What do you do when something that is supposed to be a cure ends up causing complete chaos?
Seventeen-year-old Liam is ecstatic when a vaccination that cures diabetes has been developed. He has been counting down they days until he can receive his mandatory dose that will forever cure his type 1 diabetes. There are many people who are not thrilled about a mandatory vaccine. The administration of the vaccine is being distributed within schools first, however things don't go quite as planned. Children are getting sick and adults don't know what to do. With zombies on the rise, will anyone survive or find a cure? Is this the end or will they be able to create a new way of life?
I loved this story! Zombie apocalypse...overdone and predictable at this point, right? WRONG! With the amount of movies and books surrounding this topic, I expected it to be predictable; It was far from it. A new way of killing them, a new name for then, and so many twists you do not see coming! Honestly, a zombie apocalypse isn't something I would typically go for in a book but I am so glad I did! I really enjoyed this story and wasn't able to see anything coming. I highly recommend this book!
Warning: There is a paragraph early on in the book that explains in detail how to use a gun. I did feel this was inappropriate for a Young Adult book. I think that description would be more suited for a New Adult book or could have simply been reduced to "He taught me in great detail how to use a gun, preparing me to protect myself from whatever came my way."
I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

A new vaccination has been made that will cure diabetes. For those who have suffered with this affliction, it feels too good to be true. The vaccine will also make it so anyone who receives it will never have to worry about becoming diabetic. A law has been passed that makes it so vaccinations are now mandatory and they are to start administration with the schools first.

So what happens when the government makes vaccinations mandatory? A zombie apocalypse. Let the chaos ensue.

Ok this was quick, action-packed, full of craziness, and (for me) a ton of fun to read. I haven't read many zombie books but have watched a ton of movies. I loved that this went against the grain and had a different way to bring the zombies down. This would be a good one for those Spooktober lists and zombie enthusiasts.

A review copy was provided by the publisher. While a written review after reading was not required, I have provided one. All opinions expressed herein are mine and mine alone.

A mandatory vaccine to cure and prevent diabetes is meant to be distributed to all school age children, only it doesn’t go as far. Only a handful of needles are given when things go horribly wrong. Vaccinated students start having fierce seizures and pretty quickly turn into human flash craving and red eyed zombies. 🧟‍♂️ No one is safe.

The main characters were my kind of people, I wanted to join their dinner conversations about vaccinations, freedom of choice and conspiracy theories, and I was hoping they would be able to escape the madness to safety. 💉

This is a wild ride with cliffhangers at chapter ends and a very surprising ending. Totally didn’t expect it.

If you’re a zombie enthusiast, be sure to grab your copy of Remedium!

I just finished this book, and I'm overcome with soo many thoughts 😱.

Ok, so this is the first zombie book I have read so I was super excited to read this one.

The story doesn't just follow one character but a few characters at different times of the story and in different situations keeping the story fresh and new.

Now the ending WOAH!!! I just got thrown into a story and all I kept thinking was WHAT IS GOING ON!!! and I closed the book thinking WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED?...

I needed more It ended too fast for me...

But I loved the book it was enjoyable and entertaining, and honestly, I can see it having a movie adaptation and being very entertaining.

There was not too much zombie gore even though I wouldn't of minded some more action scenes.

I loved all the characters. DIAZ was my absolute FAVE 'my ninja zombie killer', and of course, I loved his bestie Conner (I always love the best friends).

And I just have to say Robert was just too sad for me, that whole school zombie scene was pulling strings and my heart, reading kid zombies being killed was moving.

BOOK REVIEW
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Remedium is a YA thriller/horror fiction novel that revolves around Liam; a young boy who is suffering from Type 1 Diabetes since he was a kid. A vaccine that is both a cure and prevention of the said disease is announced and is deemed mandatory for all school going children. Liam receives the shot, and so do thousands of children-and that's where the unprecedented misadventure begins!
This novel turned out to be a complete treat for me,written in an intriguing manner-before each chapter ended, the author made sure to arouse the interest upto the brim!
A zombie apocalypse is sure to give you a rush of adrenaline, alongwith a wave of disgust owing to the gore that ensues here and there. I love how the ultimate chaos is balanced with the peaceful mountain moments!
Remedium is a book that gives you food for thought as well, especially in the current Corona situation-one hears a lot of things, true and untrue both. Remedium shows a glimpse of how the elite or the govt can conspire without anyone raising a finger at them. The depopulation theories you hear might be true. There might be some nature enthusiasts who think it's okay to clear away a few million humans to save earth,I mean there are all sorts of possibilities, you never know!
The ending slightly let me down though, because everyone seemed too forgiving towards the conspirators and well, that was a bit disappointing. I would love if the author writes a sequel to Remedium where Liam and company avenge the conspirators maybe?!
All in all,it was an engaging read that one can devour in a sitting or two!

