Do I save myself, or do I save the world?
Xerxes the King of Flames is out to regain the power he lost to the King of Frost, so he can wreak havoc in the realms once more. He’s focused, vicious and, worst of all, he’s after me.
You see, I, Cerys Dark, am the only mage who can help him regain his full power. I’ve learned to hate him long before I met him, but I'll be damned, when he comes for me it’s not a hideous demon that I face. It’s a king riddled with shadow, magic and the promise of guilty pleasures. In exchange for my help he promises me freedom from the fated mates' bond that we share - a curse in its own right. His proximity entices me in all the wrong and yet oh-so-right ways, but staying under his control would eventually consume me. I have to resist this pull no matter what. On the other hand, releasing Xerxes Blazeborn into the worlds with full power means destroying them all. So here I am, faced with a choice—Do I save myself, or do I save the realms?

Ana Calin believes every good romance needs a dash of danger, a spark of magic, and a hero who’s more than just a little bit dark. Author of Prince of Midnight, Lord of Winter, King of Flames, and other spine-tingling tales, Ana invites readers to escape into worlds where brooding lords, fiery passions, and supernatural secrets await at every turn. When she’s not summoning her characters to life, she’s digging through old legends, or people-watching for inspiration, all while sipping her coffee a little too dramatically. If you’re ready for love stories that smolder and heroes that haunt your dreams, welcome to Ana’s world—where midnight is just the beginning.

Another awesome read from Ana Calin!!! When it comes to bad asses of the underworld Xerxes Blazeborn king of flames is legendary from how powerful he is to his warrior strength! He also commands fire and is on a mission to take over the world by any means even if it means raising a army the undead, but when he goes up against lysander and Arielle they strip him of his core power and so he kidnaps cery a powerful light mage to help him locate the firestone to regain his lost power, the only catch in his plan..... Cery has the power to bring the the king of flames to his knees because she is his fated mate! Can Xerxes keep the distance between him and the lovely cery or will love win the day. Only time will tell what's in store for these lovers. Their journey for the firestone will take them to a graveyard were the dead guard it's hiding place, but that's just the beginning the real terrifying danger is the Wraiths who guard it! I love this paranormal world that Ana Calin has created the characters all unique and even villians like Xerxes are very complexed, just when you think you got them figured out theirs so much more to them and their back story. This has all of Ana's trademarks from hot steamy scenes to passionate banter.
Her storytelling is awesome as well. I especially loved reading more about cery's familiar a magical black cat Nasarean that Hades, cerys father gave to her. Here's to hoping that we learn more about him for theirs more to this cat and the secrets that are hidden behind his knowing eyes. Theirs more to come! Next up Kingdom of Fire coming out sometime in july,so we won't have to wait long to see what's in store for this trio! Until next time Luv's💕💋

What a story. I love when we find out there is way more to the bad boy. It is extremely well written and the characters are stunningly beautiful. The descriptions are vivid and they add so much to the story. It is gripping and addictive. It pulls you in and doesn’t let go. Cerys and Xerxes Have so much chemistry and their banter back and forth is so intriguing. It adds depth to the story and allows us to see more to the situation that we could have expected. Xerxes is so protective that he is misunderstood. He is one that you come to love. This is a must read and it does not disappoint. It is stunning in all its glory.

I have been waiting for this book for what feels like forever. I got it, I devoured it, I LOVED IT!

Cerys Dark is a mage but not just any mage. She’s the only mage that can help Xerxes King of Flames regain his core which he lost in a battle with The King of Frost and the Sea Queen. He’s been in hiding ever since. She’s also prophesied to be his fated mate. She’s heard all the bad things about Xerxes and she has grown to hate him before she knows him.

Xerxes once wanted Cerys Dark dead for the simple fact that she could be his fated mate and that would give him a weakness. That is until he needs her help. She’s the only mage that can help him regain his power. Even if only temporarily.

These two meet and the connection is instant. She is able to see a side of him that no others have gotten to see, a side that he has never shared. Ever. He finds it hard to hide his true self and his true intentions for all the realms from her. Their bond will not allow him to deceive her. She has started to believe he is not the villain she has been led to believe. So she allows herself to open up to him and trust him. If only with her safety for now.

The adventure in this story is incredible. The way they help each other is truly loving. The heat is minimal in this first installment of their story. I can only hope Ana Calin will deliver in their next installment as I know she can. Don’t get me wrong, the current of passion is there in every touch and every look, they’re just trying to minimize the bond between them so they are controlling themselves to not act upon their desires.

I cannot wait for the next installment of their story. WoWZAme I am literally counting down the days until I receive the next email telling me it’s available so I can 1-click it and devour it as I have this one. Be warned… it ends on a cliffhanger. But that’s nothing new for Miss Calin. I’m used to it by now, and she definitely doesn’t disappoint with her sequel books so a cliffhanger is A-Okay with me.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Don't waste your time. Zero chemestry between the protagonists, zero character development (the two main characters have pretty much zero interaction with anyone else). When they meet they are imediatelly super attracted to one another but have no chemestry at all... it's just a bad book.

