A short but edifying refresher on the basics of running a Serviced Accommodation company.

Personally, had I not already learned many of these lessons the hard way over the past few months, I would likely have found the contents in the book more practically useful. Currently, much of it still serves as a useful reminder to not neglect the fundamentals.

There were things that I simply did not know about. For instance, the website to get VAs. But the basics on deal sourcing, deal analysis, dynamic pricing, and more - I was already aware of.

Perhaps I'm just outside the line of the book's ideal target audience. Things that would possibly have improved the book:

- More details on sourcing deals. Where to find them, how to negotiate with LLs, common objections and how to handle them
- Review management, offering late/early check-ins. Upselling on this too, if possible
- Guest guidance/check-in strategies
- Exploring the different linen set ups (linen hire, self-service, on-prem wash, launderette service)
- Finding cleaners at good rates, vetting them, scheduling them.
- Comparing channel managers on a basic level
- Security deposits and their pros/cons with a little more breakdown in terms of numbers

My impression is that Hugo has largely relied on management companies and isn't as in-touch with the graft on the ground as much anymore.

Very informative

A well structured book outlining the steps, work and procedures needed. This book shows the level hard work and organisation required for those serious in running a rent to rent AS business professionally. In particular, I am very appreciative of the lists of software packages for the different tasks.