When a mandatory vaccine is distributed to the world, a very grim outcome takes place.
Zombie's stories tend to follow a similar chain of events, and the danger grows with each new page. This book is no different, but what makes it stand out is the first half of the story. Because we see the outbreak in a school, and the first victims are little children. This is what made the book for me. The utter despair the adults experienced when trying to protect 30 boys and girls from a gruesome death. The chilling scenes of nine-year-olds overpowering and murdering their teachers. I couldn't stop reading. It's brutal, honest, and gripping.
After that, the book follows the traditional path of zombie stories, and we see a group of survivors who face the challenges of leadership, death, and isolation. The biggest question arises; should we be afraid of monsters, or are humans even worse?
For a debut novel, this is very promising. I do wish the punishment for those responsible for the deadly vaccine had been harsher.

The story is easy to read, well-paced, and packed with action that intensified my anticipation of what’s going to happen to Liam, his family, and friends.

I rate highly the detailed description of the zombie scenes in Remedium that reminded me of those of zombie movies I watched before -- gory and scary. The scenes with children who turned into monsters tugged at the heartstrings; the heartbreak and horror of mothers are unimaginable.

As for the characters, there are obvious changes in them after every chapter that made them dynamic; however, as a reader, it felt like I was watching them from a distance. I was not emotionally connected with them. I would appreciate it more if physical signals that convey emotions were more present in the scenes.

All in all the story has a great potential and those who love zombie stories will enjoy this one.

This was my first zombie book ever and I am so glad it was this one! This book was thoroughly enjoying and I adored the characters.
That being said, I did find this just a little bit too fast paced for my tastes. I really did enjoy it, though. Another 100 or 200 pages in the story and I think this could have easily been a 5 star.
However, I do believe that this is YA so not technically my age group but still a super intense and amazing read!!
Also, I'd like to thank the author for sending me a copy to review!

I'm giving this five stars because for a first novel, I was pleasantly surprised!
Very easy, fast paced page turner.
Characters were believable and relatable.
This isn't your typical zombie love story, loved the twists!
I would have liked a few more pages for development as it did feel rushed in some places but that was easily overlooked by being entertained in the next paragraph.
As Young Adult novel I think it was just enough to keep the focus and tell a great tale.
I look forward to reading more from this author!

I've never read a zombie book so I wasn't sure what to expect, but Remedium was an easy to read and highly enjoyable zombie adventure. It had a fair share of action and adventure while still being safe enough not to disturb more sensitive readers.
I enjoyed the different viewpoints as the story unfolded and found the mix of unexpected sad moments with the continuing theme of hope kept me on the edge of my seat, not sure how the ending would pan out.
Recommended if you enjoy an adventure story.

[ARC Review]

Remedium is a young YA horror story featuring vaccinations, government conspiracy theories and zombies.
I DNF'd the book at about 20%

Favourites:
- I liked the scene where Liam learns about his diabetes, as a child. Being close to someone with this debilitating illness, I could relate to this.
- With a premise surrounding vaccinations and government conspiracies, I think it would have been easy in these difficult times for many, to have stepped on a lot of toes. However, I felt like Bauman did a good job making sure that I, as the reader, didn't feel like she felt hot or cold about these currently hot subjects. I can appreciate that. No one likes to be preached at, about any subject, whether they agree or not.

What I missed:
-I found it hard to feel connected to the characters. I wasn't always sure if the author was going for third person limited pov or omniscient, so sometimes it felt like headhopping and the way the characters quite often responded to what was going on in ways that felt very inappropriate to their situation made it unrealistic: jokes and smiles when they ought to have been disgusted or terrified.

Since I didn't finish the story I can't vouch for the rest, but from what I read:
Sexual content: none
Coarse language: extremely mild
Violence and gore: extreme (I'm sure you didn't expect any less, with zombies)

Conclusion
I think the story certainly has potential but it could do with some more beta readers first, possibly to help with the character inconsistencies.
