Still stalked by an unseen force and plagued by unspeakable visions, Lucy feels she cannot carry on for much longer—especially now that Byron, the one person who understood what she was going through, is dead. No one else believes her. She is still alone. And still in grave danger.
In the first two books in The Unseen series, horror maven Richie Tankersley Cusick will take you on a journey into a nightmare so frightening, you will have to sleep with a light on.
Richie Tankersley Cusick is the bestselling young adult author of over 25 titles, including two adult horror titles, Scarecrow and Blood Roots. Her popularity grew at the height of the horror/YA boom in the late '80s/early '90s, particularly with books like Lifeguard , Trick or Treat and Teacher's Pet, just to name a few, allowing her to keep company on the bestseller paperback lists with the likes of R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike. Her fan base expanded about the time she changed publishers to Archway/Pocket Books with titles like Vampire and Someone at the Door.
Well, book two in this series was about as informative as book one. I honestly don't know what to think and I wonder to myself why I'm reading this. It was basically 274 pages of nothing. I've learned nothing.
Lucy has survived the car crash that killed Byron. She was taken to a cave by someone/thing but she doesn't know what. She escapes and ends up in the e/r with a head injury and some minor scrapes.
Now that she's home and Angela is "missing," her Aunt Irene is even more absent than she was before. Lucy is basically scared of everything. Scared to be alone, scared to be around people, scared to sleep. We get a few chapters that are only a couple of pages long from the perspective of what/whoever it is that is stalking her, but no real information.
This book was just one big cat and mouse game with once again, no resolution. It ended in another cliffhanger that really wasn't a big cliffhanger, but a little sliver of information that is supposed to make you want to read the next installment of this story. Honestly, I'll read it because I was dumb enough to buy it, but I really don't care to. I think this 4 book series could've been summed up in one book. This is the first I've read from this author and based on this series of books, I doubt I'd ever pick up another.
I mean, it moved better than book one. But book one set such a low bar there was no where to go but up. Like, holy shit, we have gotten NO WHERE. For over 250+ pages of words how, HOW, has nothing of crazy significance happened?! It's just chapter after chapter of Lucy 1. being sad and dumb about Byron 2. denying her powers or whatever supernatural is happening to her 3. CLEARLY SOMETHING IS HAPPENING TO YOU AND MAYBE YOUR LIFE WILL BE EASIER IF YOU ACCEPT IT AND GET TO THE BOTTOM OF IT. Cusick introduced Chester Molester a little bit more but it's real weird and real rapey... idk. I just... I can't. Sighhhh. On to book three. I hate myself.
Interesting read but I feel like the plot is very stretched out with a lot of unnecessary details. Books 1 and 2 could've really just been one book if all the fluff had been taken out.
I read book 1 and 2 back to back. I've ordered books 3/4 so I can find out what happened. This book is kind of like one big run on sentence. Its not terrible but not great either. I do enjoy the suspense obviously as I need to find out what next. But that could be my OCD at work. I wouldn't call it horror though. I mean there's some mildly creepy stuff but nothing to keep you awake at night.
I want to freaking strangle the main character at times for not just accepting that weird things are happening. After everything she's still all "oh this can't be happening." Oh for the love, accept that weird shit happens and move on!
The story line is original however, and interesting enough to keep me reading.
this was one of the first books I started reading in middle school that heloed my transition into the supernatural genre. it had alot of mystery and suspense that I liked becadue it wasnt obvious at all who the killer and staler if poor lucy. we didnt get a clue to who the mystery person is at all until LITERALLY the last few chapters other the LAST book. which was excellent. im quite oerceptive so I hate finding out who it is three chapters into the book even though it isn't revealled until later to the hero/heroine.itnmakes a book a complete waste of my time . plus it wasnt dragging on about who it was. Although I was frustrated that I couldn't find out who it was it was a good frustration. plus the seductive fear the stalker caused me to fall in love with until I found out who he was. the series as a whole is good so this review is for all four books.
I read this series when I was young so the effect it had on me was worth 5 stars even though if I had read it as a 19 year old it probably wouldnt more than 3 three stars or a four.
The Unseen 2,Rest in Peace is about a girl name Luci having mysterious things happening to her. So one day Luci and her boy friend, Byron, were riding together, and suddenly a shadow came out of nowhere in front of the car. This figure made them get in car crash. Luci's boy friend dies. After Byron death, she starts to have crazy dreams, and she starts to feel that someone is following her, and she also starts to see who's going to die and what time they are going to die. I like this book because it make you think about whats going to happen next and makes it more interesting. This made me keep on reading and not stop. I actually liked everything about this book. This book is one of my favorate books. Someone would like this book because it is like a mystery book, and scary at the same time. Once you read it you will not want to stop reading.
I don't remember why I rated this book three stars, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with the death of my favourite character. Which in that case, three stars is justified.
