About the author

Priscilla Shirer is a wife and a mom first. But put a Bible in her hand and a message in her heart and you’ll see why thousands flock to her conferences and dive into her Bible study series’ and books each year.

A graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, Priscilla holds a Master’s degree in Biblical Studies and considers it a privilege to serve believers from every denomination and culture by helping them to know the truths of Scripture intellectually and encouraging them to experience these truths practically by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Her latest offering is a 365-day devotional called Awaken: 90 Days with the God Who Speaks. In 2016, Priscilla ventured into the world of children’s publishing with The Prince Warriors, a fiction 4-book series and accompanying 365-day devotional (Unseen) designed to equip tween boys and girls for victory in spiritual warfare.

Priscilla has been married to Jerry for 20 years. Between studying and writing, she spends most of her time cleaning up after (and trying to satisfy the appetites of) their three growing boys – Jackson, Jerry Jr. and Jude.

This is by far one of the best Bible studies I have ever participated in. It really brought me spiritually closer in my relationship with God. Elijah was a human just like us. God gave him challenging missions which he gracefully and humbly abided. By detailing his story Priscilla Shirer took me on a journey of my own. Asking myself ‘am I bold n my love for The Lord?’ ‘Do I stand up for God‘s law?’

Excellent Bible study for a pandemic or anytime. Ms. Shirer discusses how God can use isolation and even deprivation in our lives, and transform them into passion and bravery. She also talks about coming out of our cave to listen to God to see what he has next for us. This is a good study to learn about how God grows us and moves us forward.

I had this book recommended to me as a resource for a study on Elijah. I found this book to be more of a devotional style rather than study guide. I also did NOT like the fact that there were lots of fill in the blanks pages that were based on your watching the video (which costs extra). If you are running a small Bible group, this might be for you. If you are teaching a Bible class, I'd say pass.

I absolutely, one thousand percent, recommend this Bible study. It took me ten times longer than it should have to finish it, but that's simply because it kept calling me out and your girl was not prepared. Yet no matter how long it had been since I'd picked it up or how infrequently I visited the pages, God always met me right where I was.

Wow! There were so many deep, spiritual truths that Priscilla Shirer brought out about the life of Elijah. She didn’t just focus on Elijah’s confrontation with the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. Instead she brought us through the years of Elijah’s life leading up to that epic showdown. What God had brought Elijah through, what He taught Elijah, that allowed him to be used of God in such a mighty way on Mount Carmel. But we didn’t stop there. We also looked at why Elijah went from being on the mountaintop (literally) to then swinging to such a low valley and low place in his faith. Not only did this study make me stop and think about things that I hadn’t thought about before, but it made me take a closer look at my walk with God. I highly recommend it.

I tend to always get so much out of the Bible studies that I do with my ladies group at church, and this one was no different. I have a special fondness for Priscilla Shirer, her teachings and the lessons in the workbook. This six part study was divided into two sections, the first 3 about faith (as Elijah is in Gilead, then by the Brook Cherith, then with the widow of Zaraphath), which directly affected his faith. We covered Elijah's faith, and lack thereof, at Mount Carmel, Horeb and how these lessons affect my life. I can't say enough good things about this study, or my time studying God's word. Excellent study, highly recommend!

I’m greatly appreciate Priscilla Shrier insight and instructions as she takes you on a journey in the life of Elijah . He was bold in his devotion and reverence for God even when he was surrounded by idol Worshippers. I learned I can prepare the altar (environment ) for God to do a miracle but only he has the power to bring the fire (demonstrates his power ). I challenged myself to set the expectations, believe in impossible prayers and to trust God as I build a deeper faith and closer relationship with him.

This study hit me right where I needed at this season of my life. Priscilla takes a deep dive into Elijah's life from a few short chapters of scripture in I Kings. She teaches, challenges, and encourages Christian women on their walk with Christ.

I highly recommend this study especially if you are in a challenging season of wondering how on earth you got to where you might be right now and making sense of it all.