Opposites attract. The King of Flames lost his core and what gave him his power, when the King of Frost and his lover took it from him. For a year he has been hiding with his followers, and then one of his mages tells him he knows how his core can be restored. A mage named Cerys. She is a light mage and fought against him on his opponent’s side a year ago. When he meets her he realizes she is his mate, but they are so different. She is light and he is dark. And if they claim each other he can be killed. All an enemy would have to do is killer her and he dies. But Cerys has powers no one knows about. So even though they must work together and take a journey together, they have to ignore the mate bond. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review

As we discovered, Cerys Dark is Xerxes fated mate. They hid her in the Flipside so he would not find her. It is one year after the battle with Lysander and Xerxes is very weak and needs the help of Cerys to get some of his core back. He ends up finding her after she sneaks out. They go back to her place and he is temporarily replenished. As they search for the Firestone, the two are drawn to one another and they cannot fight fate. Xerxes ends up make a blood promise to her. What will happen if he gets the Firestone? Will their love be true? Will he change for her? I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.

Hot Dark PNR!!

Scorching hot villain, goodie two shoes heroine, fated mates fighting against fate, and a scorching hot bed scene that makes you take a cold shower, that's all you'll find in Ana Calin's new masterpiece. And for those that read Prince Radek's story in her Dracula's Bloodline series, you'll find some key elements repeating with the Fae of Fire and Ash series-- which in no way should be detractor factor for the enjoyment of Xerxes story.
King of Flames is an emotional ride from beginning to end-- an end that had me pulling at my hair. Did it really had to end like that!? At least we are getting the second book in July so we can get over that cliffhanger soon and calm our hearts.

If you've read Fae of Darkness series, you know the Fire King Xerxes is the bad guy.
Only in this story we finally discover that not everything is black and white. There are a lot of "red" areas and Cerys will help bring them to the surface.
I love the idea of a man changing because of a woman and this is just that kind of story even when the characters keep struggling their feelings.
This is a full story and has enough backdrop about the context so you can read before the other serie with no problem.
Because this is that good, there is a second book after this one, so expect to be hooked.

This is a well-written start to a new Paranormal series with great main characters who are defined, attracted to one another, fated mates, but also opposites. These main characters make a journey to regain strength and power and as a result learn and like the other. There are obstacles, action, chemistry and adventures. I liked this book. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

This book is excellent. It is well written and the characters and story are well developed. I loved the individual character personalities and seeing their relationship dynamics progress and evolve throughout the book. The story was excellent. There was action, suspense, intrigue, emotion, hot chemistry and romance. I’d highly recommend this book!! I can’t wait for the next book!!

Xerxes

I really enjoyed the book. My only issue is how easy is been up to this point. Xerxes and Cerys didn't have any competition. For someone who is low on power and someone else who doesn't know how to do anything but channel, they sure do get out of trouble awful quick. It was still a fun read and there is a lot if action. The chips just fell in place a little too easy for me.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this as an ARC
Ana Calin twined this story around me until I couldn't devour it fast enough. Xerxes and Cerys embark on a hair raising journey that bind the fated mates tighter and tighter. I can't wait to continue their travels and the part Nazaraen will play.

Love these stories

The love story was great, 4 stars b/c of the lack details in the story it was written well as all her books r and the story itself was great and it makes u fall in love w Xerxes as she does thru the story. But I just wish there were more details about what the cosmos of chaos is who samael is, little things like that but it does end on a happy note with a cliffhanger so I'm hoping those details will b addressed in the next book. Which I'm looking forward to reading. Love all Anas books

Ehhh

Not the best writing ever, the story is interesting, but at times very confusing. If the writing was a bit better the flow would have been better.

An up close and personal look at Xerxes.

Cerys Dark is a mage and magic manipulator. She can restore magic in a person and is so full of goodness and light she glows. Xerxes Blazeborn is the King of Flames, but his magical core was destroyed in his fight with Lysander, King of Frost. Xerxes needs Cerys to help restart his fire. They will need the Firestone to fix him permanently. During their quest, she realizes the reason Xerxes is the way he is and the things he does is to protect. The more they are together the stronger their mate bond gets. They will fight legions of wraiths and undead in their quest. Xerxes wants to save Cerys from himself and hurts her in order to try to protect her. This is a terrific beginning to this series and I highly recommend it. I requested an advance readers copy of this book and the opinions are strictly my own.

Another good story in this amazing world that is attached to ours. This time Xerxes is the lead and he has a plan but it goes sideways a bit as he meets Cerys. It was a blast to read as I was entertained and laughed and groaned through most of it. But it did keep me reading to the end just to see what would happen next. Cerys and Xerxes as fated mates was a hoot. It was full of action, adventure, trouble, twists and steam.

Cerys and Xerxes cannot be any different from each other but fate had something else in store for them. I loved the adventure and twists in the story. I cannot wait to read the next installment.