The atmosphere and the settings were wonderfully creepy like the first book. We get to see Lucy after the accident and how she fares. She's pretty traumatised, but holds up well for my standards. We meet Dakota, a character I'd grow to love and cherish. We also see the ever so gorgeous Matt, who acts suspicious. We get to see the monster interacting with Lucy in some of his human forms. Lucy foretells a girl's death. She gets to volunteer at Byron's house, caring for his grandmother (that was so so sweet and fulfilling; sad).
And in the end when Lucy visits Byron's grave, we meet someone who introduces himself as Byron's brother. Chills.

This is book 2 in a four-book series. The story revolves around Lucy, and starts with an automobile accident in which Byron appears to be killed. The rest of the book continues with Lucy bothered by various things happening to her, growing more and more scared, and unknowingly meeting the person who is causing her problems.
Which pretty much sums up 274 pages of material. The book is frightfully boring. I have no idea why four books were necessary for this series; unless the third and fourth book have tremendous amounts of action in them, then the entire series could have been done in one book.
In fact, the series has become so boring to me that I am going to put off reading the third and fourth book in the series while I read some other, most likely much more interesting books.
Again, I just don't know how I feel about this book. I want to continue the series, but I cannot for the life of me pinpoint why. This story is much like the last. Lucy has visions, sees, touches, hears things that may or may not be there. We still aren't sure. This time we have Father Matt (whom I find a bit creepy) and Dakota. Personally, I miss Byron. The promise of his newly appearinfg brother sounds promising, though he's no substitute. The general mechanics of this series are simple enough. With maybe 200 words per page, it's quick, which means I don't feel like I'm wasting too much time.
At first I was really upset with the first book of the series because they killed Byron, so it was hard for me to get into the second one. After restarting it three times I finally got into it and I really liked it. There is the suspense from the man/ thing stalking her and from seeing Byron. It left me wanting more. I really want to read the next two books in the series. I would definitely read this book again. Anyone who hasn't read this book should along with the first one and continue with the series.
Of course this one ended similarly to the first one ugh! No I am forced to read the third and I would imagine the fourth one. These books are okay. Nothing special to write home about. The girls dumb as hell and the names are SOOOO lame but there entertaining enough for 3.50 each and honestly they are helping me up my reading goal so that's good. I probably wouldn't recommend these though cause none of my friends would enjoy them =/!
My absolute favorite book. I've never read something I've loved more, and it's the first and only book I've ever read more than once. BUT I warn you. Stop with this one. The series plummets by the fourth book. This second installation is perfect as a stand-alone. See my review on the forth book if you really want to know why I hate the series more than anything, but still love this 'particular' book with a passion.
Still has that creep factor and keeps you wondering who/what the bad guy is, but I am finding myself really annoyed. Everything is so dark and depressing with no light or happy moments at all. Also, the way the first two books just "stopped" instead of "ending" gives me the impression that one large book was chopped into 4 small pieces.
I was worried that I would be bored with this book because it seemed like a throwaway from the first book, however, this book was just as interesting as the first. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was happening and what kind of monster the bad guy was. I still haven't figured out where this story is going but I am excited to continue with the series and see where things go.
Still...I'm not seeing any progression with the story the author is trying to tell... The characters are just so flat. Really, the only one I like right now is Dakota. I guess it's because she reminds me a lot of me. But other than that...I guess I'll continue and see where it goes. I'm eager to finish the series because it's so flat, draggy, and painful. But three stars, just for Dakota.
I got about half way through the book and I had to stop, I just didn't like it. The first one was A LOT better in my opinion. This book starts off weird to me and it was too confusing. I had high hopes for this book because I thought it would get better as the story progressed.
The unseen part 2 as a rely good book. If you like books that are hard to find some things out about it than you need to read this book. It has all kinds of drama in it. So fare I like all of the unseen books.
LOVED IT...this book was amazingly written...it kept me up late at night just reading this flipping through the pages...I couldnt put it down and I didnt want to...5/5 stars and recommend it for everyone, espically people who like peranormal stories...
So my ipod app for good reads doesnt always work the correct way! But the wrong review with the wrong book! lol! Good book- I am still lost and confused. I hope to have at least some answers in the next book!
I loved every book in the Unseen series, I read each of them in less than a day a piece. I could just not put them down. I don't usually like paranormal type books but this one just keeps you on the edge of your seat.
another heart pounding read in the unseen. Lucy has to cope with alot of things now that the only person that she trust is gone. the only thing that has help this far is befriending a new friend, Dakota, as she tries to discover what is after her.
I liked the first book somewhat, but I can't continue this series. It just doesn't perk my interest. The storyline is great, but I don't think this is my type of read. I really wanted to like it, but you can't force yourself into something you don't want to.
This is the next book in the Unseen quartet. It is great and still full of mystery, the plot makes you want to read and not stop till the book is done.
