Rate this book
Tim David tackles an all-too-serious topic with an engaging wit and a solid one-week plan that works surprisingly well.

Along the way, you can expect:

-Funny stories
-The Meaning of Life (seriously, it's on page 13.)
-Fascinating science experiments (including the alcoholic surgeon)
-Interactive exercises and self-assessments
-The most famous alien invasion that never happened
-Puns and dad jokes
-The anatomy of all your habits (with a neat little diagram)
-Resources, tools, guides, and recommendations
-A "brain glitch" warning
-Action steps (with chances for extra credit)
-Checklists
-Spaces to write
-Phone hacks
-Life hacks (such as, "The Nipple Mustard")
-A "Don't Text and Drive" pledge
-An "Are You Addicted to Your Phone?" evaluation
-A whole chapter for parents
-A 44-page poem that you can read in two minutes (but it doesn't rhyme)
-And much more...

Our phones were supposed to save us time and keep us connected to each other. But if you've noticed your phone costing you time and reducing your human connections, then it's time to take the 7-day challenge.

What a timely book! As we have all been in lockdown, bad phone habits have become even worse as we use the phone not only to entertain ourselves, but also to escape from those around us. Obviously we literally cannot live without our phones entirely, so how do we get to the point where we are managing our phones, instead of our phones managing us? Phones have become a problem for many of us.
Tim David uses real-world examples to help guide you through realistically reducing your phone use. His writing uses simple, direct language. Pick this book up to start re-connecting with people and disconnecting from your phone. I have already ordered a copy to give as a gift to friend that desperately needs it and recommended it to several colleagues.

This book is very readable, and the steps toward a digital diet are practical and doable. I just finished the book and so have only recently implemented the steps, but I feel good about my progress and am hoping to share this with others.

Having had a great experience with Tim’s earlier book "magic words", I checked out his latest “7-day digital diet”. This is a pressing topic that needed to be addressed. Glad that complex science/how the brain works, habit loops have been explained in layman terms for a reader to understand the gravity of the situation and how it can be addressed.

Tim is right when he mentions that this isn’t a book you just read, it’s a book you do. Starting from realization/awareness of the problem, addiction, the author covers action steps for each day.
It is filled with simple, action steps that one can easily implement and see results. This is a classic reminder that humans overestimate what we can do overnight but underestimate what can be done over a few days/weeks.

The book covers tips for individuals, parents and is such an easy read with the typical Tim's wit and non-preachy approach.

“To-who list”, Don’t Vs can’t concepts - They look so simple yet they are so powerful. Thanks, Tim for giving me a few more great ideas on human connection. I strongly recommend this book "7-day digital diet" to anyone who wants to cut time on the phone, increase productivity and/or just build human connection. It is a must-read.

A year ago, by chance, I had picked up “magic words” by Tim. I had shared a copy at the school where our kids study & the teachers loved it so much they taught the entire school the power of a half a dozen simple words that are magical. If you haven’t read that yet, please do. That is also a must-read.

From the 1st pages you will be hooked and drawn into a book's story, laughing so hard you gonna pee yourself )) Since I discovered Tim David's books 2 years ago he keeps pleasantly surprising me even more with each new book. Loved it! I should warn you if you start reading it you won't stop! You will learn how your phone is literally stealing you time and an army of very smart Ph.Ds. from largest companies do everything in their books how to keep your engaged and “thirsty” for more why your life passes you by. Will you kick the addiction or became slave of the Phone Matrix? What’s the meaning of life? How to achieve success? That' on page 14. Sorry my phone is buzzing like crazy; I must go! Bye))

We’re all guilty of using our digital devices too much or a lot of us anyway.
Tim David in his inimitable witty style takes us through this book with common sense wisdom. You don’t have to throw your phone in the trash just use it, instead of letting it use you.
There are questionnaires and plenty of tips for managing your screen time.
Another great and useful book from this author, always entertaining to read.

In this book, Tim David does what Tim David does — he brings psychology, brain science, and human behavior together to help you be more intentional with your time, interactions, and connections. Far from an anti-technology call to arms, the plan he lays out is a more practical approach to breaking bad cycles and reclaiming control of your phone use. If you feel stuck impulsively checking notifications, mindlessly scrolling, or crushing candy instead of life, try it out. An easy, funny, helpful read.
