circle of life

MUST READ and one of my favs. And I love that it reminds me if the Lion King. I love the strong Heroine Nera and I love when her other personalities comes through called Demon. Demon tells the truth and protects Nera from danger and the memories

My favorite Disney movie is The Lion King, so when I saw that Nera was a dark telling of that movie, I knew that I had to read it, and HOLY HELL! I'm not even going to attempt to describe the stories details because...
1. I couldn't do it justice and
2. I don't want to because it's best going in blind.
This story, this story was brilliantly unpredictable with the twists that got my predictable f-bomb dropping, but then it just rendered me mute. There's so much chaos going for Nera, who is a fantastically strong heroine that I could get behind. Her story definitely doesn't have unicorns in it, more like bodies left in her wake from the bloody fight, and it kept my heart racing like mad. There's so much goodness in this story that you will have all kinds of extreme emotions out to play, and it was totally worth every upset. So, if you're into dark romance, then this is the perfect book for you! If you like to dabble in the dark stories, then hit those one click buttons! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

There are many things I could say about this story but I've not yet stopped sobbing to be able to write them  down. Its 3:45 am and I have 3 hrs to sleep but its so worth it, there was no way I was ever going to not read this book in one sitting, even if I wanted to put it down I couldn't.

As the story unfolds and the shock subsides, its replaced with fear, anger, hurt and heartbreak, i cried so much more through the second half of this book that i didn't think I'd be able to stop.
MC is one of my favourite genres and my god raven is a credit to it.

I absolutely love nera and the strong beautiful side we see.

Beau...now then, hes EVERYTHING

"LOVE WILL FIND A WAY"

If you love a book, thats gritty, dirty, has you on the edge of your seat and takes your heart of the wildest ride then this is most definitely the book for you.

This will stay with me for a long time to come.

I had insta love with Cub and Nera. I was hooked by their story instantly. Then out of nowhere my heart is torn from my chest, stomped a couple of times, picked up thrown at the wall then given back to me battered and bruised. You think it would stop there but nope! Give me that heart back b!tch, we are going for a ride but your been dragged behind the bike.

Nera was such a strong MC and so badass. You have no idea what is coming next for her and the twists just keep on coming...What she went through would make me p!ss my pants, a grown man would p!ss their pants. To be honest I dont know how Nera made it through what she did... but I think it has a lot to do with her shall we call her "helper"

I keep finding all these lil hidden gems of books that blow my expectations out of the water. With this book I guessed a couple of twists but the biggest at the end I didnt see coming! There were a few bits at the end I was like WTF but I guess it comes down to if you believe in certain things or not (cue cryptic music)

This is another DARK and graphic novel, but fuk Im here for them at the moment.

Get ready for a retelling of the Lion King like you've never seen before, a version you never knew you needed until now.........

"Blood will be spilled, and lives lost, darkness has taken over, and only when the twin flames are reunited will light come"

Raven gives us a enthralling and captivating retelling of my favourite Disney film ever!.... and she does it perfectly......

Cub and Nera's story is dark and dangerous, filled with twists and turns ,lies deceit and betrayal, its gut wrenching and heartbreaking but its grips you and keeps you turning the pages NEEDING to know whats going to happen next...

"I would burn the world down to find you and kill them all, wear the blood of those who would dare harm a hair on your head. With pride and honor "

I've loved every minute of these character's story and I'm so excited to see what else the future holds for this author.

This is a dark retelling of The Lion King from Nala's point of view, though her character in the book is named Nera. She's an MC brat who falls in love with her BFF, Cub, who will one day take over for his father (Cub's POV is told in a separate story that was previously published as part of an anthology). First, let me say that I really liked the plot...it fit well into the MC world. But the execution of the story was a tad bit hard for me to follow. It's told VERY quickly, and years skip by from chapter to chapter. There are parts of the story which take place in Mexico, and that's where it went downhill for me. The Spanish used in the story was incorrect, both grammatically and technically, missing accents where needed which then changed the word, etc. I'm bilingual so those who aren't probably won't pick that up, but it distracted me.

Nera and Beau (Cub) is not your typical love story. It's dark, heartbreaking, emotional, tear jearker, and will pull out some emotions that will have you wondering if they can be fixed. When these two get feelings its cut short by a tragic event that rocks Nera's world to the core. Years later after not having hope she comes face to face with the past, but will they be able to put aside all the hurt and pain of the past to save the future or will it be to late save themselves or anyone else? This book had me in tears, and had a few laughs but the heartbreak and the intense darkness will keep you wanting to finish it but not wanting it to end. Amazing read that will leave you breathless.

An ok read. I went in to this one semi blind and reading based off a recommendation that said the book did not end in an HEA. Well it in fact DID have an HEA (I’m not taking stats off because of that because I know the author isn’t at fault for people recommending her book incorrectly.) anyways, I semi enjoyed the story, probably really enjoyed it up until around the 60%ish mark when I started dabbling into the paranormalish side. I loved the lion king retelling and everything and could even get behind the “demon” as a type of split personality/coping mechanism, but it went a little further than that and I just didn’t get how it tied into what could have been a really great story.

So this is my first book by this author and I’m hooked and you will be too. So many emotions, it’s dark, intense, twists and turns around every corner, you think you know what’s coming, but in reality you really have no idea. Nera is just amazing, she’s strong willed and loyal. Cub is all man and HOT as all get out, who couldn’t resist him? Don’t expect this love story to be all hearts and flowers, because it’s not, and honestly I wouldn’t have it any other way! You are so not ready for this action packed read so buckle up buttercups you are in for a freaking ride!

Honestly I don't know where to start with this book. I didn't except to like as much as I did I have to admit I wasn't sure how I felt about the retelling of the lion king but I can honestly say that I absolutely loved this story mode than the actually Lion King. Nera and Beau where amazing characters. I think what I loved about this story was that Nera and Beau wasn't all lollipops and rainbows that you could actually feel the pain and all the ugly sides of love before you get to the good side and the happily ever after. I can't wait to read more from the author!!!

Finally! The answers that we've been waiting for! After falling in love with this club and these characters in The Dark Kingdom Anthology, I've been impatiently waiting for the conclusion to Beau & Nera's story. A read so full of ALL the twists and turns, secrets & lies, devastating loss & betrayal. This is not a hearts and flowers kind of read.... it's dark, gritty and bloody... Nera and Beau their journey isn't easy; full of some many obstacles to overcome but when these two rise from the ashes of what life has thrown at them... just WOW!

A dark n twisted mc romance.

Not as good as her red horsemen series which is 5 well deserved stars.

It feels like she was just trying out the trope. And I gotta say you can tell. It just wasn't that well executed.

It just felt rushed and underdeveloped- lacking depth.

So much potential in the book and I think we see this in her red horsemen books which are just so good.

Glad I read that series before this. And if this is your first book by the author go read that series if you like dark, gritty, angsty mc books.

Overall disappointed

Just over 10%: I promise I won't forget how hot the main character is if you go 2 pages without describing him or stating how hot he is. Pinky promise.

Ok, it wasn't terrible. I wasn't expecting a bunch of magical mystical spirit stuff. Really could have done without it, it's not a thing I like to come across in much anything not specifically billed as paranormal. Skipped the spicy scenes entirely because I wasn't particularly attached to either character. Nera was okay, but not something I would really recommend.
