I think Keener is really a robot, and not a man. He has such a gift for understanding and presenting primary source material from early/classical Greek and Roman authors.
If you are Reformed, this is not going to be in your top 5 as a theological commentary on 1 Peter. But as a commentary that is absolutely indispensable for providing historical/societal/contextual background, I don’t think there is another commentary like it available. So in my estimation, it is worth having and reading.

413 pages of actual commentary. It was insightful and well footnoted for further study. The "closer look" notes were beneficial, especially with their historical connections.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this recent commentary on 1 Peter. The Author does a marvellous job on filling in background / cultural information whilst presenting quite a readable commentary. It is always good to find a commentary that is difficult to put down, whilst also being a good reference / resource.

This makes me even more keen to get a good bargain on the author’s multi-volume work on Acts ;-)

Highly recommended - and accessible to both those new to commentaries and who have been reading them for decades (as I have).

Excellent commentary on 1 Peter. Significant emphasis on cultural background and the precedent for various concepts in primary sources.
